Tim's vocal range is not even human. I've been following HomeFree since Ring of Fire made its rounds on FB and truly his range is on the edge of impossible. Some people may be able to obtain the range but he does so almost effortlessly and with such technical skill that it is simply almost impossible.
Thank you for the reaction to Mayday, and for waiting until you are familiar with them enough to know why Home Fries ask reactors to wait. Perfect to see the appropriate reactions that we were waiting for. Priceless!!!
Home Free is what you have when you have 5 tenors, 5 beat boxers and 2 basses. They are amazing! Nice reaction, as always, thank you!! I'd like you to put 'Winter Song' on your to do list... please? It's one of my favorites.
Oh, we love it when a reactor spots that Tim is staying up high in this one. Even more shocking, a lot of that is still chest voice. Tim was a tenor till pretty late in high school when his voice finally changed, and then he worked really hard to recover/maintain that tenor range. Chance was such a great addition to the group because, while his voice type is baritone, he can still get down in that bass range so Tim can be more flexible in where he's singing. BTW, the original is a female singer, and they're singing this in the same key as her.
haven't even started the video yet I already know Chris is 1. not making past 3 seconds, 2. mind blown 3. he should really keep tissues around tears happen (usually from pure joy) ahhh Chris you really are not ready for this one buddy. I've watched it 25 + times and still get shivers and well up it's just so beautiful
I've watched and re-watched at least a doz. times and still giggle with joy at your reaction. It's exactly what us Home Fries want Chuckle (we aren't really evil we're pretty nice we just really like knowing this happens to everyone)
Please take a look at Do you hear what I hear - with your knowledge about music you will have field day with that one - it is undoubtedly one of their most complicated arrangements (Adam’s work) and completely unique. A true masterpiece. And its a Christmas song!
This is the one we fries call the mind blowing cover and always tell new reactors to hold off with at least until you know their names and have an idea of their range , you talked about Tim being in Austins range if you want to hear Tim give Austin a run for his money you need to check out their original -- Snow Globe [ written by Tim ]
Tim's ability to reach A0 is so mind blowing that reaching A5 is simply incomprehensible. His top end is a note or so higher than Rob's. I keep saying that labeling the HF singers with the traditional parts is only a convenience for the listener, not an indication of the singers' abilities.
Strange isn't it, that Tim and Avi have about the same 5 octave range yet Tim can sound like a true tenor while Avi can hit the same note and you still hear the deep, warm, chocolate of his voice.
First time I saw tlhis vid, I thought it was an April Fools Day gag, with Tim lip-syncing a track recorded by Rob or Austin, but no; Tim just has a freaky 5-octave range (He was originally trained as a tenor) Then Chance hits a C2. He's covering the bass line through this song. I suspect his ability to cover bass effectively is one of the reasons HF hired him. Your look of utter joy when Chance hit his low note during his solo is priceless.
And they sang it in the same key as the original. By a female artist. A soprano! They say Tim's voice is one in a million, but I think it's closer to one in a hundred-million.
When you don't know the guys, people just think this is a really good cover of Mayday. And it is. When you DO know the guys in Home Free, you can appreciate it even more. Tim is singing where?!? And Chance can do that?!? (Chance actually sang bass in a different group before joining Home Free, so he has some skills that don't always get the attention they should.)
That's our Timmy. A do it all man. He's a one man band. Adam really shines in this one for me. Oh hell they were all awesome. Liked your reaction. I knew you would love it. 💘 Try their cover of "Never gonna give you up." Very funny.
Now listen to Tim's new original, "Snow Globe".....and his backyard duet with Austin on, "My Maria". It was Chance doing all the bass "dun dun dun duns" in the beginning.
I think you might be the first reactor I've seen that actually caught Tim on the high harmony at the end, with Rob going lower. I saw an interview with Tim where he said he actually trained as a tenor, and his voice started going lower AS he trained, so he just kept the high end and kept dropping the bottom out. He actually has a 5 plus octave range, and his resonance makes it all sound amazing.
High harmonies!?! Happens more than most realize. Not only Tim but Chance as well. Chance has really extended the abilities of HF; freeing up Tim and Rob in so many cases. His harmony and blend with each .. tbh - same as Tim ... it's who best fits each role. And with that said --- Tim and Chance sound different but yet, can sound pretty damn near the same. Oh, and when ya add in AdamR ... things get real real! And that's real! :) Now, I'd wager this ... Bet that many will listen closer!!! And it's sooooo damn good!!!
