Great monitor. Bought mine a few days ago. Much better than 34” dell which I had to return a few months ago. Hopefully, one day they will make ultrawide with 32’s vertical height
I appreciate this video, as it was very difficult to purchase this monitor for myself considering the price. Probably watched this video ten times over. Best monitor I have yet to use in all my production and gaming scenarios for the past three months!
1st time viewer. Great review! As a software developer that does occasional gaming the extra vertical pixels are nearly essential for efficient work. There's a reason the MBP is 16:10 and the Pixel notebooks were 4:3; 16:9 isn't good for development. Thanks for the technical details about refresh rate limitation because this panel doesn't have the bandwidth it really requires that exists in >= Display Port 2.0 (which this doesn't have).
Its nice to have somebody who talks about everything and the info on this display witch i needed was in this video. Really professional review and on a level of PC Centric, JayzTwoCents, i'm interessed to see you making a budget build pc or something PC related. Thanks man !
Thanks for the review! Just pulled the trigger on this monitor. I was originally holding out for the Samsung G9 but the extreme curvature, lack of 1600p, and tacky white design are enough of a turn-off for me I think. I'm replacing my Dell U3818DW with this monitor and I don't think I could downgrade from 38"/1600p after using it for so long.
I bought the GL based on your review. Took a little getting used to as I came from a 27 4K display. Really enjoying the GL, especially since I got it for the price of the GN in Canada. Thanks!
@@Gerry89b I do. It was a bit of a change but honestly you're only losing a little bit in picture detail. Games get more frames and look 90% the same just wider.
Excellent review. totally with you regarding the G9. I had one and at first looked amazing but it lacked height and ended up with an amazon basics tv bracket to wall mount it. Mine had an issue anyway and i got a refund but now looking at this LG's.
Thanks Stan. I am agonizing over the the height issue too. I have a 34" ultrawide and it is not tall enough especially ever since excel added those really wide menu ribbons. I often need to compare vertically as well as horizontally. I just pulled the trigger for a 32" 4k 16:9. Can't wait to hear how you feel about the 38" ultrawide and losing that 1-2" of vertical after a while.
I just paid 895 dollars (£744) brand new from UK LG store. This makes the older version £600 cheaper than this one and a no brainer really. Thanks for the review because now I know the local dimming and the HDR600 on this is about as useful as the older version so it’s made me even more happy I got that older version and saved a massive amount of money too.
Being fully G-sync compatible but not having an active fan is a huge boon. I ordered the AW3420DW from Dell a few days ago and now I'm considering to cancel the order and get this instead.
I believe that both the gl and the gn versions are worth the money. It just depends on if you really need the g-sync module. It turns out that: - The adaptive sync which is the main feature stays relatively the same as with the module. - The major diferrence is with the overdrive mode. Conclusion: Theoretically the g-sync module is smoother and less blury while gaming. I am an IT tecnichian and i deal with a lot of laptops. This kind of fans doesn't get that dusty but it is true that in some cases they run out faster than a normal fan. For this reasons i canceled my order and replaced the gl with the gn version. I feel like you can actually take advantage of the g-sync module if you really do a lot of gaming. If the only thing you are searching for is image quality and you also like some casual gaming then the gn model is definetly enough. Thank you, I was confused about the two monitors since they are similar in specifications, and I use Nvidia graphics card, but in the end you summed up the long search for me 🤍
Late to the party but great review. My 34GK950G-B broke yesterday and bought LG 38GN950 few hours later. Already knew the specs as i was looking at the GSYNC version for the last 4-5 months (missed some great 800 EUR second hand 2 year warranty offers on amazon thinking i don`t need to change my monitor ...). Was looking for a Free Sync review (still had time to cancel the purchase in case i change my mind) and now i`m 100% sure i made the right decision. The only bad thing is the price. Paid 1300 EUR.
@Brian Rodriguez Costco cancelled my order because I wasn't a member. I guess they have some secret rule for first time buyers with large ticket items. I might put another order in this week.
@Brian Rodriguez Two bright green stuck pixels on mine (one right in the center). Also, there was a strange issue with it not booting up when I first plugged it in. I'm exchanging with Costco. We'll see how the next one is. I might have kept this one if that pixel wasn't literally right in the middle.
