Yeah like , i absolutely loved winger messi from 2005-2007 , he was the epitome of a winger ; very very fast , comfortable with both close touch and long touch dribbles , never dived and rushed on like he had 4 or 5 lives but the injury in 2006 made him a bit slower or else the world of football would’ve been even more terrorised by the little man

Guardiola was the coach who asked him not to run. Messi is a yes man for this sport, he never minds running, it was Pep who realized that if he slowed down, started the false nine position, that he would be deadly as more than a winger striker, and lo and behold, messi has well over 1200 goal contributions with G+A, still runs when needs to, and brcause he is mostly just walking, scanning, and calculating, he can explode and completely take over a game when he sees the opportunity.

    • @stealthiscool
      @stealthiscool 14 дней назад +14

It’s not just that, before Pep he was pretty injury prone and suffered from persistent muscles injuries so I think conserving him was the pain reason as well as tactical reasons.

    • @VintageCR
      @VintageCR 17 дней назад +6

i think you mistake running with the ball and running without the ball, running forward to press the back line, running back to help in defense, running infield to set himself free from defenders and able to receive a ball. he literally did all this while walking or jogging, not running or sprinting.
Messi knew where to be to still help the team.
when it comes to running with the ball, yes, he dribbled to outplay defenders and other players, this requires him to run to keep in control of the ball.
but other then that, he didn't run.
Whenever Messi saw space opening up on the field, he would be walking in the correct position already so he didn't have to run there.
      eats and breaths football.

This literally sums up why the MSN was so scary. You will never know who will make the final strike. Messi was just that capable of finding both Suarez and Neymar's location even with 3 defenders surrounding him. His dribble was not as lethal as his younger self, but to me that was the time when Messi reached goathood.

What an incredibly put together video, well done to you. I think you encapsulate messi’s journey to becoming the best player in the world perfectly from a role perspective, about how it all was a result of his adaptability. He showed his adaptability to his environment, his physicality (which shows how his style changes as he gets older), etc. are second to none. You were right about how most players were taught to stick to one role and drill it to their core, but messi was the exception. I would love to see a vid about cristiano

Messi just refused to run aimlessly
he style of preserving energy for the crucial runs and sudden explosive dribbling
is something which should be appreciated its a genius idea
But even if he has reduced running around foolish
    his one run dribbling
    is equal to 10 runs
the energy and power u need the stamina the flexibility vision etc
this all combined in one run where he dribbles 3-4 players
and he does it several times in one game
whereas other players do such runs once in a life
    once in season
    once in 10 games
and even the they dont get close in results

I know a guy who played with Messi when he arrived to la Masia (we are from the same small town) and what the video says at the beggining it's not true. From day one, all of his teammates knew he was the best player in the team. The reason Messi didn't `ñay at the beggining was because he hadn't the authorisation from the federation (international trades in minors are really difficult in paperwork) but he was well integrated and everybody in the club knew how good he was.

    PELE WAS THE BEST EVER
    1. He could score with either leg. He scored over 1,000 goals, goals of all types, colors and shapes. From outside the box, inside the box, volleys, scissor kicks, diving headers, soft, hard, over the goalie's reach, upper corner, lower corner. You think of it, he did it.
    2. He was excepcional with headers. He would usually out jump taller defenders. He was like a fish in midair, able to get higher once he jumped. Observe carefully his header-goal against Italy in the finals of the World Cup México 1970.
    3. Physically, he was impecable. Strong, fast, quick, powerful, with remarkable endurance.
    4. Technically, Pelé was masterful. His control was awe inspiring. Pelé made it look easy, natural, joyous. He could dribble past a cloud of defenders like a hot knife through butter.
    5. Tactically, Pelé had no flaws. He would move knowingly on the field, commanding his teammates, understanding where they would be, occupying spaces, opening the game as needed. Watch him control and blindingly pass the ball to Carlos Alberto for Brazil's fourth goal in the final against Italy in the World Cup México 1970. Simply delicious!
    6. He was courageous. Most of the time, when he stepped on the field, Pelé was a marked man. Teams would have their top defender shadow him constantly. He played most of his career without the benefit of the disciplinary cards, they were instituted in 1970, Pelé's last World Cup. The referee's "culture" of the time, allow for much more rough play. Pelé learn to defend himself against tough defenders and never backed down.
    7. Pelé played on fields that were not the best by today's standards. The ball would bounce here an there, responding to the unevenness and holes on the field. It was much more difficult to make a good pass, much more difficult to control the ball and yet, Pelé shone with the light of a genius.
    8. Pelé won many national titles, international titles and the World Cup three times. He is still today the youngest player to play in a World Cup final (17 years old at Sweden 1958) and score (two goals).
    9. Finally, Pelé was FIFA's best ambassador of the game. An example for the youth of the future and most decent human being. And who could beat that smile?
I saw him score the most remarkable goal I have ever witnessed...
Lima was all up in a buzz as the news spread like wild fire about the arrival of Santos of Brazil with Pelé. Santos was going to play against Alianza Lima the Peruvian champion. The excitement increased as Alianza announced the hiring of an Uruguayan defender named Souza just for the match. Souza's job, of course, was to shadow Pelé all game long. Alianza paid Souza the enormous amount (in those days) of $500 dollars just for the one game, all other expenses (travel, stay, etc.) covered. It was summer, so the game was going to be played at night at the "Estadio Nacional." As the game progressed, Souza, a tall, black, strong and agile player was doing a very good job of shadowing Pelé. Souza, being from Uruguay, was schooled in the ways and manners of their style of play. That is, all nonsense and as rough as the referee would allow and more.
It was almost half time, Pelé was next to the touch line near midfield watching his goalie kick the ball long and high. As the ball fell towards him, Pelé smoothly chess trapped it and allow it to roll down onto the field in front of him. Souza jumped on the ball but Pelé was first. With his back towards Souza, Pelé heeled the short bounce of the ball over Souza's head. Fast as lightening, Pelé turned around, his eyes riveted on the ball as it was falling down passed Souza. He quickly realized that Villanueva, Alianza's goalkeeper, about forty meters away, was way out of his line. In a flash, Pelé volley the ball. It described a laser like parabola over the surprised humanity of Villanueva and into the back of the net! It was magnificent! Extraordinary! Amazing! An instant hush fell all over the stadium, as if all those human minds needed time to really process and accept was they had just witnessed. And then, then, everybody stood up and applauded and applauded and applauded. I still can hear them.
Father, may you rest in peace, thank you for taking me that night to the stadium. Your loving son, always.
Pelé, Pelé WAS AND IS THE BEST!

@@lakaka9587 You are right! I did not watch the video. I didn't need to, I have followed Messi since at 13, he was acquired by Barcelona from Newell's Old Boys. I bet you did not read my whole commentary about Pelé. If you did, you will have to admit that Pelé was way superior to Messi. Messi is a great player but not the best, he has a character flaw. The Argentinians used to call him "pecho frío" which translates as "no heart" because he would not "show up" during most of Argentina's tough games. Yes, he corrected it in the last World Cup but not before. Pelé was right on from the very start. At 17, he scored two goals in the 1958 World Cup final against Sweden. Pelé was the COMPLETE player just watch him head the ball (Messi could only dream to head the ball as good), score with either left or right foot (Messi is mostly left foot it) and on and on. Thank you for your reply, have a great day!
