I bought my Caliber new at the dealership in March 2008. 15 years later, it is still my daily driver. The road salt from the Canadian winters sure has taken its toll on the old girl, but she is still running strong. Since it's such a simple and easy to work on car, I've done all my own repairs. (Front struts, tie rods, alternator, brakes, etc). Everyone told me that I was a fool for buying Mopar, but, this car won't die. Very happy with my 15 year old purchase.
I have a 2007dodge caliber turn headlights on turn signal on headlight goes off fast turn signal light no horn no air conditioning Left side works fine any ideas
lightning bolt issue on dash with check engine replaced throttle body and intake air temperature still have the same issue can that be battery or wiring or ecm?
Hi I'm Jamie I have a 2010 Dodge caliber. All of the above that you talked about in your video is my problem with this car. Oh joy. I'm in a gas station in the middle pump I pump $10 of gas in my car my car won't start. I also have a rescue pit bull in the car that's my baby. Hey and a Ukraine car saleslady sold me the car. I purchased a maintenance-free battery from Walmart for it. As Of right now I am unemployed only having liability insurance on my car not full coverage and really $0 for spending to fix my car let alone feel my tank with gas. So I'm in the Middle Island gas pump about 10:00 at night and I can't start my car so everybody's so friendly nowadays I asked other people coming in the gas station. The gas station attendant, excuse me, a Habib, is yelling at me through some intercom in his little booth and I can't understand what he's saying he's too close to the microphone he comes out I got my hood up I'm trying to get a jump from a dude that is in a big truck okay and the guy's going to start banging on my window to make my dog freak out I'm flipping out so this guy's jumping my car I got to go in the car while my dogs barking jumping all around and I can't start it. It started, just a little bit , and it's like chugel lugen , not staying running. Then the dude that jumped my car from his truck is shaking his head telling me my engine is fried well I'm going to do some of these things that you said now the programming of this f****** key I don't know but you crazy sells car lady I don't know I need to fix my car that I do no, thank you. Tip for today, "" NEVER LAND YOUR TOOLS OUT TO ANYBODY."" !!
I have one here in 2024 with 298,003 miles paid $600.00 for it and is literally better than ANY new car I was paying a note on. So don’t pass these cars up.
I would like to add the throttle body issue where the power just tanks and you have to limp home at 12 mph. You will also get a lightning bolt symbol on your dash.
We bought a used 2007 Caliber about 2 months ago and just started hearing some squeaking in what appears to be the rear of the vehicle when accelerating. Any suggestions on what to look for when I get some time to take a look?
I got a 2007 dodge caliber and I absolutely love it. I would buy this car again if I could. I have had mine going on 3 or 4 years which I cannot believe time has went by this fast. Mine is now at 142,000 I have not had anything serious go wrong with it just basic repairs.
Did you have any problems with the subframe or control arms rusting?? Apparently this had been an issue and they could be replaced for free under the extended warranty - I didn’t know this until my daughter had an accident because the control arms were rotted through…
I would like to add the very poorly designed rear suspension with spherical bearings on the lower control arm, upper control arm and toe link, they wear out fast just due to the nature of its design, wich ends up causing very bad camber and toe, and clunking, an absolute nightmare

I have a car like this. This is good to know, I downloaded this for later. I changed my stereo to a kenwood. The ecm controls the stereo power so I just wired the power wire directly to the battery via a toggle switch it works smooth like butter, That stock stereo was pussy and very underpowered. Im going to change the battery in my key asap because of this video
If your key does end up failing and you stall out, Do NOT put it in park, put it in neutral and pull the ebrake. You wont get it out of park if you dont have a key fab.
Love my Dodge Caliber. It is a 2007, bought it when it was a year old. Only needed a few batteries, and had one other minor repair needed. 108k, and still going......
Okay, the wireless control module thing explains so much. The other day I pulled up to the park and when I tried to lock the car, nothing happened. Then I tried to start the engine, nothing happened. We figured we'd at least go enjoy the park before calling AAA, no rush. We get back to the car and it's fine. I've been nervous about this cause I had no idea why it was happening, but I probably just need to replace the battery in my key. Nifty video!
Maaaann, I think my 2010 Caliber SXT might have that Wireless Control Module issue(I hope not, and it’s just the key battery) it was parked for about 4-5 months, worked PERFECTLY FINE when I parked it, the battery in the key has NEVER been replaced since we got it. Anyways, I had went and bought a brand new car battery because I thought that was the issue(the old one needed replacing anyways, although it DID hold a charge) and when I tried starting it, it had power at first then just clicked like the battery was dead, so I popped the hood again and swapped out the new battery for another battery from one of my other cars which I know is perfectly fine because it’s my daily, and it was doing the same thing, it finally started after I started messing with the battery terminals, disconnected reconnected many times. But now you got me thinking it could be something so simple as the key battery 🤦♂️
Power control module, PT Cruiser and other mopars have Same issues, sometimes replacement or reprogramming doesn't Fix the problem, insulation on wires is thin and cheap, sometimes they have to be traced back, because heat destroys them.
