You DEFINITELY have to appreciate Dave’s style of “quiet drumming” during this whole unplugged set.

@@miikkalehtonen3389 … I just appreciated his restraint here. To me, from a technical standpoint, it looks rather difficult to play that “low” but also make it sound amazing at the same time. I’ve just always thought about Dave’s style of playing ever since I watched this in 1993 on MTV for some reason?!?!

Of all of the songs Nirvana has performed, my favorites are the acoustic performances. I am so glad that there is an unplugged. It is great to see a non wild performance with Dave playing a soft drum. Just to hear Kurt's mild voice is amazing. I love this live performance.

Haven't Kurt started out with an acoustic guitar? He's a good player actually, not much unwanted sounds coming out, very straight forward punk sound and emotional lyricism
Heard that the moment i first listened to Nirvana, on my sis' burned disc in a car, with "best of"
Also agree that the drum sticks add a ton to the show's character

@@muntmunt3155 That's too bad he decided to commit suicide... but one consolation is even in death he was thoughtful. He wiped the prints from the gun after he shot himself. Look at the facts. 3x the lethal amount of heroin. He didn't die or pass out. He wrote "suicide note" then he had enough function to point a shot gun at his head. I still haven't figured out how he would have reached the trigger, but after all that, he wiped the prints. Clearly a suicide and not a murder.

@@user-sr9qe2zl9wthat’s actually what happened. In rehearsals and even during sound check he was having a hard time playing quiet enough and was drowning everyone and his drums were bleeding into all the microphones. Or he would start a song playing quiet but once he was in the zone he’d get louder and louder. So they went and got him those light sticks that are basically little bundles of thin lightweight wood taped together. I think they’re called Rutes but don’t quote me on that, im a guitarist not a drummer lol. That’s also why he looks so focused on hitting as quiet as possible throughout the whole show.

You can hear the pain in his voice and looking back knowing what happened to him it probably was pain. "Where did you sleep last night" and "The man who sold the world" are the only songs that have ever brought me to tears. And not cuz it speaks to a part of me or my life. It's purely his performance that hits me. This audience had no clue what they were witnessing at the time.

I am a year older than you and with growing up in the 1980's, being exposed to Hard Rock/Heavy Metal, then having it turn into the Hair Bands of the late 1980's, our generation was looking for something different. Bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, etc... brought us the Seattle Sound and it was EXACTLY what we were all looking for. I listened to a WIDE range of music, but at that time of my life (graduated HS in 1995), this was my favorite type of music to listen to. From Beastie Boys to Rage Against the Machine. From NWA to Young MC. From Pantara to Metallica. I love it all but when I wanted to jam and let time slip away, I always listened to that Grunge sound.
In regards to Kurt dying at 27, or should I say, being killed at 27..... He was a candle burning at both ends. He was going to burn out anyway. People like him always do. Jim Morrison (The Doors), Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Brian Jones (Rolling Stones), Jimi Hendrix., Janis Joplin., Robert Johnson and more.
Like Chris Farley & John Belushi , we would all love to see them lived out long lives of more great material and comedy, but it just wasn't in the cards. Some candles burn bright for a long time. Some burn and then fizzle out. Some candles are burned at both ends and just can't last.
Some of the best were this way....and maybe that's what made them legends? Who knows.

@@seamusmcsorley7638& all in this post: MTV would *never* post this video/concert without multiple rehearsals just for performance 'perfection' and album sales (and even using MTV's name alone signifies a shit ton of work on behalf of the band just to be able to say 'MTV'") ... that being said, there is no reason to call people names for not knowing protocol... Nirvana unplugged in Alice in chains unplugged are the two best unplugged sessions ever. This was in 1993 the year i graduated highschool and Nirvana, Alice in chains and Soundgarden were the soundtrack to my life same with Temple of the dog and mad season. It was a great time to be alive and lived in Seattle. The air was electric with inspiration from musicians and artists and it seemed like everyone was brought together and supported each other through the music and art along with the handmade jewelry and clothes and the biggest hempfests in the world were in Seattle and that movement made Washington State the first state that was able to sell marijuana legally for 21 and older, weed has always been a huge part of the culture here. We needed something to counteract the lack of sunshine.

@@RychleTube Glad you said it, I was going to have to correct it otherwise. It's one of the few I need to do so with. We're here communicating via language, grammar and spellingz are therefore important. Similarly for there/they're/their, where/were, and your/you're. I find a lot of people don't know that an apostrophe almost always denotes a missing letter, unless we are talking possessives (that then leads to its and it's *sigh*). After telling them this, they seem to do much better generally. That and explaining that there is never any should/would/could "of," it is all "have." Have to make sure you don't just come across as pedantic and anal, or just offensive, because for me it is about teaching people for our betterment, not for me to be a dick lol. Being a dick about it is kinda hard to avoid sometimes, though, people can get so touchy when you point it out. Like it is your fault they come across as though they are retarded. As you can tell, I have been dealing with it a fair bit today.
