If 4.4 build is done with USE_OSD_SD then you may need to set osd_displayport_device =MSP. This is because the MAX7456 will be used if found. Once HD VTX fully support HD OSD then this will be set automatically. Currently only WTFOS does this.

For those with the Walksnail from new, if you dont have any data in your goggles ref OSD, make sure you have the standard font folder in your google SD card.

Well damn. I have also been getting a massive amount of questions on this specifically like you have said. I pretty much the same video in progress as well. May as well bin that now 😂.
On bf 4.4. I couldn't use the recommended uart for osd as it was on the plug and I wanted to direct solder. So used a different uart pair. Didn't matter what I did I could not get it to work but my walksnail would come out of standby mode when armed. I re-mapped my uart pads to match the fc vtx uarts that didn't work but when I mapped them back to where they were originally it worked. Strange stuff.
I had such an issue with flywoo baby nano 20/f405 1-2s FC because the wire diagram is for analog and BF 4.3 was not being kind. 4.4 and wire the TX to RX instead of VTX on uart 6 did the trick.
My main question is for most of the hardware where can i buy it because at least in germany most of the stuff is sold out always. And its sold out now for many months. Some is available for unrealistically overpriced money.
@@3dmaxers yeah cheap analog would be better and if you adjust the wattage to the minimum needed to run the mission it’s probably harder to triangulate where the operator is than with digital where you can’t really control the power output. JB there is something seriously wrong with BF 4.4 with MSP using DJI(caddx or original air unit)! BF 4.3 was perfect. 2 different Fc and two different air units(caddx and dji air unit) same issue where the OSD may or may not show up. If it does its at 4:3 aspect or SMALLER. Goggles and both air units have latest WTFO firmware, BF 4.4 on both FC (Lumrnier H7 and newbee drone AIO infinity v2). Not needed in 4.4 but can confirm "get display" is set to MSP and "get vcd" is HD. Again CLI commands are not needed in 4.4 and set correct. In the OSD Tab HD is selected and do have the wide screen picture but outputs something smaller than 4:3 if anything at all! Actually if you place OSD options past the vetticle center or horizontal center of the screen it will not render ANYTHING in the goggles... Again all firmware is up to date and everything renders correct in BF4.3. ALSO 4.4 doesn't show dual gyros if your FC has them and can't set the correct orientation of the gps module(matek 5883, flipped 270 degrees.) It keeps reverting to default orientation. Anyone have ANY THOUGHTS.....
Hi, I have the same problem that my OSD only appears in an apparently 4:3 window in my DJI Goggles V2, meaning I have them right in the middle of my 16:9 camera view... All firmwares are up to date, I tried all the options in BF osd (auto, pal, nuts, hd) nothing changes... Any ideas what I can do to move my osd informations to the side of the 16:9 screens?
@beeRacer505 I hadn't been able to resolve it yet. Just to confirm that the wtfo was fine on the goggles and air unit I reverted back to BF4.3 and all was normal again. At this point it's a 4.4 issue. I have 2 caddx and 1 dji air u on bf 4.4 and ALL of them have an issue with the OSD. Again roll back the firmware on the FC and all is well. 4.4 also has other serious bugs involving the gyros and compass orientation