The level of just sheer talent, their performance level in Mayday and Brothers in Arms is totally mind boggling. They just get better and better every time you hear them.
YES! Thank you for being one of the few reactors who spotted that Tim is also doing the high harmony with Rob at the end - most spot him doing tenor at the beginning, but hardly any of them notice the end part as well.
This is the 5 octaves higher range we’ve all been telling you about. Hence the don’t watch this until you were familiar with them and their vocals. Plus there’s at least one other moment that will surprise you. At least I think it will.
Another song (and the first time I heard) that Chance shows his bass skills is in their cover of Sawyer Brown's "Some Girls Do". He also has the lead in that one. Definitely a favorite of mine.
Yes. You understand why Home Fries like to make reactors wait for Mayday. You had one of the bast reactions I’ve seen. This was sung originally by a female and Home Free sang it in the original key. Also because Chance sang bass in his previous group, they wanted to showcase his range - he’s not just a baritone. And this way Tim got to showcase his amazing range and sing tenor all the way through. Before Chance, Tim couldn’t leave the bass for long. Chris who helped out was really a tenor. Yeah for Chance. Now go to Austin Brown’s channel and react to My Maria. It’s soooo fun and amazing.
All of their vocal ranges are impressive and they all also help Adam with the beat boxing or atmospheric sounds and the way the harmonize is perfect. Pure talent and professionalism. This group has been my favorite for a long time. I am also impressed with Pentatonix.
This is one of my favorites. So glad you waited to react to it. Your surprise at hearing the switch ups in the voices was great. Tim can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. And Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. This song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original.
LOVED the reaction!!! Home Free knocks it out of the park again! For an even closer look at Tim's range check out his and Austin's back yard jam session. They sing "My Maria" will absolutely knock your socks off. Love your channel.
Please do Snow Globe next it's Christmas time and they have tons of sings snow globe is an original If you've done Champaign Taste on a beer budget then you can do Full of Cheer. If not, please do Champaign Taste then Full if Cheer. Both are originals too
21 hrs to go.......this one is gonna be FUN!! ....and you didn't disappoint 🤪 They all do such an amazing job with this, switching up their parts and producing magic, and well done for noticing Tim with his high harmony at the end too. Check out Austin & Tim (& friends) singing "My Maria" in the backyard on Austin's own channel.
Thank you! Home Free’s tenors sang this in the same key as Cam, the female original singer! Tim 🤯 and Chance vocal ranges are unbelievable! Home Free Snow Globe co-written by Tim is a must watch beautiful love song.
LOVED your reaction, Chris!❤😲 This is my favorite Home Free cover song after "How Great Thou Art" & I love watching reactions to it! We seasoned Home Fries keep telling newcomers that Tim has a 5+ octave range & that Chance used to sing bass with his previous group, Street Corner Symphony, but it doesn't really sink in until "Mayday"!😊
You did it just right. Some reactors listen to it too early and aren’t surprised by it and we’re like dude, the guy starting off the song is the bass. So glad you knew their voices. Yeah Tim was just showing off his 5 octave range for ya! : ) And even though Chance is a baritone/bass he really went low in this one. It’s a good song too. Great reaction Chris. Yeah, it’s crazy good with surprises.
Now that you've gotten over the Mayday test, you should start looking at their original stuff. They have a whole album of stuff written by the members of the group. 'Champaign Taste On A Beer Budget' is a really good one, written by Tim before he joined Home Free. 'Why Not' is one where Rob takes the lead, its one of my favorite Home Free songs.
This video was shortly after Chance joined. See, Tim was always able to do stuff like that but as I'm sure you know, you need a solid base line in accapella and before Chance joined, there was no one to take his place if he wanted to do other stuff. Chris Rupp is a great singer, but he's a tenor and though he rarely sings, so is Adam Rupp. So Home Free was 4 tenors and a bass. Adam Chance served as the base for his previous group I'm told. So him being able to keep the bottom if Tim were to take a break really widened what they could do as a group. This video was made to show off exactly that.
