Garry Moore Host with Bill Cullen,Henry Morgan, Betsy Palmer and Bess Myerson
Hahaha Paul Selecky is my grandpa! 😂 I love this.
Both of ours! :)
That's fantastic. What a great memory for you and your family.
👎
Is he still living?
Thanks for speaking up, he's quite a character!
@@SoExcited530 How awesome!
The opening with Marion Lorne is perfect. What a jewel...Marion could do befuddlement better than anyone. Priceless.
Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden do a pretty good job !!!
@@paulk9985 Only an ignorant jerk like you could turn this political...totally pathetic.
@@paulk9985 what's the purpose of bringing up a totally irrelevant subject as politics on this forum? It wasn't funny, it wasn't clever and it just makes YOU look like the a-hole.

@@marvenlunn6086 I know... so sad.
My grandmother was her twin. And she was just as sweet as Aunt Clara. :)
identical?
in some ways.@@stumack9755
Aww lucky you! I wish everyone could have an aunt like Aunt Clara ❤
“She had a younger brother, Lorne Taylor MacDougal”. So maybe the grandmother was like Ms. Lorne. Not an actual twin.
Thank you for your comment but I was joking when I said my grandmother was her twin. That is so sweet of you. My grandmother looked like her and had her sweet and innocent personality.@@danielhull3122
Marion Lorne was an absolutely adorable comedic character 😂❤️
I've never seen her that young
Yes, and she used her love of glass door knobs on the Bewitched show.
Marion Lorne was perfect as Aunt Clara on Bewitched. RIP.
I knew I'd seen that woman somewhere.
You are certainly correct! RIP to a brilliant woman!!
She was in the movie "Strangers on a Train" as Robert Walker's character's mother & she was befuddled & dense in that role as well. The movie also starred Farley Granger & Alfred Hitchcock's daughter, Pat, who recently passed away. This was another of Hitchcock's suspenseful movies. One of my favorites.
@@danhutson3460 Thanks. :)
Hey! I found the Classic Radio Version on YT.
ruclips.net/video/-cj2ESFltNA/видео.html
I recognize the voice but not the face. But I didn't make any connection till I read this.
Marion Lorne is uniquely funny, charming and heartwarming.
So true!!!!
Gary Moore was the hardest-working MC in the history of television. He participated in dangerous stunts and was always on. He never had a down moment. His energy kept the show alive and always entertaining. RIP.
Marion Lorne was perfect playing the killer's mother in the Hitchcock masterpiece, Strangers On A Train.
And smoked on set.
Marion Lorne is a true beauty of spirit. A talented lovely lady
Paul Anthony Selecky became a medical doctor and was married for 60 years (many children and grandkids) . He passed in 2022 in Huntington Beach, CA. 💖
Marion Lorne is an American icon. RIP dear lady.
Now it's Betty White.
she is not dead
One of the best episodes of any TV show ever is the one where she starts babysitting the neighborhood children on 'Bewitched'. Any episode with Aunt Clara is terrific, but that one is especially funny and endearing.
You can pick it up right now in season 1 on Amazon Prime
juancarlos montes That’s good to know, but I was unable to wait. Years ago I wanted to watch that show and bought the first four seasons on Amazon.
I'm sure your purchase proved worthwhile and has brought you many hours ago enjoyment!
juancarlos montes Absolutely! I think those seasons are some of the best in sitcom history.
Absolutely 💯 % agree ❗ Any episode with Aunt Clara or animals OR Aunt Clara AND animals is a great episode❗
And Clara will always be remembered. So happy to see this episode
Marion Lorne was just adorable
I absolutely LOVED her on Bewitched! Aunt Clara was my favorite character. And yes, I collect old doorknobs too!
Did you know they were her door knobs and not just props?
That sounds like wonderful objects to collect! They can be so interesting and beautiful.
❤️☺️
@@jaydee5156 Yes she collected them in real life. I don't know if she polished them when she was upset as Aunt Clara did though!
