All these bashes and tackles are really what make this game stand out, it's an advanced technique like discovering you can rocket jump in TF2. It adds so much that there isn't a button dedicated to a false edge move or shield bash, it's just the same mouse movement and left click with an occasional crouch, but you do it in such a way that it unlocks the game's true potential. Even more so now that all these elaborate suplexes and trips can do damage. I love Exanima. Can't wait to see how Sui Generis turns out too.
what makes you say that? All context/factors aside, development has been slow, yes, but it's a custom engine with a single programmer and a really big scope. Besides, on their discord there was a roadmap (as in what/when/how) given by the lead dev and it's been followed closely for the last ~3-4 years, afaik.@@sashagrey2984
Imagine a two person team, one a polearm knight, he flings the enemy cartwheeling up then a thaumaturgical mage blasts them up and away! God that would never get old
1:13 I am so excited for that shield bash. Luckily I think you already understand that feeling as an Exanima player. I feel Exanima is really only a big beta test for the real game, whenever that comes out. I forget what it's called but when it (and Exanima) get released, it's gunna be amazing. That shield bash though... looks like it feels good.
I mean the game IS literally a testing grounds for sui generis (the game you're refering too) And yeah this game is already INSANE I can only imagine if they can actually get coop in the game it will be so replayable
I wish there would be a big RPG like Diablo 3, only with combat mechanics and immersion like in Exanima. It's a pity that most players are accustomed to gameplay with 2 buttons, to the maps showing the path, markers everywhere, where everything is simplified and casual.
@@krzkam7792 It requires a lot of finesse, like pulling the strings of a puppet. There's a rhythm to the fights also, and you need to time it just right and be at correct distance of your weapon. One thing about fights that helped me alot is having a button that I can hold to lock the camera behind my character so that I'm always looking straight ahead.
@@venerablebrothergoriate5844 Ha! No, not the middle one. On my mouse there’s additional buttons around where I place my thumb and I just assign that camera lock key to that button. It makes fighting much easier in my opinion.
Feigning an attack with your weapon to follow up in the same momentum with the equivalent of hitting with a SMALL TABLE is the most real medieval thing I have seen 😂 Shields ARE weapons!
lol I'm sorry. I had the most luck putting the camera near the pillar, where the torch rings would line up vertically. I just got used to my torch being in the wrong place.
I enjoyed your video! Nice vibe with the music and editing. I liked the jokes. One thing though. The keyboard/mouse display could have been smaller IMO. Personally I'm not that interested in it, and while I understand some people might be; it was kinda hard to not be distracted by it. Just my opinion of course.
Can you help me understand what's going on? It seems like my weapons aren't as "heavy" as yours. When I get a pole arm or a greatsword into one of those positions, they don't yank the guy around like that, they just remain standing and my guy sort of lets the weapon flop in his grip. What am I missing?
Those takedowns and tosses work by using the windup motion. You get into position and wind up, dragging your weapon through the other guy and ideally taking him with.
It can be pretty finnicky. Weapon selection is important, you want a low balance expert pole. The last section in this video breaks down the specifics of that throw, ruclips.net/video/hlNBqdl426Y/видео.html
I don't understand how you do false edge. When I try to do this, the character just remise when I jerk the mouse. Without remise it's just end the attack. I don't know maybe i git gud someday. Thanks for the video, mate, very helpful for a beginner!
Just started this on steamdeck tho. Runs extremely good and battery could go forever but Im str8 ass. Any tips or recommendations for steamdeck/controller specifically?
Or u can just play normally instead of these clownish hit or miss grapples or throws. In PvP that shit aint gonna fly, if u try it u will get pummeled before ure even in range to attempt it. Instead look at actually useful moves such as the fake edge which is conditionally good
These are pretty hard to do and this isn't meant to teach anything. This is to show that the moves in my tuts still work in this patch, the other vids try to explain how the tricks work.
I just bought the game a few days ago and have been loving getting really mad at it. I noticed there are a few instances where you are pressing "c". Did you rebind it to something else, or does "power bar" mean something in arena that I'm unaware of?
I've got crouch on C. It's the old default, a hold over from before the magic update. I use crouching for dodging, dropping my weight into attacks, and lining up tripping moves. I find C easier to press than X when also stepping forward or to the left.
If you change your mind, I hang out and offer unintentionally patronizing advice on the bare mettle discord's arena clips channel. You're right about it being silly to invest time and effort in a trick for a side mode in an early access title.

Jayzus. I can never cross that fine line between drunken stumbling and actually styling all over your opponent in exanima.
Meanwhile I can barely keep track of where I'm moving towards, then face the enemy and by the time i swing the enemy is behind me knocking me out
In the devs latest dairy they talked about phasing where they've updated the physics to avoid it. So perhaps throws will be more consistent
I hope so, and for those cloth physics to turn into cape grappling.