After watching your 3 vids about lg38's I'm going for the 38GL950G-B. For 2 reasons: the GL its now 300$ cheaper than the GN, second thing G-sync incl. not G-sync comp. with an intel 10900k/ rtx2080ti its going to be just fine , nice vids u get one more sub! (me) ;-)
I ordered 38GL950G more or less without doing a deep enough dive into reviews. I'm returning it after 3 days of use, and I'll be replacing it with 38GN950. Why? G-Sync module fan noise is killing me.
Imagine if they allowed you to invert the local dimming values between blacks and whites. You'd get a more uniform display for those that do web programming for example with a dark editor and a white web page preview, making the editor text sort of match the overwhelming bright web page so you hopefully don't get so much eye strain when looking back and forth between the editor and the preview.
Not that I can tell. Everything is working as expected on the GN. I suspect it was the G-Sync module not playing nice with the monitor going to sleep and locking the monitor to 85Hz & 422 when it woke up. I don't know if LG fixed it in their newest monitors but I have not seen a firmware update for the GL950G.
Im not really a fan of chinese because my father is chinese but any chinese who is educated and didnt grew up in china and not a cringey chinese teens is very great to listen to because you know they are knowledgeable to what they are buying and in depth with details. I like this video
So it seems there is a new GL version of this monitor, the 38GL950G-B? Does the "-B" mean it's the newest revision? According to LG's website it appears to be newer than this GN version, and appears to have a slimmer bezel than the previous GL, or so I'm guessing.
I can chip in on the fan issues with the GL model. More than a month ago I ordered one and was blown away by the quality of the screen and the whole experience, had no issues with fan noise from the g-sync module fan. At this time I was very happy! Then after 32 days of use a high pitched whinelike noise started eminating from the fan. At first it was barely audible but during the next few days the problem escalated and the sound was even cutting through my headphones eventually. It got up to the point where I really couldn't stand it, so I had to return the monitor. I got my money back -10% due to it being past a 30-day return period (Swedish law). I just ordered this monitor as a replacement. So if you are noise sensitive, be warned that the fan is a form of gamble, perhaps there will be no issues for you, but even though things seem fine it can escalate and become a problem later on.
Thanks for the insight. Personally, I still prefer the actual G-Sync module but moving parts inside of a monitor that is supposed to last years seems to be a big downfall for the V2 G-Sync panels. I can definitely understand the caution people have with the GL. Good luck with your new GN monitor!
I just received this monitor vs a Samsung 4K UHD $400 Monitor and it took me some time to warm up to it! With that kind of price difference I would've thought it would have been a no brainer but it did take me some time to like it. Still looking at videos Im not able to 4K game on this monitor apparently.
Great and informative video! I think this panel is definitely the one I'm going to buy, just depends on whether I settle on getting a 3080 or the upcoming AMD Navi cards.
best vid so far on these monitors! thank you! LG seems to be the company for 38 inchers..... I was just comparing the size to my 32 inch, and it was just adding a bit of screen estate on one side.... then I was wondering, if there are Monitors that have same hight, but are wider? is there something? UUUHH JEAH this one LG 49WL95C-WE
Very good and thorough review of this two monitors and it made my choice easy, it will be the LG 38GN950-B for me :). Why? Because of the fan inside the LG 38GL950G that can go bad after a while with unwanted noice and i don´t want that possibility to be there as i am going to have this monitor for a long long time. Oh and yeah, you have a new fallower on youtube from now on and i gave you thumbs up as well ;) As i said many thanks Stan, you made it easy for me :)
@SuprUsr Stan . Best review out there.. Question .. i just got RTX 3080 ti .. here i am , should i go with the LG 38GN950-B or with the LG 48" CX Oled Tv 4K @ 120 hz ??? of course the wide screen is very cool , also Oled can have burned spot eventualy on the screen .. i am mostly gaming .. what your advice to get the best out of the 3080 ti for visual candy eyes , mostly playing DCS simulator and Red dead redemption 2 ( right now i struggle between those 2 choice ) thx you for your time ! sorry for my bad spelling english haha . best regards !!