I really liked our 2008 Dodge Caliber. We sold it at 100K miles, ready for something a bit more sophisticated, so we got a 2016 Jeep Compass - almost the same as the Caliber as many know. Anyway, problems that we had were common, according to what I read. Control arms rusted in front; replaced for free under warranty extension. Hood rusted at the latch because the water could not drain properly (no drain holes!). At 10 years old the rocker panels were rusting. We paid to have that fixed, then sold it. Other than what I described above it was a very good car. Fantastic in the snow with studded snow tires (no need for 4WD with quality snows).
Love the car ut am disabled and my driver door stuck and can't open it 3 month now send me some tips how yo get it open only one door stuck all other 3 open easily
American made cars are Trash LOL I just can't with Ford and GM cars. You got to do a rain dance and throw scattered chicken bones for a great omen in wishing the car would not break after fixing or before driving....LOL
I will add to the sunroof drain issue. If blowing them out from the top does not work, the ends of those get clogged. Make sure you open the sunroof, pop the hood and they are located in the left and right sides on the fire wall. They are kind of akward so I attached bendy surgical hose and it fixed my issue.

Sorry all of the issues you are talking about are minor issues, now the K frame rusting out, which seems a very common problem. Suggest you watch several RUclips videos on this change as if you don't do it in order you will paint yourself into some rather unique problems. Step Daughter got a very low mileage Caliber with a rusted out K frame and her significant other didn't listen and watch the videos first. Well he actually was entertaining as he found EVERY WRONG way to replace the part. Let him stew for a couple of weeks then got it sorted out for him.
People say they like these cars but I would not recommend it to nobody I got 2007 Dodge caliber and had it for like six or seven months and now the cooled engine light come on I replace the transmission and it's still doing the same thing I don't recommend these cars to nobody cuz you can't even read up on what's the problem cute cars but bad cars
Ok today I got to the stop sign and it was in drive and it refused to go.. If I shift it in park it grind but it's automatic.. if I shift it drive, reverse, or neutral or low it wouldn't move.. i even had it turned off and the keys on me and it rolled by itself without a key in the ignition. I'm thinking linkage cable? Or anything that involves shifting to it.. it's wonky for sure.. Any ideas? It starts just doesn't move unless it was in neutral and being pushed. 2008 Dodge Caliber
i really appreciate that you cover older vehicles i just realized how recent your uploads were. i thought for sure they were from like 2015 when covering such an old vehicle.
Front wipers only don't work when you hit the switch dash lights come on one after another and wipers still nothin for a split second BUS comes across the Odometer..Any ideas for a fix other than the regular tie battery ends together for xx amount of time next option I have is replace the wiper motor but the lights coming on one after another when hitting the switch seems more electrical? Any ideas?
What can fix the idle vibration ona a manual 2008? I changed the throttle i changed the spark plugs, i replaced the battery terminals as well idk what it is
Haven’t watched it all but I hope you mention the front crossmember rusting out. My caliber puked it’s sway bars and control arms onto the road when my front crossmember snapped in half
Ive replaced front end parts relentlessly despite being such a soft driver. Recently coil and plugs AGAIN. But it has taken care of me better than expected.
bought mine in 2014 it a 2011 dodge caliber mainstreet with 20,000 miles did my own maintenance. only problem is lower control arm in front left and right..other than that it done me good..i have 94,000 miles on it now
I just want to go thru my PC screen and give you a BIG MEGA KISS.....I have a Dodge Caliber since 2009 I love it even named it MARVIN......BUT Marvin thinks its a Mercedes or maybe a Rolls the ANTI Theft kicks in ...so tempermental even went to my dealer and had the FUSE BOX changed ..the COST $600.00 mula buckos.....and 3 years later it started up again....I used to play with the key starting the car shutting the car even had it towed because nothing doing ...ANYWAYS tried the PANIC Mode you suggested and VOILA .....Love you Love you Thank You so much Marvin is back !!!!
So is it normal that RPM's go up to almost 2 after ignition? It's winter timer, so this can be a sort of a winter mode, but I m not sure TBH. It doesnt happen when the engine is warm.
I’ve got a 2008 caliber and I’ve basically had the entire under side of the car replaced and rebuilt. I don’t think they are made for the English climate. Too wet and prone to severe rust.
