Hey Guys,
What a shame that Greg Oden didn't pan out because of injury?
Crazier that Kevin Durant became a legend...What if Oden didn't have two different sized legs?
Thoughts & Opinions...
Let me know what you guys want to see next?
- M I K E
Blazers deserve to be laughed at for choosing Bowie over Jordan but not for drafting Oden over Durant.
as a blazers fan this makes me feel a sliver better
What if Oden and Roy never got injured?
Mike Korzemba do a what if Greg Oden never had two different sized legs with 2k simulations. You can use @xvclutchoz for the roster. Hit me a message on Instagram and I can tell what you should do with Greg Oden if you were to do that. 👍🏼
Guys, even if he did did pan out, do you really think he would be better than KD? Would he win MVP? Or carry his team to a championship? I don't think so because the NBA was transitioning from dominant big men in that time, big mistake by the Blazers, this is just as bad as Portland selecting Bowie over MJ, cause with Clyde Drexler they had an excuse in 1984, but none in 2007.
Mike is so convincing he can convince me that a cup of Milk has more potential than Bronny
Bronny is trash. There are already like 15-20 players his age that are better than him. He is just popular bc he Bron's son.
Jack Klnet but look at the cup of Milk. It never misses a shot, is one of the strongest drinks in its class, and is overall a solid player.
Jack Klnet so only 15-20 players being as good or better than him makes him trash...?
Jack Klnet the thing is his potential and improvement is insane. Give him 2 years
Jack Klnet shittin me
Mike be like : The ONLY players to average 19 ppg, 4 ast, and 3.5 rebs while shooting 45% from FG on Atleast 9 attempts on a Tuesday night in November while wearing white shoes are Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and .... *TJ WARREN*

GREG ODEN! I feel bad about how his career ended, at least he fell on his feet and is still apart of the game.

Never forget that Oden Roy and Aldridge were 50-12 when they all played together
Aidan Chow add Lillard to that team and you’ve got urself a dynasty.
KennyD even without lillard they are easily a dynasty because they had nick batum in his prime almost as well
@@gaswvtv1400 nick batum was a good player, but nowhere near lillard.

The Dude824 no shit Sherlock
I had micro fracture surgery when I was 23ish.. I could pretty easily dunk and was fairly athletic. Micro fracture surgery is no fucking joke. I cannot even explain to you the difference in explosion. I went from feeling like 10ft rim was like..really low (I know this sounds weird now but I'm getting there) to after the surgery when looking at the rim of same height to honestly looking like it's 2ft higher. It's insane..your brain will like literally correct itself for your new un-athleticism. It will see that 10ft hoop and basically send warning signs that "you can't do that anymore". I could of course still jump and grab the rim..but I couldn't come close to dunking. For people who think once you're grabbing rim you're close to dunking....It's more like..when you can start to grab rim you have another 6-8 inches to go. I had a pretty serious ankle and foot injury before...and that shit didn't take away from my vertical at all...In fact somehow I came back from that surgery and was able to jump higher...But microfracture surgery..I now don't understand how ANYBODY ever comes back from that looking anything like they use to. But most don't anyway... TLDR: Microfracture surgeries are the worst.

You can’t blame Portland in picking Greg oden over KD, remember they already had Aldridge and Brandon Roy for the scoring they needed defense and KD isn’t an elite defender like Oden was and could’ve been, he was a complete freak athlete it made sense and the only reason it went wrong was because of his injuries
And he was a better impact player than KD
Great pick, just injury prone..
Not in the bust conversation at all
Greg Oden is one of those players I'm sad we never really got to see what he was capable of.
And Derrick rose
iamlatsku we did. In college 😂
Rehana Nabi and drose won an mvp at 22 😂 don’t matter what injuries you have. Ya game before those injuries is what you are judged on.
At least we got a glimpse of how good prime Rose is gonna be back in 2010-2012. Oden never got to show what he was fully capable of in the NBA. Really unfortunate.
he was great in hs we went to the same school
Bro THANK YOU everyone be taking about Greg oden like he was just some bum that got taken ahead of KD but he was 100% worthy of the pick and he always had the talent and ability but injuries just but fkd him an his career
Oden looked 30 years old in highschool...when i first saw him I asked where is his kid....didnt know it was him
....
LMFAO
Lol 30 years old wont look like that he looks like 50 actually
It’s so sad injuries can just ruin a players career I remember watching odens highlights in college and I thought he was going to be the Hakeem Olajuwon
Dude looked like a 35 year old in high school 😭
💀💀💀💀
JT Vickery that’s probably his grows pert and “(puberty)”
I thought he was Lebron's uncle
@@JacobParkYusuk Oden is actually LeBron's dad.
😂😂😂😂
I’m glad he didn’t call him a bust
technically, he was, but Oden is clearly a case of 100% unfortunate circumstance. most busts are just mentally weak and lazy (anthony bennett) but with oden he clearly showed to be the opposite of both. still a bust tho, however he went downhill
@@samwescoat5750
You can't be a bust if your injured..
Unless you say he literally bust (a knee)
Was Len Bias a bust?
Derek Rose got hurt...is he a buss?
@@d.balbas6952 derrick rose won mvp in his SECOND year in the nba before going downhill. he already proved to everyone that he was a star player. greg oden didn't do shit and he never showed us anything even though he had three years to play in the league. whether that was his fault or not is debatable, but he is definitely a bust. and let's be honest here, greg oden wouldn't have been as good as kd is now. kd is literally unguardable, and is arguably the best offensive player of all time.
@@sammylam1649
But get what I mean...
Oden is bigger BUST than Flynn. Jonny Flynn played full season 82 games
5 blocks in his first college games? Damn he playing like my 2k player

