He wins every fight every time. B all but kills Sasuke twice while fighting all of taka, and even counters amatarasu and Minato makes fun of the A-B combo. He doesn't break a sweat fighting one of the strongest shinobi alive and the strongest jinchüriki. None of them stand a chance
Minato straight up washes any character in the Naruto manga except for normal Madara, Hashirama and six path characters. Love him or hate him, he is in fact THAT guy. I do think that Kishimoto’s intent with the oneshot manga was to firmly establish Minato as being in the top tier of the verse and at the very least capable enough as a shinobi to fight competitively against others in his tier (Madara and Hashirama). On a side note, one of the things most people point out as an anti-feat for Minato is that he has no durability feats. This is interesting because up until the war arc no one has shown to even land a single hit on him. It took six paths characters to actually tag this guy, that’s how high the bar is set. So by default there’s barely to no durability to measure but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t survive strong hits. Case in point is the oneshot manga where he didn’t die from being impaled by Kurama.

The only one who can fight without looking his opponent directly in the eyes is Guy, something Minato can't do. Furthermore, Itachi can create an illusion even just by pointing at you, or touching you, so it's not just the eye contact that matters. Minato’s speed is comparable to the high tiers of the Naruto verse only beacuse of flying Raijin but without it he’s not so fast and with his body flicker he’s slower than Shisui, who’s stated to be the best body flicker user and so better than minato without ftg. The same Itachi trained his all youth with Shisui and in the novel it is stated that while sparring Itachi won several times against Shisui even though Shisui won even more times than Itachi. So Itachi can perfectly deal with fast people (Shisui who has better body flicker than Minato) and win via statements and feats in the novel. The same Itachi was stated to be the pinnacle of his clan while not even awakening his mangekyo so he’s stated to be above Fugaku Who was a rival to Minato for the position of Hokage. Then like I said Minato to kill his opponents uses mainly the flying Raijin with his kunai. Like he did against Obito or agianst Killer Bee and Ay. And that’s consistent since to kill someone Minato needs to teleport near him and the simplest way is to throw the kunai near the opponent and then teleport. So the flying Raijin techinque depends for the majority on the skills of the person in kunai and shuriken jutsu. Itachi is stated and shown through the entire manga to be the best user of kunai and to deflect kunai like it’s nothing with his eyes closed or to blitz Nagato’s summining’s vision with Kabuto admitting he’s the best. So Itachi can just deflect all of Minato’s kunai since he’s stated to be better than anyone in kunai and so better than Minato. Yeah minato can mark other things but it would be useless since the main victory factor comes from blitzing the opponent with his kunai. To assume that Minato can kill Itachi without his kunai we have to concede the fact that Minato has prep time and so an advantage. But we are talking about a fight where neither Minato or Itachi have an initial advantage. Like minato would not have any time to mark trees or other things. The only way that he could is that Itachi let him do so, but that would never happen. Then in the fight against killer bee, minato gets behind him but killer bee succeded in reacting to him by pointing at him his sword. So even though minato teleported behind him, killer bee was still able to react to him and he didn’t got blitzed. That shows that if minato teleports behind or near Itachi, he can react to him like Killer bee did cause itachi has better speed and reaction speed than Killer bee. Without a doubt he can react to minato the same way bee did. So Itachi could counter the ftg with his kunai mastery and then he could also react to minato thanks to his reaction speed being superior to that of Killer bee. Then if Minato’s throw Kunais in several locations in the battlefield, Itachi can just set on fire some of those locations with his amaterasu making Minato unable to teleport to those points. Then the Ems Sasuke being above Itachi is contradicted by the Kabuto fight where Itachi showed in every aspect better feats than Sasuke. He was holding back to protect him the whole fight, guiding him and while also preparing the stages for the activation of izanami. Than Itachi in the databook statement says that he recognize Sasuke as his equal but that could just mean that he doesn’t see him like the little brother who needs protection but instead a skilled ninja like him who can cooperate and help him, more like a status thing. It’s also stated that with ems, Sasuke techniques and eye techiniques surpassed his own brother. For the eye techinque is referring to basic sharingan an mangekyo genjutsu but not to tsukuyomi who’s stated to be the strongest genjutsu by zetsu then for techinques we have taijutsu and ninjutsu. So Sasuke surpasses Itachi only in these aspectes and not in speed, battle iq, intelligence, tsukuyomi ecc…And especcially by feats in the Kabuto fight itachi is shown superior in combat than ems Sasuke, Itachi was shown more faster, reacting better to kabuto’s attacks, protecing Sasuke, telling him what to do, and all of that while suppressing his power and while preparing all the stages for the activation of izanami. So yeah ITACHI WINS.