Just noticed a little "bug" in bf 4.4: if i copy my osd settings from one copter to another one, the osd is not showing the right alignment of the elements. Just make sure, you enable 'hd' before you paste the cli, then everything is fine. Just updated 4 of 5 builds to digital, wallsnail, and observed this behavior
HD OSD is working well for me; rooted Goggles V2 and Vista in the Evoque F6X. But.. The OSD sometimes remain at 4:3 instead of 16:9. Sometimes. Not sure why. I’m using Nebula Pro camera if it makes a difference. I’m using the same Nebula Pro and WTFOS in my Mach R5 without the above issues (Beast F7 in the Mach R5 and Blitz Mini stack in the F6X). Not sure if JB or anybody has any insights to why this is happening.
My problems are even worse with BF 4.4 dude. About to make a comment on it... funny it's on the same iflight Mach 5 lol! Osd stuck on 4:3 or even smaller!
@timmytson1 Timmy have reflash both fc firmware several times over the last 24hrs and even WTFO on air units and goggles. Built over 2o drones in the last twelve months. I'm a pretty advanced user. Like Bardwell but prettier and richer lol
I've enabled the HD canvas but now I'm seeing my OSD all jumbled up in the goggles as if it's taking the elements in my HD canvas and squishing them into a 4:3 space even though my goggles are HD 16:9.
I’ve got a lil bug with the rooted dji v2 goggles. When I power on the quad before I power on the goggles the it only shows the top right of the osd. If I power up the goggles then the quad the osd appears properly. Not a big deal but still a weird bug

Has anyone else had osd elements get stacked on top of each other in BF 4.4 hd osd? I lost the rssi dbm for a solid minute until I discovered the default position was BEHIND THE WARNING ELEMENT!!! It would be nice if there was a check that prevents new elements from populating behind active elements. Also actual questions: is there a bug with timers? I have the flight timer on and it shows on the osd tab, but it does not appear in the Hdzero goggle.
Ive got runcam link wasp air unit and v2 goggles, after ive done the wtfos rooting and all of that procedure OSD does not show up. It shows battery % but it does not show the quads voltage at all. The BF OSD pops up on the start up which means my rooting was all good, no luck ive re-tried same procedure still nothing. air unit is on 608 and goggles is 606 firmware also the FC is on 4.4 MSP uart 1 is on and VTX MSP display too are on. Pls help

Struggling with analog OSD on this with 4.4. Can’t move OSD all they way down not to mention they stack on one another after you disconnect from BF and you power on. Everything seems to move again and going back to BF OSD nothing saved.
I tried to put the osd in betaflight and I think I messed something up . The Rx won't connect to the FC so I decided to reset all, the gyro and the MCU were not working. I put the motors protocol and then the FC won't connect to the computer .It doesn't connect to my googles v2 either because I think the Caddx Vista no longer communicates with the FC . I need help please
Another one here with the 4:3 aspect issue once HD is selected. In fact it requires some elements to be placed outside of the BF preview window in order for them to be seen in goggles.
I have the same issue on my air unit, it’s even worst. When I setting up OSD I in the positions they showing up in random places on my googles im Using BF 4.4 v1 googles air unit wots on both devices.
I know it's late but I have a question/ theory. I've just got a new avatar system and the setup went OK, but as soon as I unplug the drone and reconnect later the osd is gone. But if I start like that then go into the speedybee app (I have an f4) then reset the osd comes back! My theory is the avatar system starts slower then the FC and misses that point where the osd is applied but if I soft restart via app the walksnail never powers down and is there for the "handshake" this time....... any thoughts? (UPDATE) Flash/erased the fc seems to be ok now. :s
Running BF 4.3, Caddx Vista & DJI V2 googles. Both rooted and I'm getting a double display of the old clunky and new HD. Tried turning off "custom osd" in the goggles and the hd display vanishes but not the clunky old one. Deleted a few osd elements in BF, power cycled everything and the old clunky osd is stuck on in the googles even tho turned off in BF.
I figured it out. I still had the last RX Uart pin connected as I was originally using that in BF 4.2 for OSD. After upgrading to 4.4 I don't need that. I just removed the pin that DJI uses for HDL. After removing that cable no more blinking BF OSD! Woot Woot!
My FIX for OSD not showing in DJI-V2 after ROOTing + WTFOS + applying latest updates to GogglesV2 + O3 unit, in BF4.4 : After setting up your OSD in BF.... hit save, then go to CLI. Type: set osd_displayport_device = MSP set vcd_video_system = HD save WARNING: The OSD in BF4.4 will revert to a non-HD (4:3) preview upon the next connection to the BF-configurator!!! But, as long as you do not hit the save button on that tab, all your OSD elements will remain the same in your goggles. If, you need to change the elements (on/off OR positioning) just re-type the those 3 lines into CLI, AFTER you re-done them. I hope this works for you as it did for me, and I hope this gets fixed in upcoming BF update.

