Thank you for watching my review of the LG 34GN850 Ultrawide NanoIPS Gaming Monitor. This was sponsored by no one but myself so please consider subscribing, as it helps grow the channel and bring you more videos.
This is a premium monitor with a premium price tag, but it really delivers the goods. Color, speed, size, features... it has basically everything you need for a high end PC gaming experience.
I got this monitor. It's freaking amazing
Don't even hesitate buying it. This thing is jaw droppingly beautiful. Everything looks so freaking sharp clear and colorful on this thing.
Sean, contents keeps getting better and better! And the editing is fantastic. Keep up the good work
Thank you! 💪
@@TechWithSean Thanks for the quick reply brother! I haven’t seen that one available on Newegg yet, ill be on the lookout
@@TechWithSean Sean, could you help me out if you still have TV his monitor? I just got it and would Like to know if you would Share your calibration settings?
i know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a way to log back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly lost my account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Emerson Tristen instablaster ;)
That music you chose during the game play is just nice. Really good choice.
You are the best reviewer in RUclips sir, I'm subscribed you got my trust :)
Not sure why I'm watching a review for a monitor that I already own, but I picked up one of these about 6 months ago and absolutely love it for gaming, and having the extra screen real estate for my work purposes is also great. When not gaming I am a big fan of the 'reader' mode for reading and writing, way less eye strain than what I used to experience with my previous monitor. I agree about the HDR though, I typically don't use it at all, though recently I tried it out when playing AC Odyssey and thought it looked amazing.
Great video. Cut right to the chase and shared personal experience with the product, instead of just reading off of a spec sheet like many youtube reviews. Very helpful
The updated version of this monitor, the 34GP83A-B, is currently 800$ on Amazon. Its the same exact monitor, but with an ultragear logo instead of LG, simpler packaging with only 1 DP cable, and has a slightly different menu interface. Im not sure how or why LG got this to be 150-200$ cheaper than the 34GN850-B, but I just got mine yesterday and its awesome. Highly recommend getting it because I dont think the GN850 is going to go on sale and I dont think the GP83A is going to get much cheaper this year around because they are so new. So, if youre considering a 34GN850, I simply recommend going with the 34GP83A to get it at a lower price. Currently its 800$ on Amazon (50$ off).
I gotta say, although my current graphics card cant run it at very high frames, it is REALLY good.
You’re right, I did a video comparing them side-by-side
this is the review that i was looking for to convince me to buy a 34" monitors.
thanks dude !!!
did you buy this one?
@@spacecy i didnt they are sold out since like i did the comment
@@Oscarisimo bummer
@@Oscarisimo hey man did you buy one now since it's in stock?
@@T777Mi6 i didnt buy it. Dude
Been loving the
LG 34GK950F-B 34" 21:9 Ultragear WQHD Nano IPS Curved Gaming Monitor with Radeon FreeSync 2 (2018), Black. Has held the same value and even gone up by over $100 since I got it in November of last year.
If you are lucky you can snag this for 850. Amazon had it a month ago
@Nils Grønkjær You will love it
Oof this monitor looks nice🤩
Great video Sean✌️
Quick question: what’s the song name after the intro at 0:13 ? Been looking for the name for ages lol. Great video btw, I’m looking to get one of these in the future!
Love this monitor, best one I have owned
Hey, how is it going?
Do you regret your decision?
I got the 38GL950 last week..Its great!
That thing is a beast! 👍 I looked at that too, it was on sale at Costco, but my desk isn’t very deep, so I would need a different setup where I would sit a bit further back for a 38” I think.
Really detailed review, thank you so much
No problem, thank you for watching 👍
Do you experience any brightness changes and fluctuation when gaming on HDR? On my LG27UN850 HDR has this problem of slightly changing brightness while watching a movie on PC or playing a PS4 pro game in HDR, even when Smart Energy Saving is set to off(which is actually grayed out when in HDR mode) So I set it to off when in SDR mode, then I hop into HDR mode again and the option looks to be still off but it is grayed out(As if the HDR is not even considering that option when it is in use). So What exactly is this?
I haven’t noticed any fluctuations, but I’ve honestly only used HDR very much in Forza Horizon 4 and Assassins Creed Odyssey in Windows
Dude, great video! Watching your video I just realized.. on my desk is the same speakers, same keyboard and even same mouse mat.. and about to be the same monitor! The only thing different is the mouse and tower!
Great review, you got my sub.
Great video Sean. Thanks for the review !
i just bought the alienware ultrawide, should arrive soon. cant wait to play on this
I was looking at that one too, I bet you will love it 👍
Why did you pick Alienware over the LG? Just curious.
