Because he's actually playing it incorrectly. For one, the riff ends on 2nd fret A string, but he's ending in on an open E string...and the chords are wrong as well. There's no muting of the G string in the first chord. Just play an F#sus4. And the second chord is a straight up A major chord, not an Asus2 as he is playing.
I’m glad I found this. I was learning off Music Is Win’s video where he was teaching his wife and he didn’t say they dropped from E to D. Couldn’t figure out why it was sounding off, as I was tuned normally to EADGBE.
For anyone struggling to mute that open G with the F# power chord, you can also just use your pinky to mute to it if you angle your fingers to about 45 degrees (wish I could show yall what I mean with a picture). It makes transitioning easier, and has the same effect.
I absolutely love your videos..I prefer your videos over most other RUclipsrs..as a beginning with only around 6-8 weeks of practice I find your videos extremely helpful more than most...
Great lesson! I like how you take your time on the fretboard. Verbally identifying what string and fret while you play it and breaking the song into small parts is really helpful too.

Just wanted to say: I’ve been playing guitar 4 months, I learned the fundamental lessons from my uncle whose played since he was 4 years old, but largely I’ve taught myself how to play. And I learned by watching some of Marty Schwartz free lessons here on RUclips. I still have a long way to go but every song I can play I’ve used his tutorials first than downloaded the tabs later. Great guy and fun to play along with and he makes learning songs interesting.

That's exactly the reason why I was done with that video after not even 1 minute. Telling people that it is fun, pretty easy and iconic and can't even break down the easiest shit correctly is not what i want to learn, no matter if it's paid or for free. TheAwkward One listen to the actual song he’s missing a note. At the beginning you play D twice but you’re supposed to have a connecting note at the end of the intro riff when it restarts every time. Listen closely to both and you’ll hear it
