Lol I thought it was satire halfway through the list because wut??? But to each their own lol I love any kind of mimi discourse so thanks for the content 🙌🏽
Emotions and Debut towards the bottom is truly a crime. Emotions is very different to the other two sonically IMO. Based in 70s Motown soul, disco, jazz, some contemporary R&B.
So so glad with MOAIA and Caution being in the top five. They absolutely deserve those spots and I think most lambs would agree! I was SHOOK seeing Music Box at the bottom though😭
It takes a musical ear to understand what she did with memoirs. It’s one of her most cohesive and sonically consistent works and she blended a perfect nighttime 2000s RnB mix with seamless transitions assisted by interludes, postludes, and preludes. It’s also a very emotional album
@@jaybeetv5808 YOU SAID IT SO WELLL, I’ll say the beauty of the album is how the sadness is creeping all through this album even on the uptempo, happy kinda songs upon the album. But it really and truly takes a music lover to really understand this misunderstood record many seem to pass by or don’t understand but you truly said it best !
I'm delighted to see Caution and Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel getting the love they deserve.. Memoirs is my #2 favourite, #3 would be Caution 💯 glad to see somebody else loving them 😍
You should do a Brandy or Toni Braxton album rankings… something outside of your stan list. Alone in Love by Mariah to me is one of her underrated songs. For that song to be the first she has ever written, it’s immaculate.
Happy you gave Caution it's praise, although I do think most lambs and even casual listeners rate it quite highly. Objectively, it's such a coherent body of work for someone this far in their career, and honestly R&Briah can do no wrong! Sadly what you said is true about labels just not giving legacy/older artists the push they deserve. At least we get to see Mariah actually get hefty budgets during Christmas, but hopefully they'll actually go in on the next project. Also, the 4-track run you mentioned on Butterfly is insaaane.
Having Mariah's first three albums collectively at the bottom is _wild_ 😅But, I understand that perhaps it's dependent on how and when you came to Mariah's music in the first place. You said they were the last albums you ventured into in-full, and it sounds like you were already more familiar with post-Emancipation Mariah and the style(s) of music she was making then. I would have them scattered about my own list a little more spread out, and I'm also personally just a pretty big fan of the style/genres of music on those albums. I really like what you had to say about most of these, though. Although I wouldn't have placed it as high, I do think that Caution deserves the praise you gave it. I went hard for that album when it came out (esp the title track and 8th Grade).
Abt Cool On You, Mariah actually said that she wanted to include it on the album except at some point she lost the reccording and only found it back years later
All of Mariah's albums are excellent. She is an artist of quality with an extensive, exquisite catalog. HOWEVER there are some albums that have changed the landscape of modern music. 1. Butterfly ~ any song from this magnus opus would be the career highlight of any other r&b artist. It really is that good. Unparalleled artistry in vocals, songwriting & production. A brilliant, blueprint album still being rediscovered to this day. ❤ 2. Daydream ~ a game changing, record breaking commercial triumph. The statistics & the credentials on this record speak for themselves. ❤ 3. Emancipation ~ the single greatest comeback in modern musical history - la times. Packed with all kinds of Mariah talent, from the classic hit songs, the iconic videos, the gorgeous photographs, the ensembles, the reach, everything top notch, grade A quality. ❤ Bow down to Queen A Mariah Carey. ❤🎉
Jay z did actually collab with mariah later in 2005 woth the shake it off remix btw. I personally think this is a solid ranking and btw a lot of people say caution is a top 5 album. And thank you for putting memiors that high because for the fans its either they dont pay it any mind or they defend it with their life and im the defender because i love that album. Memiors and me i am mariah are personally very attached to me because they're very nostalgic for me because thats when i was introduced to her. Great ranking
my personal ranking would be: 1. Butterfly (1997) 2. Daydream (1995) 3. The Emancipation of Mimi (2005) 4. Charmbracelet (2002) 5. Emotions (1992) 6. Caution (2018) 7. Mariah Carey (1990) 8. E=MC2 (2008) 9. Rainbow (1999) 10. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (2009) 11. Music Box (1993) 12. Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse (2014) 13. Glitter (2001) and in the fanbase memoirs is definitely usually lower and caution is usually top 5
As a newer lamb CAUTION IS ABSOLUTELY #1 for me “With you” was a song that really made me dive deep deep into Mariah’s discography and it has NO skips “Runway”and “with you” are my absolute favorites from that album this video is amazing btw❤
my top 4 would prolly be Debut, Emotions, Charmbracelet, n E=MC2 also i don't understand how ppl say e=mc2 sounds like a worse TEOM, like at least to me they don't sound similar at all they both have different vibes i feel bad that i prolly wouldn't put butterfly or daydream higher on a ranking but i can't listen to albums full of ballads also caution was the album that introduced me to her, i knew who she was before but that was the first album i listened to
Music Box to me is kinda like Daydream just in it’s own essence if that makes since. Butterfly and Rainbow would probably come next afterwards mainly due to the context of her shift into the hip-hop genre. As for her debut I do love a few of the songs on there like “Vision of Love” and “Vanishing” some of the deep cuts on her debut felt like something her record label at time put together on the final track list. I can kinda say the same for “Emotions”. A lot of the songs on the album. But there are some that I do skip, Charmbracelet is definitely a incredible album for each song is a banger and despite the way how it was promoted at the time it doesn’t take away from it’s quality and progression on the album.
