Mick’s ride is “Precious”, a 2011 Camaro SS with a 7 liter LS Next V8. It’s got a 3-stage dry sump system that also lubes the twin, 60mm ball-bearing turbos. Jerry brought his cleeeean Civic EG hatchback powered by a turbocharged LS VTEC i4 from an Acura mated to a 5-speed manual trans from a CRV. They both got some sweet beadlock wheels, but who’s gonna put the power down on the tarmac?

1 exception. This 50 year old dude I know who has a bone stock EG with like 400,000 miles on it. He's never had to open up the engine or transmission.
@nasonguy that old man's civic is scariest of them all. How the hell did he make the seals so bullet proof. I was blowing valve seals almost every month until I did a oil catch can and breaking horizontal differential bearings a couple times now. Lol

I don't know what I was expecting but that civic launched so hard. So hard.
It's all about how much power you can put down into the tarmac compared to the weight. Once you break traction you can have infinite HP and it doesn't help you get down the track any faster.

As a 2018 ZL1 owner I gotta respect that EG. I was big into Honda's back in the 90's and the EG hatch is one of my favorites.
Just became a Camaro fan bought an SS love the power they have with zero tune and the popping is amazing very muscle car looking white with the black stripes

Yeah he's definitely not making 3000 hp. His claimed 1/2 mile trap speed of 205 is way too slow. World record 1/2 mile speed was set by a 2200hp Hurican that trapped at 259.

Growing up through the 90s street racing days, oh how I miss watching little 4 bangers make the "no replacement for displacement" crew eat crow. This brings back memories.
Power to weight is the difference. It would be very hard, but with the right P - W ratio you could beat an ACR Viper with a four banger.
Never made me eat crow! There were lots that got turbos that thought they could! But I had a car that would hang the tires on the street in 2003!

Yeah rice burners were and are a disgrace. I remember the street racing got shut down in san diego because the rice crowd couldnt stop crashing and shooting at each other.

I’m guess it’s 3,000 on kill and with an optimistic dyno. I’d guess it’s more like 2,000. With the unprepped runway he would have been better off at about 1500 or less.
Especially if it only has 66mm turbos. They’d be pretty hard pressed to make 3,000.

I remember as a child, my first Drag race experience was at Darlington drag strip 1/4. I sure that it was still 1320. NHRA. Kenny Bernstein drove the Budweiser king funny car. 3000 hp. I don't remember the ETs, but 260 mph was top of the field. Crazy, just crazy

It probably does have 3000 but traction probably only holds 1000 before it breaks loose and once hes spinning he can only ride it out which doesn't help or let the car bog to get traction again
Yeah I immediately picked up on that when he said 204 in the ½ and traps 7's in the ¼... so did Zach but he's too respectful to call him out. Pro Stock guys are running high 6's trapping 210, so in theory a 7 sec quarter should get you trapping well over 200 in the half.

I miss my b16A swapped CR-X. The concept of lots of power with good grip and little weight is the key. Balance those out and you have a winner every time.
