The matching of vowels is even more impressive when you consider that you have two Minnesotans (Adam and Rob), a Texan (Tim), a Georgian (Austin), and a guy from Alabama (Chance). Getting three southern dialects to blend with two Yankees is a feat unto itself.
The harmonies are so precise and flawless, fantastic. Home Free has the richest harmonies of any band I've ever heard - this is no longer acapella, this is voice painting....
Dude, I am convinced you could pick a song by throwing a dart at their discography and never be disappointed. These guys are simply a blessing to the ear.
Many have considered this HF's gold standard of A Capella performances for purity and perfection with their 5 part harmonies, until Brothers in Arms, which is a masterpiece.
They are so in tune and in sync with each other they are able to sound like one person so much its scary. And the harmonies... Its unbelievable how just 5 people can sound like an actual huge church pipe organ.
Go back and listen again and notice the sustain Tim does. Up until Brothers in Arms I thought this was Home Free's best harmony, now I cant say for sure which has the best harmonies either one is great and both are a master class on how to to harmony. Pure ear candy
I grew up listening to CSN & had their album with this song Helplessly Hoping. Absolutely loved them & their harmonies. But I must say since I discovered Home Free they more than do justice to all the songs they cover. And this song is perfection to me with the 5 part harmonies. I can't say enough about how great these guys are & humble while still staying respectful to the original song.
I love when they’re coming to the end of the song and Tim holds that low note forever; it sounds just like a bagpipe drone. Another 5 part harmony is “I Can’t Outrun You “, Chance lead. It’s gorgeous.
This is the 1st example of just how good these guys are !!! This is why so many of us are so very much into this group...THEY ARE SPECIAL !!! Chance was supposedly the driving force behind this, so kudo's to him !!
I have to remember not to drink liquids while watching your videos. That's twice now I darn near choked. Other really good ones for harmonies if you haven't gotten to them yet are How Great Thou Art and One Man Band and Seven Bridges Road. Thanks as usual for a great reaction.
This just shows how fantastically good they are. I recently, by accident, listened to a video of Home Free and every once since then just gets better and better.
Dude. Tim's bass riding underneath it all is ridiculous. This is one of my all time favorite Home Free covers. CSN was brilliant and this cover completely does them justice.
Told ya! It’s one of my favorites because of what you said…their harmonies, their cutoffs. The blending is so good. Home Free just does harmonies so well. At Christmastime, check out Auld Lang Syne by them. Love this and loved your reaction Chris1
The original is short, too. The harmonies are similar to Crosby, Stills, and Nash, but with added bass. This was Chance's idea -- video and song -- and it is pure perfection.
Holy harmonies, a is what I usually say about this one. Although, I usually say that about most Home Free songs, but with this one I always say it! 😁🤣 Thanks for the reaction! 🥰🙏
This is a song originally done by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. I never thought anyone else could do justice to it but these guys took it over the top. Amazing. 🌺✌️
This is a masterclass in 5 part harmony. And then you have Brothers In Arms. Simply magnificent and both Helplessly Hoping and Brothers In Arms are masterpieces and the gold standards for acapella groups.
When people react to Home Free someone like me often warns them to steer clear of their cover of Mayday by CAM until they've been exposed to enough to know a bit about what each member brings to the table. Their cover of Mayday has a surprise that goes right over the heads of people new to the group. I believe you are ready. I think you know enough about them to where you'll be appropriately shocked. Enjoy, even not considering the surprise its an amazing song.
This is literally Home Free's masterpiece, and showcases the difference between talent and skill. Talent is innate, but skill is talent honed by time spent working with that talent. The harmonies aren't that tight and the timing that precise without a lot of work.
There was a moment there where I swear your eyes rolled back in your head. Lol. This is one of my favorite songs of Home Free, for all the reasons you mentioned. Love your reactions.
@@creativecrewfam I work as a food steward at a minimum security prison. One day I dropped a wrapped tray upside down on the floor and I said 'SUGAR!!' The guys that I supervise got a kick out of that. I try to shine a Light at work and God is good.
@@creativecrewfam My kids, grandkids, and now great-grandkids have always teased me for saying Sugar! I'm happy to see I am not the only one to do it. :)
Great reaction -- multiple biscuits and a frickety frick frack, was it? You're the best at explaining how they stay together and give us that wall of sound!!
It is rare for a cover to exceed the beauty of the original. But Home Free has a knack for it. Their cover of When a Man Loves a Woman is another example of their prowess of excellence.
