I have been told since recording this video, there is now a upgraded unit available ... part number 55509482
Thanks buddy, is it also known as wastegate actuator?
@@Dcnmichael not normally, the actuator is the bit that controls the turbo.
Thank you very much for your video, friend. I just wanted to add that you put the same electrovalve that was causing problems. The new reference is GM 55509482 and it has a blue cap. It was modified by Opel, with another reference, since the previous solenoid was defective in all the BLACK COLOR solenoid valves. Thus the problem is solved forever.

Can't thank you enough guys! Been facing this P0299 problem since June last year and the mechanics couldn't find the cause for turbo underboost. It was a great inconvenience to stop everytime, turn off the car and accelerate from zero esp. on highways. When I saw your comment and the video two weeks ago it somehow gave me hope and I've decided to order the new valve (which is listen on ebay on a great price right now). Changed the solenoid today and voila! Gas to the max and no trouble at all. So happy! THANK YOU BOTH!
@@emanuilvalkov3243 I am very glad that you have already solved it... enjoy the opel astra... a hug friend
Thanks for this video, guide. Cured my issue. Bought the part from ebay.
Fixed all boost issues which is great as it kept dropping into the error and the car would struggle to give any meaningful power. Slowing on hills to a crawl. Really thought the turbo was the issue. 196k and counting now with 13 months mot.
For others you can get this from the top of the car. Probably say its easier than underneath unless you have a lift.
You'll be working blind but they are fairly easy to get to.
Thanks for the comments and tips, glad it helped.
@@Roverturbo saved me a trip to a mechanic. Albeit I did change a fuel filter and map sensor first....
i changed mine the other day and all 4 glow plugs it has made the car faster than ever i also had the engine terracleaned to clear the injectors and all internal sensors.
this cleared the HO2S sensor code
Thanks! Worked on my astra J 1.7 2011 a17dtj. But it was a lot of work to remove the valve. But I got my old car back!!
Ace…
Thank you thank you and thank you. I changed that part and went to test that and i gave the full gas few times and the car wad like reborn. Finally is that good. See in next few days, weeks if its really over with that problem
Let’s hope 👍
That is interesting ! I cleaned out the intakes and manifold when I did that timing chain junk repair ( destroyed lower guide) blocked the Exoust return, and added an OCC. Runs fine since. But got limb mode recently again, every time my wife sits in 😂. and always on the autobahn. Will try to exchange that regulator and see. Txs so far.
I’ve cleaned the egr once, never cleaned anything else, now on 180k miles.
@@Roverturbo tell you it was highly sooted with chocolate and cyl 4 1/3 clogged. Prisoners work and E6 Diesels won't ever buy again, though run 65 miles a gallon
Thanks
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
i drive the same car Great drive Thanks for the video is the car driving faster now ???. And a great day pro
Drives no different.
Hello and thank you for your video. I have exactly the same problem on an opel astra 1.6 cdti 110 hp, has the p299 error returned? Did replacing the supercharger solve the problem? This often happens when I demand power on a highway uphill or when overtaking. I think your video will help me solve the problem before a possible change of turbo. Good for you
Code has not come back.
do you repair it? Was that the problem?
@@alib1607My case was the same thing! Changed the valve and everything’s fine after almost a year and 6000 km!
Hi pal, where did you buy the part from? Really struggling to get one!! Thanks
EBay? Do you mean the updated version? Just go for a standard one.
where u based mate ? i got 1.6 cdti on insignia and i have weird noise after the chain replacement
Thanks for asking but I don’t work on other peoples cars. 👍
Hi I've got same car 2015 plate. Same problem Po299 underboost. Took it a place recommended by AA who said Turbo OK no leaks, actuator working but Map sensor found to be clogged and cleaned it out. They took it test and couldn't get it to replicate fault. Charged just shy of £100 quid.
Limp mode and engine light back on next day overtaking at 3000 revs same PO299 code stored. It's only done 65000 though. What do reckon should do? Just change this part myself or take it back to the people who thought it was the map sensor?