I hope dame wont go the same path as his predecessors
Gj Lipana damn 8 years in, DONT wanna jinx anything but I think he’ll be cool
Knock on wood jay, you done jinxed it. Injury coming soon
Gj Lipana jr he did get injured during that all star break this year giving his spot to Booker. But I think he recovered just before the quarantine. Hopefully no more injuries in the future for dame.
Lillard ain't no bust
Oden would’ve been an all time great if it weren’t for his injuries smh
Great video! It was a shame we missed out on what could have been, but it's even a bigger shame Greg Oden missed out on it. Tons of respect to you for doing this video. He deserves some love for what he was. He wasn't a bust, just injuries.
Then reason he was a “bust” was because one leg was longer then the other and he had a lot of injuries. But if those 2 things never happened and his legs were normal, he would’ve been the next Shaq, or Bill Russell
He played most of his second season... He didn't look anything like shaq
No way, more like a slower Gobert.
1/2 savage Not like Shaq, but he was a back to the basket center. Those are starting to become rare.
Have you seen his college and high school games? He could’ve have been a star.
@@TheConcernedSum7 Did you even watch the video? His 3/4 sprint was 3.27... Gobert's is 3.57.... How is he slower?
Ya I'm pretty sure oden was like 30 and in his prime when he was in highschool, so makes sense he started to fall apart by the time he got to the nba
Cause Kevin Durant was built like a stick of liquorice in college and oden was a beast when before injuries
That sums up the other half.
I remember how he was laughed at as the weakest player EVER to do the NBA combine and supposedly he had never worked out at all before...literally couldn't do one pull up, one rep of a bench press, etc.
@@SpeedOfThought1111 hoopers hoop.
@@SpeedOfThought1111 nba scouts and front office people are paid good money to see things that you and me cannot....kd is probably going to end up as a top 10 player of all time...
@@thunderhammer593 geez i wasn't bashing him as a player at all...everybody knows he's amazing...just saying i agreed with OP that he was "built like a stick of liquorice" before he started lifting weights...it didn't take a pro scout to see that KD had a lot of potential
Greg Oden and Mike Conley went to Lawrence North High School, not North Central High School
Only because Lawrence North poached him from Terre Haute South 🤷
Never knew they went to high school in Indiana
Right....Eric Gordon went to North Central
Teague went to pike, mcroberts Carmel, hill broadripple. Early 2000s ihsaa basketball seemed pretty good
The titled grabbed my attention
hope you enjoy my dude!!
3:36 Pretty sure Greg Oden went to my school Lawrence North and not North Central. But I can be wrong. Like your videos still. Keep up the grind
He did go to lawrence north
Yep
I can't express how genuine your smile was when you drank that coffee
not gonna lie that coffe was amazing,
Mike could make an avocado sound like it deserves the first pick in the NBA draft 😂
Love your vids, Mike! I played against both Conley and Oden (among others) in High School, and they were a force. Just a small correction, they played at Lawrence North, not North Central. However, North Central is also a powerhouse in Indy (Eric Gordon played there)
Greg had a rare issue that many young players don’t have. He developed so quickly that his body started breaking down from size and use at an early age.
When LeBron was on the Heat I used to tune into some of the games and I would spot Greg Oden on the bench low-key looking like LeBron in 10+years
Damn....just imagine the duo between Greg Oden and Brandon Roy....that would´ve been like watching the reincarnation of Penny and Shaq
And LaMarcus Aldridge
And Dame and CJ
@@SMoneyB96 Wouldn't have been able to get them if they were healthy
@@DeathofTakeo Honestly, I think at that time being a Portland would've been pretty rough......
@@kylethomas2993 Maybe it's just karma that was sent by Black Jesus Jordan on why Sam Bowie was selected before him
Blazers went 50-12 when Greg Oden, Aldridge and BRoy were all on the court.. us blazer fans have no souls left in us
You touched on the concerns people had with Durant. The skill was there, but scouts and GM's were worried he wouldn't put on the weight to be able to handle the physical grind. He also couldn't handle the bench press exercise during his work out.
So a supposedly 6'9 wing that was too slow to play the 3 and too weak to play the 4 or the monster center that could come into the league and contend for DPotY.
I’m probably one of the few that thought Durant was the better prospect. I remember watching him ball out in the McDonalds game. Then I saw him play at Texas and be just as great. I also thought that someone with that height and versatility was rare and better. I also know a little about physical therapy. Oden having different size legs meant knee and/or back problems his entire career. I said the same about Jared Sullinger, who has the same issue. I did not predict the foot issues though. People may not believe me, but I called it. Being from the Midwest, this was not a popular opinion, but I stuck with it
he was clearly a better prospect. The league just have a obsession on a big man with good body and athleticism. KD is a very very unique athlete but the scouts are dumb because they thoughts his frail body cant handle the Nba. KD literally almost swept Evey single individual awards in college and they still had Oden #1 LOL
@@drewmark3549 KD was the first freshman to win ALL the player of the year awards. I think scouts were enamored with how good Oden was when he came back from that wrist injury, even though he didn’t look like he was 100% healed. I also remember wondering why it was even a question of who should have been the first pick that year. The red flags with Oden should have made him fall in the draft and that isn’t hindsight. Those team doctors that evaluated him had to know about the great potential injury with him, even he hand not had a major knee issue yet. NBA basketball is way more punishing on the joints than any other level of professional basketball
Can we just acknowledge Grayson Allen guarding him at 3:52 😂🤣
Thats not grayson allen. Grayson Allen was 11 when Oden was drafted.
@@saucesb.z.i4907 😂😂😂
I honestly think he would've worked out if it weren't for the whole different sized legs thing. He was very quick and strong and even had a little shooting in his game. Kevin Durant was also very weak. This is not an understatement, go ahead and look it up. This was a league where strength still mattered a lot. Also durant's defense was called into question, everyone knew that oden was very good at defense. (Also Kevin Durant said he was 6'7 or 6'9 so he could play small forward, so the whole height thing wasn't taken into account)
I remember watching Greg Oden play against Florida in the National Championship. I was 8 years old then. I just remember how amazed I was watching him in that game. It really is a shame that G.O. didn’t have the long NBA career everyone thought he was going to have. He would have been a legend.
If he had stayed injury free he'd have been worth that pick, easily
He look like shaq and lebron combined 💀
I need NBA back

