I have to say, I really hate Dell's bloatware that's on the machines but I use Dell's "Dell command update" software and just let it scan the system and pick the most resent drivers for that model of PC/laptop so I don't have to go out to their support page and hunt for anything. The bios updates are included in it as well. Figured I would just mention it cause its actually decent software for getting updates if you're not tech savvy. Thanks Bri! Love the videos and the channel!

Thanks for your video. Thought it would help me to fix a problem, but no... I've an Alienware (Dell) m15 R5 Ryzen Edition. I've been updating the BIOS around 6 or 7 times till I bought it around 18 months ago. But now, everytime I want to update the BIOS from the dedicated file to my PC from Dell website (the same in your video), when I double click on the executable file, an error message shows up after it loaded the file and says "ESP disk space not enough" and then closes the process ! So no more BIOS updates for me for this reason... Do you know how to fix that ? Thank you for your time anyway !

you might have to check the RAM QVL for that optiplex. All motherboards have a RAM qualified vendors list. It's a list of RAM that has been tested and proven to work with that specific motherboard. Also some motherboards are VERY strict when it comes to speeds and won't automatically change the speed or allow you to manually change the speed. I had that problem on my HP ProBook G4. I tried installing ddr4 3200 RAM but it only supports up to 2666 and the RAM wouldn't work at all and it wouldn't let me change the RAM speed.

Well I won't use windows and I'm getting a refurbished Optiplex 790 mt variant. So yea I'm really hoping it has been fully updated to the latest but yeah I'm still not exactly finding an answer to this question in case it hasn't been fully updated, does the model I'm getting. allow for just flashing from a fat 32 filesystem USB storage and yes I know it has to be at least 32 gigabytes in size or less so yeah I'll be getting 8 gig ones as well. Yes, I'm a Linux user but do have a preference for BIOS being updated in the more correct way versus the microcode updates. Unetbootin seems to not work for many and I'm hesitant to even try that with my live USB Linux disk. So I'm just really hoping that it can updated through USB storage option within the BIOS. Yes the the 790 I'm getting has no hard drives, but I have 2 working ones already so once I'm sure that the BIOS is fully updated, I'll then install those 2 HDDs then install Linux. Can anyone help answer my question please. Thanks.

How do I update the BIOS of my Dell latitude E5470.
Currently the BIOS version is 1.22.3 installed on 2/17/2020.
The latest BIOS for update is of version 1.33.3 which is released on 09 Nov 2022.
Should I install this update or do I upgrade one step at a time as there are many versions available before the current latest version.
My question or consern is can I skip all the updates and directly install the latest BIOS version.
There are 9 BIOS version available before the latest 09 Nov 2022 version.
So I am confused as how to go about installing these BIOS updates.

My DELL Inspiron 3511 came with Windows 11 installed, which promptly updated automatically when connected to the Internet. Then the DELL BIOS did the same, and again a few months later. My feeling is, neither Windows 11 nor the DELL BIOS have reached a desirable state of stability. Do you ever have to update the firmware in your car?

that's normal for almost every motherboard on the market. I have an ROG Strix B550 mobo and they release a BIOS update about every 3 or 4 months. Regarding the chipset it is usually recommended that you also update your mobo's chipset when you do a BIOS update, they kind of go hand in hand. Most people don't have to update the firmware in their car because it does it automatically, you just don't know it's happening because it's installing in the background. Infact I bet in 10yrs, with how vehicles are getting more and more electronics, every single car on the road will be getting regular firmware updates and that's when the robots/AI will take over...

I never usually update a mobo bios via the OS, I usually do it via a flashdrive and through the bios, but one day I saw MSI Center could update my mobo bios through the OS and decided to try it. It basically soft bricked my mobo. I just had a black screen for an hour until I finally said screw this, unplugged my system, downloaded the bios update on my laptop to a flash drive and used the bios flashback button on the back of my mobo. Thankfully that worked but for that entire hour with the blackscreen I felt like i was gonna crap my pants lol.

DUDE WE'RE GETT'N A DELL!!! lol, I just purchased a used optiplex 3070 SFF last night off ebay for my mom. Her current pc doesn't support Windows 11 and I can't upgrade the cpu in it (the mobo only supports up to an i5-6500 which also isn't compatible with W11). This Optiplex I got has an i5-9500 and 8GB of RAM with a measly 128GB SSD. I already ordered a 512GB M.2 NVME drive, and a 16GB (2x8GB) kit of RAM. I only paid $100 for the Optiplex and then $50 for the RAM and NVME drive togther so the entire PC is only costing me $170 after tax and shipping. If I were to build my mom a PC with the exact same specs it would have ended up costing almost $300+. One of the first thing's I plan on doing after installing the new RAM and cloning the sdd to the NVME drive is updating the BIOS. As you said it's cool that you are able to do it within Windows and not have to mess around with the BIOS in order to update it. Wish me luck, the Optiplex arrives in 2 days, hopefully it doesn't blow up in a week lol, thankfully the seller accepts returns though just incase.

What's your make and model. Oh and don't let Linux people hear you say Linux broke your system, because it never breaks in their eyes lol

@@Britec09 when I get to the office, I will let you know the model, TL;DR had to source a 20 year old PS/2 Keyboard for the Dell Vulcan nerve pinch (power+CTRL+ESC) because none of the USB ports got initialized with the early loader for the recovery process, tried them all 1 by 1, was bricked until the PS/2...never throw away anything. my IT collogues decided PC was toasted but I recovered eventually.
...Fedora 36 simply did its thing fully automatic, and the pc never recovered from the reboot...yellow code blinking
