Also some of the people who were in jallianwala Bagh weren't even protesters. They had come with their families to the baisakhi gathering. (Baisakhi is the harvest festival in the Punjab region)
The Sikhs are wonderful people - good natured, compassionate and fearless too when required. I've had the pleasure of several Sikh friends and colleagues. Love them all. Punjabi music and cuisine absolutely rocks too! Great video Karl and Manisha and very thought provoking too.
Totally agree, Amritsar is one of our Favorit Citys in India! Such a nice and peacefull vibe and even as a foureigner you dont have people trying to sell you stuff all the time. We even got free rikshaw drives there. Beat that :D

Hi Karl, I’m from Amritsar but currently living in Christchurch,NZ. I actually grown up in Amritsar and spent my 24 years there. It’s a safe city for tourists but you can find dodgy people everywhere and being a border town we never felt unsafe here. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Amritsar. 😀
I am British and have visited the partition museum and the massacre memorial gardens, both were very deeply upsetting places for a patriotic British person. I have to say though I don't know of that general being rewarded here for what he did, he is a murderer!

Been watching in Australia for a while! My dad and I visited Amritsar February 2018! Loved it! Dehli was the worst place we visited because of the locals who are so rude an arrogant! But we still had a great time. Thankfully my dad speaks 4 languages and being Gujarati it helped!

Not to be that guy but Sikhism never started as a clan. It was when a man born Hindu didn’t believe in the ways of Hinduism and created Sikhism (guru Nanak) He never promoted violence and preached many good thing. But when the fifth guru was martyred, the Sikhs learned martial arts and fighting techniques to only be used to protect people in self defense, which is when they became the warriors they are considered now. That’s why they carry the Kirpan (the dagger/sword) for self defense

I had a wonderful time in Amritsar. The Golden Temple was beautiful and everyone around was so kind. It was a shame how much rubbish was in the street in the Old City even though the temple was spotlessly clean.