i don't agree on everything, but glad to see MOAIA up so high. it's a simpler album production-wise, but the songs are so good and her lyrics are incredibly playful and fun.
For the justice of the classics, for the love, admiration and respect that i have for Mariah Carey knowing that she was the artist with the most hits accumulated in the 90s, topping the charts on the billboard, here is my honorable rank 1 - Daydream (1995) 2 - Music Box (1993) ( YES, it's a masterpiece ! ) 3 - Mariah Carey (1990) 4 - Butterfly (1997) 5 - Emotions (1991) 6 - Merry Christmas (1994) 7 - Mtv Unplugged (1992) 8- The Rarities (2020) 9 - Number 1's (1998) 10 - Rainbow (1999) 11 - Charmbracelet (2002) 12 - The Emancipation of Mimi (2005) 13 - Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel (2009) 14 - E = MC² (2008) 15 - Glitter (2001) 16 - Me I am Mariah (2014) 17 - Caution (2018) And that's it
Butterfly is probably one of the best albums of all time by any artist IMO and TEOM is amazing too. I can agree that those are her top 2. I feel like you have the same outlook that I have on her discography with a few minor differences. I don’t know why, but I feel like Mariah might agree with at least some of your ranking! You said things she’s said herself, like shading Hero for being too cliche or when you were talking about singles selection etc. I also feel like a lot of lambs would disagree with your ranking, like placing Music Box last. Many would place it at least top 3. Not me though. I agree that she just got better and more refined with time and she also gained more control over her music creation.
Been a die hard for a decade now and my list is: 1. Butterfly 2. Daydream 3. Emotions 4. Emancipation 5. Charmbracelet 6. Mariah Carey 7. Music Box 8. Rainbow 9. Memoirs 10. E=MC² 11. MIAMTEC 12. Caution 13. Glitter

I had always heard the mariah hits ofc, but I think charmbracelet is the album that made me want to get into mariah. the 2000s is my favorite era of music and when spotify decided to put boy (i need you) on one of my playlists randomly i was floored. and then when i went through her discography and listened to the album i was gagged again. when i found out this album went under the radar i was so upset bc it really deserved to be big. but also i like that its jot really mainstream cos it makesvthe deep cuts that more sweet and intimate!! I really consider it like the little sister of mariahs discography. I also really like the album cover!! charmbracelet stans rise please!
I think Butterfly is the more important album for Mariah's catalogue as well as R&B, but Mimi is without a doubt her most timeless album. Most of the tracks with a few exceptions could have been made today in nearly the exact same way and it wouldn't have sounded out of place. Case in point - Bruno Mars, who is arguably the most successful male R&B artist since Michael Jackson, clearly channelled this album quite a bit on his last solo record (examples compare WBT to That's How I Like It and Circles/IWYK/FLAB to Too Good To Say Goodbye) and even moreso but less vividly so on his collab album with Anderson. Definitely the right Top 2.