Hi there. Great review. Do you ever find yourself wishing you had that crisp text and high pixel density of the 32” 4K panel? I’m trying to choose between a 32” 4K and this 38” right now
Going from 32 to 38 wowed me more than anything by the large increase in display area. Switching back to 32” for a while, what I missed most was the extra desktop space. The increase in density was greatly overshadowed by the loss in surface area. If you primarily game, go ultra wide. The text of a 27” 1440p display is good enough. IMO.
SuprUsr Stan interesting. Thanks for the reply. I actually don’t game at all. This monitor will be for designing apps and websites. The width will help a lot as I’ll be able to see more screens at one time. So I’m looking at the 60hz LG 38” too since I don’t game. Great job on your reviews man keep it up
davidchatvideo oh if that’s the case I’d recommend taking a look at LG’s other 38” offerings. They’re substantially cheaper than these high refresh rate gaming monitors.
Great review, thanks. I have a new PC on order with an nVidia card, but evem so I much prefer the non G-SYNC LG for the extra HDMI. I wasn't sure whether I should change my PC order to a FreeSync based GPU instead, but looks like the G-Sync emulation will be good enough for my needs.
I'm owning a 3440x1440 60hz model, thinking about switching to the GL or GN one for more vertical space and higher refresh rate. Leaning more towards the GL, but the fan noise problem is the only thing that keeps me concerned a little. I'm also curious what the 3080 or 3090 gpus could do in terms of fps on 3800x1600 with high/ultra settings, as this is even more pixels than my current 3440x1440
I haven't tested them, waiting for 38WN95 to be available, but even though few edge-lit zones on GN is not much, it should at least be enough to be able to apply high brightness to some portion of the scene without overblowing the entire screen, while GL, like any HDR400 screen, only has global dimming and can only dim down and light up the entire screen, which causes massive brightness fluctuations. So the situation here is that HDR on GL causes way more issues than it is worth, it is basically like turning on global dimming on your TV, while GN may just have bare minimum spec to make it presentable.
Interesting to compare the perspectives of you coming from a 32" 4K panel, because 32" 4K is about the only other one I would consider away from my 34" 1440p ultrawide. Thanks for checking out both versions as well. However you say around the 9:40 mark that these are the first 1600p panels, and that's off the mark. Dell and Apple did 1600p panels as far back as 2006, and LG has had a 1600p ultrawide since 2016.
The height being not enough was the reason I ordered the LG and not the Samsung. I saw the G9 and instantly thought it was not high enough to work on it.
I think that it is most important for anyone to use that monitor very especially text. It is a perfect example on your video at 4:04 that shows you a ghost or blurry. Many of us use surfing on the internet. It is more like that you focus on gaming. Why can't you guys focus on both gaming and surfing on the internet? I read about Odyssey G9 monitor that does a terrible job due to leaking, dots, and others. Again, the text on the screen is very important. That is what you need: no more blurry/ghost when you scroll up or down a website.
There is 3 types of this monitor out now? I Just got my self a 3080 and is planing to upgrade my monitor from a 3 year old 4k 27 monitor :) what is the best one for nvidia cards? G-B is the newest? And going from 4k to this Will it look worse or not notice it? Great video by the way 👌
You actually got your hands on the 3080?! The GN and GL both have their unique Pro's. It's hard to go wrong with either though. There is a small drop in quality going from 4K. It's like going back to a 1440p 27" monitor but the size and the distance you sit away from it makes up some of the difference.
Great video. I was hoping to ask you some advice. I have been using the Acer Predator x34 for a few years. I just purchased (still waiting) a new max loaded Alienware R11 with the 3080 card, intel i9-10900kf, 128gb ram etc. etc. I was looking to get a newer gaming monitor and was looking at one of these LG 38" or possibly the Samsung 49". My question is with my set up (NVidia card) which would you recommend and which model? The LG seems to have several versions of that monitor and I am not 100% of all the differences and which would be the right one for my set up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've been following your videos on the recent LG 38 line-up. Good stuff, thank you. I've noticed the image is noticeably darker when overclock mode is enabled my 38GN950. Have you experienced this at all?
