Sound and Cosmic type always sound like the best types for Pokemon to implement.
(TamValley's reasoning on Cosmic is fantastic.)
For Toxtricity, could imagine the Low Key form being Sound/Poison and the Amped form being Sound/Electric.
Always enjoy new type discussions.
Sound as a type doesn't make sense, it's a medium for types to be executed. It's like saying "punching" should be a type because there's punching moves
I agree to an extent. Yes, a pure "sound" type doesn't work as type because it's simply a medium of moves. However, the core idea of the sound type is really great and just needs some refining. Personally, I wouldn't make a "sound type" I'd make a Music Type. This is because it allows the sound subtype to remain unchanged while also allowing for more diversity in terms of moves and a more refined theme.
Bro thinks the Fighting type doesn’t exist
@@nickg3768 just because a move is classified as a punching move doesn't mean it's fighting type. Idk what you're getting at here
This kinda explains flying type, I can see your point but the things is that you oversimplfying the idea of sound type when as a Pokémon concept it can have so much potential
@@alexanderpena304 but I'm not oversimplifying it, I'm saying exactly how it is
Absolutely need a sound type
We already have the Sound type though, its called Normal.
Im not the biggest Sound type supporter, but I do think the mechanic could be expanded with a status condition or something.
It currently feels akin to stuff like Priority Moves and whatnot.
I’ve always wanted a sound type since I was a kid :D Sadly, I don’t think it’ll happen soon.
I appreciate that the person who made the type interactions in this image made it so that a hypothetical Sound-type attack would not be very effective against Sound-type Pokémon. This is due to the existence of the Soundproof ability.
I wanna guess that it was made prior to Legends Arceus since that's when they revealed Hisuian Voltorb & Electrode.
Below are the Pokémon that I'd consider changing into a Sound type:
Igglybuff line(Sound/Fairy), Politoed(Water/Sound), Misdreavus & Mismagius(Ghost/Sound), Whismur line(Sound), Chingling & Chimecho(Psychic/Sound), Kricketot & Kricketune(Bug/Sound), Chatot(Sound/Flying), Audino(Sound or Sound/Normal; Mega=Sound/Fairy), Meloetta(Aria Form=Sound/Psychic or Sound/Fairy; Pirouette Form=Sound/Fighting), Litleo & Pyroar(Sound/Fire), Noibat & Noivern(Dragon/Sound), Popplio line(Water/Sound; at the very least, Primarina should/could be Water/Sound rather than Water/Fairy), Grookey line, Galarian Zigzagoon line(Dark/Sound; at the very least, Obstagoon should be Dark/Sound), and Squawkabilly(Sound/Flying).
Below are the Pokémon that I was uncertain as to whether they should gain the Sound type:
Swablu & Altaria, Bronzor & Bronzong, Woobat & Swoobat(could be Sound/Flying or Fairy/Flying), Tympole line(Water and Ground each make sense since they also have to do with seismic activity), Jangmo-o line(Fighting works well for Hakamo-o and Kommo-o), Drampa, Toxtricity, Fuecoco line(I'm okay with Skeledirge being Fire/Ghost), and Scream Tail.
Below are the Pokémon that I disagree with making into a Sound type:
Kantonian Voltorb & Kantonian Electrode, Lapras, Bellossom(if anything, I think it should be Grass/Fairy it replace Healer with Dancer), Yanma & Yanmega, Ludicolo(I'd rather give it the Dancer ability), Azelf, Maractus(I could see this having the Dancer ability before I could see it being a Grass/Sound type), Pikipek line, and Boltund.
The following are moves that I think should become Sound type:
Relic Song, Echoed Voice, Growl, Screech, Roar, Noble Roar, Round, Hyper Voice, Boomburst, Confide, Perish Song, Heal Bell, Sing, Supersonic, Snore, Howl, and Uproar.
The following are moves that I'm uncertain about changing into the Sound type:
Chatter, Bug Buzz, Sparkling Aria, Torch Song, Overdrive, Snarl, Metal Sound, Grass Whistle, Disarming Voice, Parting Shot, Alluring Voice, Psychic Voice, Clanging Scales, Clangorous Soul, Clangorous Soulblaze, and Eerie Spell.
Like, here is the problem.
Igglybuff line already got a permanent type change, so it isn't getting one again
Popplio and Grookey lines are starter lines, so aren't getting the type change
Galarian Zigzagoon line are regional forms, which means they aren't getting a type change and if anything, if they do it will be Dark they will get rid off, since Galarian Zigzagoon is the original one, so it makes no sense they get rid of Normal, because Hoennian Zigzagoon is a normal type).