Boost valve would be next on the list. It’s up to you, 👍
I've had the same problem. Consider putting the newversion of the valve (saw this on the other comments) - part number 55509482. Did it today and the car runs great! NO flaws!
@@RoverturboHi update on mine. I bought the part from vauxhall (£105 quid) I managed to fit it from the top of engine reaching round using a mirror to have a look first. It's about maybe 7 or so inches down from top right gear box side, fiddley and blind but do-able. I've done over 2000 miles since fitting the new one and it's not gone limp mode since putting new one in!
Thanks very much for doing the video. You have probably saved me a fortune! (Vauxhall parts desk bloke said he didn't sell many of these and it was unlikely to fix problem. He was wrong though🙂😛)
@@10mmspanner ha.. great to hear.👍
Hi I’m having the same problem and code .. I’ve done the MAP sensor did the boost control sensor finally sort the problem.. thanks
Yes it did but it’s advisable to clean the map sensor regularly.
@@Roverturbo thanks for a quick reply I really appreciate it 👍
Hi mate, got an astra J 1.6 diesel and having very similar problems… how would you differentiate whether or not the issue is due to the EGR or the boost control valve? Cheers
The codes should tell you.
@@Roverturbo perfect, so a p0299 is more likely to be the boost control valve as opposed to the EGR, right?
@mustafa196620 yes… does it ping up under constant load? Ie slip roads?
@@Roverturbo absolutely, usually comes on going up a steep hill where i’ve got to give it some…
How is the car performing now?
Yes perfect.. 👍
Howdy! after this process, did the p0299 error appear?
No, fixed.
Do you know if the 2.0 CDTI has the same module?
Not sure, don’t think so. Isn’t it on the front slam panel on those?
@@Roverturbo yeah I found it now. Having a slight under boost thinking it’s that from the live data.
I cleaned egr, map, replaced n75 valve, checked vacuum lines still getting p0299. So i think it might be turbo or clogged dpf its 1.7cdti.
Possibly.. is the control arm accessible on the turbo? Maybe try and wd40 it loads and work it manually, it maybe stiff or carboned up the vanes inside.
Never hurts to clean the dpf anyway, when they get older, it’s not the soot, it’s the ash left behind after many years, the ash can only be removed by cleaning. Plenty of videos on RUclips how to clean the dpf from home.
when i start engine arm fully open to bottom so vacuum goes there and actuator holds it and dpf doing regen even with engine light and less frequently after injectors cleaning about every 600miles. But i have very bad fuel economy about 35mpg
@felbringer5541 wow… what’s the milleage?
@@Roverturbo139000 miles
@felbringer5541 at that mileage, I’d be removing the dpf and cleaning it, this cleans the ash more than the soot. Then get a garage or someone with diagnostics to reset the dpf to “new”
Dit you ever done a motor flush ??? And why not gif it more turbo boost ???
Motor flush, as in oil? No need, it’s had regular oil changes over and above what it’s recommended. Every 6 k miles.
Leave it standard, no point in putting it under extra stress.
@@Roverturbo Oke thanks for your info
I’ve got the same issue where the egr leaver gets stuck in closed position when going 60MPH could the issue be the same, my mechanic has advised me to change over the egr valve but worried it won’t solve my issue after having a look at this video any advice would be appreciated
Hi, This has nothing to do with the egr, if the egr is getting stuck, it’s ether blocked with carbon and might fix it cleaning it, or replacement. I think they are fairly easy to remove and clean with oven cleaner and rinse with water.
hello, I have the same problem code 0299, a mom6I exceeded 2000 or 2500 revs, the car is stuck in safety mode I have to turn it off and on again.... the same problem like you, what did you do to finally repair it? please
Replaced the boost valve as in the video.
I am in Belgium . I'm looking for the name of the piece in French and I can't find it 😄
I passed technical control, I was told that my Opel Astra releases a lot of CO2, is this boost valve it would be responsible?
The p0299 is just a underboost code, it can be many reasons.
hello mate is the error still gone?
So far 👍

check your battery had this on astra j 2013 1.7 replaced battery and cleared fault
