Great honest review on the INKBIRD ISC-027BW SMOKE CONTROLLER.
I bought this controller with my own money to try out so you get a honest review, plus it is being given away to one of our subscribers!
Not forgetting the Village Butchers who supplied me with fantastic meat as always! Thanks guys!

Thanks for the informative review, Mark. I do love the Inkbird stuff, and have to say this looks game changing! 👏
Thanks for the review., looks great
I purchased the Inkbird IHT-2PB after watching your review, trouble is I now need extra probes as I'm cooking more 👍
Keep the good work up
Looks great.
Nice review, looks like an interesting bit of kit.
Thanks for posting this. I'm having a little trouble getting either of the two adapters holding as secure as I'd like with my Kettle Joe so the close-up of the adapter with that metal clip may be my ticket to getting it secure.
Nice work Mark
Thanks mate 😁
Nice review. I bought one from Alliexpress... Circa £120. Attached it to my Pro Q Frontier bullet smoker. Ready for my Xmas, day smoke. ❤
Thanks for the helpful video! 2:50 was what I needed ❤
Great lookling pice of kit 👌
Read conflicting reviews on this, hopefully inkbird fixes a few niggles it's got with the firmware updates. Would still love to try it but would need to come up with an adapter for WSK.
Yes I do agree it is limited to certain bbq's and some need adapting! I would say that, that is my only gripe with it.
@@BBQ-UK bbqguru adaptor fits. It's a fairly simple adaptor that I wish they included in the box
Thanks for the review! Interested in getting this… did you use the previous iteration? Do you know how they have improved it?
I did not have the previous iteration, wish I did so I could compare them together.
This is more aimed for the kamado style front vents but it can be adapted to kettle styles.
You can get hold of INKBIRD on Facebook now, so I would suggest given them a shout.
Sorry I can't help any further. 😊
Great review Mark, I’ve seen this going live with updates from Inkbird so really appreciated you going in depth and giving an honest opinion on it, is it difficult to calibrate, I mean are there instructions to do so with the package? Great timing by inkbird seeing as Kamado Joe let there Ikamand system die a death for everyone, hopefully this will wipe the floor with there system and become another bestseller for Inkbird 🤞🏻 oh and I also found the village butcher online just in time for my daughter’s birthday celebration, I’m at this moment smoking a 6kg turkey crown to be followed by a 4kg Boston butt both from the village butcher online and like you said incredibly good value and service and I was even able to name my delivery day as I was away on holiday when I ordered from them, like you say another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ find 👍🏻
Thank you for your input and support! Calibration is easy to do, no instructions on how but if you have done this before then it is easy.
I have not used the KJ one before so I can not judge but I will say that this unit does the job. My Flame Boss that I have had for a long time, cost me a lot of money, double to the price of the INKBIRD one. The Flame Boss is superior but you have to dig really deep into your pockets to buy one!
Something simple, light, and affordable, that is what the INKBIRD is.
I hope this helps ☺
Village Butchers are like I say, " Second to none! " So glad I came across them, I just wish others will watch the video and follow the link to their great site.
I’m so surprised also Mark , I check in regularly to see if there’s more useful information you’ve uploaded to the channel
Well I can not believe it and I'm sure you can not either Simon! YOU WON AGAIN! I think the random picker loves you! 🤣😂 Well done and it will be sent to you ASAP!
Details of the win is on our main Facebook page.
Hi I’ve just picked one of these up. How do you recommend calibrating the unit?
how does the open lid work ? what will happen we the lid is open and temp goes down.?
I found that this function is not reliable similar to all others.
The open lid function can fail like my flameboss does, so I would not rely on it.
The reason for the lid open cut off is purely for safety and fuel consumption, so when it is activated it will not restart the fan even if the temp has dropped.
I would rather have that function than letting it get the fuel too hot and ruining the cook.
I hope this helps and please, if you have any more questions then fire away and I will getback to you as soon as I can 😃
Who was the lucky recipient of this bit of kit? Well done to whoever is was awarded it 👍🏻
Last day today Simon, and yep good luck to the ones who commented on here.
I have this controller for 2 days now and i noticed that when i open the lid the fan is still blowing at 100% even if the temperature dropped 40 degrees. I turned it once in the app so do you have the same issue?
Sorry for the delay, Yes I did and I am sorry I did not include that in the video, I must of left that part out when editing! DOH!
I do not reckon much on the lid feature but that is one thing I did put across to them and so hopefully they are working on a fix/update.
If you contact INKBIRD and stress your concerns, they will listen and the more who mention this, the better.
I did turn off the fan in the app when I new I was going to leave the lid up for a longer period of time, ie: taking the meat out and wrapping and then putting it back in. Otherwise I ignored it as it was not a major concern. But you are right! that can be annoying.
Thanks for your feedback and I will of course put this across to them next week.
I must add this to it, My Flame boss does the opposite, it detects the lid open and the fan shuts off, when you put the lid down, it will not start up again!! Sometimes I have to reboot it and start the cook all over again. I've not yet come across a controller that works 100% on the lid action.
Oh oke well ive send them a email and they said they will forward the problem to technical service to figure it out.
For now i do it by hand cause the rest works fine for me
Today I got a reply from them that they fixed the known bugs in the 1.02 firmware. Can anyone confirm this?
Hi there. Can I ask is it easy to remove the plate? I've just realised I'll need access to to the grate on the Kamado Jo Junior to get to the spent ash? I'm guessing you can remove it or does it need.ti be fixed permanently. Thanks Adam
The small plate that comes with it, will easily remove from the KJ inlet.
There is no permanent fixing with this controller.
Hope this helps.
@@BBQ-UK cheers. If I leave the plare in I'm guessing there is enough gap when the vent is fully open to scrape the ash ?.would be handy if so....
@@swimadamswim yes there is, but if you find it getting in the way then it is a simple slide off.
Remember that you need to remove to close the door completely so you shut down the coals.
It might close with the clip there? That you will need to try as I did not as I like to pack it all away when finished 😊
@@BBQ-UK arr yes if course. My old BBQ guru had a rubber player cap. Need to try and find one
@@swimadamswim the smoke controller comes with a rubber cap ( I totally forgot about that) that you can use, I am old school so I just remove it all.
Does the fan auto start if the temperature drops below target?
Yes it does, there may be a difference in degrees but it normally kicks in and brings it back up to temp. Hope this helps.
Thank you Mark, I was looking for a review of the Inkbird and this fitted well. The fact you were gifting it means you didnt find it game changing?
