When I clicked on this I fully expected to see a sad performance by a once great singer who is now playing at state fairs and trying to cling to the spotlight. I can't say how blown away I am at how great he sounds, he was 73 at the time this was recorded and he is hitting every note and it sounds incredible.
I assume when you say "He's still got it", you mean herpes right? Because this performance is not only embarrassing for the performer, but the people there who actually paid money to see this train wreck.
Yep , there's solid F above high C. Robert Plant gave up a 1/2 octave at least, even back in his day 70's in live shows, Plant was the best but he really lost his highs so long ago. Even the late great Brad Delp struggled live, a schooled singer will know exactly what I'm referring to, the casual listener won't likely catch it.
One of the greatest American or any singer of all time. That Southern Blue Eyed soul...Still hitting the notes. Along with Grace Slick the best singer in Jefferson Starship/Airplane
Thank you for giving hope to the rest of us that we might lose our youth, but that doesn't necessarily mean we lose everything that matters. Holy hell, he's still got it!
I still have Grace Slicks Blue Tambourine when they played at Richie Coliseum in Maryland university. She didn't know it when missing until they got to the next city. That was in January 1982. Grace had just rejoined the band....long story..I was only 18 at the time.
I swear I thought he died - from a news feed...and said this must be a old show...glad I am wrong... Jane -I played cranked going to Ottawa a couple yrs ago early morning...
I had no idea Mickey could still sing like that! Wow! Nice loud and proud bass! I didn't know that Aragorn (LOTR) could also play some killer guitar. 🗡️
Ya Mick Thompson.. he's always been a great singer... The voice in the music still there I just wish the sound could have been a little bit better on this recording but he still sings Like a Bird 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Okay, I just saw Jefferson Starship last week. None of these people were on stage. They were on tour with Brett Michaels. They sounded way better than these guys. What’s up with that? Do they have different line ups for this band? The guy who sang Jane was an original Airplane member. He is 85. Couldn’t believe how good he sounded. It wasn’t this guy.
Craig and Mickey are both playing in small venues. I'd bet they'd make a killing if they played together. I'm not a historian of this band, so I don't know if there's a reason. Let's be real, the band's a mess, but I've always attributed that to the Airplane days of Slick, Balin, and Kanter.
Been seeing Micky Thomas since his Elvin Bishop days....Having seen Jefferson Starship near 40 times i never was a fan of him in that band...Liked the Band much more before him and even after him....Marty Balin he is not...Not a fan of him stealing the Starship name either ....At least cant call this band anything Jefferson has Kantner won that right in court...These guys sound no better than a tribute band at best....
Well Mickey came on after they changed there name from Airplane to Starship. Ummmm...who else is an original member? His voice is shot... Come on Grandma and Grandpa eat your 'member berries.
Great job firing Stephanie Calvert, because random girl in costume hitting cowbell is just so much better ! No desire to see you in concert again. Man of questionable character.

Me pasó lo mismo, estoy gratamente sorprendido de su calidad vocal.
Mickey Thomas is the bomb
Still sounds incredible. Definitely one of the greatest singers ever. The cream of the crop!!!!!!
Mickey has always been so damned underrated. Saw him in 18’ and I was blown away and here 5 years later he’s still got it.
He's still got a fantastic voice.!😊
Great voice and performance. He's still got it!
I assume when you say "He's still got it", you mean herpes right? Because this performance is not only embarrassing for the performer, but the people there who actually paid money to see this train wreck.
Really?? You should have your ears checked.
I remember watching Starship on The Show Friday's back in the early 80s.
Still amazing! His voice is awesome!!!!!!
OMG this is incredible to see! They still rock, big time!
One of the greatest rock vocal tracks to have ever been recorded. He pulls it off in the original key.
Mickey Thomas is a legend.
Man - he still gets WAY UP THERE! Not bad... l mean Phillip Bailey & Peter Cetera CAN NOT hit those high notes anymore
Yep , there's solid F above high C.
Robert Plant gave up a 1/2 octave at least,

Good Job on a Great song that I grew up with.
I was in 6th grade and bought this Album for an early birthdat presesnt to myself from my paper route . GREAT JOB H.S. Happy New Years !

