@gigasubhuman that's a super lazy take on R9. Don't juts stat harvest...watch his games or clips. Doesn't have to be in your top 20, but I think the poster covered it well. Peak R9 was unreal but injuries decimated his career.
@gigasubhuman I said games or clips because games are hard to come by now. i especially think you should watch the 47 goals in 49 games for Barca. Unreal. Again...yours is a super lazy take on a player who was different class between before injuries. World Cup Winner, 2 time Copa America Winner, European Golden Boot, 3 time FIFA World Player of the year and so much more for a career cut down by knee injuries. Just tap ins against rubbish teams in WC 02? Haha. I don't know what R9 did to you, but your opinion is your opinion...so long as you know you're in the minority...and rightly so.
yeah there both playing with suboptimal players and they are producing exactly nothing.. Best year of Ronaldo in PL saw him score 31 PL goals, however that season wa way above his average which was more like 15-20 PL goals a season. A flight to Madrid and he scores 40 LaLiga goals followed by 46 LaLiga goals.. Because he got better? Nope! Because it is eay easier scoring for either Real Madrid or Barcelona that apart form those two teams is a weak league.. If you enjoy 80-90% af ball possession it isn’t exacrly rocket science that you are bound to score a lot of goals. Benzema was more or less sub for Ronaldo, and wtih Ronaldo moved on, then Benzema wins Ballon D’or.. Go figure.. Messi back in the 80ies wouldn’t even stand a chance of avoiding permanent injuries with those tiny legs.. You can easily stack both of them into one of Maradonas legs😂

No matter how great this lists was, it’s incomplete without Ronaldinho… He was the main thing during his prime (not even Ronaldo or Messi) could have taken the spotlight…maybe only Messi could 😊
Messi could. The coach saw messi talent and didn't want Ronaldinho to ruin it with his off the pitch partying. So they kicked him out.(No hate to the great Ronaldinho).
The problem of footballers from Pele and before him is that there is so little to go by other than few B&W grainy footage, some stories written by opinions of writers of the time and maybe what a father, grandfather might have told you. All those opinions are subjective and anyone 65 or so down can only have an opinion of those players based on the stories they heard. Whereas from Maradona and onwards, there are billions of hours of footage of what players did and are doing today. For example, Maradonas 2nd goal v England in the World Cup, the only player that has done it has been Messi. Messi has done these types of goals where he goes past many players of the opposition, a few times. I don't recall Pele or anyone before him doing the same type of goal. So when someone says that Pele, Puskas or anyone else was better, my question is 'What evidence do you have to have that opinion?' cause I'm sure that they are going by The legend, not the facts.
@@tonytravert9944 With players from Pele's era, you can still use achievements like how Puskas had won 5 La Ligas and scored almost every game, or with di stefano and how he won 5 champions leagues in a row. Just because we haven't seen it doesn't mean it didn't happen, and that's why football fans rate modern players so high.
@@rhino_2832 No it happen, the records say so. What I'm saying is that people that haven't seen Pele, are adamant that he was the greatest because of what they read, or saw some of the few bits of footage OR are just going by what their fathers or grandfathers told them. How can anyone dismiss everything they have seen of Maradona or Messi, to say that Pele was better? It's ridiculous and it's usually based on bias. But that's ok! In regards to using the achievements of winning so many world cups, European Championships etc...That can be but it might not be accurate because you can have a player given credit for winning a competition merely on the fact that he was in the team. For example, Ronaldo is credited for having a Euro 2016 win, but he was taken off within 10 mins of the game so he practically had zero involvement and the trophy was won by a substitute. Here's another. What did Haarland do in the FA Cup final and the UCL final? Nothing! yet he is a UCL champion. What if Puskas, DiStefano or another didn't have a great game but the team won anyway It is also said a lot that Pele had some of the all time greatest Brazilian players in the world cups, whereas Maradona had a very ordinary team in 86 and while Messi had more recognised players in previous world cups, this 2022 world cup team were very much unrecognisable to the world so it was practically Messi with a bit of Di Maria plus 21 players who were not superstars like the French team, Portuguese team and others. Yet Messi got them through.
@@rhino_2832 The impressiveness of winning a title or trophy depends on the difficulty of it. We don't know how difficult it was back then vs now, so we can only assume unless you saw the matches for yourself.