Stan, I just ordered a 38GL950 and after watching this am questioning if I should have gone with teh GN version? I currently have a 1080Ti and 6700K looking to upgrade to a 10900K and a 3080Ti if that helps with helping me and my decision. I have def read a lot about the Fan noise issue and sure hope I have a unit that does not suffer from a high pitched loud fan. Figure I can return if its is immediately apparent but seems like quite a few users say it develops over time so maybe the extended no hassle warranty would be worth? I also was interested in more info about how the GN is a backlit panel vs the GL being and edge lit, am I correct in this statement? HDR400 vs 600 isnt really to important to me especially since peak brightness is the same on both of these panels. Any guidance on which to go with would be much appreciate, lol overly concerned with my choice considering you got rid of the GL for the GN (and I like you don't want to wait for the x38 not to mention that's gonna be $2500 instead of the 1800/1600 of the GL/GN.)
Hey, I am considering these three Lg's, LG 38GL950-B vs LG 38WN95C-W vs LG 38GN950-B? I was also considering either a Samsung Odyssey G9 and/or a Dell Alienware AW3821DW but I think I like G9 the most (at least for now) but let's see. I hardly do any games any more but like G9's size and curvature and looks and want a right one mainly for productive and creative work like editing and websites etc and for a little bit of game time. Watched videos of content creators and developers loving their G9 though but lot's of G9's had issues earlier on and now it seems to have been fixed but you never know. Thank You for your great work and advice :))
I had a 38GL950 and though the fan was quiet it had enough noise to bother me when my room was silent. Like I had a case of tinitus. I then went with a 38GN950 and found a single stuck pixel. Currently waiting on a replacement and hopefully it won't have any issues.
So what are your impressions from 38GN950-B regarding overdrive overshoots (in what mode and at what fps have you tested it?) and what is the gamut out of the box (and did you calibrate it further?) Thanks!
Hey Stan, thanks for this video. I just got set up my 38GN950-B monitor and I hadn't even played a game yet and I'm already loving all of the real estate. In your video, you are showing what looks like a screensaver of a pendulum. Where did you get this? When I went to the LG site and tried to download the On Screen control software, there was nothing available. What exactly are you using for that pendulum & how can I get it? Again, thanks for this video - it was very helpful while I was figuring out what monitor to purchase.
Hi there. Great review. Do you know how to turn off the 'light show' when the screen starts up, and resumes from sleep? I bought the screen as well, for professional use. Even though I have the LEDs turned off, they make a light show every time the screen awakes.
Could you clarify or go into depth on this lol. I am considering the 38WN95C since it's the same thing as GN with thunderbolt 3 support but I lose the dope rgb light bar.
@@Madhawk1995 The screen has a ring of LED lights on the back. They do a light show every time the screen wakes from sleep. It is very apparent. You can't cover it completely with tape as the light effects goes through multiple openings to the case of the screen. This makes it look silly and unprofessional. Imagine a gaming light show multiple times a day in office sorroundings. I have asked LG. They said they would look into it but didnt get back. If you like light shows, go for it.
@@thomasmllerlarsen7569 to be honest, that would be fine for me at home. But, I would highly suggest picking up the 38WN95C if that was the case. PBP & Thunderbolt 3 are nice options. Plus, auto brightness is nice in office. I don't know if you will ever utilize the built in speakers as well. Only Con I see is no ability to overclock to 160hz and no RGB sphere light bar for ambient light show.
Why was there screen tearing on the local dimming demo? Does the G/Free Sync only work for games rather than everything the graphics card displays? Or did you turn it off for this demo?
I am confused about something. X38P and 38GL has the same panel correct? Still they are HDR400 only while this is listed as HDR600. Can anyone answer that?
Just wanna put this out there as a PSA: I have the LG GN38950, and the panel is REALLY problematic. I've done 2 trades with LG and both panels had dead pixels. The second one had incredibly bad backlight bleed in the corners. Enough to detract from the viewing experience. I don't think I'll ever trust a LG monitor again, given how daaamn expensive this was.