you and me both man, i just want them to sim to playoffs lowkey
@@MikeKorzemba If they did a 2k sim, some team like Orlando would win.
A lot of people call Oden a bust, but he wasn’t. His career was cut short due to injury, not lackluster play on the court.
Mike: Greg Oden was born to play basketball
Me: Oh yeah? That's not what his longer leg said to his shorter leg.
lmao facts
Don't quote me on this, but I'm fairly certain he wasn't born with different sized legs. He had an undiagnosed injury for too long which made his legs that way.

Greg was the next great big man. If healthy he would have been a HOF'er. He had 13 points, 20 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 4 BLOCKS the game before his injury in Dec 2009. This man would make Joel Embiid cry. All you need to know about how good Greg was was finding the video of his first NBA points. An offensive rebound, and pivot step to 2 HANDED JAM vs the Miami Heat in MIAMI in the 08/09 season. ODEN was a bigger Bill Russel.

My dad had a similar issue, where he had uneven legs after a serious leg injury as a kid. Even if it’s minuscule, that little difference causes so many problems and so many further injuries.

Despite everything Oden has been through, what's good to see is that he's not done with basketball, case in point his joining the BIG3 league. Pretty awesome.
Greg Iden was supposed to be in the ‘06 draft, Raptors were supposed to get him. It was because of that high school rule change that the NBA implemented which resulted in the Raptors taking Bargnani n Oden not having much of a career.
