Hard to believe Frusciante had never been in a band before the Chili Peppers and just came out of the gates with such advanced and beautiful chord arrangements. Shows how far love and dedication to your craft can get you
Right.. I guess that's what 14 hours practice a day for your whole life can do
@@nicegli4372 Does/did he practice fourteen hours a day?
@@ryand141 he said before the peppers he practiced that much
@@nicegli4372 That's impressive. Not surprising he's good. Do you know any good books to buy on music theory by any chance for guitar?
@@nicegli4372 Frusciante seems to come up with some killer riffs. I like his sound if that makes sense.
Honestly I don't think anyone is going to get upset if you do a ton of rhcp. Its all just so amazing, and the getaway is really showing off some of Josh Klinghoffer's skills and its all just so tasty.
Thanks, I agree!
These are not Josh’s riffs😆. All the tasty amazing stuff is John Frusciante
@@beohyl I think he's referring to the album The Getaway, but agree it can easily get lost in translation
Oh so when Marty does it it’s ok but when I do it jamming my bassist hates my guts.
John Frusciante was the guitarist buddy!😉👍🏽
Still golden 7 years later!! Thanks Marty!! 🫵🏻👊🏻🤙🏻
I’ve been coming back to this video ever since I started playing guitar and every time it was too hard for me and I’ve come back today and I was finally able to learn the whole thing and play it! Thank you for all the lessons Marty!
yesss! :D love to hear that
this comment rocks!!!
you've just finally inspired me to play it. Kept pushing myself to hard and got angry and that slide !! but now I'm determined 🙌
Same here! I gave up so many times in the past few years, but I finally stuck to it the past few weeks and learned it! 😊
agreed more RHCP and some scale lessons maybe
Dude you’ve taught millions of people how to jam with clear and easy instructions. What an absolute legend
If someone dislikes a lesson Marty does, it would be good if they gave a valid/educational reason.
Can't go wrong with more RHCP
OmnipotentO I
Except this tab is 50% wrong.
@@matguerra333 You mind pointing whereabouts?
This guy "can't stop" with the rhcp! 😂
Marty just
Cant stop
Playing rhcp
This is the first entire song I've learned on electric guitar. I'm having so much fun with it. Thanks for such a great walk through.
YES! love this song! I can already play it but there's no harm in watching the video! Great work Marty!
And give us more RHCP
You're a wonderful human being, Marty.
Marty, you have helped me through my journey of learning guitar. I started with you’re beginners lessons then slowly got to where I am now and I cannot thank you enough!
Great lesson. I’m a beginner, so I really like how Marty breaks it down, explains, plays it slowly and demos things several times. Awesome style of teaching, thank you!! I’ll be sure to check out other lessons.
Hey Lyle, Hope your guitar playing is going good, You've really taken a leap by learning a song like this. No way i'd teach this song to a beginner myself but you've certainly challenged yourself. Check out Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam, Marty has done a tutorial for it. Very hard to perfect.... that one will test you out =)
FoxHound will do thank you
+Marty Music dude you're the best. I've been watching your videos since I was about 12 when I wasn't as serious about guitar but I can say that your videos have helped me become the guitar player I am today and I thank you for that.
I'm a 39 yr old player that's trying to remember my roots when I was 11. You're vids are cool because I re learn the songs in the first 30 secs of your vids. I just needed to see someone play it. Good shit brother. Keep it up. Don't change a thing.
Marty, your videos are so well laid out and explained. I always check yours first for any song. I think what you do best is to not rush things. I like how you repeat things over and over instead of explaining it once and moving on.
Love this man. One of my favorite songs growing up. I remember waiting for it to play on the radio and hitting record on the jam box to have it on cassette!
AWESOME tutorial, gotta love you for that
I have mild cerebral palsy mild left side and your lessons break it down cool I've come along way with my playing thanks to you ,thank you
Playing this song right is so much about feel, Marty really nails it
Love it man! How about Wet Sand?
AGREED
If anybody's counting, I think this makes a round four or five Red Hot chili peppers songs alone that you helped me through tonight! Let alone every time I type in, ... tutorial...
Your videos seem to always be at the top of the search. So now I pretty much let it roll, and I learn everything correctly. So super huge thank you, and without a doubt, I will consult this channel before playing any songs around civilized people, ever again.
I solemnly swear to the guitar gods to not screw up perfect songs anymore.
Love it Marty, Thank you!!! One of my Favorite RHCP songs & not too hard to play. Really enjoy the way you break the leson's down. Thanks again.
Marty working and cranking out videos on a Labour day!?! That's why we all love you dude, thank you so much for this lesson one of my favorite songs ever, I've always loved the groove of that first riff and now I'll be able to play, Marty your the king brother!!!
Thanks Joe. Well, I did film this one yesterday so technically bla bla bla
Marty Music hey man it's close enough for govuhment work ha ha, I love your playing style and the way you break it all down, it shows that you really know your stuff
RHCP - Dosed 🤘🏽