Messi literally surpasses Maradona in everyway. Like literally every way. There is not a single stat, achievement or record that Messi isn't better at. I would put Cruyff at 4. Maybe personal preference of talent and football ability over stats and consistency, maybe the legendary impact he had on the game of football (higher than anyone probably) and the fact that he carried both club and country in the biggest stage (despite not winning the 1974 WC in the end).
@@afrobuddy4801 He did not but he did led them to a final and had an all time great WC tournament something that Cristiano never did. Maradona is the only player on this list who never played with great players in a great team . In fact he constantly played and excelled against top opponents. He went to Italy - maybe the toughest league in history- joined a forlorn Napoli and took them to two title wins. Both Pele and Messi benefited massively from playing in some of the greatest sides in history. It’s not hard to imagine Baca. Still winning many of their trophies minus Messi; his playing relationship with the likes of Iniesta , Xavi and Bousquet was central to His success. When you have players of the calibre of Henry or Ronaldinho distracting opponents and creating chances you’re gonna score a lot of goals- particularly in a league where many opponents seem to roll over. As for Pele - your comments are slightly misleading: Brazil did not have national league until 1972. In addition Pele’ contribution to Brazil’s World Cup history has been somewhat exaggerated: in 58 they were doing just fine without him, in 62 his contribution was negligible and in 70 it is far from outrageous to suggest both Jaizhno and Gerson were more important.
Maradona was exceptional. He lifted the average international team and club. He is famous for carrying the average team Napoli to the top in Italy. If his football career was long like pele he could be on 1st position in the list of GOATS. His dribbling ability was best. I have never seen any player like him. I would say Messi is like him. But in the context of leadership Maradona was a little bit ahead of Messi and Pele.
Yes I’m old enough to remember these fine players. But none could claim to be exceptional. Argentina were not obviously better than any of the quarterfinal teams in 86. Except for one player…
Zizou and R9 are top five bro, it’s not just about stats but how you play and the joy you bring fans all around the world. I would pay to watch Messi, Zidane, R9, Maradona, Pele, Cruyff and Rolnaldinho because of how they play.

Whatever your opinions of Cr7 are no one can deny he's the most polarizing player ever... When he retires people will realize the sheer versatility, quantity and quality of his goals. Say what you want about his technical ability (which is underrated) you can't name a single player who can score in more ways than him. He beats you in the air, he beats you with the ball, he beats you from 30 yards out, he beats you in a finishing the ball. Greatest goal scorer ever without a doubt imo

What a high standard video and an excellent comprehensive list. Superb. All 20 plus the honourable mentions is a perfect list. However in an unbiased manner, I would've placed Pele number 1 and Messi 2nd even if my personal favourites are legends like Maradona and CR7... The major reason I would have placed Pele above Messi is clear, whenever Pele played in a World Cup final whether it be as a youngster in 1958 or as a senior in 1970, he was outstanding and victorious. Pele was never defeated in a final whilst Messi was defeated in a World cup final against Germany in 2014. Yes Messi in Qatar 2022 was of course amazing where he finally won a World Cup deservingly but that 2014 World Cup, where Messi was excellent throughout the tournament but couldn't finish the job in the final tells us that this is not a player above Pele. In that 2014 final and a number of games while playing for Barcelona, Messi does occasionally have very quiet days like he was absent from the pitch, the same cannot be said of Pele, who always played like a champion on the pitch outshining team mates and opposition alike..... Pele is to football what Muhammed Ali is to boxing, they were champions as youngsters and seniors and were the pioneers in their professions that inspired many following generations. Also 2nd major reason, players like Pele and Maradona were trailblazers in the game whilst arguably Messi isn't a trailblazer in the sport, as many would argue without Maradona there would be no Messi. So much more can be said. Thanks for reading this far, if you have. Excellent video.
I dont think Pele is that higher,, it feels like Pele is more like Messi in older days. Pele played with the best teams in two WC( in 62 he didn't play due to injury but still got more credit than Garrincha shows the politics) In 58..his scoring was great but was performance legendary?? He missed ball two dozen times, he had almost average movements. In 70 too he was not the best ..and played with goat team .. Jarainzo, Tostao, Carlos Alberto, Rivellino,Gerson. It's like Messi in Barca, great team getting whole credit. I think Messi,Pele, Cruyff etc comes in one category. Best, Maradona, Dinho in other category. Cristiano joins more with goalscorers than these guys. When Diego won World Cup his team was just average. Also with Napoli the team became champions twice and runner up, uefa cup + others ...all from one point away from relegation. Diego is arguably the best ever. Then Pele , then Messi/ R9/ Stefano.
@@A49144-r Surely you read my comment right? Pele is not my personal favourite. But I was commenting for unbiased official standards. And I mentioned who my personal favourites are. I think the video is by a Messi fan who should have been unbiased and given that respect for Pele above Messi, like come on, seriously. Also I am fully aware the 1970 Brazil was a team work and without a doubt Pele was still magnificent and a core part of the build up throughout. Pele was still the most mentioned of all players among the critics of that 1970 World Cup. It was the mature Pele who adapted to the next generation and still was outstanding in 70. For 1962 no one would deny Garrincha as the best player of that World Cup, hence why I didn't mention 1962. Pele still contributed before he got injured in 62. However, Pele, the 17 year old teenager being the star in 58? You say he missed dozen chances, He was only 17, and probably someone like Owen in 1998 showed such similar spirit but still not a fraction of Pele. How far did Owen go, whilst Pele still was a champion by that age with a performance of a champion regardless, at 17. Also due to Pele, withdrawing in 66, it made a huge difference for Brazil, who knows if England, Germany or Portugal could've gone so far in 66 if Pele was not injured. Pundits still dwell on the question. Throughout the late 50s, across the whole of the 60s even up to early 70s, without exception, footballers of the time would praise Pele as the footballers footballer of such a long and significant period in football history. Could anyone dispute each of those legendary footballers who saw Pele as The footballlers footballer. However I agree with your top 5, and that order. You and I both recognise the unbelievable gift of Maradona. Maradona is my personal favourite, I grew up watching that magician and superstar of an era and I personally saw the impact Maradona he had in the 80s and the early 90s, even his popularity in 3rd world regions. I think the comparison of Maradona to Pele is quite similar to the comparison of Tyson to Muhammed Ali in the boxing world. Similar era too. A Pele or Ali from late 50s to mid 70s to the Maradona or Tyson at their peak in the 80s. Wonderful times... Regardless, I don't agree with Messi above Pele, that was my initial comment.

