Although I'll never sell my FJ I'm really interested in this for commuting into the city! Nothing wrong with owning two FJ's - right? Hope we can preview the interior soon.
As an FJ owner, if it doesn’t have suicide doors, it’s not an FJ 😆. It does look great though. I sometimes have thoughts of maybe one day saving Elon Musk’s life and he can convert my FJ into a badass EV. It would be called a Toyola FJEV. We can all dream right? 🤣🤣
If they build this on a frame-on-body construction, full EV and the same size of the Suzuki Jimny, with the same looks as in the video, I'll be the first to make a deposit for this. I'm a Bronco fan through and through; but to have a small, capable offroad EV that can go down small trails and still bomb around the city as a street legal side by side essentially? I'm sold!
Needs to be bigger. I would never take that "Jeep renegade" look alike off road... I've pulled out 4 renegades out of the mud with my TRUE FJ, I'll definitely pass on it until it meets the FJ standard.
So Toyota is competing with the Mini Cooper now? Because this thing sure looks like a mini Cooper. EV don’t have the range to be off road, outdoor vehicles.
I ll keep my 2007 fj thank you very much! electric conversion kits allow to retain the manual transmission, so that s what I d probably go for. I like the 2 door appearance, 4 door does nt look sport or masculine to me. no way is this thing body on frame, I d be very surprised. and it s key for the distinctive driving feeling. I feel like I m on back of a tyrannosaurus, yabadabadoo! I d get a new one from the middle east instead of this vacuum. it looks like a honda element, it does nt look tough. modifications will be quite limited on this thing. it can t compete with the fjs I ve seen, like yours. with admittedly quite a bit of money, one can build a real nice piece of art that looks as your own, a kind of monster truck that nothing can stop, while being perfectly good for the road. and with all those climate disasters, which are supposed to come more and more, one will be very content to have the current version, especially if it s jacked 3 inches or more. floods, snow storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, are the things that can happen here in Quebec. does nt worry me one bit with my fj standing ready. I would nt feel so confident with the vacuum... if my apartment is destroyed, I have my second home. I lived in my fj 2 1/2 months, and it s better than camping. Toyota wastes money, it should concentrate on adding an electric motor to the current model. by keeping the manual transmission, it would be ahead of competition. real drivers want a driving experience, a sport, and that is the manual transmission. it s the natural evolution of the electric vehicles. as always, it will come to high end cars first, then, more regular cars. so why wait? 'no more boring cars' the manual fj is just that. people still just can t tell the age of my fj, it s design is timeless. we like it just as it is, like a rolls royce, which has it s distinctive looks, the fj is just right, this is why the value will always increase. James Bond s db7, the Mona Lisa, the Eifel tower, iconic. lightning does nt strike twice, the fj is act of god, ha, ha! I feel like I own a 57 chevy, or 67 mustang, and it makes me happy! good show!
@@vincenzodemarco7983 thank you, if my passion reached you, you must be an artist as well, or at least some kind of fine art enthousiast, we surely share appreciation of fine lines in vehicles and women. true traits of romantic men. best regards my brother!
I will still keep my FJ. The compact would be fine for shopping around town and, commutes. I will be looking into purchasing this as a companion to my FJ.
There is an obscure “cruiser” in the Toyota product line history - The Toyota Mini Cruiser - a military spec 4wd produced in the 1970s up to the early 80s sold in South East Asia and Latin America. It is about 3/4 the size of an FJ40. Recently the Philippines has requested Toyota to revive the military spec Mini Cruiser for its Army.
Nooooooooooooo. Not EV please. I don't mind mild hybrid but not 100 electric. I don't think u will be able to find any charging stations on a mountain top.
yea, without real off-road credibility, it is not an FJ. hopefully Toyota gets the memo and builds a real off-roader. what we dont want is a RAV4 crossover for crawling malls.
Maybe smaller tires and make sure it has no roof rack or other modifications. But really the FJ will never be a great vehicle of you want good gas mileage. It just wasn't built for that 🤷♂️
The vehicle is an oxymoron. It won't have enough range to be truly off-road, and it won't be efficient enough or have the room in back to be a daily commuter. It's cute as hell, but as an EV, it's flawed. The bZ4x makes more sense and will have better utility, but even that vehicle is lacking range.
For the last years I have been posting suggestions to Toyota about making a small off roader FJ like in the line of Suzuki Jimny. The potential for them is there. The Land Cruiser is top but far too big. I own a first gen Rav4 and although it is not a proper off-roader it rocks.
I love Toyota but clearly they have lost it and they won’t be around much longer, all they had to do was keep the old body fix the blind spots and make all the doors able to open on there own, electrify it and call it a day. This is horrible, it literally looks like an off-road Kia soul knock off. #Toyota is dying
I will keep my 2013 Trail Teams. This looks Crappy . They need to make the next one that can remove doors & roof. They should call this EV concept another name .
I have a 2012 FJ Trail Teams Edition with about 3000 miles and in immaculate condition that I am considering selling. Any ideas on what it is worth and the best way to sell it. I hate to sell but really need a truck again and money to help with building new house. I don’t have to sell so also wonder if suggested to hold onto it.
That is my dream FJ! Sell it to me! Haha Very nice that it is such low miles, it would be worth a premium. I do have an idea of what its worth and the best way to sell it if you really want to get top dollar.
I’m actually excited about this, everyone just needs to remember this is a concept. Just like the 2003 concept of the FJ this is most likely nowhere near what would hit the market. Also another thing of note is that EV Motors generate much more torque than traditional combustion engines. I would only wait to see what the charge range is on the motor. But that’s just my two cents.

Probably not, for starters the model hasn’t even been made yet, if at all, so getting those headlights is pretty much impossible, and then it is a completely different model than the FJ, so no parts would be cross compatible. That would include headlights.

I apologize for the first few seconds of the video 😂 hope you enjoy it overall however and be sure to leave your thoughts here on the comment section!
I think people going to Bed, Bath and Beyond, Whole Foods and Starbucks will love this.
Some people say the same thing about the FJ 🤷♂️ but we try to prove them wrong!
This is only a joke. An Element and Cruiser had a Kid. I will never sell my FJ. But this is a close as an EV.
Yeah definitely not a true FJ replacement
I will carve a hole in the floor of my FJ, stand in it, and drive it like Fred Flinstone before I ever consider buying an EV
I think you speak for the majority of FJ cruiser community, this new one looks like it wouldn’t compete with the new bronco, or the new hummer.
I would pick my good old FJ anyday that's for sure
