    The most misunderstood about Messi is his work ethic. People always thinks the talent does it for him but as Becks told Rio, he works harder than most players to get where he is. And if you really think about it and you've played competitive yourself, you know its impossible to get to a high level without hard work, even with the best talent. Messi is a winner and the greatest of all time.

    • @whitenbald

    What was so unique about him as a player was his consistency when it came to crossing, long diagonal passing and set pieces. It was so rare to see him produce a bad pass, no matter the distance. Also, whenever he got a freekick within shooting distance you just knew there was a strong possibility it was going to end up in the net.
    Looking back, there was definitely a long period of time where he was under appreciated as a player by those who weren't united fans. Undoubtedly one of the most technically gifted players England has produced.

    I was watching him play at Milan and I just thought that Italian football suited his game so much. He was picking out players from miles away, putting it on a sixpence as per usual. He was well into his 30s and looked like the best player on the pitch. Ridiculous passing range, crosses, free kicks, it’s hilarious to recall the comments that used to knock his playing ability. He was world class. Runner up for the Ballon D’or, key in the champions league for Utd, in the 90s, he was a great player.

    Beckham, in his prime, was extremely popular both as a player and personality so I wouldn't consider him "underrated". Football fans underappreciated him probably because he is not all-rounded (ie: can't take players on with fancy skills, don't do aerial challenges, seldom go into tackle to win possession, etc). His best ability was crossing the ball and he does it with distinction, possibly the best ever. And crossing is perhaps an underrated skill of the game because this is the final-ball and simply results in goals. Beating 2 players at the wing without the right pass does not result in a goal. Beckham's game can turn good strikers into golden boot winners.

      I think they do different type of training though. CR7 does more gym work than Messi, but I wouldn't be surprised if Messi actually spends more time on the grass shooting the ball. And as you said, Messi doesn't publish much stuff on social media. In fact he seems to post his wife and kids more than anything.

    • @grinchoi1
      @grinchoi1 Месяц назад +6

      Exactly!!! Messi doesn't need to remind the world that he works hard. There's no way in hell he would be able to play like he does with the demand of modern football at 37 years old without complete dedication

    • @grinchoi1
      @grinchoi1 Месяц назад +2

      @awfan221 actually i think it's actually the opposite. Messi drives with the ball, acceleration and deacceleration, has to break off challenges and defenders riding him n trying to cut his legs off. His core and legs have to be insanely strong. Where as his technical ability his magic wand of a left leg will always be accurate

    It’s funny that people actually believe Messi doesn’t work hard or do lot of trainings. It’s the narrative that media created to bring the GOAT debate to make someone relevant. He doesn’t post his workout (like someone does) on social media doesn’t mean he doesn’t do it. He didn’t simply become GOAT with just his natural talent.

With respect to Zidane, I always looked at Cantona and Zidane in the same light - they both had an aura about them! Looking forward to the next episode!

Football is becoming more athletic and less skill.

    Let's not get it twisted...away from his Hollywood persona...Becks is one of the best footballers this country has ever produced. His technique is second to none. His work rate was incredible, he was top leader. Watch back the 99 final and that guy was the engine of the team. I'm a Leeds fan it was fun to dislike Becks as a kid. But objectively we all loved him and knew how good he was for the English game.
