    Just wonderful. Tim Mackie (and Mike Heiser) has been instrumental in my understanding of the Bible. My openness to the supernatural view,btw, came from a layperson study of quantum physics and biology. Multiple dimensions, the fact that matter is mostly empty (the late physicist, Richard Feynman speaks eloquently on this) and the double slit experiments,etc. Cracked my mind open. We live in a mysterious and unimaginable universe. Accepting the biblical, supernatural mindset is not a huge leap. It actually makes sense.
    Love this channel, keep bringing this kind of content! Get both Mike Heiser and Tim Mackie on together sometime, would be epic!

    Anti-prooftext- using metanarrative context
    No historical dogma thats doesnt hold up.
    Sola scriptura, for real this time.

    Tim is exactly dead on with his points. One that stands out to me is in America we are so binary in our thinking. It is either On or Off. Left or Right, Up or Down, Yes or No. In many instances, these apply. But, let's not make that our default because then we will tend to lose the "both and" sides of the topic. Just thinking.... Thanks for putting this material on RUclips! Cheers to the both of you!

      been described to me as the difference between western thinking and eastern thinking. The Bible contains REAL history, REAL people and events that actually happened; REAL geology, REAL science. Yet at the same time, it has a spiritual component...types and shadows, parables, "secrets" that the Holy Spirit is all too willing to reveal to the true seeker with a heart after God's own.

  • @75tort

    Great explanation of Genesis 3 and Genesis 6. Most of our churches have a lot pf problem accepting whats in the Scriptures about Genesis 6.

    • @kristenspencer9751
      @kristenspencer9751 3 месяца назад

      I think instead of "accepting" you might use the word "interpretation". Just like people differ on when the trib occurs...they differ on Gen 6. Likewise, some people believe that God created Satan as an adversary, thus giving the first humans a real choice. Others do not believe that, and think that Satan fell...but they never explain who tempted Satan...where sin came from etc. I'm not certain pastors have to teach this from the pulpit. They're so focused on the new believer and those who don't read their Bible regularly and all the earthly struggles people have and try to provide comfort and hope and the message of salvation. If maturing believers are so led to dig a little deeper...they should! Then someone like yourself can hold a Bible Study to share with others what you are learning.

    39:15 maybe this is just common knowledge, but I just had a thought. We know that Moses raised a bronze snake in the wilderness for the people to look at to live when being attacked by poisonous snakes. We know that Jesus referred to this as a sign of him being crucified. And we know that Jesus "became sin".
    Tim has pointed out sin has become an animal here at this timestamp. And elsewhere here he talks about bronze being a motif for sin or strength or something to overcome (can't remember what he said. It was in regards to Goliaths armor). But it's pretty amazing what has happened with the sign. Moses raised a bronze snake (sin) to look at and not die. And Jesus was raised having "become sin".
    The words being used נְחֹ֔שֶׁת bronze נְחַ֣שׁ serpent, as Tim pointed out, have the same letters. Like just to make double sure you get it in a poetic way. The bronze serpent is sin. And Jesus had to become that for us. Wow. Just so powerful. I read elsewhere while looking up the herbrew. "God's punishment and mercy are inseparable. When you see judgment in His Word, or feel it in your own life, look deeper. Once flipped over, we see that God’s infinite mercy is on the other side of that coin." (google the quote to see the website).
    This is just so amazing. God is so so awesome.

      Well said. You are absolutely on the right track with the comparison. In fact Tim's explanation adds even more context to the bronze serpent story now that you add the elohim side of the equation. It has always been a storyline that has supernatural elements but the reality of the Spirit realm has been intentionally removed and confused by those that have abused their position of power in the medieval church. You just can't make any sense of the whole bible without the spiritual side added back into it's proper context. When we do accept it as the reality we then can understand what Jesus Christ was really facing and conquering. It makes his victory on the cross even more impressive and amazing and humble us even more.

      I accept the spiritual realm as I'm an Anthropologist and see it.
      I'm just a bit cautious of reading a narrative into the text. .a bit like Origens and Clement of Alexandria allegorizations to see Grek philosophy in the text. Tim appears to have a social agenda behind his narrative, that I think his imagination reads into the text. I just think caution is needed.

    • @adamslater1634
      @adamslater1634 3 года назад +4

      @@Liminalplace1 The absolutely best way to get up to speed with the context of the biblical writers world view is to read the Dead Sea scrolls. If you actually read 1 Enoch, Jasher, Jubilees, The testements of the patriarchs and so on, it will quickly fill in many MANY of the blank spots. Remember two things though, #1 it is not about should they be included in the bible and #2 this is the library that was zealously protected and copied by the Zadokite priests that were overthrown by the corrupt Pharisees Jesus rebuked constantly. It is truly by the hand of God this library was preserved so that we could have a chance to see what the second temple faithful were reading and believing. I have studied them and can say they are a treasure from heaven that has exposed so much of the corruption that happened by the Roman Catholic church and restored so much foundational biblical truth. I promise you it is a journey well worth taking.