What continues to blow my mind is the fact that Home Free has 1.3 million subscribers on RUclips. Nonsense videos on Tik Tok have nearly 40 million. There must be so many views of HomeFree videos who don’t subscribe.
New to your channel! Saw the title and had to watch! It’s one of my favorites from Home Free! It’s beautifully done! Loved your reaction! I’ve subscribed!
I think you'd enjoy "What We Ain't Got" and a "Story Time with Tim" where he talks about singing that song the previous night. An audience member posted a video of the performance he's referring to - it's called "Home Free Oxygen". Again, the whole first verse is song solo (by Tim Foust) with no vocal backup.
Yes please! I can't even begin to express how very beautiful it is! I'm not being dramatic, I just want you to hear it because I I love it so and want you to feel the love and beauty that his voice brings! ♥️
Loved your reaction. Grew up listening to Crosby, Stills and Nash. CSN are off key on so many songs (Nash) including the recording of this one. (Just my opinion, folks.) I couldn’t believed the difference. Home Free nailed it. Beautiful.
Ooooh, you're a harmony hound, just like me! In that case I have 2 specific recommendations along similar lines of intricate choral harmonies. Pentatonix's Run to You, it's an original and it's stunning! The other is a composition by Eric Whitacre(not sure if you're familiar with him, he's a rock star imho!) called A Boy And A Girl, with a crazy amount of voices, all tracks sung by Peter Hollens and his wife Evynne Hollens. It's absolutely lovely. Thank you for your channel and reactions, I'm very much enjoying them! 🥰💖
Thanks for watching and commenting! I’ll have to check those out, but I’m VERY familiar with Eric Whiticare. Actually just did a reaction to Voces8 singing that one…hopefully posting soon. I’m glad you are enjoying my videos! :)
@@creativecrewfam Being a part of his Virtual Choir last year was such a joy! I'm glad you know him, I kinda thought you might, given your scope of knowledge. 😉 Keep up the good work!!
This cover makes me appreciate the Crosby Still and Nash original all the more. Their harmonies are completely humanly produced. Saw them live, with Neil Young, in 1970.
The matching of vowels is even more impressive when you consider that you have two Minnesotans (Adam and Rob), a Texan (Tim), a Georgian (Austin), and a guy from Alabama (Chance). Getting three southern dialects to blend with two Yankees is a feat unto itself.
Very true indeed!
Three very different Southern accents at that.
Tim lived in Boston
For a few years that can mess people up lol
Did someone say Yankee? Where's the New Yorker?
😂😂
Chris this is by far THE BEST reaction to this masterpiece. You had me in stitches with your personality.
Haha thanks for watching!! I’m glad you enjoyed :)
The harmonies are so precise and flawless, fantastic. Home Free has the richest harmonies of any band I've ever heard - this is no longer acapella, this is voice painting....
'Voice painting'. Nice observation.
Dude, I am convinced you could pick a song by throwing a dart at their discography and never be disappointed. These guys are simply a blessing to the ear.
"That's it?" Exactly what I thought the first time I heard it. Too short for such magnificence.
"Frickety Frick Frack!!" Haha, That's exactly what I said! Lol! They sing so tight together and it was as smooth as a lake at dawn.
The things I say even surprise me sometimes! I agree!
He cracks me up with all his eargasms!!! Lol
OHHHH, is right...The blend of the upper range with Tims lower range gives me CHILLS everytime. And Chance starting out, what a beautiful voice!
Until Brothers in Arms this was the song that was a total Eargasm.
Got to love Timothy adding that little bit of bass sauce.

Sends shivers up the spine, listening to those tight harmonies. Great analysis as usual.

In the Blood is another great harmony one.
Oh man ! That's one of my favorite performance from them...they never disappoint on anything they sing
I second this! It's my favorite
It’s my absolute favourite! 😍
I love how everyone is always showing the almost physical “need” for it to continue. I'm in that group; every time.
The ability to start and stop together is unreal. So good

This is a cover. The original was by Crosby, Stills and Nash back in my younger days. It's always been a favorite. Home Free performed it beautifully!
A masterclass in 5 part harmony. Shows the masters of talent they have.
Watching him try not to curse is great! He makes up words as he goes along.🐝🤗❤️ This is one of Home Free’s best, in my opinion.🐝🤗❤️
The original is short, too. The harmonies are similar to Crosby, Stills, and Nash, but with added bass. This was Chance's idea -- video and song -- and it is pure perfection.

Thank you for your biscuiting, love you for it. This short vid is very different for me. Vocally and visually stunning it is really a piece of art

They only performed this song a couple times live. I was fortunate to see them do at the Ryman..
In all the reactions I've watched, the ones who really know music always ask is that all? Is it over? No, not yet. 😁
This is definitely a song I wish was longer with them doing it...
