  • Huell takes us on an hour-long California’s Gold special which looks at the history of In-N-Out Burger. This is the first time television cameras have ever been allowed to shoot inside a store. And this special also includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the In-N-Out Headquarters in Baldwin Park where it all started back in 1948.

I worked at In-N-Out while in college. I knew two of these guys really well. Bob was my Divisional Manager and Chuck used to do QFC (Quality, Freshness, & Cleanliness) while I worked there. They were really good people and In-N-Out really taught me a lot about really working hard for your money. I would definitely recommend working there.

My grandfather lived, grew up & graduated high school in Los Angeles, California, back in the 1940’s. So - my family knew and always heard all about In-N-Out Burger. My father and grandfather would always stop and take us to In-N-Out for a meal when we would travel & vacation in Southern California, whether it was during a visit to Disneyland or hanging out at Newport Beach, Laguna Beach or taking in a Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium. We finally welcomed our first In-N-Out Store, here in Las Vegas, NV on West Sahara Avenue, back in 1992. We still enjoy & continue to frequent In-N-Out, at least once a month and are life long customers. God bless the Synder Family and the entire In-N-Out team.

I was raised in BP and ate at In-N -Out #1. I moved to Sacramento in 1985. Around 1990 Fresno opened that In-N-Out. A Sacramento morning Rock radio DJ that used to be from LA , made the announcement over the radio of the restaurants Fresno opening 1 month away. He spoke of how much he loved In-N-Out, his experiences and was going to the Fresno opening. At that time that was the closest In-N-Out to Sacramento, 4 hours each way. Ex LA people from Sacramento chimed in to the station as they wanted to go and tag along also to the Fresno opening. Instead a Commuter van was suggested. Instead of a van to travel in, enough interest for 2 buses maxed out went on that In-N-Out Urge run! Locals from Sacramento could not understand what the fuss was over that bus trip and the burgers. I believe there are now 5 In-N-Outs in the Sacramento area. The ultimate In-N-Out run!

A friend of my dads use to sell them advertising. Said they were very unique/independent and had some sort of funky accounting system. I recall the plane crash at John Wayne that was reported to have IN-N Out staff. Miss Huell!

Ya, from what I can remember, they’ve always payed their employees well, to me that’s more important than the food.

As a native Southern California of 66 years, I will never forget Huell Howser and In-N-Out Burger, especially their stance against those immoral fascistic vaccine mandates, earning them a customer for life; God bless them.

In and Out Burgers are a force to be reckoned with! I've worked for Burger King as a youth and they were nothing like this. McDonald's certainly has more stores but the mediocre at best quality of their food and the fact you use a kiosk to order which I feel ruins a lot of the atmosphere in ordering and eating their food. Still, In and Out Burgers fries are only fried once and I feel they aren't quite as good. Smashing the beef patties would result in a tastier burger but you do have to admit they do have a system, and it works! Their wages create loyalty and their positive atmosphere goes even furthur. The ONLY reason they don't franchise more is a function of the original family and distance from a product center!