@@su-rv2uq Yes, I knew she collected them. I thought it was fascinating that they were included as part of character. Interesting question about polishing though.
She is the only actress that could have played Aunt Clara on Bewitched show
The innocent fun of yesterday ~ oh how I miss it. These people would be dumbfounded at our moral decline.
As a kid watching ‘bewitched ‘ I wanted an aunt Clara. She was the best. How could you not love her. So sad she passed during the run of the show. Funny skit with the guys dressed as women.
I only watched 👀 this because Marion Lorne was featured. I know she'd been in other shows or movies 🎬, but she will always be Aunt Clara to me. Love ❤ her ‼️
Bobby Troup, who wrote the Daddy song, is the actor who played Dr. Joe Early on Emergency and was married to Julie London.
She was an absolute gem perfect delivery and could knock anybody off their game
The first group, the male singers that did the song "Daddy" - that was written by Bobby Troup, who also wrote, among other numbers, "The Girl Can't Help It," "Makin' Whoopee," "Tenderly," "The Meaning of the Blues," and "Route 66!" One of the best "I've Got a Secret" shows ever!
Bobby Troup also played an ER doctor alongside his wife Julie in the '70s drama "Emergency!".
Nice to know info. Thanks! :}
Talented has he may have been, let us give credit to where it is due. "Tenderly" was written by Jack Lawrence. And, in no way does Troup come even close to the great Walter Donaldson (February 15, 1893 - July 15, 1947), "Makin" Whoopee", an American prolific popular songwriter and publishing company founder, composing many hit songs of the 1910s to 1940s, that have become standards and form part of the Great American Songbook. (See Wikipedia entry.)
@@tr1954 I looked up "Tenderly" on the ASCAP website and it is indeed attributed to Jack Lawrence. Do you know, by any chance, how/why Bobby Troup is credited therewith? Walter Donaldson indeed has quite a history as a songwriter - I will be looking at his works as well.
Bobby Troup didn't write "Makin' Whoopee".
Goodness, Marion Lorne is adorable! I loved her on the Bewitched series! 💗🤣
Soooo.... what was Aunt Clara's other secret? (Nothing to do with her secret in I've Got a Secret.) What I found out is that Marion Lorne collected doorknobs in real life as did her character as Aunt Clara. The more you know... LOL!!!
@@christinewild5935 and I watched that documentary about 3-4 days ago 😂 she seemed well loved.
I've always loved Marion Lorne. It wasn't a much of a stretch for her to play 'Aunt Clara' on BEWITCHED. Aunt Clara's doorknob collection actually came from Marion's personal collection.... of doorknobs! She was also a regular cast member of the Wally Cox series MR. PEEPERS, which aired live in the early '50's. She played Mrs. Gurney.
Bess and Betsy are BEAUTIFUL!
I’ve always loved Betsy Palmer’s beauty and class. Her voice absolutely was lilting .
Loved her since I was a kid and always would have been honored to meet her.
Bess Myerson wasn’t a slouch either . Two of the most elegant women on a panel .
@@flyboy13131 That was when women had class & elegance. I was shocked when Gary Moore walked on stage with a cigarette between his fingers. Back in those days, they did smoke real cigarettes on live shows.
And Henry appears to have been weaned on a persimmon.
Bess was a Miss America, then went into NY politics.
Boy you couldn't beat Bess and Betsy for poise, grace, charm and looks (plus intelligence).
Bess was a Miss America.
That mask and wig show was pure magic - fresh as ever even now!
I think everyone who remembers loves the dotty, dizzy, ditzy Marion Lorne!!! She’s everyone’s favorite aunt!
"Alright, John, Thank You"
"You're welcome, Bennett." !
Great reference to 'What's My Line'!
It's sad, Marion died, 10 days before winning an Emmy, for best supporting actress, for her performance in "Bewitched"!
Sadly, Alice Pearce, the original Mrs. Kravitz, also passed away before winning her best supporting actress award for "Bewitched".