If you haven't already done so, watch their version of When a Man Loves a Woman and - if you need a break - "Colder Weather Memory Lapse". I recall learning that Tim Foust has a 5 octave range!
😂😂😂 I just love the moment when you figured it out! Love it! Yes he has range. 5+ octave range. Chanse is a bass to so he takes over when Tim sings solo. He knows how to do it.
You should also appreciate "Snow Globe" if you liked this one. Tim wrote it and sings lead as well. It's the right time of year too! Chance carries the bass real well in most songs where Tim does leads like "In the Blood".
Hahaha...I applaud every time it gets to Chance's part in this song. It's like "You tell em Chance"..His range is amazing and Austin and him do some amazing cross harmony stuff in "Go Tell It On the Mountain". They are all so low key good at every part they sing. (It's a little sickening but in a good way". ) Great reaction. What can ya say about Home Free...You've done quite a few now so not sure where you are on the journey but I suggest Home Free - My Church & Children Go Where I Send Thee (Live @ London A Cappella Festival 2017)
This is why we want reactors to know a bit about Home Free before seeing this because you'd expect Tim to just sing bass and not sing in more of a tenor's range and you'd expect Chance to not go to those lows, but they do in this and their vocal versatility is amazing.
Great job!!! Your reaction is exactly why all the Home Fries said to wait until you knew, all the guys and the parts they typically sing. This is in my top 5 Home Free songs. Especially, since they sing the song in the same key as the original.
So I give creators 3 videos before I sub, this one got the sub. Your face when you notice it's Tim on the highs instead of the lows is awesome and really shows his range. Also, Rob freaking kills it and I think is extremely underrated as a singer. The entire time I'm waiting for your reaction to Adam's part.
I absolutely love their cover of this song. It really shows their range and doesn't pigeon whole them into being just a country vocal band. Kind of mature boy band personas...all in their higher range except Adam Chance....and Adam and his percussion in this...just amazing.
Now you know why we tell Reactors to wait for this one until they know our guys better :) Even more impressive? They're singing it in the same key as Cam, the original FEMALE artist!!
This was a dozen bacon egg and cheese buttermilk biscuits reaction my friend! Thanks for getting to this one. It's the one song that the home fries look forward to seeing from reactors and you did not disappoint. Keep up the great work!
Loved your reaction. Such fun to watch someone who isn't familiar with how talented all the guys are in their ranges. Welcome to the wonderful world of Home Fries!
Aside from their amazingness (if I can coin a word), this is a great song! Cam is a terrific songwriter and a fine singer in her own right. Superb lyrics and I love that counter melody at the end. Just terrific.
This is definitely one of my favourites but them. It was a lot of fun even or was first released as the song was released before the video. So many didn't know who it was and when those of us who heard or was Tim said it was him they didn't believe, even when Tim himself confirmed it. The discussion didn't end until the video was released. The versatility these guys have is just mind-blowing. Great reaction! Thank you! 🥰🙏
Yaaaay, so few reactors notice that Tim is singing the high part with Rob at the end - but *of course* you did! 😁That's why you're one of the best reactors out there.
Rob/Austin: We need three tenors to do this right
Tim: Ok, I got this, Chance you have bass
Chance: Uh, ok
Adam: Ba-dum-tiss
😆😆
😂😂 Exactly!
Nice!!!
😄😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now you understand why Home Fries tell reactors to WAIT to react to Mayday....until after they FULLY understand and know the guys.
Tim's vocal range is not even human. I've been following HomeFree since Ring of Fire made its rounds on FB and truly his range is on the edge of impossible. Some people may be able to obtain the range but he does so almost effortlessly and with such technical skill that it is simply almost impossible.
On the other end of the rang spectrum is Dimash Qudaibergen, he has a 6 octave range topping out at a D8 he hit live.
Welcome down the rabbit hole into Home Fri adoration of Home Free talent !!! Yes, Tim has a 5 + octave range!
Go tell it on the mountain.home free and Texas hill ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Yep, there it is. Heck indeed. Nicely done.
They are singing in the same range that the original singer did. Totally amazing. And basically showing off. 😁🤣
Fun fact, Tim was actually a late bloomer. He sung tenor in High School and didn't get his bass voice until his late teens.