Memoirs is like the best album all the songs are just so ahead the times like all the songs on that album should be like Tik Tok hits bc of how ahead of the time it was and if she chose different songs to promote it would’ve been more popular
It’s funny you say that because you thought Mariah was a new artist and that’s what I love about Mariah that she was able to go with the time and her music is just so timeless like We Belong Together still sounds as fresh as it did when it first came it out
I like Mariah's 90's albums the best and I enjoy them a lot especially the top 4 but Butterfly has a number of excellent songs too. I like the soulful oldschool r and b sound with a gospel and pop flavor and influences of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Whitney Houston but Mariah also wrote her own songs and challenged her vocals most on these early albums and had the most stunning purity of virtuoso delivery and densest emotional palette to me. The production is also warmer and more expansive and lets the music breathe more in my opinion. 1. Emotions 1991- this is the most soulful, authentic and consistently impressive in quality to me 2. Mariah Carey Debut - Really close to being as impressive as Emotions 3. Music Box - the extra tracks on the 3 cd set are fantastic like Everything Fades Away and Do You Think of Me. This one is rising up in the list for me and with the bonus tracks is really close to neck and neck with the first two. 4. Daydream 5. Butterfly
I agree with your take about Memoirs being the real successor to Emancipation. Had it switched places with E=MC², I feel like it would've been more successful. And the critics agree with you about Caution. It's her most critically acclaimed album in her career.
Sooo I personally would NOT have put Memoirs that high lol. I wasn't a fan of the dream doing the whooole album, though it helped with cohesion and story telling I did not love the use of artificial production through out and less of the soul sound we had from Mimi or even the fresh clean production sound of E=MC2. Production wise not much sounds as clean as I'm that Chick/Touch my body which disappointed me, I felt like Memoirs sounded dated at the time and still feel that way now. Obsessed really threw me off then lol. I do enjoy, More than friends, The impossible (reprise) and the angels cry interlude though but the other songs just sound too harsh and synth heavy! I also would've had Charmbracelet higher and I'm so glad you grouped the first 3 albums together izdgfdsouh, they are just SOOO adult contemporary and dreary, though her vocals are amazing. And I agree with everything you said about Caution, it absoutely deserves to be up there AND the album cover/colour theme is also iconic, she just brought it and released her most critically acclaimed album 28 years into her career! Truly one of a kind. Thanks for doing this rating, I enjoyed it! My top 5 would be Mimi, Caution, Butterfly, Daydream and Me. I am Mariah (in terms of songs I actually listen to lol as opposed to quality cos her voice was waaay too over produced here which I was glad wasn't the case for Caution).
Well my ranking is defiently different lmao 1. Butterfly 2. Daydream 3. Thee Emancipation Of Mimi 4. Music Box (extremely controversial but that album is amazing) 5. Charmbraclet 6. Memoirs 7. Emotions 8. Rainbow 9. Glitter 10. E=MC2 11. Caution 12. Mariah Carey 13. MIAM
I will finish the video but need to stop to say Emotions lumped at the bottom! 🤯 Can't Let Go, Make It Happen, If It's Over, and it ends perfectly with Till the End of Time and The Wind You have a right to ur opinion and I will continue the video 👀🍿
My MC album ranking 1. Butterfly 2. The Emancipation of Mimi 3. Mariah Carey 4. Caution 5. Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel 6. Daydream 7. Glitter 8. Emotions 9. Charmbracelet 10. The Elusive Chanteuse 11. Rainbow 12. Music Box 13. E=MC²
Interesting order. My favourite is Daydream. Mainly because it's tight and shorter than Butterfly. Butterfly used to be my favourite but it's too long in my opinion. Daydream is incredible.