I saw Mickey at the NYS Fair last summer. Great Show!! Freedom At Point Zero is an underrated album!!!
I swear I thought he died - from a news feed...and said this must be a old show...glad I am wrong... Jane -I played cranked going to Ottawa a couple yrs ago early morning...
@@davidrynberk1533 The rest of the Album is great as well. Fading lady Light, the title track etc
@@spuds6423 thank you- talented by far
My cousin played with Mickey in a high school band in their hometown of Cairo Georgia.
MICKEY THE GREAT ONE! KICKIN' IT RIGHTEOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW
Good to be ALIVE ❤❤
Man, the guitar player was cool as hell back then. He still is!
It’s incredible that Mickey Thomas can pull this off like this at his age. He just sounds amazing. I’ve seen him many times throughout the years.
This brother defies all vocal odds, and wales like nobody's business. Two Memphis boys Killin it as well, John lead guitar and Jeff on Bass.
I had no idea Mickey could still sing like that! Wow! Nice loud and proud bass! I didn't know that Aragorn (LOTR) could also play some killer guitar. 🗡️
Pretty damned good for a rocker in his 70's, wow!
Georgia boy, too! Counts for a touch!
Cowbell, I need it.
The chick with the cowbell kinda reminds me of Elaine Benes from Seinfeld...A full body dry heave set to music!!! SWEET FANCY MOSES!!!
Still got those pipes
Fk yeah!
Can you say 🔥🔥🔥🔥 fire🚒?
dino jelusick rocks this song.
Hey...that's the other guitar player from Winger!!
What were you using to record this?
The Mickey's channel was too low
in the mix (not your fault) the recorded
sound is really good for 'live' .
Awesome!! However, I got a fever, baby.... more cowbell!!!!
A great deep recording of bass tones. The board mix/stage monitors may mislead some to underestimate Mickey’s vocal strengths to some degree
one of my all time favorites....just needs more cowbell.....
Why the cowbell 😂 They sound badass still. What a song.
Can't wait to see them In Greece NY !
Mickey is a force of nature...
I got a FEVAH! And the only prescription..is MORE COWBELL!!! 🤣 Nice to see that Mickey's still got most of his range.
Can we get Will Ferrell on that cowbell ?
Mickey can still bring it for sure. Would like to see him and the surviving members of "Jefferson" Starship patch it up and reform one band.
I've always liked Jefferson Starship more than Jefferson Airplane ✈️
Song needs some more cow bell. General Bualkhalter is doing a good job on the drums though!
😂😂😂😂
That deserves another 😂😂😂😂 as I'm still laughing at the General Bualkhaltee comment.
Mickey's still got it.
Other than Mickey (who sounds great) are there any original (or close to original) members up there?
There are original members in the other band that tours as Jefferson Starship.
No
Song seems much faster than previously performed..
Jabba on drums ..?
Cian and that cow bell... ohh man.
Could use more cowbell ! Good though.
Well played!
Gut hanging out Like Ferrell
Mickey didn't get the memo. Old rockers are supposed to lose their voice.
Who’s playing guitar
John Roth
I have a fever and the only cure is more cowbell
Mickey's still got it but still need Grace.
Still singing like a killer. I don't understand how he can sing like this. Is it genetics?
Mickey Thomas made them famous, really famous. Grace slick can’t sing without the help of studio production
Atleast that is Mickey.
Not a substitute singer.
Where's Stephy?
I got a fever…and the only cure, is more COWBELL!
Excuse me I mean Mickey Thomas
A little more Cow Bell .....
More cowbell

Where's Grace?🤔
hiding out in Marin County !!! 🤣🤣
Good Grief... Grace is 83 years old in 2023.
@@robertmasi9955Same as Ringo
Grace retired from rock.
She's been retired many yrs. I rank her as a great singer.

Well, at least Micky's Starship is better than David Freiberg's current version of Jefferson Starship.
Is Grace Slick dead?
No.
you’re on the internet. look it up ffs.
Really??? You made him sound like shit!!!! That song is all about time. Wat too fast!!!! All the other musicians are amateur
Can do without that spaz on the cowbell
Band sound tight but his voice is a shocker 🙄
Why the eye roll
Without Grace Slick their nothing!
