Portland center Greg Oden will likely miss the season after fracturing his left knee cap during a game against Houston on Saturday night. Oden will undergo surgery, the Trail Blazers said.
I was with my little brother when the injury happened. When Greg went down he started crying. It was heartbreaking to watch Young Greg who hasnt even shown his full potential go down once more.
Man I feel so sorry for him. In one of his interviews he called himself the biggest bust in NBA history. I say he's not a bust...He just never got the chance. The busts are guys like Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison...If Greg would of had a healthy career he would of broken records. The guy was an absolute tank...His physical gifts were scarier than Lebron James. Those knees though.
@@100spurs nah he's not a bust. When he was on the court he was averaging 11-9-2.3 in just 24 minutes a game. Those are some respectable stats. And yes, you are excluded if you are injured
greg if you ever read this, you were 100% never a bust, i watched you come into the league and everyone saw your talent, be proud of yourself man!! we all love ya
You can love him and recognize his talent and unfair injury luck, but he was still a bust. Especially since KD went #2. That’s ok - more to life than basketball
If anyone was wondering, just the way Oden landed was what caused his injury. Just like Kevin Ware. That's why you often see big men with knee and leg injuries, because when they jump and land sometimes if they land the right way, all their weight hurts the joint/bone.
Definitely not the way he landed. If you watch closely you see that he raises his knee and grabs it before he hits the floor. He landed on his right foot.
There's no collision needed to fracture the knee cap. Just by landing, an awkward landing can really damage knees or ankles really badly. In Oden's case, he is a 285 lbs guy landing awkwardly on a very tiny tendons and acl which supports the bone structure. But oden is heavy landing on those knees, that's why u often see big guys with bad legs.
I Eat Pears They got Lillard by trading Gerard Wallace for the Nets pick, I believe. So they could’ve still done that pick and landed ROTY Lillard to play with Prime Oden, Roy and Aldridge
I can't help but feel sorry for this guy. I too know how it feels to be consistently injured while playing b-ball. But of course, I'm not a professional basketball player in the NBA with millions of dollars invested in me and everyone calling me a bust cuz I was the #1 pick. Life is tough for Greg Oden
People just don't seem to get it. Greg Oden is a superstar in everything Portland needs him to be. The injuries are so unfortunate. Pretty sick people seem to be waiting to get their shots in when Oden gets hurt. He's still the same person whether he plays basketball or not. He is a really good kid.
Man what did he do to deserve this? Feel bad for him to this day, just hope that’s he’s happy man. Greg, if your reading this just know we all love you man
At the time is made sense who would you get a 7 foot muscular monster or a tall skinny bony dude, Who knows Greg Oden could have been a hall of famer someone like shaq
who is to say if greg is better or kevin is better the fact of the matter is that he got injured. who knows he could have been the next shaq we will never find out.
Shaun smeby I wouldn't say he doesn't know anything. Greg and Kevin were BEASTS, the only difference is Greg got injured. Greg isn't better obviously, but just look at the 2 scouting reports on them, they were inseparable.
Jackson McDonald greg was a beast in ohio state. No way i can dispute that but kevin durant was never a low post guy. He is a slashing jump shooter. 2 different skill sets. In terms of college talent i completely agree. Once the rookie season started the difference couldn't have been more glaring.

Man this is sad he could've been good but it was all because of constant injuries had superstar potential but bad luck plagued him this guys tough to withstand all that may God be with him
The thing about Oden is that his injuries are devastating and long lasting despite there not being much excessive or awkward force applied to him. Blake Griffin blew out his leg a similar way, but he's only out for 6-8 weeks. Kevin Love broke his foot, and he's back already and playing well. All Oden did was jump to block a shot, and he's out for the season. If he had landed awkwardly, or someone rammed into him I might understand. But this is worrying, all he did was jump. Poor guy, poor team
