    The only television show that left me feeling I watched something worth watching. Even though it wasn't about Huell Howser; he and his crew made California's Gold work!

    9:22 PM PST - There will never be another Huell Howser.💗 His boyish enthusiasm, exuberance and energy will never be matched. California Gold episodes showcased the very best of our state-the everyday unsung heroes. Glad he didn’t have to witness how far we’ve declined . 💔😣

    I'm 37 years old now and I remember first watching him when I was about 10 years old. You couldn't change channels without bumping into him . You would go to your friends house or a doctors office and Huell would always be playing in the back. He was on Tv as I grew into a man, got married and had my first kid. I didn't care for him and I thought he was annoying. I Left Los Angeles in 2006 and moved to Las Vegas. I heard of his passing in 2013, but still didn't really pay too much attention. About 6 months ago, I was home and his show came up here in Las Vegas public channel and I watch it in its entirety. After the show ended I RUclips him and began watching his California gold shows with my 6 year old and my wife. I was hooked. He has this innocence, and real earnest curiosity for people and things that's very heartfelt. He makes you feel like it's ok to be a child exploring and asking questions all over again. He's very genuine and kind hearted, doesn't have a mean bone in his body. The sad thing now is that he was always under my nose, his shows were always playing trying to teach me that our world is beautiful. That even the smallest things can bring you happiness. I've cried several times after watching his shows because it breaks my heart now that he's dead. All Huell ever wanted to do was show us how ordinary people and places can be AMAZING. I'm learning not to take people and family members for granted, and I'm teaching my kids to find the beauty in our every day lives. Californias gold was always under my nose but I was so ignorantly blind that I couldn't see . Thank you Huell. I miss you and may god bless you. I hope when I die you are there to greet me ,and take me on a tour of my afterlife.

      Such a lovely and sincere tribute you wrote. Huell himself was the destination for me, his destinations were my trips. I miss him so much and his shows can be emotionally difficult for me to watch. In the beginning, many may not have understood him but we soon caught on. Such a tender and sincere heart he was. I loved him.

      Wow man, that’s really beautiful, and you’re right about all of it. He was an awesome dude. I’m a 49-year-old punk rocker and I’ve been watching him my whole life, and I’ve visited more than half of the things I’ve seen on his show. Most importantly he is inspirational as a human being.

    What I would've given to simply meet a man as decent as Huell Howser, with his boyish curiosity and enthusiasm for everything California. Having been born & raised in the L.A. area I caught early on the same wonderment and enchantment Huell felt for California -- its lifestyle, its culture, its history, its geography, its geology; and to this day, even having left 30 years ago to live in WA, I'm still amazed at the diversity of the state, and retain very fond memories -- and hope one day to go back to CA and revisit and explore deeply all that I remember about living there. It's a shame that politics has ruined a lot of what CA has meant to me, but they'll never be able to take away its natural beauty, its majesty, or its history. And Huell Howser made sure that those things were always front and center. A wonderful man whose love for CA shows through in every show he ever did. God Bless him. Huell, you've done a great service for me and every person who has ever lived -- or hoped to live -- in California.

      @briane173 2 года назад

      @@rscii497 I live across the river from Portland, OR. It WAS an adjustment to the people and the vibe here. But I've always liked the community of Vancouver -- a balanced mix of urban and rural living, and at least when I first moved up here the cost of living was 2/3 what it was in CA. Much worse now, but I at least have the weather and landscape to enjoy.

    I discovered these shows (Visiting & CA Gold) by accident around 1995 flipping through the channels and was hooked. I have two memories one was watching this every Sunday night. Made starting the work week a lot easier because it was like taking a half hour or hour vacation. My other memory was actually meeting Huell during the taping of one of his at the San Diego Wild Animal park in 2003. A great memory.

When I was in my early teen years, I recognized him on TV and I started watching his show ever since then until his very last episode before hearing about his death back in 2013. We will never see another adventure like the one Huell brought to us in our lifetimes.

    Yes, Huell is a California treasure and we need to erect a statue and memorial to him. He brought so much joy into the world. California is way more than 50% minorities. We have such a diversity of people from all over the world who have lived here for generations and about 30% of the state is Latino or Hispanic. Most of us speak some Spanish and many people speak several languages. But we all speak enough English to get the job done. I live in northern Cali next to the Oregon and Nevada borders. We can go from Redwood forests to mountains to desert to the Pacific Ocean all within 4 hours. Believe me, it's nothing like LA or SF.

    I was ok until he went on the Golden Gate. I'd rather face a battalion of VC again than go up there and look down. I would have frozen, and they would have had to medicate and haul me down. But Huell went up there and managed to move around and even talk. My hat went off to him for that. The wind turbine was almost as bad, but the Golden Gate combined my lifelong fear of heights with my Midwesterners fear of deep water to make it even worse. At least if you fall off the turbine, they'll find your body.
