Hi Silvio, the DJI O3 footage looks much better raw and in Premier Pro but on RUclips it was quite poor in comparison. Not sure if I used the right lens profile in Gyroflow I will ask on ther FB page and do some research and see if I can get the best possible solution and try agin in better light. Its getting warmer here we are almost in tee shirt weather 7 degrees c :-)
Glenn, wow, you got lucky there.. You could've lost the whole thing... Great to see you post a video.. Hope to see more videos from you soon.. Take care, Will
Hi Will, yes hardly any damage, I am thinking maybe I should consider some better servos, it would be horrible it that happened at longer range or over the sea.
@@bluefish3607 Ha.. The stock servos are low grade for sure. All the work you put into those elevons, you should invest the same in servos.. But, I'm sure you are seeing that now.. Heck, for $20, you can get a pretty nice servo that is so much more reliable than the Sonic Model stock ones.. That said, I'm still flying with the same crappy stock servos in my AR Wing Pros.. 🙂
Nice update. I'm so glad you got your plane down in one piece. The O3 OSD that the amazing INAV team have pulled off is as good as the limited DJI MSP implementation will allow, perfectly usable but now we are all spoiled by the WTF OSD team's work :D
Hi Caroline, yes its useable but I am really confused why we can't seem to get inav and DJI to communicate and solve the problem. All I hear is complaints that DJI are a terrible company, but nothing progresses through negative thinking. I am going to try and move things forward if I can or at least fully understand the barriers to getting this issue resolved. The plane was amazingly in good shape and glad it was my test plane and not my almost complete new build.
@@bluefish3607 My understanding is that MSP is pretty much just a communication standard but doesn't define the actual capabilities. So INAV supports and expects multiple pages of fonts and DJI only has (currently) a single page - hence the mixed up characters. Just as long as I can get some numbers and an AH, I'm good.
@@Caroline_Tyler I thought that too but assumed that inav, betaflight and ardu had different font items, so in this case DJI would need three variants I guess and probably went for Betaflight as it had the most users and was more drone focused. So it would seem that the best option would be for all FC firmware devs and DJI to get together and build a universal font library for all FC firmware platforms, so everyone can have great OSD with whatever FPV hardware platform and FC firmware they choose.
@@Caroline_Tyler I doubt I I will get out Caroline I do a 25 mile cycle ride every Sunday and its mothers day and am going out for lunch. There is a small chance I might be able to do a quick setup flight to retune my test plane with replaced servo. Hopefully we will get some more opps to hook up now the weather should be improving. I hope you have a good flight.
Great video. Just making first steps into FPV and have Googles 2 and o3 Air unit on the way for a new build. You obviously have two versions of your videos one with OSD and one without. Is this something you can do in post? Just wondering how this works? I'm aware the googles can record as well so all a bit confusing.
Hi the DJI O3 camera records its footage simultaneously to the air unit in 4K and also to the Goggles SD Card. I use Inav on my flight controllers which provides a programmable on screen display which is recorded by the goggles and I see this while flying.
@@alantoseland6629 If the snow settles in Lincolnshire and we get a light wind day I am looking forward to balsting over the white fields as never done that before.
I am glad that there was not too much damage and that you were able to repair it, I have a question, I will also install a unit 03 air in one of my wings, how did you lengthen the cable to the TX and RX? Have you found a compatible connector or simply welded the end to end cables and added thermoretric sheaths? Thank you for your help
I just extended the cables with solder and sheaths and crimped on a JST connector to connect to the pins on the FC. I am incorporating a switch on my new build so I can turn off the power to the O3 when not in flight as they get pretty hot with now airflow.
Greetings from Siberia, my dolekiy friend, I am watching you and I want to come to visit and fly in a place. Keep it up ! You do wonderful reviews. and the weather is almost spring, we still have snow
@@bluefish3607 Yes, of course, come visit me, I have a place where you will spend the night, and here is the Staritsa River where we will launch and fly
I'm no servo expert, but when flying around 150kph on a foam control surface some deflection would likely occur taking some strain away from the servo. A balsa control surface would have the entire surface stiff and straight putting more load on the servo. I'd fork out some $$ on better quality stronger servos at the risk of saving everything else. Your landing approach is sooooo fast too lol. Great flying too! Your videos are one of the reasons I have an AR Pro myself. If you visit Australia, come and fly with us on the coast sometime.
Hi Mark I am looking for some better quality servos, stripped the failed one down and it was the motor that had stopped working. Oh how nice it would be to fly in Oz the weather has been so shitty here for weeks, roll on the summer.
Hi Glenn, nice to see you out flying your new AR Pro' 👌 what is the torque on those servos? do you think it could of been a bad servo or could it have been to much strain from those balsa-wood ailerons? i see you was doing 166kmh 😮 cheers...
Hi Den, thats the old AR Pro test plane, new one not finished yet, servo spec is Stall torque: 2.1kg.cm (4.8v); 2.4kg.cm (6.6V) You got me thinking now about the balsa elevons I must check what voltage I am running them on. First one I have had fail after switching from Emax where I had two fail within 6 months. I was really enjoying the flights until that happened, maybe I should be thinking about some better servos and spend a little more as I do fly the AR pro quite hard.
I think vertical spacebar not assigned for speed or altitude in inav OSD configuration. Not Move up and down, set spacebar left-right to speed or altitude
Why is the DJI O3 image so blurry? I think you zoomed in too much on Gyroflow. A servo malfunction is really bad, as a few times when the ESC overheated and went into protection mode, I was in danger of losing my AR Wing Pro.
Not sure why the DJI O3 footage is so bad on RUclips its much better raw and in Premiere Pro. Maybe I used the wrong lens profile in GyroFlow I used DJI FPV 4K 16:9 3840x2160 official, do you know if that is the right one? I had a few crashes with burned out ESC's in the early days but since I started using plane ESC's instead of drone ESC's and making sure I have plenty of amp draw headroom I have been fine. First TowerPro I have had fail but maybe I need to think about going for some better brands.
Hi, not when the plane is moving but the Air Unit does get extremely hot when not flying. I am fitting an RC power switch so I can control the power to the O3 from a switch on my radio so when on the ground and doing any setup or prep I can turn the O3 off. When I land after flying in 5 deg C air temperature the Air Unit is barely even warm, not sure how it will perform in summer at 25 deg C mind.
Looks like a servo failure as per the last couple of minutes of the video. They are Towerpro MG90D servos, quite cheap at £9 each but metal gear and digital. Not sure if the balsa elevons and my flying style have been too much for them to handle that contrtibuted to the failure so am looking out for some better quality servos, any suggestions?
I'm using the exact same servos in my ar wing pro i have not had any issues but I have ordered some emax 12gr to replace them with since they have alot of miles on then for the last 2 years, I hope I don't regret do this time will tell. Mr D falling with style recommends these during some servos testing video so ill give them a try. Thanks and good luck

Hi. Could you enlighten me on how to wire the O3 to the FC?I have a Matekf411 WTE and am trying to use the Softserials since I ran out of TX/RX ports. Must I connect ALL the cables on DJI O3 in order for MSP display to come on or connecting to just TX to the O3 will suffice? Thanks lots in advance.
