    NOTE TO ALL THE VIEWERS. Remember, the nasty comments may be from driveway companies who want to charge you a fortune TO REPAIR YOUR DRIVEWAY. The driveway companies don't want you to fix your driveway. I've heard that driveways start at about $5000 and up to do a small driveway! A few years ago, I made a bunch of calls about driveways, AND NONE 100% never even returned my phone call, PROBABLY because I live in the bad part of town AND THEY FIGURED THEY WOULD MAKE NO MONEY OFF ME. $5000 American Dollars!

      Yep, it's easy. Buy a tamper at the hardware store too, it helps. Or just make a temporary one from a cinder block.

    • @JimVincitore
      @JimVincitore  Год назад +2

      I just put a topcoat of cement over my whole driveway, it took less than two hours. If your driveway is asphalt, you could coat it with a blacktop sealer in 30 minutes or less. I think a 5 gallon cost about $35.00.

    Pulling in off the road my driveway has about a 3 inch drop on the left and goes down to about an inch and a half on the right and it’s a down sloped driveway so when anyone pulls in the bottom scrapes a bit, I was thinking 2-3 bags of this stuff spread out like a ramp would fix that, how did it hold up for you? I know it’s not permanent but once it’s in place it should be easy to patch again right?

    • @JimVincitore
      @JimVincitore  2 месяца назад +1

      Should work great! You can add a little small gravel too to make it go farther. Now that I look at the 3", I'd use concrete (not mortar, concrete has gravel in it.), use the high strength stuff, $4.98 a bag. or maybe the real strong stuff $20/#30 bag, I think it's in a blue or yellow bag at Lowes. Concrete is great but it might break up that thin (I have that problem in my driveway). The stronger stuff is strengthened with glue and fibers. Maybe a layer of the strong concrete, then put the asphalt on top. I'm think if the 3" asphalt does not hardener, you'll have a squishy mess under your tires. Whatever you do, you'll probably have to patch it up ever year or so, especially the thinner side.

  • @dailycomicsfix
    @dailycomicsfix 5 лет назад +39

    1.) You need to clean the area of loose debris first, so the asphalt can grip/adhere to something that won't move.
    2.) Once in place, you want to tamper the asphalt down so it compacts itself and you get a good bond with the ground beneath it. Also, good compaction will help in keeping it together from changes in weather (heat and cold).
    3.) Wait 60 to 90 days before applying driveway sealant to ensure the asphalt hardens. Do not apply sealant to soft asphalt.

      Hi SB! Yeah but it's solid as a rock, no chipping off, and strong as the cement, even with my 7000 pound F250 driving on it. Thanks for watching! Jim

      @@JimVincitore you get rid of the loose material so that you get good adhesion all those fines and loose material are going to allow your patch to bread up after one season or less.

      @@JimVincitore I'm about to rebuild a berm where my driveway meets the street. Rainwater floods in my driveway ever since I knocked out the old one with the plow. Thanks for the video, very helpful.

    Omg get to the point we only watch this type of thing on RUclips so that we don’t have to read the instructions especially every word on the front of the bag.