Thansk for posting this lesson.
This is one of those songs that draw me in the moment I i hear the intro.
I love playing this song cause of how relaxing it is to just chill out and jam to an amazing tune. its the same with lots of rhcp songs.
Marry could you please do a lesson for "My Friends" by the Chili Peppers?

YES
i've wanted to do what i did when i first started playing regularly at ages 14-17 (back then i learned full American Idiot Album and Dookie etc) I wanna learn FULL RHCP *Stadium Arcadium* album as well as the full *Blood Sugar Sex Magik* album - so if you ever feel like doing a multi video special playlist series on a full album start to finish - i'd love it and other Frusciante fans would love it to
You shoulld follow Dave Simpson then. Hes a hig Frusciante fan and has many tips on uow to get his sounds. Pedals he uses. Did you know there are Frusciante isolated guitar tracks ? Of whole albums my friend !!!
@@eweegeewa god damn i didnt know that.... backing tracks here i come.
Amazing lesson. Kudos to you, and this also shows how inventive and great Frusciante is.
Hey Marty! i would like to express my gratitude to you providing such educational and light-hearted videos! Keep it up

so killer! Nice work Marty. Your lessons are appreciated.
I really appreciate that Joseph! Thanks for supporting me by supporting this channel "MartyMusic" - All my best!
Funny to actually get a reply back. Dude, I've been totally turned back on to learning more licks again after finding your videos. Sold my Epiphone SG and got the new Music Man Cutlass. Stepping up my game to keep up with you. I need real lessons (in the form of scales, styles and full songs). I've watched a bunch of your videos and have a lot more to go, but which of your websites/programs do you recommend?
Marty it would be great to get a lesson or just a few concepts on SRV version of "Little Wing" .. plus you know you will have some fun with that one man!
Brilliant! Thanks Marty. Such a great song, gets overlooked I reckon.
One of the best guitar licks ever.
Great stuff again... I never get bored of this RHCP lessons 👍

The Solo in particular is what I want to know how to play from that song lol but the entire song as a lesson would be amazing haha

Be lookin' forward to em! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Havent picked up a guitar in 30 years and was never any good but started again to be able to play with my Son. Finding your lessons excellent, some easier than others but you really break it down well and show exactly how to do it. I have never played better but I am still not very good :-p. Thanks, I really appreciate the effort you have put in.
I really appreciate that very much Harry! So much more NEW content coming right here to "MartyMusic" - Stay Tuned and thanks again!
Marty Dude you are Completely Awesome!!!! Thanks for responding to my request for 2 seconds on tone in the 1st video after I asked you!! THis Video is So much fun. I am loving your new Channel with the more in depth videos!!
Does your divided by 13 have a reverb setting? Do you leave that 1/2 way too? or Just bass mid treble
no reverb on the amp so I use a Srtrymon "Blues Sky" for it. On the amps that DO have reverb I don't have it halfway up, I "Season to taste"
Oh thank you one of my favorite songs ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you excellent perfect YOU ARE THE BEST MARTY!
Thanks so much Alexander! I appreciate you supporting me here with "MartyMusic" my friend! So man more BRAND NEW VIDEOS on the way!!!
I was just playing "Piano Man" from a previous lesson. Now I want to learn this one too. Glad to have you back. I want to learn them all! lol You have a way of keeping things interesting.
The beginning reminds me of stacking hay barrels on the farm
Super great lesson Marty thanks!
One of their under appreciated songs. So happy to see you did a lesson for this Marty. Been playing guitar on and off for over 10 years but finally getting back in to it. Thanks for being an awesome teacher! Even if you never see my comment I will always be thankful I had such an awesome online guitar teacher to help me. Hope all is well for you 😁

