My blue merle collie, Lemmy, is today 13,5 years old… he’s had a full life, working with me for 10 years+ and now is a senior, just being at home, enjoying his last months in life… No hearing, almost blind, bad balance, arthreitis, the whole nine. He’s been the joy of my life since 3 weeks old and I’m sooo thankful for our years together. Such a gem!!
I had a rough collie for 12 years. Even though her death was quite traumatic and slow, she was very graceful through it. She was a Barker but not aggressive at all. She's a great watchdog.
My boy just hit 76 pounds. Big boy! And oh, the barking. He takes his job very seriously, keeping things out of our yard - cats, birds, rabbits, etc. don't stand a chance. But he loves humans and watches over my chickens and bunny to keep them safe. On the downside, he has a strong desire to herd and chase trucks, bikes, golf carts, etc. and since we live on a corner, it can be annoying. The UPS truck is his nemesis. A fenced yard is a must. Also, keeping up with the coat is extremely important. Don't listen to those who say they only brush every few weeks - more like every other day or the coat will mat up in certain areas, needing to have them cut out.

What the hell is a’rough collie’?…. I had a collie for 14 years before she died…she was beautiful, intelligent and sweet. She died of cancer after that…..but I have never heard of a ‘rough collie’…I think you’re making it up…AKC only used the term ‘collie’

I think what the person means is that back in the day, a lassie collie was just called “collie”. All the other names came later.