I have a dji o3 unit and dji goggles 2. I've had to change my osd displayp port serial. It's port 3 so I've changed it to 2 and I've now got osd but now in the osd tab on betaflight since changing it to msp the video format has disappeared which contained AUTO PAL NTSC HD settings. Now I can't select HD? Can anyone please help fix this? Thanks
Most of the time when I boot up it reverts to standard definition and fonts super big. Only sometimes the DJI goggles v2 boots up in HD. Any fix? Thanks man your the best.
I got a "gotyou" catch for you... I'm using the HDzero freestyle vtx, with the HDzero goggle. I have to use the HD video format otherwise I'm loosing too much room on the OSD. But I have to keep setting up the fields on the 3/4 left part of the screen. This is fine too. But the problem is the statistics at the end of a flight. They are displayed too much on the right and I can't see the values of the fields. I only see for example, FLIGHT TIME is just past the middle of the screen, but I see no time displayed. How can I re-center the statistics? Is there a CLI settings for that?

I'm wondering how much a preset is better than a single command, unless someday to upgrade BF we just flash and re-apply the same presets automatically. Btw. why do we have to enter rate profiles each upgrade when the numbers in the UI we input are literally the sames?! I need to check if we cannot migrate them.
I'm getting duplicate OSD elements when I do this. I have a rooted DJI v2 goggles and a rooted Caddx Vista, both with WTFOS installed, and using Betaflight 4.4. I see the Betaflight HD OSD elements in the correct place, but it also puts a duplicate element in a seemingly random place on the screen. Edit: I think the duplicates might be because I didn't turn off "Custom OSD" in the goggles menu. I noticed the duplicate elements seem to only be the limited ones that were compatible with the DJI goggles previously, and they showed up looking slightly different from Betaflight (example: Flight mode saying "ACRO" instead of "ANGLE"). I'm going to try turning off "Custom OSD" and see if that fixes it.
Another awesome video! What is the best method for displaying LQ on the Dji goggles v2 OSD? I'm on betaflight 4.3 and the most current goggles firmware so I don't think I can hack them. I'm just wondering what is the best way to get LQ in my OSD.
Unfortunately didn't worked for me. HDZero Race V2 VTX + GepRC Phantom (Smart25) FC - there is no OSD. UART2 is used by receiver so I used UART1 for VTX. When I set MCP for UART1 in BF (4.3.0) - I have nothing in Video Receiver menu. Whatever I do after save and reboot I have unchecked MCP for UART1. When I set for UART1 only peripheral (VTX + SmartAudio) and MCP off - I have all VTX table and configuration in video receiver menu in BF available but still... no OSD. Of course I don't have SA due to lack of UARTs available. Actually my HDZero VTX is totally useless. BTW when I try to set in CLI - # get osd_displayport_device osd_displayport_device = MSP Allowed values: NONE, AUTO, MAX7456, MSP, FRSKYOSD Default value: AUTO # get displayport_msp_serial displayport_msp_serial = -1 Allowed range: -1 - 40 When I set displayport_msp_serial = 0 - I have nothing in video receiver menu and after save&reboot I get displayport_msp_serial = -1 again. There is no way to save as 0 (uart 1)
Watched all the Video. Going to give up! OSD Waiting and nothing loading. Speedybee F405 Air unit Polar DJI FPV goggles 2 -Updated firmware for both wtffpv drivers -Rooted the system -Downloaded the options -Typed in the CLI code port to "0" -I know the UART port is 1, using direct cable from Airunit to FC Tried UART 1 and 2. Nothing is displaying. Anyone else have this problem? I know the goggles are done correctly as it loads the commands and says OSD waiting. But can't get any data from FC.
Getting a betaflight 4.4 warning vtx table has not been set up correctly and without it vtx control will not be possible. Using DJI goggles 2 with updated caddx firmware for compatibility. Only getting a max of 5-7mbps output from vtx. Any ideas or solutions?