Junk car , paper thin sub frame will rot out in rust belt, get ready for leaking anti freeze plastic hose junctions, once you get into limp mode problems get ready to off yourself
I have an 07 Dodge caliber check engine light is on while driving the car will drive fine then a few minutes down the road it'll start stalling like it's starving for gas and once I turn the car off after putting in a neutral Henry starting the car it runs fine again for another few minutes
You forgot the Major problem the CVT Transmission I own 2008 scene 2011 and the worst thing is the stupid transmission if I could swap it with a manual transmission, or Avenger / Journey AT transmission, I would keep it forever
So my issue is trying to replace the stereo with an aftermarket one. I bought a dual shock stereo but that wire harness clip thing isn't the right size for the stereo and im not really sure what stereo I should be looking for
I’m having somewhat of the same radio problem. My radio works when it wants to when it works my car works and when it go out so do the car. We have checked the car over i don’t know how many times . Only I feel like we can do is replace the radio or the PCM.
I have a 2009 Caliber and only normal water and tear. seat are super comfortable and drives great. never had any problems u said. I bought it in 2011 and still have it
Owner of a 2008 Caliber SRT-4. From what I've been told, while I was driving to work, shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear casually driving at 20mph, my crank walked. Causing oil to drain from the crank seal. I'm told by my mechanic that I need a new engine. Can ANYONE find an engine for me? PLEASE! I've barely had any time with this car and don't want to be out $6,000 and without a car. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@@MzInk100 adding a aftermarket transmission cooler will help and changing the transmission fluid. The fluid get burnt fairly quick in CVT transmissions depending how you drive it.
Anyone new here, please be aware the entire chassis and suspension is horrible and will break down quickly. Normal maintenance on this will be early replacements of control arms, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar links, and the Mopar shocks/struts are not worth a penny
Everyone that owns a CALIBER should check rear upper control arms..... If your rear tires are showing excessive wear on the inside tread, it is most certainly the upper control arm bushings gone bad. It was a design flaw..... I replaced mine with adjustable upper control arms.
I recently bought a 2007.....not disclosed by seller...rear Hatch won't open, as well as rear wiper and rear brake light needs to be replaced of course...oh and I recently replaced the battery and now the after market radio isn't working 🤔
yeah 2010 -2012 they upgrated the dash and the interior panels , also it got upgraded version of CVT transmission , AC compressor 6Seu16 instade of 5Seu12 , and upgraded ECU unite
I want to thank you My Caliber has been making a thumping and clicking noise sparatckly since I bought it and until I watched your video I didn't even think about the stereo being the causer behind it
I was Hoping you could advise as to how to secure the hatch back skin ... We had a problem with the locking mechanism - it was jammed up as a result of something coming loose at a junction but when the skin was put back in place it was never clipped adequately and therefore comes out of position ... do you have suggestions as to how to secure the skin? Is it difficult to change the orientation of the clip? Thanks, Linda
I have a 2008 caliber just turned 15 yo. 125k miles. Started smelling a burning smell lately . I have been getting water inside my floor the past few years. Nobody can figure it out. Had to replace struts a few years ago. The last two years I have had to replace the part inside the steering wheel. Horn started honking on its own 🤦🏻♀️
The problem with this video is that it's very generic or ot only applies to specific version of the Caliber (such as those with a factory sunroof). I mean strut failure? Come on! That ALL struts and shocks eventually fail. It's like saying that the brake pads needing to be replaced is common issue #6. Obviously you didn't have enough real issues to talk about. I bought a 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT in 2013 and almost have 300,000 miles on it now. It has a 5-speed manual transmission so I can't attest to the P issues. It has been a solid vehicle, but there are a few glaring issues that affect ALL of these vehicles. #1 is the rusting of the front crossmember. This is a HUGE issue and Chrysler has extended the warranty for 10 years from the manufacture date, but really this should be a lifetime warranty replacement. I'm getting ready to do mine in the driveway because I missed that 10 year mark. #2 Intake Manifold Runner Flaps fail and get stuck. I currently have this issue and will eventually need to remove the intake manifold and attempt to fix it, or replace the entire intake manifold as a whole. Other than that, this vehicle has been one of the most reliable and trouble free vehicles I have ever owned.
My 2011 caliber heat turned over but wouldn't start. Battery dying. Tried to get a jump but didn't help. Thought i heard small noise behind car factory cd player.
For the 4th Problem with dodge caliber u can Recalibrate them without a tool, and they relearn to drive, if your abs is faulty u can remove fuse# 34 and 35 and recalibrate the car and it relearn to drive again like new and brakes perfect. Only thing u need to drive the car for 5 or more and u need to drive slow.

I’ve got a 2008 caliber and I’ve basically had the entire under side of the car replaced and rebuilt. I don’t think they are made for the English climate. Too wet and prone to severe rust.
I wish my teachers as a kid was this understandable and informational
What about the crap CVT, the throttle body failures, front ball joints, anti-rollbar noises, coolant leaks.....?
