Lot of Vintage Project Model Trains - Locomotives & More! Unboxing

- A box from Florida showed up recently and I've been meaning to unbox it. Inside contained several vintage project model trains and locomotives (Likely 1960s era). Apparently non of them run however I believe with a bit of work many of them may be riding the rails once again in the not so distant future. I'd like to thank North Florida Rail Productions for sending this lot.
Nice haul......really like the Royal Blue
First off -- Congratulations on reaching 30K subscribers, Harrison! 🎉 The Royal Blue is going to look great on your layout. Santa Fe All the Way, yes, that's lots of Santa Fe. KUDOS to North Florida Rail Productions.
Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍
Hey SMT glad to see you got my package all the way from Florida! Sadly the shell of that R-S2 or R-S3 fell apart in shipping :( I’ve been wanting to send you these but $60 shipping price has deterred me, I finally scrounged up some extra cash for the shipping fee but I’m glad to send you some old classics!
Just remembered this but the royal blue can only run in reverse, the only issue it has is that a gear is cracked and missing a tooth so it’s a simple fix
@@Techmonies92a tooth😂?
@@MAXIMUMCAT_MX_ yea a gear tooth, also this comment is 2 years old y are u responding to it? 🥲
Wow what a haul. Looking forward to seeing them fixed and running. Have fun
Have the same Athearn Gp9, love how good the slow speed is on them.
I like the box of goodies you got today. You are so lucky. I wish people would send me some?
Love that new "Coming up"
Thanks!
Same here
@@SMTMainline Hello
Switcher which looks it has a broken cab is a Hobbytown. The plastic shell was by Hobbyline (separate company) and at times marketed by Hobbytown who later offered a metal shell. Both plastic and metal shells often show up on eBay if you feel you can't fix your current one. It's an Alco RS-2 or RS-3 and I have no idea how to tell them apart. RS-4 or 5 had 3-axle trucks and the body looks much the same as the one you have.
That CP timetable is really cool!
Jolly good show Harrison @SMT Mainline
Dude sent you the entire Santa Fe railroad in ho scale.
lol this is true
If only they also sent a Yellow Bonnet and a Kodachrome locomotive, would of almost covered every Santa Fe diesel scheme.
@@Killer-Of-Night Remember the Zebra Stripes
Just about, haha
@D Kendrick I may have sent him that
Harrison, thanks for your great videos, especially the servicing and resurrection of old locos. Here in the UK, I was interested to see in this video the Tyco/Mantua Santa Fe loco, it might be a GP20. I have one the same in NYC colours. It is 50 years old and runs just great even at a crawl, a tribute to T/Ms engineering. As it runs so well I am reluctant to try and service it, even though the brushes and commutator must need some attention. The thing is built like a tank and I have not yet figured out how to get inside of the truck without using cutting equipment or explosives, so I am looking forward to seeing you take the thing apart. It would be great if you could do that soon. Cheers.
Congrats on 30,0000 subscribers!!
congratulations on your 30,000 subscribers! 🚋🚈🚝🚝🚅🚄🚂
Hay SMT it’s Xander nice to see you
Great locomotives.. Suggestion. Make a nice show case and keep your trains in them. You really have a great collection.
Aggress
Those ATSF bookend schemes look sick!
It's actually called "Bookend" paint
Harrison congratulations on reaching 30,000 thousand subscribers- greetings from Argentina
Another great video and package. I finally got a blue colored steamer. But in g scale. Bachmann New Jersey central. Been trying for ho version but out bid. Got g scale for $50 so no complaints. Also got my first dcc sound GT. Trying to upgrade my engines. Eventually i will go through all my lots buys and separate the higher end ones from common ones.
That first one is a Vintage Athearn F unit. Hope it has the weight in it as they always go missing. They go forever!
the gulf tanker car is a walthers. i have the exact same one
great video Smt!
Ryan
Harrison, that F-3/7 is from a company that was bought out by Athearn in the late 50s, along with a company called Globe. Athearn continued to produce both drive systems through about 1959, when he introduced a simpler drive train. If you take care during teardown, and reassembly you will find they are smooth running units, although the motor in that F-7 might give you some problems. The brush holder mount on mine disintegrated, and I lost one of the brush holders in the black hole of my garage work shop.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the F-unit, it's going to be an interesting piece to fix up.
Any time, you're keeping the history of model railroading alive by reviving these antiques, and helping newcomers to the hobby understand how their models work. Keep up the good work.
Almost to 30k bro I’m excited!! So much cool stuff! Btw you got to have the dinosaur if its Sinclair!
Congrats on 30k :D
Excited for more!
P.S. The GP7/GP9 with the high short hood is actually something I have as well. Crazy!
Pretty soon you will need a separate house for just your HO engines!!! LOL
Nice looking stuff
Thanks!
@ have you ever seen a IHC gantry crane I have one I got as a kit but no no instructions
Lot of model trains in HO scale.
Cool.
My mega lot of N scale trains.
Locomotives DC and DCC with sound.
Freight cars and passengers.
Atlas.