Audino is problematic because of its Mega, so is Altaria.
I see you also listed the moves, the moves also lies a problem in (Like, it makes no sense to change the non-damaging Normal moves into Sound moves, because they don't do damage anyways). Make the damaging Normal type moves into Sound moves, means some Normal type Pokemon that rely on them for STAB, but aren't good enough to get the type change to Sound, are bascially rendered useless now and people are already looking down on Normal types and see them as bad because of it - take for example Oranguru - Makes no sense to become Sound type, so it loses STAB Normal type on Hyper Voice, basically rendering the Normal typing on it useless.
The issue with the other moves for Sound type you have listed is
Bug Buzz - Bug in the name
Sparkling Aria - Primarina's Signature and a Water type move, so changing it to Sound changes nothing, since Primarina would get STAB if it would get Sound type anyways
Torch Song - Signature move for Skeledirge (A starter)
Overdrive - Signature Move for Toxtricity (Who isn't even getting a type change anyways, since then its naming convention Toxic Electricity makes no sense anymore)
Metal Sound - Has Metal n the name
Grass Whsitle - Grass in the name
Parting Shot - Doesn't matter, is non-damaging.
Psychic voice - has Psychic in the name
Clanging Scales and Clangourous Soul - Dragon type Exclusive move for Kommo-o (Says enough that is isn't getting a change).
Sound should stay as it is, a mechanic.
Agreed.
Like, what many people fail to realize with the Sound typing, is that in terms of moves, the only moves that can realistically be changed to Sound are the damaging Normal type moves like Hyper Voice and the other Voice moves. Changing the Non-Damaging to Sound, makes no sense in the effort from a developer standpoint, since they don't do damage anyways. However, changing the Normal damaging moves to Sound, nerfs the Normal types that rely on them, but make no sense to become Sound type Pokemon themselves with the prime example being Oranguru here, who relies on Hyper Voice for Normal STAB. If Hyper Voice gets changed to Sound type, you need to reconsidering Normal type on certain Pokemon too, because then the Normal type on them has been rendered useless (Like Oranguru can lose the Normal type then and become pure Psychic, since it doesn't benefit from being part Normal anymore anyways).
Like, the problem with the Sound type in general is - what is it going to be weak and strong against, since everything should be weak against Sound.
Sound type, for a couple of Pokemon listed here, are problematic in its own way. Not because Sound might not fit them, but because they are too important to get a type change.
Lets take Rillabbom and Primarina here - They will never get a type change/type added to them, because they are starters
Jigglypuff line - already got a type added to them with Fairy, so they aren't getting a type change again, else they would have made them Pure Fairy if they wanted to get rid of the Normal type on them
Meloetta is a Mythical
Azelf is part of a trio, so if Azelf is getting a type change, so would Mesprit and Uxie (But they won't, because legendaries).
Altaria and Audino have Mega's, so won't get a type change either.
Lapras has a G-max, so won't get one either
Kommo-o's design inspiration is that of a tribal warrior + its a Psuedo Dragon typing, with sound based moves that are also Dragon type. So it isn't getting a type change either.
Toxtricity is the most problematic of them all here. If it gets the Sound type, you need to take its Poison or Electric typing and there instantly lies the problem - it has Toxic and Electricity in its name, if you take away one of those types, its naming convention doesn't make sense anymore + it has a G-Max.
Galarian Zigzagoon is a regional form, so it makes no sense to give it the Sound type.
Its the same with people who are wanting the Cosmic and Light typings.
Cosmic typing is already covered with Psychic type and too a lesser extent Rock.
Light typing is already in the game, but is called Fairy type. People only want Light because of Dark type, while Dark type is not called Dark type in Japan, but Evil type, so in a sense, Fairy makes more sense than Light.
ngl i really hate that type chart. Water is already good it shouldn't be strong against sound it should be weak to it. conversely psychic is terrible right now with fairy just being better overall.
Offensively sound should be
2x water/steel for sure plus i like the electric idea youse have
1/2x bug/psychic/grass/poison
defensivly
resist water/steel/fairy
weak too bug/electric/poison
in terms of its self interaction i feel there are 2 routes to take it that'd be cool both based off sound waves interfering with each other. so either sound is weak to itself like dragon/ghost or sound is immune to itself