Imo maradona was comparable playmaking wise but messi is far superior as a goalscorer is not even close, actually pele compares better with messi than maradona because he did score 800+ goals like messi. Imagine if messi had scored 10 goals in a league season in his prime people would ridicule him not praise him, you can clearly see the different standards that are used to judge messi and others, messi needs to not only score also playmake, while maradona or cr7 can get away with doing one of those things and still be compared, there is no comparison but between messi and pele thats about it.

@@thegaminggrapes6126 "Maradona was midfielder and could pass and dribble better than anybody", well same can said about messi while he was playing false 9 and winger so he did that and scored goals at a rate which even pure strikers struggled match and you are claiming that the other players who played for Napoli were useless and had no contribution to the league win then you need to give stats to back that because scoring 10 goals is not carrying and certainly will not win you the league on its own, if Maradona had scored like 20-30 goals in a team like Napoli that would be impressive and worthy of term "carryjob" but it was not because serie was low scoring league they mostly concentrated on defense and Napoli had one of the best defense that season in which Maradona barely has contribution. And about messi, played beyond Xavi and Iniesta and played for terrible Barca teams as well starting 2018 and won the league 2 times(and almost won UCL on his own 2019) while scoring and assisting most of their goals, so that can be considered a carryjob more than what Maradona did for napoli

- Ronaldo 121 g+a in 3 seasons
- Messi 64 g+a in almost 2 seasons
Note I am not insulting Messi, I'm just saying you guys can't deny Ronaldo is a machine when it comes to goalscoring.
@@abdullahjavaid6695 Messi played about a hundred games less than Ronaldo but nearly scored as many goals as Ronaldo. It’s just a matter of time that Messi will be top 1 goal scorer in history if he wants. @@MarvelousSquad He didn't carry them to a title. Fifa did:) 6 pens in 7 games! Some of them so dubious like the one vs Poland and Croatia that makes that WC title so undeserving and tarnished. It's like they wanted Messi to have one before he retires. Don't forget he didn't manage to win Copa America as well until recently with probably the most talented squad in South America. Lost finals against much less talented sides such as Chile couple of times and had players like Aguero, Di Maria, Higuain, Lavazzi, Mascherano, Banega...for span of almost 10 years by his side. Also lost 2014 title to Germans. Practically on home soil. If it wasn't for this dubious Quatar title we would be talking about the biggest looser on International level out of all great players who ever lived.
Pele is clear No.1. Won International titles with ease. Only reason he has less shiny club trophies is due to the fact he never played in Europe!

4. Cr7
Pele played with farmers and got carried in WC no way he is even better than Maradona. And Messi cleared Maradona 2 years ago
I agree with you. Pele just did more and choked less.
A very logical and objective list.
Not much to argue for and debate.

