    Bottom line is Heavier bullet for the win after looking at the 4 different ammo types. In the first test the 40 gn CCI ran great, this test the 30gn +V did not, but the Hornady 45gn bullet worked great, problem solved.

    I run Armscor through mine and it's flawless. I use mine as my carry gun I don't care what anyone says when it comes down to the wire it's about bullet placement and if you get shot in the lungs, heart, liver, or head your going down. Plus if something real bad happens I got 60 rounds on me and can barley even tell it's like 2 lbs.

      I was raised on 22's - shorts, LR's and my personal favorite the mag- and IF you can shoot and the weapon is accurate
      a mag is a killer- even a damn bear...

      @Leo.407 5 лет назад +6

      Amen Brother! That 22mag is 'mo better' than most people will publicly state. Mine has been almost perfect, maybe 2-3 feed problems with a thousand rounds shot. Accuracy is great and I have a mini laser on the rail for low light/night shooting. I absolutely love mine....even though when I purchased about 5 years ago, I had to spend some money.

      Yes when it comes down to the wire it's about bullet placement, how many ppl can hit a target under stress far less put a bullet in a specific area, I have seen ppl shot with 9mm and keep coming far less with a .22 the only thing that .22 is good for is teaching ppl how to shoot..i.e. confidence building, hold and trigger control and how to apply the marksmanship rules....

    If people would just read the damn manual and use the suggested ammo and grain they would have no issues with this gun. The manual says use CCI maxi mag 40 gr. If you use lower grain you may have issues.

    After watching MANY videos and reading many reviews I purchased my PMR30 and the Mcarbo upgrade kit . I installed the kit parts especially the stainless steel feed ramp. I’ve got a Viper red dot mounted on it. I have never had a failure to feed or eject. CCI that Kel-tec recommended works flawlessly. It is accurate, light , easy to handle and I’m more than happy with it. I carry 3 extra mags and if that’s not enough to get the job done I screwed up!!

  • @allenw969
    @allenw969 3 года назад +1

    Mine had some malfunctions so I sent it back to Keltec. They replaced a number of parts. I didn’t do extensive testing because of the ammo shortage, but I ran one magazine with 15 rounds of CCI Maxi-Mag 40 gr Jacketed Hollow Point and 15 rounds of CCI Maxi-Mag 40 gr Total Metal Jacket, and another magazine with 30 rounds of Federal Premium 50 gr Hollow Point. All performed flawlessly.

    Good video, thanks for sharing.. little correction ( I thought 1700fps, hornady 45 gr FTX as well) but it’s out of a rifle ..it’s 1000 FPS out of a pistol.. trivial? Maybe.. but it runs pretty good in my PMR30.. but I had to put 90 bucks in a upgrade kit from Mcarbo to make it run more reliable..

    Just got one about 6mo ago. Have no trouble with the armscor 40gr. Not a single issue so far with Hornady , CCI, fiocchi, winchester varmint and a couple others. Have 4 mags, I loaded to 25 for awhile when all new, try to let it break in a little without to much pressure.
    I use the mag Lula loader and tap as I go. It’s so light and such a nice trigger , I really like it fro a hunting sidearm.

  • @PierreKerbage

    The speed of the bullet is important. E=MC2 (squared). Energy = Mass (of the bullet) x Celerity (speed of the bullet) SQUARED. Consider 4 squared = 16 so when you square a number, you get 4 times the number (16 is 4 times larger than 4 as an example). So the celerity (Speed) is 4 TIMES more important to deliver the highest amount of energy. The CCI Maxi Mag delivers an amazing 571.5 meters per second. So the Energy of this gun is amazing - if the grain/mass is constant, then the speed of the bullet matters 4 times more than the mass. This is one heck of a speedy bullet to deliver amazing amounts of Energy (easy to calculate - Math 101 right?). So for anyone that claims that the 22 WMR is not potent, they should redo the math and understand that the speed of the bullet matters 4 times more than the Mass of the bullet to deliver the highest amount of energy. This also helps in the consistency of target shooting as the statistical deviation is now reduced to a minimum. Not trying at all to knock off other bullets, but the Five Seven by FN and the 22 WMR can be very powerful with virtually no recoil. So placement now improves significantly. When you add the weight of this gun is minimal, even with 30 rounds, you have one heck of a great Semi that delivers incredible energy. Do the math and smile.

    Got one of these and is the latest version. If I load 30 rounds in the mag it will jam if I load no more than 25 it runs fine. Called Keltec and sent back one mag and they sent the same one back and it was a little better but still 25 was the safe limit. It's acurate,light as a feather and loud. The grip is real big and this should be re designed to be a 20 or 22 rd gun with a smaller grip and this would be the cats ass. Over all I like it as long as I don't put more than 25 rds in the mags.

    • @jimjakosh2506

      I use 25 in mine too. I seem to dent the lower round if I try to put in 30. Mine shoots low and to left on the range and according to the bore sighter. I'm debating on returning it to have them look it over. I put a Crimson Trace laser on it and it is lined up with the bore sighter and shoots accurate that way.

      M-Carbo makes a couple of retrofit parts that virtually eliminate all chambering jams and missed ejections. They make a stainless steel feed ramp, a replacement magazine release to lift the magazines a few thousandths higher for better alignment and also a new slide spring for better ejection. This vastly increases the amount of ammo types you can choose from.

    I own the PMR30 and CMR30 and they are good guns and I use CCI and Hornady with no problems. But the ammo is hard to get and can cost as much to shoot as an FF fiveseven. They are similar. With the Kel-tec being a very good cheaper alternative. The 5.7 ammo is center fire and has a higher fps but the .22WMR is pretty close. But it also depends on the brand of ammo, I only use CCI And Hornady

    Hornady Critical Defense ammo in all Calibers is made for low muzzle flash, to keep your night eyes in that unfortunate time for someone else. Also if you are using night optics .

    Remington seems to be the most reliable in my PMR30 but it's also the most difficult to find.

    I just got one a few weeks ago. Armscor runs fine but it's a dirty round. CCI runs great.

    With my PMR30 the only issue was within the first 50 rounds. Not a single malfunction since that time. To date I have used Armscor for the first 100 rds and Winchester the rest of the time. Never anything under 40gr. Anyone that I have allowed to shoot this gun gets a grin on their face within the first 5-10rds. Super accurate!

    I have a PMR 30 and was told you had to use CCI but I used Armscor with no problem. I'm going to get some Hornady 2200 FPS ammo for defense. I don't know if you have a fluted barrel or not, but the early PMR30's with the fluted barrel had a lot of chambering problems and Keltec will give you a new barrel for free if you have a fluted one.

      Hornady CD chronos at 1370fps from my pmr at 6' from muzzle. 2200fps maybe in a 20" barrel.

    Why give only velocity figures and not energy figures. Also I would like to see them chronographed and energy with THOSE velocities.

    • @myamoore2936

      The Normandy CD is 1700 fps out of a 24" barrel, only 1000 fps out of 2" barrel it says right on the box. So he's only getting around 1000fps.