Hi Hello, I'm using dji caddx air unit + Google 2 (not V2). Beta flight 4.4. And nothing in the video worked. But I got it right using a preset on beta flight for dji O3 vtx (even I'm not using that one...) just in case someone else finds the same issue I used what Joshua said to use in BF4. 3 except I'm in BF 4.4...I hope it helps.. (all firmwares were the latest for Google 2 and caddx)

Heyo, I have a nazgul evoque with an IF blitz min F7 flight controller. I'm using with a caddx vista with Goggles 2. Iflight documentation says the vista is using UART 1. Visually confirmed the wiring is using the same plug. I upgraded my blitz firmware to BF 4.4 and enabled MSP and VTX MSP+Display Port on uart 1 but I'm not getting any OSD. I can see battery voltage so something is coming across that UART but I get no BF OSD. Vista and Goggles are on the latest firmware as well. Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone know how it works with soft serial? I have a weird version of the Mamba stack MK2 where I can only access 2 hard serials and one soft serial rx and tx. And Of course I want CRSF, GPS and HD OSD...

Try moving the osd on betaflight while having your goggles on so you can move the icons and see where they move real time to adjust them to fit your goggles

Are you using FakeHD and is your OSD shrunk into 1/3 of the screen in the goggles?

Not a bug. This is a deliberate feature so that all OSD elements will be visible and thus movable on the configurator display.

Is there a bug in BF 4.4 with the O3 air unit and Goggles 2 not showing LQ correctly? My display is curretly showing LQ as 0 : 0
Has anyone else had osd elements get stacked on top of each other in BF 4.4 hd osd? I lost the rssi dbm for a solid minute until I discovered the default position was BEHIND THE WARNING ELEMENT!!! It would be nice if there was a check that prevents new elements from populating behind active elements.
Also actual questions: is there a bug with timers? I have the flight timer on and it shows on the osd tab, but it does not appear in the Hdzero goggle.
If those are stacking and your are using dji goggles v2 make Sure that you disable OSD from your goggles

Why is my wtfos rooted updated air unit on a bf 4.4 copter paired with v2 goggles not showing the hd canvas? I tryied it all over and over
Have yet to put my snail into the air. I did price that the osd seems to be missing.. I need to check the preset again.
Ive got runcam link wasp air unit and v2 goggles, after ive done the wtfos rooting and all of that procedure OSD does not show up. It shows battery % but it does not show the quads voltage at all. The BF OSD pops up on the start up which means my rooting was all good, no luck ive re-tried same procedure still nothing. air unit is on 608 and goggles is 606 firmware also the FC is on 4.4 MSP uart 1 is on and VTX MSP display too are on. Pls help

BUT: I cant select Hd on the Osd tab, I check the HD box and it jumps to PAL, the osd is in this PAL tiny squares and I cant use the full HD space for the OSD

HD canvas option isnt there for me walksnail.
Struggling with analog OSD on this with 4.4. Can’t move OSD all they way down not to mention they stack on one another after you disconnect from BF and you power on. Everything seems to move again and going back to BF OSD nothing saved.
It doesn't work with my goggles 2, do you have a solution?
I tried to put the osd in betaflight and I think I messed something up . The Rx won't connect to the FC so I decided to reset all, the gyro and the MCU were not working. I put the motors protocol and then the FC won't connect to the computer .It doesn't connect to my googles v2 either because I think the Caddx Vista no longer communicates with the FC . I need help please
Another one here with the 4:3 aspect issue once HD is selected. In fact it requires some elements to be placed outside of the BF preview window in order for them to be seen in goggles.
I'm going to assume you're on the O3 air unit in which case HD canvas doesn't work yet.