Thoughts on this vs. the LG CX 48 as a monitor? I'm really second guessing if I want the TV. I've had it for a month and it's really not as bad as I thought it would be. However, there are some issues with chroma subsampling at 4k 120hz. The 38" resolution should be quite a bit easier and realistic to run. I really like ultrawide ratio too, but I'll be able to scale that and run it on the CX with black bars. I'm also wondering if it's too future proofed because it seems like the 4k experience on anything but console is kind of bad right now. I plan on getting new consoles, but mostly PC game. WFH as well. I wish the CX had a little curve. That said, the contrast and OLED is just amazzzzing. Another note, the fiance will only let me get 1 of monitor or TV for now, so the CX checks both boxes. However, I could get the 38" and theoretically get a 4k TV to play console down the line. Not super rushed with that.
What about 38GN95B-B vs 38GN950-B? Those seem to have exact same specs. They look a bit different and price is a bit different as well. Really hard to find any info.
Great review. BTW I too have always wondered about the height of the display with regards to using spreadsheets or reading PDF documents. What difference does it make with pixels rather than size (height). Wouldn’t a bigger monitor like the Samsung’s 49 inch have taller height? Hence more page to see than than a 38 inch one?
Hello. I have had the same screen for over 3 months now. Today I noticed that at the bottom of the right side of the screen there are several bubbles lying in the screen. Do you have any idea what it could be?
Have they announced a new replacement for this panel yet with CES going on I never know when is a good time to buy ! Although they have a long track record of announcing a panel in January and finally shipping it in late December lol
Can you comment on the picture-by-picture capabilities? I was trying to decide between a G9 and this and ended up buying the G9 for 2x full 16:9 PBP, but after experiencing motion sickness with 32:9 gaming i'm planning to return the G9 and pick up some 3840x1600, but a priority is being able to display my PC and a game console side by side without black bars - is that possible? Hoping for a full 16:9 HDMI input with whatever resolution is left for my PC on DP.
Hi please would still recommend the displays in your view , I have a 3900x and a strix 2080ti , my old monitor died had it three years it was would I noticed the difference on the LG I missed 4k in games thanks
I'd like to know that too. Theoretically G-sync Compatible certification should ensure that there is no flicker, but I've seen some people complaining about it even with such screens. It is pretty common with early Adaptive Sync displays to get flickering during more aggressive performance fluctuations, it mostly down to frametime spikes, it will cause the VRR to go violently out of range and cause a flicker, and it is really sensitive to any fluctuations, even microstutters. But you really need to play wide variety of games to be able to tell whether the display flickers or not, most people or reviewers just launch Pendulum demo and judge by that, which is a very bad practice because this demo has perfectly smooth framerate transitions and no frametime spikes, which is not how games work. It is not only about gameplay, frametime during loading screens is all over the place for example. Hovering a mouse over certain UI elements often causes a frametime spike as well, like viewing item stats in Grim Dawn or pressing Search on Auction Hall in many MMOs. It is a very serious problem with VRR displays that nobody really tests properly.
@@krzych3114 very true, I could not find anyone who has made a video that correctly illustrates the presence of flickering or stutter related to gaming sessions on various titles. I'll wait for someone to do it.
Very little information available on both these monitors thank you so much for the video !

man i waited a loot your review to this monitor, i want to buy one, and your review its awesom
Thanks man! You just sold a new monitor for LG. Just bought it from Costco! Its the last day for the 200 dollar discount, too!
@Brian Rodriguez Costco cancelled my order because I wasn't a member. I guess they have some secret rule for first time buyers with large ticket items. I might put another order in this week.
Ok, ordered it again after getting a Costco membership....fingers crossed.
Was there an improvement with the 38GN950’s noise? Also what gpu are you using and what FPS do u get usually?
Great and useful video. I’m looking at this monitor along upcoming AMD Big Navi as my next purchases
Nice Review! Any problems with the color profile sleep bug from the GL model?
Not that I can tell. Everything is working as expected on the GN. I suspect it was the G-Sync module not playing nice with the monitor going to sleep and locking the monitor to 85Hz & 422 when it woke up. I don't know if LG fixed it in their newest monitors but I have not seen a firmware update for the GL950G.
