I wanted to get this 38 inch ultrawide since I've first seen it at CES 2019. But the price is so ridiculous, so absurd that I STILL cannot get over it and will not buy it until it's much more reasonable. It goes for 2k EUR here in Europe and the price is not dropping at all, at least the 34GK950G dropped a lot in price in the first few months after release. And the worst part is that you would have to upgrade your GPU to at least a 2080 Super or better 2080 TI to get some decent FPS on this monster resolution.

Great video, I own this monitor and have it posted on my channel, I loved seeing your perspective as it came months after it was an option, far too many reviews just rushed out. You pretty much touched on all of the reality points, I purchased because I was looking for an upgrade from my original run of the Predator X34, outside of that, any person that has just jumped into Ultrawide monitors doesn’t need to look on to this, the refresh rate trade off isn’t worth it, and I equally feel that 120Hz is the sweet spot. One thing I would like to point out, because of the strange resolution of this monitor, I’ve had some inconsistencies with using it within my dual PC setup, depending on the source I’m looking to capture on my second PC while gaming on this one, I’ve ran into intermittent black screen issues on the streaming/recording side, this was never an issue running at native 3440 x 1440. But I love the monitor, been rocking it since January.

I went from a tn 24 inch 144hz and EVERYTHING is better. Motion blur and ghosting is nonexistent. Colour is amazing.
I was afraid that the dpi would be to low for me. I sit 60-80 cm (2 - 2 1/2 feet) from the tv. But the pixel substructure is a lot better then my old TN so even though the dpi is lower the perceived resolution is higher.
      Regarding 48 vs 55 inch

Not gonna lie, but i think 144 or even 120 is still the better choice, because you dont javr to Deal with any problems with overclocking (rly rare but somrtimes it's weird).
Also you probably, dont notice a difference especially between 144 and 160hz.
Not talking about the fact that 160fps is rly hard to Push and substain.
Drops would feel a bit better on 144 vs 160 hz

I was in Micro Center the other day trying to decide what monitor I wanted to upgrade my 60hz Predator x34 with, and they had 10 of them in stock. When I went back the next day to pick one up (after doing a ton of research), there were only 8 left. So they sold THREE of these in one weekend. What sealed the deal for me was that they're the only company making a 38" wide-screen gaming monitor as of this posting. I will be using this while working from home and for gaming, and the 38" gives you the same height as a standard 27" monitor. So it's truly the best of both worlds. Of course the gaming features are nice for the weekends.

I have the same panel I think I ordererd mine sometime back in december when it first launched. I got it from best buy. I still have it and love it till this day definitely super satisfied with it. I bought it as an addition to the system I was currently building around a 3950x 2080 tix2 set up. Was upgrading from an entirely different set up I built years back was like a 6700k/gtx 1080 on a Free Sync 100hz acer panel ultra wide. Was a VA panel at that. Major difference to me, VA panel had ghosting and the difference between 100hz and 144 is like night and day. I actually just ordered that mount arm you linked too, been looking for a solid one but was unsure on it.

Excellent discussion. As someone who recently moved to a 32:9 monitor:
I find utilizing a 21:9 game window is far better for gaming.
however, the 49" diagonal of 32:9 displays I have found to be invaluable outside of gaming. Multi-tasking with voice comms open beside the game window, viewing resource monitor's, cross-referencing multiple PDF's, navigating various multiple MS Office applications; the ability to display multiple application across such a wide display cannot be beat. Regardless of the specs the hardware delivers.
Simply, I adore the 32:9 for what it does to workflows in addition (and outside of) how I use the monitor to game

@Wingnutt 1 depends how you look at it, i think you're pushing less pixels because you lose the vertical height of the panel. Let's say it's a 16:9 1080p panel it's now 1920x800p instead of 1920x1080p.

@2:06 Jay, you mentioned it was a 3440x1600 and commented about being slightly off from the 21:9 aspect ratio. On LG's site, the screen is listed as having a resolution of 3840x1600 which still fits within the 21:9 aspect ration even though it's more pixels than the typical "1440p" resolutions. Just thought I'd throw that out there as I'm also a fan of the 21:9 Ultra Wide monitors. I game on the Asus XG35V 35" 21:9 3440x1440 at 100Hz and love the experience. Love the videos Jay!