Adam Rupp can go low too! I saw them live a couple days ago and he was making the place shake during his drum solo
@@ashleysheree7057 I suspected that, thanks for the confirmation!
Oh, we love it when a reactor spots that Tim is staying up high in this one. Even more shocking, a lot of that is still chest voice. Tim was a tenor till pretty late in high school when his voice finally changed, and then he worked really hard to recover/maintain that tenor range. Rob was singing the melodic outro, then Tim came in above Rob through the fade out. Amazeballs...
Amazeballs indeed
Please take a look at Do you hear what I hear - with your knowledge about music you will have field day with that one - it is undoubtedly one of their most complicated arrangements (Adam’s work) and completely unique. A true masterpiece. And its a Christmas song!
I totally agree with that. My favorite one of theirs.
Oh I love this 1!! 💕💕💕
YES!!
Oh yes please!!
Pretty please, then "What Child Is This", sung in a cave
with Chris rejoining Home Free for this song.
Tim shocks in My Maria too!
It's also sort of mind-blowing to hear Austin and Tim sing "Maria" and Tim takes the high part and Austin sings below him.
I love Snow Globe!! One of my favorites 💕💕
Definitely!!
We gotta get snowglobe in this Playlist! 🥰
Tim's ability to reach A0 is so mind blowing that reaching A5 is simply incomprehensible. His top end is a note or so higher than Rob's. I keep saying that labeling the HF singers with the traditional parts is only a convenience for the listener, not an indication of the singers' abilities.
Well said @ Robert Hudson!💯%
Yeah, I'm female and I can only barely make it to A5 (I'm firmly an alto).
Counting down. Know you will appreciate this beautiful video
Strange isn't it, that Tim and Avi have about the same 5 octave range yet Tim can sound like a true tenor while

I'm pretty sure that's a B1, not a C2.
B1 not C2
OMG I've listened to this song countless times and had no idea it was Tim going high on 'I don't wanna tell you' at the end
Wow!
Now you're ready för their Christmas original Snow Globe
And they sang it in the same key as the original. By a female artist. A soprano! They say Tim's voice is one in a million, but I think it's closer to one in a hundred-million.

And Chance can do that?!? (Chance actually sang bass in a different group before joining Home Free, so he has some skills that don't always get the attention they should.)
I really like Chance's, "dum dum dum dum" behind Tim.
Chance was bass for Street Corner Symphony. See season 2 of the Sing Off. They came in 2nd.
What makes it even more amazing is that they sang it in the same key as Cam.
A little explanation. This song is a cover by the female country artist Cam. So they are singing it in her pitch. They did an amazing job.
Loved your face when you realized Tim was singing!!!
That's why we want reactors to wait 'til they know the group b4 reacting to this. Absolutely loved the shocked surprised look on your face.
And now you know. THIS is why we ask people to wait, and you didn't disappoint!
I think you might be the first reactor I've seen that actually caught Tim on the high harmony at the end, with Rob going lower. That’s amazing! And yessss, my ears pick up many things haha ;)
Wow... first time I've ever heard Ti'm's voice at that register.... amazed.
OMG that was Chance doing that .. blown away..just so much talent in this one group. how
High harmonies!?! Happens more than most realize. Not only Tim but Chance as well. Chance has really extended the abilities of HF; freeing up Tim and Rob in so many cases. If you haven’t seen it, check out Austin and Tim singing Brooks and Dunn’s “My Maria.” You won’t be disappointed.
Now you can check out Austin’s channel and him and Tim doing My Maria :)
Reacted to it about a week or so back :) So good!
Mind Blown!
The level of just sheer talent, their performance level in Mayday and Brothers in Arms is totally mind boggling. They just get better and better every time you hear them.
The confused look on your face was awesome. Love this song.
You would almost not notice how we'll Chance took over the bass, and Tim sang with the tenors the whole song. Amazing song by the boys.
Yep Tim is singing the high harmony
Now you know ... aren't they just the best ?! So versatile , so talented ... thank God they found each other !!!
You’ll love “ Thinking Out. Loud/Let’s Get it On” cover. Now that you’ve gotten through the shock. Lol.
Another song (and the first time I heard) that Chance shows his bass skills is in their cover of Sawyer Brown's "Some Girls Do". He also has the lead in that one. Definitely a favorite of mine.