I was honestly gonna get the Alienware and last minute didn’t do it. The better qc and support would have been phenomenal but with the RTX 3080 pushing some games past 120hz sealed the deal for me
I have this monitor as well. with a 3080, its a complete game changer...Pun intended. Its unreal.
Hi mate, looking to get this monitor too with my new 3080. How many FPS you getting on high, max settings please?
@@dannieboi3742 Late reply but I run a 2080Ti EVGA FTW3 Ultra Plus and it still runs at above 100FPS on max settings for the latest AAA titles.
Hey Sean, thanks for the excellent review(s). Something that confuses me: what's the difference between this one and the lg 34gp83a-b ? They seem very similar?
I have one on the way, hopefully should have a side by side comparison up next week 👍
@@TechWithSean Nice! I ordered the 850-b a few days back. Delivery in my country is more then 3 weeks. If the lg 34gp83a-b is any better, I'm going to cancel the 850 and buy this one instead.
I am still in the return window on mine, if they are the same I will probably return the more expensive one
@@TechWithSean I did notice one little difference: the 34gp83a-b seems to have a red LG logo on the back.
do you think that it is worth to upgrade from LG 34UC79G-B?
I'm not as much satisfied while gaming shooters like WarZone, and would like to have 1440p for RTX 3080, but overall it is nice monitor what I currently have.
I keep seeing a lot of people pick the AW3420DW over this monitor but, it's faster and has more color. WHY??
Maybe they like the aesthetics or trust the brand? 🤷♂️ On paper the specs on this LG has it beat. I haven’t had hands-on experience with the Alienware, though.

If you set your picture settings to Cinema, then you are able to play a Xbox series x or ps5 on this monitor….without the black bars and without any screen stretching …
Still out of stock where I live, got one on preorder any day now !
going to return my xiaomi 34 curved and get this !
Look at the LG 34GP83A too, it’s the same panel with a new logo and only one DisplayPort cable included, but is a bit less expensive.
Why did you return the Xiaomi? Sure this one is better, but that's to be expected when taking such a step.
@@marinko6450 VA Panel. terrible FreeSync apllicaion and overall i had 2 of them and they had terrible BackLight bleeding. Also no HDR, while this one has (just 400 but its fine)
@@MUSTAFK Yea I'm gonna order this one today as well. Seeing as you're Dutch as well, it's on big sale on CoolBlue now. Maar 800 euro :)
@@marinko6450 Yup, i just saw it as well and im thinking of buying it too now. Doesnt really get much cheaper is my guess :)
I'm really thinking about it . I'm currently using a va panel, and i only play immersive games and not competive. Colours and some sort of hdr is important to me. Should I be okay getting this? Only worried about contrastratio
Thanks for the info that helped a lot!!
Good review, mate.
Would be interesting to compare this monitor to the Dell AW 3420 DW :D
Does this monitor have split-screen support? Can I use an Xbox and a PC at the same time?
Great review! Thank you!
I just ordered the 38 inch version that comes with hdr600. Gould take up to 2 months to arrive though
Hey awesome videos! 👍 subscribed! Keep it up!
Entertaining and informative. Thanks
I preordered this monitor (currently out of stock) because of tax return and since 3080 which i have preordered is at least 6 months away, i can jsut upgrade everything else first as my 2080 can still kick some punch :P
And i chose this monitor as well for the framerate as well as vivid colors and non smeary black like VA has and had on the 3 previous monitors i've tested. Like CRG 90 super ultrawide, an asus ultrawide as well as a asus 4k panel all 3 being VA's
Very Nice Video Thanks

Do you recommend this monitor for using Photoshop and Premiere Pro for web work?
I need a monitor that has the right balance between graphics and gaming.
Thank you and great job!
I’m a graphic designer as my day job, I would actually not recommend a curved display at all for creative stuff. You mentioned photoshop, for me it’s usually InDesign or illustrator, but having a curved screen makes it harder to tell if you have lines straight or not. Color-wise it is pretty good, though.
@@TechWithSean Thank you very much for your reply.
What about two LG 27GN850 monitors? It's the same panel, but 16:9 and not curved.
Or just one LG 27GN850 for gaming and another monitor (Benq maybe?) more graphics oriented?
Could you fit one of those 48” LG OLEDs into your setup?
@@TechWithSean Unfortunately not, the desk is not big enough
was looking to pick this up for wow mostly. are you still enjoying it?✌
You should look at the LG 34GP38A. Updated version that is a little cheaper, I just posted a video on it the other day! 👍
@@TechWithSean Thanks for the quick reply brother! I haven’t seen that one available on Newegg yet, I’ll be on the lookout.
@@TechWithSean: Does these monitors have differences in color temps between 144 and 160Hz?
Which GPU might you recommend to pair with the monitor? Would a 2080ti or 3070 cut it?