The top 5 is spot on, although I still consider Pelé to be the best (but I’m Brazilian, so maybe I’m biased). Your top 10 has exactly the same players as mine except for one: Ronaldo. So yeah even if you placed Pele, Puskas, Cruyff, Maradona today and a bit older than Messi, they would win 3-5 Ballon D'Ors depending also on how their great years matched with Messi's great years.
2014 was not an off year for Messi. He carried his Argentina team to the finals.

Messi also carried Argentina and Barcelona to glory days. M
carried napoli by scoring 10 goals in serie a, that napoli team and the serie a at that time were based on defense not attack, so defenders get more credit than you give them, messi on other hand scored 91 goals in a year only to be compared to maradona using these nonsense carry arguments.

And about messi, played beyond Xavi and Iniesta and played for terrible Barca teams as well starting 2018 and won the league 2 times(and almost won UCL on his own 2019) while scoring and assisting most of their goals, so that can be considered a carryjob more than what Maradona did for napoli

Won the Golden boot on those 3 Leagues.
Its the Best goal scorer in football history,in UCl,FIFA WCT,by a National team, the only player to scored in 5 World Cups, etc, etc.
And one thing that many people tend to forget,he played 6 years on Manchester United as left winger, even than he scored 145 goals playing that position, like the Great Sir Alex Ferguson Said and quote " To see how Ronaldo its above from any other player, just see how many goals he scored, playing on the most difficult position on the pitch".
The most Hard Working,Dedicated,Powerfull and Spectacular football player of all Times.
And also the first football player to become a billionaire ( Forbes 2020)
And the the active Sports Athlete to sign the biggest contract in sports History.
Who knows Ronaldo's life story, makes even Greater his Greatness.
And he's not finish yet.
The Best Ever,without any Doubt.
But, he always will be the 2nd, no matter what he does. So, Cry harder😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@sadmanathien8776 2nd in what...????
Please tell me in what CR7 its Messi.. but ,please,ok .
Without the world cup,ok.
Just tell me. Because the One who's gonna cry its not me,i always cry for Ronaldo its when he scores another One of those special goals,an Hatrick or a póquer, like lately its happening.
But you are the expert,so again just tell me that ok..
@@sadmanathien8776by using "cry harder" I can say you just came here to trigger people without giving any decent reply back
@Andy Kurmann you like to talk,i can see that, but from football your knowledge its a little bit "one sided".
But one thing you got it right,Ronaldo is superior in any part of the game than Messi.
And not only in goal scoring.
If you know the career of both players ,you must know that Ronaldo during his 8 years in Manchester, played and according the words of the great Sir Alex Ferguson quote" People tend to forget that Ronaldo played the most difficult position on the pitch,as a left winger, and people dont realize that because he Score do many goals playing that position, never a left winger scored so much goals and assisting has him" end quote.
In 2008 Ronaldo scored 42 goals for Man United ( beating George Best Record) playing Left Winger.
Also people tend to forget that Messi had for many, many years,Xavy and Inesta making Barcelona middlefield one of the best ever making the game to Messi.
Ronaldo never had that, nevertheless he was Champion and Golden boot while playing on the 3 most powerfull leagues in the world.
And beating all records in the process.
Even when he was Shamefull robbed for some titles.like in 2018. Shameless, but his Greatness surpass that.
Ronaldo its by far the most Complete/Best Football player of all Times.
And at 38 years old he signed the biggest contract in all sports history. That means All.
And its paying off for the team, because even with 38 he can play at top level, running 90 minutes and scoring more and more goals. And by Portugal National team.
Messi forgot how to Run in PSG.
3 seasons,30 goals...well, Fergunson was right,Ronaldo can play and Score an hat trick in any team in the world,Messi is only a Barcelona player.
Only a True and Real Phenomenon can achive at 38 (so far) so much, and be the global superstar Athlete that he his.
Is name is Cristiano Ronaldo.
@Andy Kurmann you my friend are a good sportsman and fan of the game. I love the fact that you applauded Messi without disregarding cr7 which I see as rare within the fandom. Some Messi fans downplay cr7 as well which I see as hypocrisy because no matter how you mention Messi you just must mention cr7 in the same accord because those two competed with each other for over a decade at the highest level....10 years of consistency and some clowns will come out and start spitting BS because they hate one and love one which is completely childish iMO. Big ups to you bro 👍.

@@pol3786 I never said he was the best in history I said that, he was the second best. And also Ronaldo stats > Pele stats, Ronaldo performances > Pele performances. Sure, Ronaldo hasn't won 3 world cups or even a single one, but according to yr logic, Messi wouldn't have been better than Pele if he hadn't won the world cup.
