    I love rough collies, they're a vastly underrated breed. So gentle and intelligent.

    This guy rocks when it comes to Grooming Collies. Most groomers here where I live in Scranton, PA do not know how to groom a Collie. They usually cut too much fur off, even when I tell them to just a trim. They never listen.

    I have two Rough Collies. If you line brush once a week, their coat is so easy and minimal shedding. LOVE this breed.

      what's line brush? I have a rough collie and spend a FORTUNE having him groomed. They use de shed shampoo, then brush, then regular shampoo, then brush, then dry then brush again and trim paws, etc. There's another whole dog all over the floor when they are done. My collie is a purebred and he is a giant boy. They literally clear their schedule when he is booked to come in. I brush him regularly and I could keep brushing probably until he is bald.

    All that fur after grooming reminds me of the days with our lovely shelties. We got rough collies. Love some of the herd dog breeds. They are a delight.

    Thank you very much for this video. We have had several groomers in this town and they get mad at me because I tell them how to do their job. Some need to be more educated and I hope with this video they will see it and understand I'm not being judgemental I'm just being educational for all of us education does never hurt. Thank you very much

      I’m about ready to groom my own Collie! You’re right, some groomers don’t get it!!

      I’m getting my first Collie puppy this week and I’m already to apprehensive about using any local groomers. I’ve shown horses and cats and did my own grooming. Each breed has its own specifics and I’m to worried that someone won’t know a proper groom for collies.

    Amazing. I agree. The point is to look natural.

    I've had to cut off my boy's floof on his back legs. Sir likes to show off his sliding stops to the local cats which leaves him with green, matted hair which he will then try to bite off. So no more back flags. He still has his kilt and all the rest of his floof, Scotsmen do wear skirts after all, but we did get a bit concerned upon seeing him poke his back feet down his own throat. 😅

    How often should you groom your Collie like this versus just a comb or brush? I’ve shown long haired cats, and I would run a comb through them daily, and then did a more in-depth groom for shows.

    • @Artero.PetCare.International

      One time a month will be ok. You have to brush him daily, of course haha

      @@Artero.PetCare.International Thank You! Obviously brush daily - That’s part of the fun of having long haired pets.

    Thank you for sharing this! It was fascinating to me as I have two rough collies. Overall, what was the entire time for grooming this dog, because obviously this dog is well maintained. Do you have any suggestions for when a collie has deep matting. Typically, I just cut out the mats if they go all the way to the skin.

    Thank you for this video ! We just inherited a Collie. What about the fur between the toes and foot pad?

    • @Artero.PetCare.International
      @Artero.PetCare.International  3 года назад +4

      The hair on the pads should be removed with a machine or scissors. The hair between the fingers should not be removed to leave the correct shape on the hand.

    Thank you for the video. I have a question for you regarding a Rough Collies hair growth. How long does hair take to grow back if a rake was used? We were told to use a rake on our Collie's hair and unfortunately it removed the fluff he had. Thank you!

      It's not a sheltie, this is a Collie, it's just not an American type collie. This is more of a European type collie which are smaller and a little foxier in the face. My collie looks like this one, shelties are even smaller than this although a large sheltie and a small European collie can be almost the same size

    • @noname6389
      @noname6389 2 месяца назад

      True, the British type is just more filigree/ delicate than the American type :) @@darastrickland5308