      The fact that YHWH created many ben elohim (sons of God) does not in anyway diminish the Lordship of Jesus Christ of Nazareth (Yahshua Ha Machiach). Some of them still serve Him and others rebeled and followed the adversary.

    It is a real study, of what's going on, yet compared to stars, math, and the whole birth, family and financial ways. It get into government structures and all of it. Philosophy all. You have to really read logos/pictures, the works. Lot of respect for those who put it all together. It's not for the light weight, but then literally is. Tons to this stuff. Lining it up to the time your in, is a real work of brilliance ! Word knowledge, is a lot. So, yea, this guy's got to be pretty brilliant, just to study this stuff. The analogies of courts, shedding light = knowledge, learning as we always ask questions. Our purpose is always looking for what God has for us, in every way. Corpse-orations serp/usury usurp, sur...lots tangible/non-tanginle, all through law. Temperal/toroidal on and on.

    I learn so much from Tim. Still looking for a video explaining "the second death". It's an important topic because it is the eternal state for many people. I hate talking about the wrath of the Lamb, but Jesus was faithful to warn people about eternal wrath.😐.

    • @simple8mind8
      @simple8mind8 3 года назад +1

      I always understood the second death. As taking place after judgement. The beast, and false prophet. Are thrown into the lake of fire. Along with anyone who has "bound" themselves to them. Especially by oath.
      Or those who are not written in the book of the lamb. This is the second death. That's The way I always understood the second death.. It takes place after judgement.
      And alternatively the martyrs who were killed/beheaded for their faith, and testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ. These will have no part in the second death.
      Why? Because they have already been judged. And found worthy. For they did not love their own lives. Even in the face of death.
      These are also the first resurrected. The last are first..
      And the rest of the dead did not come to life until... And I'll leave the rest to your studies.
      But another thing you should consider. Is these martyrs, or saints. Are termed "innumerable". They are also "beheaded". The sole reason given for being beheaded..
      Is that they keep their faith, and testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Son of The Living God. My question to you is. Who is doing the slaughtering of God people. And why?
      I'll give you some hints. And a bread crumb trail to follow. This very day. There happens to be a large group of religious fanatics. That fit the bill. They follow a religion called islam.
      They have already over the past 1400 years.. Beheaded an innumerable amount of Gods elect. Our Lord warned us about them. That they would come.
      And that in the latter days. They would stop our worshipping. Cast us from our worship places. And think that by killing us. They offer God a favor/service. Our Lord tells us not to fear them. Because he has forewarned us about them.
      Many many times throughout the entire scriptures we are warned of them. Their kingdom/caliphate will be revived soon.
      It will be revived in it's former image. The image of Jihad. For they serve a God of armies/jihad. Anyone who will not submit to the khalifah.
      Anyone who will not take the mark of allah. Aka the shahada. Worn on the forehead, or right arm. Anyone who will not submit.
      Will be put to the sword. The whole world will marvel at this beast/caliphate. It will encompass nearly a third of the earth. This is a confederacy of Muslim nations. With a starting population of nearly 2 billion.
      This number will grow rapidly. As they advance covering the land like a cloud. Like an army of locusts. Coming to devour mankind.
      This will be the largest army ever constructed. A force the likes of which.. The world has never seen before. Indeed men's hearts will fail them. Just thinking of what is about to come upon them.
      The nation's of the earth will marvel at it's revival. And say "who can make war with this beast/caliphate. With a population of nearly 2 billion.. A 200 million man army on horseback. Is nothing to construct.
      Nation's will ask this man/mahdi. Will you keep throwing your net? Emptying nation's without Mercy? Gathering all peoples unto yourself?
      Well I'm not sure how I got going down this road. It seemed to be put on my heart. To share with you.
      May our Lord bless, and keep you. May his face shine upon you. And give you peace. Amen.
      Also if you would like to dig deeper. That was just the tip of the iceberg. My email is simple8mind8@gmail.com feel free to email me anytime!

    I was raised R. C. and tried so many denominations in my life including Charismatic Episcopacy and Word of Faith. Lots of good and bad , but churches are people and if we ever found a perfect one we would probably ruin it. That is is a semi quote from my very first born again pastor in the 1980’s Father Chuck Irish. So I guess I decide to try and find out.
    My husband always told me, honey, Christian churches are all people and all basically the same. So wise and practical. 😊
