    a good point about the lid open thing, they either need to do a software update - should be possible to code something like "if temp drops so fast over such a period of time, then it is not a stall, it is the lid open" or just give us a manual override button to stop device from panicking

  • @TinoushGTR

    Nice vid. Also nice Kamado I have the exact same one except I have a woven metal seal between the lid. For troubleshooting if you can't get the device's fan to turn on from the main page make sure you have not selected the control time on in the temperature set up window.

  • @toosas
    @toosas 2 года назад +1

    I think you want alert 10 or so degrees above your target temp so you know the fire is running away, there is no point to alert that it is keeping the right temp :) I have some experience wiht inkbird and the most annoying thing about it is those stupid alerts stacking on top of each other the point where the phone is unusable sometimes. fewer alerts = better. I have ordered this for my kamado as keeping it in the low 190s is tricky for low and slow long cooks, I can maintain ~250F no probs but thats a bit too fast for a low and slow brisket overnight etc. Should be coming tomorrow. Good video all in all!

    Good quality hardware and nicely designed software but they don't work together well, e.g. with a full basket of charcoal, temp never got to 350 and the fan was at 19 (out of 100). The pit temp and fan kept going down. Another case, target temp was hit but fan was at 100 and pit temp kept going up passed 30 degrees before I shut it off. Buyer beware.

      It's really good. You just need to let your vents bearly open. If you have too much air, it will overshoot. Once you figure out the vents, it will stay in the range you set it.

    • @5StarGarage
      @5StarGarage  Год назад

      Hmm make sure it's in auto. There is also a manual mode where you turn on your fan at your own speed. You could try manual just to confirm fan works. But in auto if it drops even 2° the fan should kick on.

    • @sizzlewithrhizzle3193

      @@5StarGarage so it’s brand new. The fan was working in auto mode. I unplugged the two temp probes to switch them cause I had them reversed in the wrong ports for grill clip (ambient) and meat probe. As soon as I unplugged the temp prob the fan stopped. And hasn’t turned back on. It had gotten into manual mode. Still couldn’t get the fan on. But I also got it back in BBQ mode (auto) and still no fan. It had fallen to 264 while fiddling on a 325 setting and no fan. Even pressing the controller actually knob button and setting the fan up still no fan. No fan at all.

      I have one coming for the weekend. I would like to cook through the night without the beep..

    • @5StarGarage
      @5StarGarage  2 года назад +2

      So the beeping is set on your max temperature. So you set your bbq temp, let's say 250° you want to set your "highest temperature" where you want it to beep and notify you it's getting too hot. Like 260° I want it to tell me to adjust. If you are using a Egg style pit the top breather just needs to be a thin small crack opening, anything bigger the machine will most likely over shoot cause it has too much air. Congrats on the purchase. I am putting on a brisket right now. I'll shoot a quick vid in the morning on a update.

      Yes if you open the fan goes 100. You can pause it but that turns off the temp screen. I usually unplug the hose before I open and let the temp equalize before connecting again. It's a flaw but I think the pros out way the cons. If you have trouble with Temps close your vent more. I just have mine open a hair. Hope this helps!