Minato is so impressive he could take on the alliance. He's a legend. A true prodigy. He still loses to 3t Itachi though. Not a denigration on him, Itachi is objectively the most broken character in the series. And we haven't even seen him at his best.
I think based on their Academy feats and progression through the ranks they are pretty even. Itachi was only held back by his sickness and he still wanted to die by hands of Sasuke. Minato and Itachi are my top 2 favorites but we have never seen Itachi go all out even as a Edo Tensei. You could say the closest we see was in the Naruto fight but he wrapped it up pretty quickly and acted as the lead between Killer B and KCM Naruto. I wished they would have met and fought alongside each other but I fear not many would be a match for them combined. They would be playing chess on a checker board.
Naruto has a better Sage Mode than Minato because MINATO says he's "not that good at it?" But Minato ALWAYS downplays himself. You can't take his statements about himself as fact.

Naruto definitely is better at Sage Mode than Minato. Minato is a perfect Sage, yes. But he can only maintain it for a few seconds. You can't really call that mastering the technique.

Minato also wasnt "The Strongest" nor is it a title that goes to being "the strongest shinobi" as Fugaku (Sasuke's father) was also up for Hokage. Hokage is PURELY political, as Danzo, Tsunade, Kakashi and Shikamaru (currently acting Hokage) were/are not the strongest ninja in the village...

Minato can easily invade the whole ninja world through pre-placed kunai but i believe once the stage where hes wiping out people without anyone knowing is over, invading the cloud with multiple people only slightly weaker than him may be an issue
I think what folks love about Minato is that he’s the ninja’s ninja. Fast and deadly, stealthy, and cunning. He may not have been as much of a force of nature as Hashirama, but his speed and cunning might place him ahead in a battle to the death. I don’t think we’ve seen enough speed/reaction feats from Hashirama to know if he could handle Minato, though both are insanely powerful. It should be noted that alive minato was weaker than war arch Minato, though, as alive Minato didn’t have Kurama.

Minato was 24 when he died. Hashi reach his prime, Madara reach his prime, Tobirama was at max 3 years or 2 years younger than Hashi, so basically Tobirama was quite old and reach his prime during his decision to died, Hiruzen reach his Prime, Third Raikage Reach his prime, Jiraiya, Orochi, Tsunade and too many to mention, even Fugaku was 40. Both Itachi and Minato died during their early 20's, sure Itachi having his bloodline and kekkei genkai and crazy brain should be able to improve his power, but on the other hand, Kurama stated that Minato at 15/16 was already on par to Hashirama in terms of sealing jutsu and chakra controlling. It was stated that Minato was much more respected compared to Jiraiya in Myoubokuzan. Before his dead, Minato already mastered Hiraishin and improved it to the point of Rasen Senkou Chourinbu which Minato himself confident that its speed was enough to harm or distract Juubi Obito, not to mention other Hiraishin defense variant like Guiding Thunder that even Juubi Bomb couldn't bypass it. Minato can summon toads, Minato at 24 mastered Sennin Mode in the level of Pain Arc Naruto, but for a short period of time. Minato at 24 mastered sensory skill, almost similiar to that of Tobirama. Nah man he loses badly. At best he takes out the less prominent and weaker characters like say Kiba, Shikamaru, Shino, Kankuro and etc. But the more prominent people are either a big problem or it just is a straight up loss. I’d argue even Sakura would beat Minato at this point. All of the kage are out of his league, they could fight otsutsuki (kinshiki) which was the ceiling for any non six path person back in shippuden. Minato died too early. Had he lived longer then he would clear the villages in Boruto era. Hokage Naruto believed that.

Unpopular opinion: minato>hashirama in a 1v1. Obv hashirama is more versatile and way more powerful in terms of scale, but he can't put a finger on minato. Minato's ap is also likely high enough to kill hashirama, as seen in the one shot. His defenses are mainly healing and giant structures; you cut off his head and he still dies.
Definitely an unpopular opinion but in reality not crazy to believe. Regardless of whether Minato could actually defeat Hashirama, the main thing is that fights are not purely about “big megazord super duper attack potency power”. Some of the strongest characters in the story died from attacks with simple swords or kunai. Orochimaru even chastized Tsunade with her infinite healing by saying she’d still die if he lopped her head off. Those happen to be the type of killing blows Minato instantly goes for.