Reacted to it a couple weeks back. Check it out! :)
On my way, thanks!
Please do Snow Globe next it's Christmas time and they have tons of sings snow globe is an original
If you've done Champaign Taste on a beer budget then you can do Full of Cheer. If not, please do Champaign Taste then Full if Cheer. Both are originals too

Thank you! Home Free’s tenors sang this in the same key as Cam, the female original singer! Tim 🤯 and Chance vocal ranges are unbelievable! Home Free Snow Globe co-written by Tim is a must watch beautiful love song.
Absolutely LOVED your reaction. It's pretty much the same reaction most Home Fries had when this first came out. Thanks for reacting to this.

Now you need to watch Austin and Tim singing My Maria. It's incredible!!
Reacted to that one a week or so back :) So good!
So very excited for you to see/hear this! It's fantastic! And I'm excited myself to watch You see/hear it!♥️
this is the video that made me fall in love with chances voice now i can always pick it out of the line up
This video was shortly after Chance joined. P.S. - If you haven't seen "Mayday (Live)" it's amazing - they alll beatbox and Tim hits low notes that I didn't know existed!
This is the cover that shocked me so much with Tim going so high & Chance going so low! It’s one of my favorites! So glad you reacted to it! 😁♥️
😂😂😂
I just love the moment when you figured it out!
THAT'S why we told you to wait! If you want to hear more, check out Snow Globe or Tim and Austin singing My Maria...
Great reaction. They are all so very talented, but Tim though, yes!

This is why we want reactors to know a bit about Home Free before seeing this because you'd expect Tim to just sing bass and not sing in more of a tenor's range and you'd expect Chance to not go to those lows, but they do in this and their vocal versatility is amazing.
Awesome reaction. We love seeing the SURPRISED look on reactors faces
🤣🤣🤣 this was the PERFECT REACTION! exactly why we request reactors 'WAIT FOR IT'. 😉
These guys are just flawless 😍
This one got all of us at first!🤣 Definitely in every Home Fry’s top 5!
I really enjoy you and your reactions! You make me smile! 😀
I’m happy to hear that! :)
Go back and listen to the harmony that Tim does while Austin is hitting his big note, right before Chance's solo.
Great job!!! Your reaction is exactly why all the Home Fries said to wait until you knew, all the guys and the parts they typically sing. This is in my top 5 Home Free songs. Especially, since they sing the song in the same key as the original.
Looking foward to see this! 🙂👍
Chance was doing the bass the whole time. We could tell the instant you realized it was Tim, not Austin, opening.
Thanks for subscribing! 😊
And this is exactly why you have to wait to react to this song!
I love it when a "new" reactor gets to this one. Makes you realize what amazing vocalists all of these guys are.
LOLOLOL……LOVED your reaction ‼️🙃‼️
It's in the same key Cam did it. *blinks* This hammers home that 5 octave range. You can't really understand until you hear it.
Love watching someone being blown away with these amazing guys!
Love your reaction! Singing in same key as Cam!
Tim trained as a Tenor, the bass came later.
Adam (Chance ) baritone covers bass when Tim goes up. Chance was bass in his previous group.
And all of us Home Fries know who you mean by “he”! They are amazing aren’t they?! You do need to watch SnowGlobe!!
Love your reactions!!
This was a dozen bacon egg and cheese buttermilk biscuits reaction my friend! Thanks for getting to this one. It's the one song that the home fries look forward to seeing from reactors and you did not disappoint. Keep up the great work!
They never cease to amaze. This is definitely one of their best.
More of Tim singing “up there” in My Maria. It’s well worth the viewing.
Reacted to it about a week or so back :) So good!
Thank you! 🥰🙏
It was so fun watching your reaction to this song. This song by them is absolutely phenomenal.
Yaaaay, so few reactors notice that Tim is singing the high part with Rob at the end - but *of course* you did! 😁That's why you're one of the best reactors out there.
Awee thanks for the nice comment!!! :)
Snow Globe is a great one
"I just realize that was Tim." O.O
Sweet Mother Earth I LOL'ed at that! 🤣🤣 You crack me up, my young friend! Thank you! 😁
Glad you enjoyed it!! :)