I have the same issue on my air unit, it’s even worst. When I setting up OSD I in the positions they showing up in random places on my googles im Using BF 4.4 v1 googles air unit wots on both devices.
@@Flying_Wild_Boar recheck you've got the correct uart selected for the vtx. The update weirdly altered my ports tab and I hadn't noticed it

I know it's late but I have a question/ theory. I've just got a new avatar system and the setup went OK, but as soon as I unplug the drone and reconnect later the osd is gone.
But if I start like that then go into the speedybee app (I have an f4) then reset the osd comes back!
My theory is the avatar system starts slower then the FC and misses that point where the osd is applied but if I soft restart via app the walksnail never powers down and is there for the "handshake" this time....... any thoughts?
(UPDATE) Flash/erased the fc seems to be ok now. :s
Running BF 4.3, Caddx Vista & DJI V2 googles. Both rooted and I'm getting a double display of the old clunky and new HD. Tried turning off "custom osd" in the goggles and the hd display vanishes but not the clunky old one. Deleted a few osd elements in BF, power cycled everything and the old clunky osd is stuck on in the googles even tho turned off in BF.
Something to note, the CLI commands did not work on beta flight 4.2.
Correct. BF 4.2 did not support MSP Displayport at all.

Yes if using Vista with v2 goggles you need to root.

That option is exclusive to 4.4

I figured it out. I still had the last RX Uart pin connected as I was originally using that in BF 4.2 for OSD. After upgrading to 4.4 I don't need that. I just removed the pin that DJI uses for HDL. After removing that cable no more blinking BF OSD! Woot Woot!
My FIX for OSD not showing in DJI-V2 after ROOTing + WTFOS + applying latest updates to GogglesV2 + O3 unit, in BF4.4 :
After setting up your OSD in BF.... hit save, then go to CLI.
Type:
set osd_displayport_device = MSP
set vcd_video_system = HD
save
WARNING: The OSD in BF4.4 will revert to a non-HD (4:3) preview upon the next connection to the BF-configurator!!! But, as long as you do not hit the save button on that tab, all your OSD elements will remain the same in your goggles. If, you need to change the elements (on/off OR positioning) just re-type the those 3 lines into CLI, AFTER you re-done them.
I hope this works for you as it did for me, and I hope this gets fixed in upcoming BF update.

I have a dji o3 unit and dji goggles 2. I've had to change my osd displayp port serial. It's port 3 so I've changed it to 2 and I've now got osd but now in the osd tab on betaflight since changing it to msp the video format has disappeared which contained AUTO PAL NTSC HD settings. Now I can't select HD? Can anyone please help fix this? Thanks

Most of the time when I boot up it reverts to standard definition and fonts super big. Only sometimes the DJI goggles v2 boots up in HD. Any fix? Thanks man your the best.
The Betaflight HD canvas doesn't change the font. Are you using wtfos? Custom font setup for wtfos is outside of Betaflight. It's something separate.
I got a "gotyou" catch for you... I'm using the HDzero freestyle vtx, with the HDzero goggle. I have to use the HD video format otherwise I'm loosing too much room on the OSD. But I have to keep setting up the fields on the 3/4 left part of the screen. This is fine too. But the problem is the statistics at the end of a flight. They are displayed too much on the right and I can't see the values of the fields. I only see for example, FLIGHT TIME is just past the middle of the screen, but I see no time displayed. How can I re-center the statistics? Is there a CLI settings for that?
Yes. You need to set the canvas size correctly.
In CLI type:
set osd_canvas_width = 50
set osd_canvas_height = 18

I'm wondering how much a preset is better than a single command, unless someday to upgrade BF we just flash and re-apply the same presets automatically.
Btw. why do we have to enter rate profiles each upgrade when the numbers in the UI we input are literally the sames?! I need to check if we cannot migrate them.
I'm getting duplicate OSD elements when I do this. I have a rooted DJI v2 goggles and a rooted Caddx Vista, both with WTFOS installed, and using Betaflight 4.4. I see the Betaflight HD OSD elements in the correct place, but it also puts a duplicate element in a seemingly random place on the screen.
Edit: I think the duplicates might be because I didn't turn off "Custom OSD" in the goggles menu. I noticed the duplicate elements seem to only be the limited ones that were compatible with the DJI goggles previously, and they showed up looking slightly different from Betaflight (example: Flight mode saying "ACRO" instead of "ANGLE"). I'm going to try turning off "Custom OSD" and see if that fixes it.

