One of the MANY things that's cool about Schenker's playing is that his improv is as seamless as his his "set" solos (those on the recordings). When most guitarists - even the best ones - do improv you can hear the difference. But when Mike does it the playing flows just as if he'd been playing the lick that way for years. Amazing.

He has the same name as the keyboards 🤣 Moog Synthesiser, Seems like the keys on this rock out with the rhythm same as the guitar… then after Phil tells it like it is … Shenker & the instrumental crescendo , they even have a name for that , right a title I have to look up again , Shenker screams on Guitar like McCafferty screams on Love Hurts or something similar Sounds like Frank Sinatra , huh … Earlier I was thinking about the decline of Ted Nugent … Took me awhile to accept how good the Scorpions are cause I still wanted hear UFO , trying to think who was Scorps singer …
I love UFO ..Thanks for sharing...I was listening to Strangers in the Night and Obsession all weekend...Schenker plays a mean guitar ...His leads are always melodic and in time...Not bullshit fast leads that don't fit thie song

ok...after watching some of Axe's awesome vidposts over the last week, i have a renewed appreciation for UFO. i mean, i knew they were good, had their albums on vinyl, had MSG on vinyl, etc., but damn... these guys made some of the best hard rock of all time. still, to me, they are a very tasteful band, unlike many metal outfits who are all about excess. that's the difference, really, the restraint while still rocking that mogg has, that schenker has.that's why their tunes still rock.

First song on this supposedly classic rock station, Fleetwood Mac, next, Tom Petty. Then John Couger Melonhead! Queen! It's always the same. These are supposed to be classic rock stations. I just about had a heart attack when the one station played Cross Eyed Mary by Jethro Tull. A U.F.O. song on a classic rock station, ya Right!
The yrs 1975 to 1978 were critical for 80's metal. Michael Schenker laid the foundation and then Eddie Van Halen built the house. There were other contributors in those yrs like Glen Tipton & Randy Rhoads but IMO Schenker and Eddie were the main architects.
The reason Schenker left is cos Phil Mogg punched him over a silly argement. It was over the live recording of lights out. Schenker didn't like his solo on the song selected for strangers in the night. Fuck knows why, its utterly brilliant!

i was fortunate to have seen ufo when they came to texas.They were touring with rush around 1979and i saw them at the colisium in corpus,phill moggs arm was in a cast ,some say he punched a wall instead of hitting micheal during an argument, I think schenker started missing dates during that tour then he left .He almost joined rush but decided to form his own band.ITs really a shame because they were starting to become" big time."with there hit album lights out
