I myself drive a 2019 VW Golf-R and for people who don't know anything about cars, they think I'm absolutely insane for spending roughly $40k on it. To them its just a regular car. Until I gap them and leave them a couple lights behind.
it’s not though. with different engines, suspension, shaved bodies, etc it’s built off of those cars but not the same. i’ve owned a normal 9th gen civic 5spd and a fb6 6spd with a different engine, stock lsd, etc and they don’t sound the same or even feel the same. i see what you’re saying but you can’t downplay a built car
The fb srt pages is full of people that just talk shit... Getting info on the srt forums is the best info on what has and hasnt worked.. ive been in the neon game since way before srt4 platform... I love that you stuck with it and made a car that you enjoy for you and not one that everyone just expects it to be
I’m telling you brother, as long as you’re smart and patient the right neon will be there and you will not regret it. My brothers yellow SRT neon is still my favorite car in existence. I had a caliber for 3 years to “be different” than him but since last year I’ve sold it and now have a black 04 SRT4. Imo one of the best looking turbo 4cl. I look forward to seeing neon content in the future 🤝
Great video. The srt4 came out when i was in high school (yes im old) and i always wanted one. I picked up a 1 owner eletric blue and haven't looked back. I absolutely love my car. Btw tell your boy to look into realtune performance for a great option for shifter cables. TOTALLY worth it as they are the only company making NEW cables.
I'm old too. I was always more of a cobalt SS kind of guy. Basically the direct competition for a srt-4. Goofy wing, ground effects, supercharged/turbo 4 cylinder, easy to make big power with minimal work. I need something economical to offset my truck...maybe I'll go that route

When I think of early 2000’s tuner culture the SRT-4 immediately comes to mind and idk why but for some reason I look at the SRT-4 guys and the DSM guys kind of have this same mentality
Just picked up a new neon srt4, got rust on pinch welds and as of now lightly on rockers, dont know if im going to fix it or just keep driving it and when its bad just transfer all the mods to a new body. But everyday getting in that car makes me love it more. These cars are really great. I want to have the first SRT4 in desert tan 😎 hopefully i can getbthe body work done next year or end of this year and dip the car after

dude i had an srt4 for 11 yrs with 225000 miles on it with the same oem clutch. i loved mine but traded it in for my 4x4jeep. i so want it back and i think the wife is going to let me get another ot work on. love it and understand so much about them. stay intouch about it.
SRT 4's are such underrated fun street cars. My homie in college back in the early 2000s had a basic 5spd Neon but he lightly modded it and to this day I still wonder why it never came with a Tachometer from factory and had to shift based on his exhaust sound 😂
some one i know had a 2000 Honda Civic 5-speed and it also didn't come with a tach. My 1998 Neon 2.0L DOHC 5-speed didn't have a factory tach but my 1998 Neon R/T did
First car I ever bought from a dealer was the 05 orange blast srt4. Thing was a beast!! To this day no turbo car can replicate the sound of this car especially the blow off valve.
I respect race modern car's like Dodge Neon Srt4 from mid 2000s but I'm fan of 90s bodystyles more than 2000s can't argue with working on Mistushbi s & Acura's are my specialist.
Have it retuned, are you using the DSP tuner? Your car might be pulling timing if it gets heat soaked. Water injection at high boost can cure the timing issue. But tune the car while using water injection on the dyno the results are golden

There it was "2004 Sport Compact Car of the Year" on the cover of the newest issue of Sport Compact Car magazine. The 2003 Dodge SRT4...in all it's glory! That still favorite yellow that showed off the car in its best angles. *I know getting long* fast-forward....big mistake!
I think the Neon SRT4 was the very first in the SRT family. If I get the opportunity, I'd do a full " OEM + " rebuild from the ground up. Probably would piece together and upgrade a Mopar stage 3 kit, too.
I built 2 of these. But that was over a decade ago 😂 I'm a old ass man. But let me tell you. If you build it correctly. We were smoking Vipers and Porsche and the list goes on. We had the clutch triple plated. Upgraded fuel system that was run to a Nintendo switch mounted on the dash. Big turbo, exhaust and more. There was no first or second gear lol love this car. And it's not just a NEON 😂 BIG DIFFERENCE Then a booty family neon. 4cly naturally aspirated. It's a beast stock 😎👌🏼🔥
Before anyone does what I would like to undo... make sure if you buy one that it is low mileage and stock for the most part aside from basic Bolton's. Next, preferably get the newsryof the years because it had alot of things addressed that affected the initial year. Also the stage kits came stock from the factory well not everything or all but like having the LSD in the transmission is a MOST. This thing already has a s hi t ton of torque steer but a good driver is able to use that LSD with the clutch to make torque steer under steer and AWD something for weenie's and people that want to have 4 wheels save them at the line and in bad weather. Lol o yeah make sure you test drive it and I MEAN drive it HARD if you don't want to make sure that you don't have it fail on the 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd shifts and leave you sit somewhere id advise you to bang the gears good. Even then you most likely will have to fix the same thing shortly after if you intend on driving it how it was meant to be driven. However that being said why in the fck would they let a problem like that which they absolutely had to know no matter what they say. Next pull up the carpets inside and trunk area check for moisture, staining, must/mildew/mold (smell), seals and gaskets on doors and windows. Most importantly the sunroof where it will all start. After that make sure that you don't buy one lol
it REALLY is too bad dodge didn't make it AWD. I owned one and loved it. Miss it all the time. It COULD have went down with legends like the Eclipse GSX, and Evo 8/9. But dodge decided to keep it as budget as possible.
I recently bought my second NSrt-4 from the original owner with 88k on the clock. I paid 7,800 and feel like I robbed the guy :) The community is poop, you're right but in this comment section alone I've seen things like the shifter cables that I've been looking for for about a year. These cars are the most fun cars to drive, It's "just a neon" but once that boost hits It's something special. It's unlike any other boosted car of the era and kind of now even in the way it delivers boost so aggressively.

On my second srt-4 along side with my z06. When they are treated properly and modded well, they are good cars

SRT4 was the first SRT branded product for Dodge.

Put a chassis mount wing on it and then come on over to DSM.

Rears bolt up. Fronts need a bracket and the back of the caliper grinded to fit the 2g knuckles

Seen people swap the SRT4 engine into 2G Eclipse... it's actually becoming common