Im not really a fan of chinese because my father is chinese but any chinese who is educated and didnt grew up in china and not a cringey chinese teens is very great to listen to because you know they are knowledgeable to what they are buying and in depth with details. I like this video
Thanks for the review. I think I'll get this one and try not think about the loss of money.
It's not a loss of money! It's called an investment in your mental health and gamer well being.
think of it this way - money's basically useless until it's exchanged for goods or services. And just take a look at these goods!
So it seems there is a new GL version of this monitor, the 38GL950G-B? Does the "-B" mean it's the newest revision? According to LG's website it appears to be newer than this GN version, and appears to have a slimmer bezel than the previous GL, or so I'm guessing.
Man that was the best review on those monitors, massive thumbs up!
@zzSHOTGUNzz So no issue with the GN model ?
Kuro Vader I will receive it tomorrow, but since its confirmed that it has no fan Im feeling confident. Just hoping there are no other issues ofc!
Thanks for the insight. Personally, I still prefer the actual G-Sync module but moving parts inside of a monitor that is supposed to last years seems to be a big downfall for the V2 G-Sync panels. I can definitely understand the caution people have with the GL. Good luck with your new GN monitor!
when did you buy 38gl950g?
@@이지-v9m 1,5 months ago
I picked one up at Costco online as well. Thanks for the review!
@Randy Marsh the 38GN950. I love it.
@Randy Marsh it looks great! You will enjoy it
Awesome review, buddy!
I’m going AMD GPU with my new build and was looking for the best Ultrawide for it, and I think this is it! 👍
odyssey g9 goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
@SuprUsr Stan . Best review out there.. Question .. i just got RTX 3080 ti .. here i am , should i go with the LG 38GN950-B or with the LG 48" CX Oled Tv 4K @ 120 hz ??? of course the wide screen is very cool , also Oled can have burned spot eventualy on the screen .. i am mostly gaming .. what your advice to get the best out of the 3080 ti for visual candy eyes , mostly playing DCS simulator and Red dead redemption 2 ( right now i struggle between those 2 choice )
thx you for your time ! sorry for my bad spelling english haha . best regards !!
SuprUsr Stan yea will do!
Great review, thanks. I have a new PC on order with an nVidia card, but evem so I much prefer the non G-SYNC LG for the extra HDMI.
I wasn't sure whether I should change my PC order to a FreeSync based GPU instead, but looks like the G-Sync emulation will be good enough for my needs.
the GN is actually about $700 more where I live (europe).
38GN950-B after a year this monitor still amazes me
Would you recommend the LG 38GN950-B over the LG 38WN95-C? Having a hard time choosing. Not sure I understand what warrants the $200 price difference.
I am in the same boat and for me lg38wn95c is a little more esthetic pleasing for me and not so gaming.
Would you say the HDR400 on 38GL950G is inferior to 38GN950G's HDR600?
I haven't tested them, waiting for 38WN95 to be available, but even though few edge-lit zones on GN is not much, it should at least be enough to be able to apply high brightness to some portion of the scene without overblowing the entire screen, while GL, like any HDR400 screen, only has global dimming and can only dim down and light up the entire screen, which causes massive brightness fluctuations. So the situation here is that HDR on GL causes way more issues than it is worth, it is basically like turning on global dimming on your TV, while GN may just have bare minimum spec to make it presentable.
Very informative and professional reviews, thank you.
"This is by far the best review of this monitor available period...! "
Yes I probably misspoke. They’re the first gaming g-sync ultrawides with high refresh rates that have a 1600p.
Great review, super detailed
The height being not enough was the reason I ordered the LG and not the Samsung. I saw the G9 and instantly thought it was not high enough to work on it.
They are different monitors! You are confusing people! The GL is an OLDER hdr 400 model. The GN is a newer model with hdr 600.
Despite common misconception LFC is not an AMD feature, it is a standard and NVIDIA applies it as well.
Thanks by the video boss! i was looking a video like this to take a choice. :)
Very nice review. Can you disable local dimming in HDR mode as well?