Sage mode gives better perception and reaction but perceiving doesn't mean you can move fast enough to dodge. If Sage Naruto uses all his might to dodge a FTG + attack combo from Minato, what's he gonna do to the 2nd step? Minato can simply teleport then attack again in a different angle. Sage Naruto beat 3rd Raikage because 3rd has a straightforward attack and is slower than Ay and Minato. Frog Kumite *might* tag Minato once but once Minato knows about it he won't fall for it again.

It’s not crazy for him to say that. For example most people believe white mask obito can contest with kcm2 Naruto. A lot of people believe he is equal or close to normal Madara. Yet we see Kakashi do a straight up 1v1 against this Obito and being equal if not stronger. Things like that are what form those beliefs. That said war arc scaling has inconsistencies with several characters in my opinion.

Itachi, being certainly with evidence and statements the best in this, he would have no problem deflecting the kunai thrown by Minato. In some battles, Minato throws kunai scattered across the battlefield to create a favorable scenario for the use of the flying Raijin. To counter this, Itachi could use amaterasu to make the points where the kunai are stuck unusable. minato is not immune to genjutsu and tsukuyomi and if he does what he's done in the fight against obito i.e. look his opponent in the eyes then it would be over for him. The only one who can fight without looking his opponent directly in the eyes is Guy, something Minato can't do. Furthermore, Itachi can create an illusion even just by pointing at you, or touching you, so it's not just the eye contact that matters. Minato’s speed is comparable to the high tiers of the Naruto verse only beacuse of flying Raijin but without it he’s not so fast and with his body flicker he’s slower than Shisui, who’s stated to be the best body flicker user and so better than minato without ftg. The same Itachi trained his all youth with Shisui and in the novel it is stated that while sparring Itachi won several times against Shisui even though Shisui won even more times than Itachi. So Itachi can perfectly deal with fast people (Shisui who has better body flicker than Minato) and win via statements and feats in the novel. The same Itachi was stated to be the pinnacle of his clan while not even awakening his mangekyo so he’s stated to be above Fugaku Who was a rival to Minato for the position of Hokage.
Then like I said Minato to kill his opponents uses mainly the flying Raijin with his kunai. Like he did against Obito or agianst Killer Bee and Ay. And that’s consistent since to kill someone Minato needs to teleport near him and the simplest way is to throw the kunai near the opponent and then teleport. So the flying Raijin techinque depends for the majority on the skills of the person in kunai and shuriken jutsu. Itachi is stated and shown through the entire manga to be the best user of kunai and to deflect kunai like it’s nothing with his eyes closed or to blitz Nagato’s summining’s vision with Kabuto admitting he’s the best. So Itachi can just deflect all of Minato’s kunai since he’s stated to be better than anyone in kunai and so better than Minato. Yeah minato can mark other things but it would be useless since the main victory factor comes from blitzing the opponent with his kunai. To assume that Minato can kill Itachi without his kunai we have to concede the fact that Minato has prep time and so an advantage. But we are talking about a fight where neither Minato or Itachi have an initial advantage. Like minato would not have any time to mark trees or other things. The only way that he could is that Itachi let him do so, but that would never happen. Then in the fight against killer bee, minato gets behind him but killer bee succeded in reacting to him by pointing at him his sword. So even though minato teleported behind him, killer bee was still able to react to him and he didn’t got blitzed. That shows that if minato teleports behind or near Itachi, he can react to him like Killer bee did cause itachi has better speed and reaction speed than Killer bee. Without a doubt he can react to minato the same way bee did. So Itachi could counter the ftg with his kunai mastery and then he could also react to minato thanks to his reaction speed being superior to that of Killer bee. Then if Minato’s throw Kunais in several locations in the battlefield, Itachi can just set on fire some of those locations with his amaterasu making Minato unable to teleport to those points. Then the Ems Sasuke being above Itachi is contradicted by the Kabuto fight where Itachi showed in every aspect better feats than Sasuke. He was holding back to protect him the whole fight, guiding him and while also preparing the stages for the activation of izanami. Than Itachi in the databook statement says that he recognize Sasuke as his equal but that could just mean that he doesn’t see him like the little brother who needs protection but instead a skilled ninja like him who can cooperate and help him, more like a status thing. It’s also stated that with ems, Sasuke techniques and eye techiniques surpassed his own brother. For the eye techinque is referring to basic sharingan an mangekyo genjutsu but not to tsukuyomi who’s stated to be the strongest genjutsu by zetsu then for techinques we have taijutsu and ninjutsu. So Sasuke surpasses Itachi only in these aspectes and not in speed, battle iq, intelligence, tsukuyomi ecc…And especcially by feats in the Kabuto fight itachi is shown superior in combat than ems Sasuke, Itachi was shown more faster, reacting better to kabuto’s attacks, protecing Sasuke, telling him what to do, and all of that while suppressing his power and while preparing all the stages for the activation of izanami. So yeah ITACHI WINS.