My Ranking: 1. Butterfly🦋 2. Emotions😆 3. Caution⚠ 4. Music Box🎶 5. The Emancipation of Mini✨ 6. Mariah Carey🤩 7. Rainbow🌈 8. Daydream☺ 9. E=MC2😎 10. Glitter🎊 11. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel😇 12. Charmbracelet 13. Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse

My Ranking 1. Butterfly 2. Emotions 3. The Emancipation of Mimi 4. Mariah Carey 5. Music Box 6. Day Dream 7. Caution 8. E=MC2 9. Rainbow 10. Charmbraclet 11. Me I Am Mariah The Elusive Chaunteuse 12. Memoris of an imperfect Angel 13. Glitter

My top kinda goes like this 13-Music Box 12-Me I Am Mariah 11-Mariah Carey 10-Rainbow 9-E=MC2 8-Glitter 7-Emotions 6-Caution 5-Daydream 4-Charmbracelet 3-Emancipation 2-Memoirs 1-Butterfly
If Mariah label had pushed caution and took advantage of having lil Kim and cardi on no no no remix it would’ve been a hit. Also her album me I am would sold and done solid had she not kept pushing it back beautiful was getting great air play and the remix really was making waves until she got hurt but it would’ve done way better as she was still in that space where people were interested
Caution is very good, the only problem that is see on this Album is that literally the songs are very similar and are a little forgetful, I like the bits but at the same times feels like the whole album has the same bit or same instrumental so idk, I love it but I think it could have more variety of instrumentación
You break down & ranked albums from Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, P!nk, Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Usher, JOJO, Little Mix and Chris Brown
16:05 2018 best album was Joyride from Tinashe. Can't forget about Jorda Smith Lost & Found. Caution hardly have any skips. I still think she could've came harder
Man, people have so much different taste or sense of quality hearing. I have read hundreds comments and looked at all differnt ranking of her albums. Some rank E=mc2 as the best, others butterfly etc. As a hardcore mariah fan who has all her albums, i too rank her 1st 2 albums as her best. I would rank her 3rd album as her 3rd best.
I’m actually very glad to hear that it helped you. It really is a beautiful song, just not my favorite. I’m glad you’re still here with us to enjoy it. ❤️
don’t drag me too hard 🤭

Omg we have the same top 7!!!
Just daydream at #2 and butterfly at #1 for me
A lot of taste!
one sweet day,, is the first song that made me fall in love with mariah.. so daydream it is...
Definitely the right Top 2.
here’s my ranking
1. butterfly
2. daydream
3. the emancipation of mimi
4. self-titled
5. caution
6. glitter
7. me i am mariah
8. memoirs
9. emotions
10. rainbow
11. charmbracelet
12. e=mc2
13. music box
i love emotions, charmbracelet, and emancipation
I was just registering to all her albums in order I only made it the the emancipation of meme. So far my favorites are butterfly and charm bracelet.
1. Emotions 1991- this is the most soulful, authentic and consistently impressive in quality to me
2. Mariah Carey Debut - Really close to being as impressive as Emotions
3. Music Box - the extra tracks on the 3 cd set are fantastic like Everything Fades Away and Do You Think of Me. This one is rising up in the list for me and with the bonus tracks is really close to neck and neck with the first two.
4. Daydream
5. Butterfly
Hi WayneTv can you please do a Ranking of George Michael discography
Thank you for giving Charm bracelet her flowers 🥰
🤗
I agree with your take about Memoirs being the real successor to Emancipation. Had it switched places with E=MC², I feel like it would've been more successful. And the critics agree with you about Caution. It's her most critically acclaimed album in her career.
Oh!! Please do a Whitney Houston álbum ranking.
I could listen to you speak all day (nite?) long. great list.
I am Mariah (in terms of songs I actually listen to lol as opposed to quality cos her voice was waaay too over produced here which I was glad wasn't the case for Caution).
i like how honest you are tho
Well my ranking is defiently different lmao

Interesting order. My favourite is Daydream. Mainly because it's tight and shorter than Butterfly. Butterfly used to be my favourite but it's too long in my opinion. Daydream is incredible.

can u rank Mariah the Scientist’s albums once she drops “To Be Eaten Alive” on friday
#1 is Mimi, witha close #2 Butterfly 🦋
Please do a Michael Jackson album rank next!
Justice for standing o
embarrassing your slander for her early work. I'm sorry to sound harsh but like... you seriously need to familiarize yourself to it
Caution over Daydream?!!!!!!!
Yes 🤭
You break down & ranked albums from Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, P!nk, Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Usher, JOJO, Little Mix and Chris Brown
E=MC2 had the wrong singles. Migrate should’ve been a single early on probably after touch my body
16:05 2018 best album was Joyride from Tinashe. Can't forget about Jorda Smith Lost & Found. Caution hardly have any skips. I still think she could've came harder
Music box is her best selling album tho it has sold over 34 million copies worldwide , so how is this her worst album it should be glitter
Her first two albums are still her best..
Butterfly and Emancipation top 2 for sure (:
Can you do Janet next?
Glitter deserved way higher too
Hero saved me from suicide so I respectfully disagree with your opinion.
I’m actually very glad to hear that it helped you. It really is a beautiful song, just not my favorite. I’m glad you’re still here with us to enjoy it. ❤️