Cvt is crap
@Jason Littlefield Yet
Throttle is terrible. Had to replace it Wednesday. My throttle was completely destroyed, something inside was rattling.
Huh, yeah I've had throttle body failures and issues with front joints.
@Jason Littlefield Yours must have been built on a Wednesday. You LUCKY scab!!
Hey my 2010 Caliber park lights not working and can’t find the fuse. Help please
You forgot the Major problem the CVT Transmission
I own 2008 scene 2011 and the worst thing is the stupid transmission if I could swap it with a manual transmission, or Avenger / Journey AT transmission, I would keep it forever
The main issue on these is the rust that they stopped the warranty for. That was the front and rear frame
What are the biggest problems with 2010 - 2019 nissan kicks
Thank you so much for making this video, it helped me out a lot.
So my issue is trying to replace the stereo with an aftermarket one. I bought a dual shock stereo but that wire harness clip thing isn't the right size for the stereo and im not really sure what stereo I should be looking for

Hey Bodie trasmisión isb fail what can I do?
Owner of a 2008 Caliber SRT-4. From what I've been told, while I was driving to work, shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear casually driving at 20mph, my crank walked. Causing oil to drain from the crank seal. I'm told by my mechanic that I need a new engine. Can ANYONE find an engine for me? PLEASE! I've barely had any time with this car and don't want to be out $6,000 and without a car. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You can buy mine for 3,000 srt4 runs good but I can’t pass smog if your keeping engine it won’t matter
Frank if ya really wanna sell it let me know looking for another SRT4 Caliber hope to hear from ya.
My dodge caliber wont start lights come on n door dings but won't start . Please help
These guys are awesome. Very clear and understandable when I’m trying to problem or fix my vehicles !!!
i heve the car dodsg but is not salletiny gera what can be the prombler
I must add TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING, love the car but this is a HUGE problem on Sunny days🥺
Me too also .did you resolve the issue?
@@MzInk100 adding a aftermarket transmission cooler will help and changing the transmission fluid. The fluid get burnt fairly quick in CVT transmissions depending how you drive it.
Anyone new here, please be aware the entire chassis and suspension is horrible and will break down quickly. Normal maintenance on this will be early replacements of control arms, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar links, and the Mopar shocks/struts are not worth a penny
I agree... I'm having major loud noise from the front end. I'm thinking shock towers.. any suggestions would help. Thank you
All vehicles have these videos
Anything can go wrong with any make model car truck and ect.
My Honda leaks sunroof stopped working
+Allen Simonson Thanks for the feedback!
Everything you've mentioned is what I'm going through right now🤔
Everyone that owns a CALIBER should check rear upper control arms..... If your rear tires are showing excessive wear on the inside tread, it is most certainly the upper control arm bushings gone bad. It was a design flaw..... I replaced mine with adjustable upper control arms.
+V C Thanks for the feedback!
I recently bought a 2007.....not disclosed by seller...rear Hatch won't open, as well as rear wiper and rear brake light needs to be replaced of course...oh and I recently replaced the battery and now the after market radio isn't working 🤔
+L0vefrequency500 Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

I paid a thousand bucks for my 07 Caliber and I've had it five years
+Troy Harms Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks,
Linda
I have a 2008 caliber just turned 15 yo. 125k miles. Started smelling a burning smell lately . I have been getting water inside my floor the past few years. Nobody can figure it out. Had to replace struts a few years ago. The last two years I have had to replace the part inside the steering wheel. Horn started honking on its own 🤦🏻♀️
The modern K car but cross lick form.
How can I see my key battery is flat
My radio just randomly cuts off and I have an actuator that randomly clicks with or without the ignition on. Very weird electronics in mine, 2011.
6th. problem with this car: the evaporator of the A/C system and the 7th. very important: the transmission CVT get overheated easily
So has the same problems of the ford focus? The transmission is trash????
@@Forsaken-Orphan uses the same nissan cvt transmission used in altimas at the time a.k.a. trash XD
Do a simple Jiffy Lube fluid replacement. Fixes it.
How did he forget that
The problem with this video is that it's very generic or ot only applies to specific version of the Caliber (such as those with a factory sunroof).
The passenger side headlight access
The light in the front of the radio is not working
All the problems im having now
mine on a stop it iddles weird n it’s only on a stop
My 2011 caliber heat turned over but wouldn't start. Battery dying. Tried to get a jump but didn't help. Thought i heard small noise behind car factory cd player.
Check the sub frame too. They tend to rot quick
+Paul Swanson Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks I got 2009 and my abs light is on
Jeep Compass is the same, I bought mine spring of 2012, at 216,000 miles still going, maintence goes a long way.
My daughter just bought one and it runs great SO FAR lol, I cannot find how to check the transmission fluid????
Mine didnt come with a sunroof 😢