I think based on their Academy feats and progression through the ranks they are pretty even. Itachi was only held back by his sickness and he still wanted to die by hands of Sasuke. Minato and Itachi are my top 2 favorites but we have never seen Itachi go all out even as a Edo Tensei. You could say the closest we see was in the Naruto fight but he wrapped it up pretty quickly and acted as the lead between Killer B and KCM Naruto. I wished they would have met and fought alongside each other but I fear not many would be a match for them combined. They would be playing chess on a checker board.

I think what folks love about Minato is that he’s the ninja’s ninja. Fast and deadly, stealthy, and cunning. He may not have been as much of a force of nature as Hashirama, but his speed and cunning might place him ahead in a battle to the death. I don’t think we’ve seen enough speed/reaction feats from Hashirama to know if he could handle Minato, though both are insanely powerful.
It should be noted that alive minato was weaker than war arch Minato, though, as alive Minato didn’t have Kurama.

Hashi reach his prime, Madara reach his prime, Tobirama was at max 3 years or 2 years younger than Hashi, so basically Tobirama was quite old and reach his prime during his decision to died, Hiruzen reach his Prime, Third Raikage Reach his prime, Jiraiya, Orochi, Tsunade and too many to mention, even Fugaku was 40. Both Itachi and Minato died during their early 20's, sure Itachi having his bloodline and kekkei genkai and crazy brain should be able to improve his power, but on the other hand, Kurama stated that Minato at 15/16 was already on par to Hashirama in terms of sealing jutsu and chakra controlling. It was stated that Minato was much more respected compared to Jiraiya in Myoubokuzan. Before his dead, Minato already mastered Hiraishin and improved it to the point of Rasen Senkou Chourinbu which Minato himself confident that its speed was enough to harm or distract Juubi Obito, not to mention other Hiraishin defense variant like Guiding Thunder that even Juubi Bomb couldn't bypass it. Minato can summon toads, Minato at 24 mastered Sennin Mode in the level of Pain Arc Naruto, but for a short period of time. Minato at 24 mastered sensory skill, almost similiar to that of Tobirama. So giving Minato 10-15 more years would be absurdly crazy, i think Minato could reach the league of Hashirama and Madara but still quite inferior. At best he takes out the less prominent and weaker characters like say Kiba, Shikamaru, Shino, Kankuro and etc. But the more prominent people are either a big problem or it just is a straight up loss. I’d argue even Sakura would beat Minato at this point. All of the kage are out of his league, they could fight otsutsuki (kinshiki) which was the ceiling for any non six path person back in shippuden. Minato died too early. Had he lived longer then he would clear the villages in Boruto era. Hokage Naruto believed that.

Unpopular opinion: minato>hashirama in a 1v1. Obv hashirama is more versatile and way more powerful in terms of scale, but he can't put a finger on minato. Minato's ap is also likely high enough to kill hashirama, as seen in the one shot. His defenses are mainly healing and giant structures; you cut off his head and he still dies.
Definitely an unpopular opinion but in reality not crazy to believe. Regardless of whether Minato could actually defeat Hashirama, the main thing is that fights are not purely about “big megazord super duper attack potency power”. Some of the strongest characters in the story died from attacks with simple swords or kunai. Orochimaru even chastized Tsunade with her infinite healing by saying she’d still die if he lopped her head off. Those happen to be the type of killing blows Minato instantly goes for.

minato is capable of blitzing the full kurama who with only half strength could tag and gets called "fast" by sage naruto, even naruto at the end of the pain fight doesnt belive he surpassed minato (story cnoveying minato is above sage naruto via own admission) and even the obito that minato one tapped and held back to match his speed on purpose is stated above sage naruto with the idea of sage naruto coming out on top was out of the question and needed kurama...... Yet people belive sage naruto can be above minato even tho we already have a basis of naruto being a better sage which unlike the ladder doesnt get contradicted in every comparison between the two😭
