I am becoming more convinced that the impotency of the contemporary Church can be traced to unbiblical leadership. A plurality of elders, not our current corporate structure, is the NT model. Alex Strauch was way ahead of this issue with the publication of "Biblical Eldership."
Love it. Oversight is so important. I think churches really need to lean into democratically binding processes within the structure. And I'm not talking about mob rule. For some reason we've instead gravitated to corporate hiarchical organization structures (perhaps because we've also gravitated towards capitalistic organizational structure). There's a way to do kingdom hiarchy with democratic oversight.
This is a really important conversation, but every problem with church gov't (aka polity) is a problem with people. Ultimately, every solution will be unsatisfying because we are fallen. We are doomed to reach for the least bad solution, but what we need above all else in Church polity are leaders who are submitted to Christ. Also, I believe God didn't give us a fully developed answer because we are meant to draw near to Him amidst the push and pull of human weakness, especially that of human leadership. Leadership will also look different in different cultures. I appreciate Pastor Harvey's approach and hope Remnant can provide a full length interview at some point.
accountability is one of my biggest problems with the pre-trib rapture teaching. those who preach it cannot be held accountable by their churches if they are wrong. TOO LATE
The singular voice who leads is the voice of the Holy Spirit. Period. Whether one man or a plurality. The reality is that Holy Spirit has more control of the church under a plurality then He does limited to one man.
Praise God and honor Him each Sabbath in worship. Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Exodus 20:8 “Remember the (7th day, Saturday) Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. Honor the Creator of the Sabbath on Saturday. Not on Sunday, which is the first day of the week. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
Certainly you realize that "sabbath" refers not to a particular day but rather the idea of rest (Hebrews 4). The Gospel of Jesus Christ is our ultimate sabbath.

The deacon board in most churches lead by “the great man” theory are actually elders.
