There are 2 GW Stores in Vienna, one in the middle and one on the Outskirts of Vienna. A few years ago the Stores were buzzing. This year I was there one weekend and there was not a single customer or Dudes playing Games in the Store. Most of the Guys I know buy at a reduced price from third-party Sellers or have turned their backs on GW completely. ⛄Happy Holidays from Austria☃
I had noticed this trend myself, the one GW store near me is a fair drive and not exactly in a place that most would find appealing to go for hobby things. While their profits are up I wonder if that is due strictly to higher prices, fewer players paying more for the product. Regardless thanks for sharing that, its always good to see how things are going in different places in terms of this news. Happy holidays! And thanks for posting!
Warhammer+ is not profitable, after selling out the Astartes dude for Secret Level episode, I wonder how much money-money did that Amazon licensing rights deal gave them.
We'll likely see in their up coming earnings report, I noted in their announcement of the Amazon deal they made sure to say it wouldn't effect anything for roughly a year. And what they did to the Astartes guy was dirty along with the Text to Speech series they ensured shuttered after bringing them so much attention. At this point I think only the Battletech guys, Catalyst Labs might be worse with how they treat creatives and fans. Thanks for posting Torshec! Merry Christmas.
I will never understand why or how the fans of 40k are more petulant, childish, and petty toward GW than the traitor Primarchs were generally, to the point of trying to will a conspiracy to harm or outright end GW altogether, which would, of course, be the end of 40k. I get that negativity sells better for some reason, and that social media and content algorithms actively promote anxiety and negativity in content, but at this point I'm convinced half the "fans" actually hate 40k and only thought they liked it before realizing they were the ones being satirized. I'm so sick of seeing people in the fanbase and community thinking they're clever or hot shit for deciding to throw their toys out the pram, but want to keep their toys.
Ok. For the most part I'm fairly negative on GW's business practices and usually companion for better. However I don't think its negative in this sense to talk about why stores just give up. Infact my store had stopped selling all GW products a year back. It was a topic I planned on going over but, hadn't gotten around to. By no means am I a fan of GW and 40k has lost much of its luster for me. I will add the part that "GW doesn't like the local hobby shops" comes from their earnings report. So view them not as sellers of their times but, as blocks toward greater sells. So this is something I view in a negative light and worry it will choke out the game. Hopefully that cleared things up.
@@mrnobodypresents1349 Apologies for not being clear, that wasn't meant to be directed squarely at you - it was intended to be a contrary voice because my youtube feed has been full of "GW is the new EIC" for weeks, and has had me feeling exasperated with a lot of content creators I normally enjoy. I appreciate you shining a light on GW that isn't speculative but based on feedback from the store. If it's a problem that runs deep with GW, maybe exposure will help. I didn't mean to poo-poo your content, I've just seen entirely too much negativity lately. As to the question at the end of the video, I live close to a Citadel store, and my area has a pretty tremendous tabletop following. We're spoiled for choice here, with tons of stores and most systems or settings having some representation or dedicated tables somewhere. Most of the local shops still stock a pretty limited selection of Warhammer models, but are happy to order whatever for you. I always thought this was mostly because having a Citadel in the area gave them more room to focus on underrated, undersung, or smaller companies' stuff, but even the few shops that don't have a single shelf of GW models have tables for GW games. All of them sell Citadel paints, cases, and hobby tools, though. Having a Citadel in the area also seems to cut down on third party models or printing, but there's plenty of shops that are open to it and regularly host Warhammer. I never thought to ask any of them what business with GW is like, but I might just do that so I can contribute to the conversation instead of just winging.
@@L35L3Y I truely want the company to do better, if not for myself, for those who love 40k. To be honest I think many hope a back lash will be corrective. However sometimes folks just wallow in the negative and RUclips tends to push it. There are a great many issues with how GW treats customers and stores. Like any place you have good and bad. However of late GW has slide more and more into being diffcult to deal with. So I suspect much of the negative comes from folks feeling burned. Hopefully in time I can get some of my more positive hobby stuff out. However my camera decided to stop working thus I've talked about the news. No needs to apologize! Just hope the vid gives more context then stir anything up. It really bugged me how distressed and upset the store owner was. He'd just suffered a health issue then when sales for a new edition would be a boon they refused to ship it to him.