Another awesome video! What is the best method for displaying LQ on the Dji goggles v2 OSD? I'm on betaflight 4.3 and the most current goggles firmware so I don't think I can hack them. I'm just wondering what is the best way to get LQ in my OSD.
Use FPV WTF Butter to roll back firmware. Root goggles. Update firmware. Install wtfos on goggles.

Unfortunately didn't worked for me. HDZero Race V2 VTX + GepRC Phantom (Smart25) FC - there is no OSD. UART2 is used by receiver so I used UART1 for VTX. When I set MCP for UART1 in BF (4.3.0) - I have nothing in Video Receiver menu. Whatever I do after save and reboot I have unchecked MCP for UART1. When I set for UART1 only peripheral (VTX + SmartAudio) and MCP off - I have all VTX table and configuration in video receiver menu in BF available but still... no OSD. Of course I don't have SA due to lack of UARTs available. Actually my HDZero VTX is totally useless. BTW when I try to set in CLI -

When I set displayport_msp_serial = 0 - I have nothing in video receiver menu and after save&reboot I get displayport_msp_serial = -1 again. There is no way to save as 0 (uart 1)
So basically everything works out of the box except with you have DJI stuff ;)

Getting a betaflight 4.4 warning vtx table has not been set up correctly and without it vtx control will not be possible. Using DJI goggles 2 with updated caddx firmware for compatibility. Only getting a max of 5-7mbps output from vtx. Any ideas or solutions?
Vtxtable has no function when using DJI vTX. The warning can be ignored.

V1 and v2 both work the same as long as they're rooted.
What do I need to do to get my OSD items to display to the far edge of my goggles 2? It seems as if they only go to where the 4:3 display would end. Thank you 🤙🏻🏁
Goggles 2 and o3 do not support HD canvas yet. DJI is working on supporting this. For now, use PAL canvas.

Hi Hello, I'm using dji caddx air unit + Google 2 (not V2). Beta flight 4.4. And nothing in the video worked. But I got it right using a preset on beta flight for dji O3 vtx (even I'm not using that one...) just in case someone else finds the same issue I used what Joshua said to use in BF4. 3 except I'm in BF 4.4...I hope it helps.. (all firmwares were the latest for Google 2 and caddx)
Yes, the BF 4.3 steps do not work on 4.4 that is correct.

Heyo, I have a nazgul evoque with an IF blitz min F7 flight controller. I'm using with a caddx vista with Goggles 2. Iflight documentation says the vista is using UART 1. Visually confirmed the wiring is using the same plug. I upgraded my blitz firmware to BF 4.4 and enabled MSP and VTX MSP+Display Port on uart 1 but I'm not getting any OSD. I can see battery voltage so something is coming across that UART but I get no BF OSD. Vista and Goggles are on the latest firmware as well. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you re-done the setup according to 4.4 new procedure? It's shown in this video. Setting up is not the same as in 4.3 any more.
Goggles 2 and a 03 and I get nothing for osd, works on 4.3, not 4.4.

Anyone know how it works with soft serial? I have a weird version of the Mamba stack MK2 where I can only access 2 hard serials and one soft serial rx and tx. And Of course I want CRSF, GPS and HD OSD...

Try moving the osd on betaflight while having your goggles on so you can move the icons and see where they move real time to adjust them to fit your goggles
O3 air unit does not support HD canvas yet. It is being worked on by DJI and will be released in a future firmware update. Use PAL canvas.