Thanks Marty your a good teacher learned alot of songs off your video's
More RHCP please! how about road trippin??
great lesson Marty. thanks so much. Had to watch it once, practice and come back to it...but lots to learn and grab onto.
dude that was awesome thank you...Happy Holidays!
Thank man it was easy n nicely demonstrated. Your a legend🤙🤙
thank you Marty love your channel been on here for years!
Was going to look up a tab for this. google searched lessons on it and what pops up... this vid of course XD half of an hour of my life well spent =P One of my favorite songs by the peppers. and Marty is right about the chorus effect you only need the slightest touch to make it sound just like the original recording.... I'm playing it with a Boss CH-1 with all 4 knobs at 12 o'clock and it sounds extremely close the original recording (Neck pickup selected on my strat also).
Here we go. Needed a great lesson for this classic jam
Glad to help Matty! Thanks for supporting "MartyMusic"
Flea’s bass line has such a strong impact on the character of the song that you feel something’s missing when you just have the guitar
it seems im not ready for RHCP yet
same here
Don't worry you'll get there
Are you ready now?
I'm trying man, Show (hey oh) is fucking hard
makayla nicole that’s (in my opinion) their hardest song
awesome lesson! I've learned tons from you over the years, thanks for all the great videos.
a lesson on simple quick twiddly blues licks would help me alot.
Indeed, more NEW videos like that coming right here to "MartyMusic" Ryan. Thanks again!
Bro... great lesson. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
Marty droppin bombs as usual, thanks bud.
As someone in the early learning stage of learning guitar I feel like you should do a zoom in on your strumming hand as well and maybe split the screen with two views?? Because I catch myself pausing the video to watch finger placement and then having to go back and see which strings are being strung at what time, I feel like that would improve the learning ability for all of us beginners?? Just a suggestion!! Thank you I have already learned so much keep this channel going it does wonders!! Thank you!
Hey Marty! As always, Great Stuff! Was wondering if you could give a brief run down of effects AND settings on your song tutorials. Would be a great help on teaching tone. Thanks!
Thanks
Heaps of guys doing guitar lessons on line. But pretty sure you're best out there Marty. Your lessons are really really good.
sweet asked ya few weeks ago to make a video on this song and here it is.. stoked !
ahh very cool! I appreciate you supporting me here with "MartyMusic" my friend! So man more BRAND NEW VIDEOS on the way!!!
Thanks Marty. Great tune, great video. Keep it up!
Thanks Mike!
I hear “The Joker” and the Melody from Pearl Jams “Black”. I also noticed i can play the B from the A lick in the G minor chord box for a nice little embellishment.
Really i love your vid's !! Greetz from Belgium
Great video Marty. If you can, I think a lesson for "The longest wave" by RHCP would be awesome
I love the song
Thanks so much! Been requesting this one, great to see you listen to your fans!
Would like to learn M+M's by Blink-182
Marty, you're the man! Seems like every song I want too learn you have a video for when I search. I always choose your videos first now. you break it down very well and make it easy. Great job and thank you.

Master Marty definitly back! Great great, love it. Hey, did you know your vids cannot be seen from Germany, for some reasons, had to use a vpn... Cheers!
Thanks a lot, it was very helpful in the learning of the song
hey Marty, thank you for this wonderful lesson. it's brilliant. I really like your approach in this particular video, very helpful and you show us how it works really naturally. nice one. I would make a suggestion for another lesson but I can't think of any, this will keep me busy for a while. thanks again.