I want 3840x1600p but without the extra height, I would rather want a higher pixel density than more screen personally.
What monitor with a higher pixel density do you like? I agree
I've been following your videos on the recent LG 38 line-up. Good stuff, thank you. I've noticed the image is noticeably darker when overclock mode is enabled my 38GN950. Have you experienced this at all?
@@onebitwonder nice tip thx
Here in Europe we have the Acer Predator X38. This seems to have the edge over the LG monitors for gaming. Shame you couldn't get your hands on one.
10 bit color actually makes a pretty big difference in HDR. Non hdr though it's not a big deal.
Good work. Not much has been said about the GN model
Great video, thanks. I have a 34GK950 at the moment & the IPS glow is terrible. Any issues with this one please? Cheers.
i want to get one of these but the IPS panel kind of puts me off, i've had two IPS monitors in the past and the glow was terrible on both of them
IPS glow is massive on 38 GL version.

Hey Stan, awesome vid - just liked and subbed.
LG 34GN850-b

no
I had a 38GL950 and though the fan was quiet it had enough noise to bother me when my room was silent. Like I had a case of tinitus. I then went with a 38GN950 and found a single stuck pixel. Currently waiting on a replacement and hopefully it won't have any issues.
So what are your impressions from 38GN950-B regarding overdrive overshoots (in what mode and at what fps have you tested it?)
and what is the gamut out of the box (and did you calibrate it further?)
Thanks!
Thank you so much for this review! It really helped me out a lot on my decision!
Keep up the great work! =)
Hello, did you choose this one? And if yes what do you think about this one? Thanks 😁
That pendulum demo was the original g-sync demo proving the technology.
@@SuprUsrStan Thanks. I'm going try it out tomorrow.
Hi which would you prefer? The LG 38GN950 or LG OLED48CXPUB for gaming? Thanks
Only Con I see is no ability to overclock to 160hz and no RGB sphere light bar for ambient light show.
im planning to get an rtx 3080, what monitor of these 2 do you reccomand?
@@Domeyn thanks for the answer! I will remember this when time for new monitor comes!
definitely the gn. its the newer version with better hdr. you dont really need the gsync module anyway and the 175hz is a useless gimmick
@@MrSimon1909 bought the 34GN850 last month. That's a damn good monitor. Careless about theh hdr, wich is surprisingly good enough!
The 'extras' provided by the GL just don't justify the premium. However, I'm actually looking at the 27GN950 instead.
I need the R1000 curve for my flight sim!
thank you so much for a good review
What about 38GN95B-B vs 38GN950-B? Those seem to have exact same specs. They look a bit different and price is a bit different as well. Really hard to find any info.
Great review. BTW I too have always wondered about the height of the display with regards to using spreadsheets or reading PDF documents. What difference does it make with pixels rather than size (height). Wouldn’t a bigger monitor like the Samsung’s 49 inch have taller height? Hence more page to see than than a 38 inch one?
The samsung 49" has 1080 vertical pixels. This one has 1600 pixels. You should get 50% more vertical spreadsheet rows using this monitor.
Practically the same monitors apart from the HDR 400 being 600 on the N. Both brilliant monitors
Hello. I have had the same screen for over 3 months now. Today I noticed that at the bottom of the right side of the screen there are several bubbles lying in the screen. Do you have any idea what it could be?
now that the x38 is available in the US market would you consider getting that vs this?
Great review! Thank you
Have they announced a new replacement for this panel yet with CES going on I never know when is a good time to buy !
Do you have any idea what this monitor is going to settle for in price in a few months? Availability seems low so it's jumping around a lot.
Hi please would still recommend the displays in your view , I have a 3900x and a strix 2080ti , my old monitor died had it three years it was would I noticed the difference on the LG I missed 4k in games thanks
Hi, video well done, I wanted to know if with the 38GN you have flickering problems related to Freesync or compatible Gsync.
Gsync compatible with 1080ti i think there will be no problem (nvidia)
Would have been good to see the mounting and space required.
This vs Dell AW3821W, which one better?

no reason to make compromises when paying these prices.