For sure, especially with variable refresh rate. Because of the high resolution I may try to get a 10+ GB card though, it’s much closer to 4K than 1080p. I believe 3070 is 8GB which may be cutting it close in the next gen games with ultra textures at that resolution
@@TechWithSean thanks for the advice!
Looks really fantastic!
Will I get 1440 at 120 Hz for the series x using hdmi 2.0?
what about the new Coolmaster monitor vs this?
Can you make a video of if my GPU can't handle it in the future if I downscale the resolution and ratio 21:9 to 16:9 will it looks like a real native 1440p 16:9 monitor? Or looks blurry?
You don’t want to downscale from a 21:9 image to a 16:9 image, the whole frame will be distorted (squished).
@@TechWithSean Damn. Thanks for the answer and reply.
Is the sphere behind the monitor with led lights?
Excelent 👍
Hey Sean I want to request you to make a video on how to install adrenalines drivers for bootscamp for macbook pro 16 as you are the only one I trust and their is no video to how to install these drivers pls help me pls make a video
Hi sean, how looks this ips in very dark games like batman?
If u play dark came then go with VA samsung odyssey g7 🤣
Thinking about buying this with my xbox series x. Would it run on 144hz? On HDMI?
I don’t think consoles support ultrawide resolutions
the problem with this monitor is the contrast ratio is garbage, i´ve heard its even below the advertisted 1000:1
i cant stand it because i always play in dark enviromnents and it looks so bad + the ips glow
i think i´m gonna go with the samsung g7 wastly better contrast, more responsive, 240 hz, better hdr, the only thing that is holding me back is that i rly wanted to go ultrawide... but hey cant have it all..
(unless im paying 2500€ for top end ultrawide lmao)
Those Samsung monitors are VA panels, I believe. I will gladly put up with some glow to use an IPS monitor. VAs have smearing in the dark areas and the color isn’t as rich. This LG has pretty decent contrast for an IPS.
@@TechWithSean I suppose it comes down to preference. I used to say all the words you did. IPS is the best and the colours are brilliant. I wont go to VA for the ghosting.
I had a x34p Ultrawide IPS. Decided to upgrade my monitor and wanted something great to match my powerful rig. Went for the X35 which is a VA panel. 200hz, 1000nit hdr, FALD 512 zones, g-sync ultimate.
Read for days on end about the panel before biting the bullet. ALL because of the fear of ghosting. Got to say it looks brilliant. Colours pop and wow the contrast is night and day. When you look at what makes a good picture contrast is actually one of the biggest factors especially with HDR. Open world games just look night and day better.
@@Gazz1291 Who would have thought a monitor 3 times as expensive was better !
@@TechWithSean nope the samsung VA panel on g7 is greatly improved and best VA on market ....its best monitor for gaming right now and have amazing colors and black ...playing dark soul game make it look like 3d effect....
@@mathieub6192 u can go with g7 its cheaper
What is the difference between this monitor and the LG 34GP83A-B. They seem identical to me but the GP is $200 less. Please help!
Check out my video where I compared the two 👍
@@TechWithSean I saw that. Thanks. After using it for awhile you still think they are identical?
How is the text clarity?
This or alienware 34"?
How good is it for BLB and glow?
Not too bad, there is some in the very corners but I think that’s to be expected with a curved IPS.
@@TechWithSean ok thanks!
Is this monitor any good for console gaming? Looking to get a curved monitor that can support all the features of my Xbox series x. If anyone has any better options let me know.
I wouldn’t get a 21:9 monitor for console games, I would look for something that has 4K and HDMI 2.1. Xbox doesn’t support ultrawide so you’d have black bars on the sides in every game.
Samsung G70A 28” would be a pretty good one, but it isn’t curved.
@@TechWithSean Thanks for your help
I have the same wallpaper.
Me clicking on the link and having a heart attack cuz of the price
Does the $1000 include sales tax?
No
song around 08:00?
Thx ! :)
Are the fan noisy?
I don’t think these monitors have active fans in them. If they do, they are so quiet I have never noticed they were there
What about this monitor for xbox series x??
Consoles don’t support ultrawide so you’d have black bars on the side in everything.
That part with Forza where there were black bars on all four sides is one thing I don’t like about ultrawide.
I definitely have a love/hate relationship with ultrawide monitors for playing games.
Need to speed it up these videos and be more punchy in detail, and presentation.
Content is good.
Это не тот монитор, - это модель другого монитора - LG 34GP83A-B походууу!!!!!
Contrast is poor
Great review and very first-person informative. One note, I know tech is a causal dress group, but you might think of stepping up to a collared shirt...just saying
Reading the spec sheet and trusting what it says is a bad idea. If you do not have the tools to measure these stats then do not review the monitor. This already seems like a paid sponsorship.
