My daughter is 14 years old and knows who the GOAT is. She had to do a critical thinking exercise in 8th grade (last year) about who the GOAT is. I asked her about how she figured out who the GOAT is and her exact words were “Michael Jordan accomplished more in less time, that’s how I reached my conclusion that he is the greatest.”

What you see in the highlights was just MJ night after night after night.
No matter how many times you saw him, he could still make you jump out of your seat and say "Damn!"
He dominated like no other player in any sport and he did it against the greatest players in the world.
He was so far above everyone else that they actually feared him. It was a thing of beauty.

@@TheRealMindCrime You ask why is matter they come back from 1-3, it's because the case is empty so they have to fill it with anything they found.
      1
How many games the warriors lose during this playoff?
9 the same amount that during the season 9.
      They were not that untouchable.
      2
How many times a team came back from 1-3 in NBA History ?
13, LeBron was the 1st time in the finals but the 13th in the playoff History.
      3
( Juste for fun but still important )
Who and when was the 12th times ?
In 2016, western finals conference, the Warriors came back from 1-3 vs OKC.
      4
Why nobody talk about that ?
      😮‍💨
      Plus,
If I am not wrong LeBron said that one make me blablabla in 2018
      Before
      Going On Another Team again
To me it was to distract from his new leaving Cleveland, the decision didn't work, but something like that was a better strategy.
I don't think he believe it himself, but the fans were estatic, then this debate, a lot of money and buzz thanks to this false debate
How 2016 can make you the goat when you lose twice in a row After that vs the same team, cemented them as the 3rd dynasty since you are in the League when yourself with two superteams didn't succeed to create one, and there is a guy who have a double threepeat in 8 years ( only 5 times a team won 3 or more in a row in NBA history) with the same team but two differents rosters ( minus pippen and Phil) and you choose your number because of him and you have his brand on your jersey?
If in 2016 you feel like the goat
By 2018 you know you are not

I get that, but… no MJ is all that needs to be said. It probably wouldn’t have happened with how Jerry Krause and him had some issues keeping the second 3peat team together but they could’ve gone 8 straight if he didn’t wanna play baseball.
Hate doing Hakeem cause he was at least top 5 big men like that but there’s definitely an asterisk on his titles.
I know he was there for the second half of the second title run for Hakeem but MJ was so thin and out of basketball shape.
Edit: I agree that it was better than lebrons run. The only thing close is down 3-1 vs the warriors. But honestly that wasn’t all bron, if he didn’t have kyrie he wouldn’t have won. And they only had kyrie cause he couldn’t do it himself like the ogs did it.

@@eyalsabag1772 Another knock against LeBron is being a pin in someone else's cap.
One of the greatest playoff runs of all time was capped by "The King" being toppled off his constructed mountain. There were LeBron lifers and a few fans down in Miami rooting for them in that series and that's it. Everybody else wanted to see LeBron eat it and he did by scoring 8 points in the Finals against a 5 foot 9 inch puerto rican.
He can send a million Klutch automatons out to try to erase the past but we all remember big Bron being the big choke master himself. I asked LeBron James for change for a dollar and he said "I can't carry four quarters." He was literally a joke.

As someone who grew up in the 90s, watching MJ was magical. Every game on TV was a must watch. I live in Vancouver and had the privilege to watch him play the Grizzlies the year where the Bulls won 72 games. That was the only live MJ game I have attended. He scored 19 points in the last 6 minutes of the game to come back to beat Vancouver. There are many videos about that on youtube. I still have goosebumps talking about that game. In my office, I have a picture that I took at the game of MJ shooting a free throw. That was before the time of digital cameras. As a high school kid at the time, buying film and developing the pics after was not cheap. I was so happy when the pics came out great. From time to time, I have young basketball fans coming to my office with their parents and they were blown away by the picture. When I talked about MJ in that game. Their eyes were wide opened and their expression were priceless. It is like they were listening to a fairy tale. I agreed with you brother, we old farts were spoiled.

I love watching these. SLG definitely doesn't know about the Shaq/Kobe era I would bet. He needs to go though a good doc on that too. There are Sooooo many narratives regarding Jordan he has no idea about. Off the top of my head, the 1997 finals, he had a buzzer beater game winner, the flu game, and the final pass to Kerr for the series winner. Also so many videos. I think its a Johnny Arnett video where he shows that Jordan was the best/should have won the MVP from like 1987-1993 straight - his accolades are absolutely underrated (something we can't say about Bron) because they got sick of giving it the MJ - also see the 1997 season!

The thing also about Jordan is that it was must watch tv when he played. One thing I did see him in Barcelona, but was to young to know much. As I started watching more of the NBA. I remember before the 1st game I saw Jordan play. It was in 1993 playoffs vs New York when the Bulls were down 2-1, and I remember thinking, let me see how good MJ is. Jordan had 54 points that game.

I'm proud of you too. And it's not because you changed your mind. It's because you were truly open-minded and allowed yourself to take in the facts. If you had done that and still made a case that made sense for Lebron being the GOAT...I would be puzzled and might not agree but I'd still be proud of your approach and have deep respect. That's so different from the closed-minded, "no amount of real facts will change my mind" (who allows themselves to think that way about any subject?) people that aren't willing to relax and truly examine the other side of a debate.
Huge respect. And now a new subscriber. Can't wait to check out your other videos and what comes next. If for no other reason....you're just a reasoned person and I like that approach. Great reaction and thanks so much!

Here is the comparison I think most relevant:
Take a stat that measures how good a game (or season) a player had (pts per game, for example).
(Take playoff games only? This ensure they were playing against serious teams.)
Organize each players games (or seasons) from best to worst according to this stat.
Plot the games (or seasons) from best to worst.
Whose line lies above the other? While Lebron's line will be longer since he has played so much longer, what we care about it who had the best games (or seasons). Lebron's longevity means he got more chances to have better games (or seasons), but the longevity as such doesn't make any of his game (or seasons) any better.

42:05 Agree with what you are saying here. I think the biggest problem standing in the way of younger people understanding how great Jordan was is the fact that never saw full games, the only see highlight reels. Highlight reels are fun but they lack context. If I see Jordan dunk 100 times, I get bored no matter how spectacular they are. But watching how he played all out every game, watching how he dominated the end of games (what Magic Johnson would call "winning time"), and watching how he improved his game every single year to overcome weaknesses that might have cost him during the previous year. People forget he was criticized by the local press here in Chicago for "resting on defense" when he got tired. The next year he won defensive player of the year. People forget he went from having a good midrange game to having one of the best of all time. When the Pistons, Knicks, and Pacers used to beat up on him physically, he got in the weight room and built up the strength and conditioning to win. It is hard to look back on all that and understanding without seeing it, just as it is impossible for me to understand Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robinson, or Bill Russell.