Athearn.
Con Cord.
Red Caboose.
Intermountain.
Fun stuff!!
Wellllll Folks! Send me some locomotives too!
May the BUnits live forever
Looked nice, love it!
I am one of your favorite fans
Very cool lot SMT! as I mentioned before, it should be no trouble getting parts for the Athearn GP9 as they still make pretty much the entire drive systems for these old blue box locomotives, plus I've actually heard that you can turn these locomotives, mechanically, into Ready to Roll or Genesis locomotives complete with the ability to convert to DCC. Not sure if that would be a popular move with the purists, but the option is there! The rubber band drive F units are definitely unusual, don't think I've seen an AB set of those and as far as the locomotive that was in pieces, it appears to be an RS-1 or RS-3, hard to tell from that angle. Take care and congrats on 30k!
They sent you the entire ATSF Fleet
Sorta lol
#1 is Athearn, early gear drive
#2 Tyco, looks like number's been changed
#3 mate to #1
#4 Tender for Tyco Shifter 0-4-0 or the 0-6-0
#5 the BIg Six the tender goes to; likely early-mid 60s
#6 Remains of a Hobbytown RS2/3; 1950s era
#7 Athearn "GP9" circa early 60s, number also was changed
#8 Tyco, mid-70s Royal Blue 2-8-0 with tender drive
#9 Athearn streamlined observation
#10 same, RPO
#11 common Varney
#12 likely Mantua circa 1959, identical to early Tyco cars
#13 appears to be newer Athearn
The Royal Blue used to be somewhat desirable in good shape, but it's been a while since I had a nice one to try to sell.
Thanks for sharing your info!
I love the look of that locomotive at 7:33
It’s the dynamic brake blisters on the Gp9 that tell them apart from the Gp-7
Not entirely, some GP7's were equipped with Dynamic Brakes, while some GP9s were not equipped with them.
5:03 You only had ONE JOB, shipping company!
Also, that busted loco might be an RS-3 by Hobby Town
Amazing lot there. The gp20 one thing to watch out for is split plastic wheels . the 0-6-0 is a Tyco mantua known as the big 6 I have same type tender for one just gotta find the match to it eventually.the broken locomotive looks to be a Rs2 or RS3. The gp9 or gp7 basically same tjing as ypu said fans etc changes. The RS locomotives same thing Love the editing done here well done. Congrats on the 30k subs holy cow thats amazing.
i also just got my 2 diecast american flyers #433 #443 by gilbert :D
I clicked on this video faster then a Chinese bullet train
i clicked on it faster than a shinkansen
Im fat so I was pretty slow in clicking 😄
So close to 30k congrats!
I love your videos smt I do 😊
Thank you so much!!
Early bird! Great video!
A Royal Blue!? You simply are not old enough for one of those...send it to my road--I'll even cover the postage, and all will be square.😁👍
That's a good haul but loved the video
Great vidéo
When ur happy im happy bc i like trains
Those poor broken engines 😢
Also 8:31 dexter graffiti 😮
The EMD GP7 have two sets of louvers on the aft doors on the car body, to where as the EMD GP9 only has one louver on the aft door. Horse power on GP 7 is 1500 HP and GP 9 1750 HP, GP9 came in 4 different phases.
What happend to the daylight did the motor burn out
Interesting note. Save all change for my 6yr old. He calls his bank his treasure box. I go through the coins. While checking them out i found a 1922 Canadian penny. Didn't research it that much. But in some found it to be worth about $80. Hopefully it is or worth more. The only other coin found i have that old is liberty head 1921 silver dollar. The Canadian coin made me think smt.
It's only going to become more special overtime since Canada hasn't used pennies since around 2012/2013.
Wow didn't know that! Cool
69/70 very early use of the color mark aka pacman.
If that first locomotive, the Santa Fe, doesn't have headlight lenses, I have one here from the late 60's to early 70's. Rubber band drive Athearn made in Los Angeles, CA.
I have a few LA made band driven locomotives. One does have headlight lenses
Take more care when you unpack the items. Try scissors on the bubble wrap. Its quicker and less likely to damage the model.

The mobilgas tank car is the one u jump on in half life 2 route kanal
Santa Fe number nine is a GP 40
nice
Harrison, they are Tank Cars, not Tanker cars, (that's a wording news morons use, because they don't know what the correct words are!) It makes me cringe to hear that!!! I have about 20 books on tank cars here; the other word is _Never_ used in the Railroad (model or professional) print world. I blame the media for it's use, then carried over by unknowledgeable fans and kids. Sorry, just a big pet peeve. though the damage is already done. A Tanker is a ship. A tank Car is the railcar. Nuff Said
ALWAYS enjoy unboxings. no idea why, but fun. Was not even going to comment but uggg... cheers
Fra-gee-lay. Must be Italian...
"It says fragile"
What happend to the acela and daylight?
Yes please what happened?
The Acela has had an infamous flight off the layout a few years ago, the Daylight currently doesn't run ATM