Yes Elizabeth Montgomery picked up the Emmy on Marion's behalf...apparently she gave a moving speech. Would love if anyone has the footage of Elizabeth's speech?
Of course, at 6:28 Gary Moore is sure to emphasize that their guest has been on the football team for 2 years, so clearly he's no fairy or anything. Henry Morgan appeared to be acting like a bit of a prick for this portion of the show as well.
ur a fairy.
Love love Marian Lorne! Love her on Bewitched!!
Enjoy watching this show. So long, long ago when a host came out with a cigarette and smoke on TV,
I know, right ✅ ⁉️
She was such an hilarious personality!
I've been watching all the I've got a secret videos on YT and what blows my mind is how modern this show would be even for 2021, their jokes are so fresh, I'd never say the 50s were so cool.
Aunt Clara is so cute and she was my favorite character on the show. She was in the show Bewitched. 😊 She was a great collector of door knobs and she had over 3000 of them. She collected antique items and unique pieces of door knobs from some very famous places around the world. 😊
Dr Paul Selecky is a Dr at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA>
I just saw a picture of him on web dr md and he's 81 now. Wow, time does fly!
Ms. Lorne was precious.
I saw an excerpt of Marion Lorne in a Rosalind Russell movie from the early 1950s where she portrays a befuddled older lady and it was classic! She is even called Aunt Clara in the film. This portrayal was many years before the same character on Bewitched...
Do you know the name of the movie?
@@billchambersmarquez1964 The Girl Rush. I looked it up on Wiki 🥳
She is precious.
Marion Lorne was always one of my favorites! So great to see her again.
Alfred Hitchcock LOVED Marion Lorne as the psychopath's mother in the movie Strangers on a Train. Hitch said that she was crazier than her son Bruno the killer.
Excellent movie and she was wonderful in it!
I was 2 weeks old when this aired.
Bobby Troop - also played a Doctor in Emergency, a 1970’s show.
And a motor pool SGT. who keeps saying "Goddamn Army!" in the movie M*A*S*H.
Dr. Early and his wife Julie London played Nurse Trixie.
She was a fantastic actress.
She was adorable.
Oh i LOVE MARION LORNE!! SHE is so funny!!
I wish I had the chance to meet Ms. Lorne. She was the best.. ❤😊
I adore Marion! Wouldn’t she have been a hoot to have as a neighbor?
She was perfect at being confused. All while being lovable and adorable.
Aunt Clara! (Marion Lorne)
Such a sweet lady, always adored her character on Bewitched.
The show is so wholesome my health improved while I watched.
I’ll never understand why Henry Morgan was on this show. He was so charmless and miserable.
They paid him a boat load of money or he couldn't get any other job bc he was an a**hole!
A real drip.
Well, i have no idea who he even is, so he must’ve been a ‘one hit wonder’ or something…so he probably was broke and needed the money.
@@jasminebaum9343 I agree 👍. Who was this guy ❓ I suppose I could Google him, but I'm not THAT curious.
That was the point. He was a foil to the other cast members. He was a writer and satirist.
Marion was perfect in the intro- Loved her!
Marion was a delight, and a big memory from my childhood. (DOB 1957)
She was so sweet! Wanted her as my Aunt 😀
I remember her on 60s shows. Wonderful.
Love her so much..marion lorne
So funny that the announcer is putting on the make up and the star studded panel moving furniture!
I know, right⁉️. He did a good job with the makeup 💄.
Those chorus girls and guys are all gorgeous
I noticed Henry Morgan looked down and did not applaud after the Daddy number.
Remarkable man who knows changing his clothes doesn’t change his sex, something this generation could learn.
This guy was very good-looking once the glasses came off
I thought he 2as good looking with them on too!
Paul was HOT :)
Yes i liked the clean cut look of this era,. He should have stripped some more to put on the dress.
Right ✅ ⁉️
🔴 Marion Lorne, the Adorable Aunt Clara on the early years of Bewitched
I have that song "Daddy" in my music collection! There are several versions. That guy got some serious royalties!
what version is your favorite?
