Really enjoy your TASKER videos. I the light s being controlled by actions that are happening on track is so exciting. It blew me away when I saw the green lights overhead. Then the sunlight incredible!!! I haven gotten all apps and plug-ins just waiting for my track My kids track. Have a Merry Christmas. All my respect for your tutorials.
Actually, SR will tell you when you are low on fuel, and when fuel reaches zero the Carrera CU makes the car slow down and flash the lights. Lap counting is also disabled when out of fuel. Actually, it works great! If you set the fuel to "realistic" there is an advantage in driving with low fuel (cars are faster than when full) and fuel status can become important at the end of a close race. Strategy is half the fun!!
Hi John, what’s your honest opinion, should you race with magnets or remove them, home racing of course, any advice would be appreciated, want to start out on the right footing.
If you're new to digital, I'd learn driving strategy WITH magnets, then go magnetless. Magnetless is a whole new world, and personally, I prefer it a lot. We still have some newer drivers in our club, so we tend to stay with magnets for now. Make sure you true your tires and wheels, and experiment with weight. Makes a huge difference, and magnetless can run almost as fast as magnets, but tons more fun! Good luck!!!
Great content John. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I've watched all of the Slot Car Mayhem videos and I am currently in the process of switching my RMS from HSSRMS to Smart Race. The Khadis VIM3 Pro is a nice SBC but those HUE lights are not cheap (I'm looking at replacing the 11 recessed dimmable LED bulbs in my garage with HUE bulbs and they are ~$50/ea...ugh). I am looking at the Sylvania equivalent which are ~$15/ea (amazon.com/SYLVANIA-Dimmable-Equivalent-Google-Assistant/dp/B08FRQFZ3B/) but I'm not sure about the integration with Tasker and the Sylvania app. I ordered a 4 pack of these to try them out and we shall see how well they work. The details on how you did the integration with the HUE lights, the Hue thunder App, and Tasker would be very helpful. I understand work and my workload has also increased not leaving very much time to work on my layout but it will happen. I would like to keep the track call/de-slot buttons on my track (currently using an Arduino Leonardo board to send a 'space' keystroke to the HSSRMS app which emulates pressing the 'Start' button on the CU). I believe I can do this with the VIM3 Pro's I/O pins but I have not looked into this yet and I am concerned about being able to reproduce the de-bounce functionality of the Arduino code I currently run (ruclips.net/video/mh7ZC5TjTyY/видео.html). Any suggestions/opinions you have about this would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to see your layout progress. You are doing an amazing job. Cheers, Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)

Hi John, can you tell me if you can slow the cars when there need to refuel or run out of fuel in the Smart race App .

Haven't seen a vid for awhile hope you are doing well.
Doing good... work has me going 70-80 hours a week at the moment. Thank you!!
John, love your videos, and I am building my own track. May I get your contact information to chat more with you, please?
I'd be happy to share. I will set up a more private way to share contact info. Where are you located?
