Every minute of this interview is delightful. Intellectual, nuanced, and original, both Jordan Peterson and Steven Edginton were absolutely phenomenal. Along the way, JP even made me question my own character and mindset. It's a political interview but it actually addresses so much more. Notably, JP uses psychology to address political issues with an enthusiastic desire to candidly dive into complex questions. Teaching us about history, society, the philosophy behind political movements, the way evil politicians manipulate well-meaning people, and linking it to biblical stories & values, his viewers are given the opportunity to break through the poison machine in favour of meaningful reflection on the state of the world.

It was quite poetic how the spoken words matched the calm visual of an older man with a grey beard giving simplistic truth to a younger man in a natural peaceful setting. The truth was all around them yet because humans have the capacity to communicate though vibrations the complexity of language was just broken down by Jordan into simplicity and truth and then back again into the backdrop and the visual of the two men and what that represented and round and round it went.

Wow - I think the Dostoevsky quote of "Every man is not only responsible for what he does but what everyone else does" is pure genius for those who can grasp the concept. It forces us to consider every consequence of every decision and action large or small. For example: Tribalism and wars only ever happen if we (each of us) allow differences to be amplified to the point of hatred and mistrust then allow psychopathic leaders into power that leverage that division into conflict. Clearly we are responsible and our elected "politicians" take that to the next level.

My Nephew who is studying to become a Doctor was invited watch a recent football match against Chelsea, during half time he said to his friend that Chelsea were playing like a bunch of rent boys. His remark was overheard by a Chelsea Marshal who beckons to another near by Marshal and after a brief discussion they approached my nephew and escorted him from the ground, he explained that he was speaking to his friend only, he did not shout the words out, nor were his words meant to be heard by anyone other than his friend.
The Marshals reported my nephew to the police and a few days later he was summoned to his local police station to answer for his ‘crime’ He was told to expect a banning order and receive a number of hours of work in the community. I do not believe it is an offense for two friends to describe their opponents as playing like a bunch of rent boys but because a third party over heard the words and may have taken offense, it now is a crime.
The chanting which was prevalent during the match from both groups of supporters was, to say the least, offensive but not threatening but no action was taken. Both Marshals claimed to have heard the words although it would have been near impossible for the second Marshal to have heard the comment. Is this really how degraded our freedom of speech has become?

Also his stuff about the British Empire and slavery is skewed to completely wrong. The abolitionist movement was massively popular among common people, it was the British ruling class who supported slavery and resisted any move towards emancipation because so many of them owned interests in America and the Carribean (hello David Cameron). They relented to banning the slave trade after they lost America because it relieved some of the pressure they faced at home and they believed it would strategically harm America (it didn't really). When they eventually banned it completely they made exceptions for the British East India company.
Sure it is true that there were heroic English people who dedicated their lives to end the slave trade in the Americas etc. but it was the British Empire that set it up and benefitted hugely from it so the nation-state is not heroic given that it caused the problem in the first place and became immensely wealthy as a result.