I love Aunt Clara!! I'm glad to have seen her on What's My Line? hehehe She doesn't know yet that she will play
Aunt Clara on Bewitched
Ah....I was wondering if this was before Bewitched. Thank you.
Marion Lorne endeared herself to the hearts of many audiences with her priceless acting skills. I really enjoyed watching her performance Aunt Clara in Bewitched. But I really need to see if I can find any other shows or movies that she performed in.
She is a treasure.
Those guys were great and a li'l too into it,if you ask me ! Bahaha!
Love Marion Lorne. Has anyone ever Garry Moore without a cigarette?
Wonderful show -- great to see it again.
She portrayed the one character from Samantha's family that Darren liked...sweet Aunt Clara.
I'm a 72 year old Grandma from Indianapolis, Indiana. 35 years ago, I portrayed Santa at The Deaf School here. I learned to use sign language to say, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and I'll try! Because it's VERY IMPORTANT not to promise a child something without their parent's permission!! It was hilarious to hear a couple of children who were somewhat verbal discussing amongst themselves whether I was a lady!!😂😂🎅🏻💝💝💝🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I played the Mask and Wig with Kenn Kweder. Cool hall on the U of P campus.
I keep getting old TV shows from 1959 recommended. I sorta missed them.
Me Too ! People worked hard & needed to have some something fun to watch for 1/2 hr. . Before early bed & Early work or commute. Those kind of shyows still appeal to me! Better than Useless endless cellphones & gameiing Just My Opinion
What a delight to see Aunt Clara again. Marion Lorne was a jewel.
I was thrilled that there was someone else in the world who collected doorknobs‼️
Loved Aunt Clara! 😘❤️
I love her.
Betsy is precious to quickly cover that they couldn’t
possibly both be Santa Claus, every child knows that! Just precious!!!
She was so beautiful 😻
I can't believe the two Santa Clauses didn't walk away with cartons of cigarettes as parting gifts.
They probably got a year's worth of aspirin, as Winston wasn't the sponsor for this particular edition of the show.
Blonde looked like Howard Stern lol. Opening with Marion was the best.
Dear sweet Aunt Clara.
he's ahead of his time......
back when it was fun and games and entertainment, Not whatever we have now
Believe me that was not the #1 panel show. It was "What's my line"
And "To tell the Truth" was another.
This was such a hoot! ❤
Warning to a potential watchers of this 28 minute video: we do not find out the secret!
I thought the 'secret' was that the panel would be writing ✍ the checks ✔ ❓
Yes, but we never get to see the panel actually finding that out.
THERE SHE IS AUNT CLARA HERSELF FROM THE TV SHOW BEWITCHED THE LATE GREAT ACTRESS MARION LORNE.
She was delightful
That Henry Morgan certainly doesn't seem like a pleasant man. Aunt Clara though, what a SWEETHEART!!!!
Enjoyed watching this. A different Time 1959 the year I was born
Life was fun back then!!
Aunt Clara all the way.....
I have feeling Henry Morgan would have been canned pretty quickly nowadays. What a downer he is never smilies and as someone pointed out, wouldn’t even clap.
I think you are right. Plus he got mad at Betsy for calling him out as a drunk. She said a joke but then they had to sit opposite after that. He was pissed. His mother was on the show once. She was so sweet. Shame he took after his father.
How could they ever guess such a secret even if they stay there through Thanksgiving??? Outrageous.
The following week's episode revealed the panel guessed it within 15 minutes.

She intended to say that. It was was actually her being funny 😂
@@jamiecannon1706 I agree.
Henry Morgan had some kind of problem in this show. When they introduced him, he rudely kept his head down. After the chorus girl show, everybody clapped except him.
He always seemed grumpy in a lot of these clips
@@dianafrost936 When he was a guest panelist on What’s My Line, he was horrid. He snapped at Bennett Cerf and was extremely rude. He appears to have been a pompous egomaniac.
Henry liked the hootch and was generally a bit surly.
