Hey thanks for posting this, Jon! Glad you dig it. Was cool to see you sequence outboard synths with it! Many more updates to come (including per-step pitch)
Just tried this out, and oh my god is it a game changer for me. I was always jealous of FL Studio guys when they could just lie down a drum loop so easily.
This is awesome. I love that it uses all native Reaper components to do the sound production and items. So if you change anything in the main DAW editor view (move a track, change a volume setting, etc.), it is reflected by the sequence, pattern and instrument tracks within McSequencer. Everything is aware of everything else.
This is great! Thank you very much for finding that thing and checking it out. I'am using RS5K but build drum-maps in just one instance of the plugin and give everything a own midi note. But with McS my workflow would be much faster in the future.
Can you go through the process of installation for people like me can't get it to work , please make a tutorial on how to get the GUI and how how to install the script properly.thanks in advance.
To install this, Open Reaper > Extensions Tab > ReaPack > Manage Repositories > Import/Export > Import Repositories, in this box paste the URL for the repo that is on the McSequencer download page. The link for the page is on the video description. Hope this helps, took me awhile to figure out. Not very intuitive and not helpful that no one tells you how to actually install it.
Does ANYONE know how to use this and do high hat rolls? like is there a way to split the notes within the sequencer or do I have to do it within the midi window after recording it?
Nice script! Is there any way to tweak/automate parameters within the script UI on a per note basis? For example, if I wanted to tweak the hi hat decay per note, could I do that?
I followed the link to the forum where the script should be. But there is no link to download this script McSequencer . All links that pointed to the script McSequencer are not working.
Yes but... This plug-in doesn't allow you to copy paternas in such a way that you can spread them in your project and change them all at once ( by changing a single one ) - so that you can use this similar to FL studio. The only plug-in I know which in Reaper offers such a possibility is "MegaBaby". Unless I am doing something wrong, and any of you know how to do it correctly?
I can't seem to find how to get the ofs and swing knobs, I think it's related to being confused about what folders to put the files in (the folder names in the instructions don't match what I see on my pc), but I'm baffled- can anyone help or point me to resources? All other features work fine
Options menu - show reaper resources folder - Find "Effects" folder. This is REAPER's JSFX folder. Drop the "MIDI Note Sender" and "swing" files there. You may need to scan for new plugins or restart reaper to continue
@@TheREAPERBlog thanks for the response- this didn't work for me sadly. I only see "show reaper resource path in explorer/finder" and the folder doesn't contain an "effects" folder. Sorry, serious noobing...
@@TheREAPERBlog Well if it's in Reapack I couldn't find it. Nor could I find instructions on the page you posted. Thankfully someone on Reddit just walked me through it.
Because the step sequencer is a cool tool to dish out ideas fast. FL is an one trick pony. Because of Reaper's flexibility, you can get the best of FL in Reaper but not the other way around.
computer repariman and ancient musician here, with lots of experience with reaper. this video lost my subscription because i have no idea how to implement or install any of this. at all. i hunted around. i'll stick with kenny and 'learning tips' and that euro dude with the holes in his ears, thanks.... unsubbed...
I've been talking about ReaPack since 2017! I have shown installing it many times. I'm not going to spent extra time in every video showing how to install it from the beginning every time.
HI, with MIDI VST you can map each pattern using the MIDI Transpose Notes script. By default the McSequencer sends CC60 as output, but if you add in the FX chain the MIDI Transpose Notes (after the Note Trigger FX) and set the semitones value in order to match the correspondent MIDI note of the VST. Example: - McSequencer sends MIDI out to CC60 (C4) by default - VST Instrument Drum KICK is CC36 - Set the MIDI Transpose Note to Semitones = -24 Is a remapping that you can do one-shot and then save as a Track template and recall when you need.

This needs a small media explorer.would really make it a beast.
Been waiting for this for years!
Love the drag samples function
I'll have to give this a try. I haven't typically sequenced anything before.
Wow sick-excited to try it
Thanks so much for this, Jon! It's a great script!
This looks so much better than Sower. Yeah l`ll be using this in my custom action startup list.
This is really awesome!
the one thing I was missing from Reaper!! 🎉
Game changer!!
This is fantastic. They gotta put this in Reaper.
very nice - the ability to add triplets or ratcheting to each note - that would be awesome
Thanks 🙏👋👋👍

its paragraph 2 or so of first post
@@TheREAPERBlog Thank you, I got it. I also put it with the Fl studio theme. It is great.
i got "reapack" and "rea im gui" extensions and sws extension, but how can i get "mcsequencer"?
How do I put 1/8 example?
🔥🔥🔥
so far... I really wish it would work with video files. It plays them, but only the audio.
How can i get this
😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤
Can't get to work with my high dpi monitor. Set as recommended.
Is there a way to use it with vst library?
sends MIDI out, with some extra steps you can use it with other drum plugins

over the past week or 2 the script got rebuilt and installs differently now, using ReaPack instead.
FInally!
I can use the same for midi or software plugin ? And how ?
make a track with a virtual instrument, then click + at the bottom of sequencer to add that track to sequence.
The reapack link is giving an error message
can you paste the error message here?
@@TheREAPERBlog I finally got it.
I used my iPhone to download it
where is the github url link for this repository?
linked in video description

McArthur's Repo needs to be added to ReaPack. I'm sure this is in the forum post I linked to. Anyway this script has a lot of changes since this video

not in reapack yet, just a zip download on the forum.

Example:
- McSequencer sends MIDI out to CC60 (C4) by default
- VST Instrument Drum KICK is CC36
- Set the MIDI Transpose Note to Semitones = -24
Is a remapping that you can do one-shot and then save as a Track template and recall when you need.
sower was nice and cool but THIS is wooaaaa gonna try that tonite
Sower was too many steps for me to consider it really, and also last time I tried it didn't work on m1 mac though I haven't checked recently.
can't say I do not own enough sequencers tho ^^ @@TheREAPERBlog
Sower was kinda hard to set up and use but this one's the real deal.
