      Hell, at USC alone, you had: Anthony Davis, Marcus Allen, Charles White, Ricky Bell, Mike Garrett, Ronald Jones, then maybe Reggie Bush haha

      Barry averaged over 300 all purpose yards and 3.2 touchdowns per game, yes per game in college and that was in 11 games and he sat out about 4 - 4th quarters that season AND they didn't include his bowl game vs Wyoming in those stats and he scored 5 TDs that game , INSANE STATS that will never ever be touched.

    I will say it every time. If Barry was running behind an OL like Emmit Smith had most of his career, he would have AVERAGED 2000 yds a season! But he was constantly running through defenders instead of running through big holes.

    Barry #1. He did it with an offensive line that wasn't worth beans. It wasn't speed. It was how fast he could accelerate. He could stop and be back up to full speed in micro seconds. It was how easily he could shift position. It was his spider sense of always knowing where everyone was, even those behind him. But it wasn't speed, and he could get run down, but if he got 20 to 50 yards, who cared. I saw him make 8 guys miss and only get 1 yards, and it was awesome to behold.

    In 1997 Bobby Ross became the head coach. He says, you will all play the way I say, and Barry ran for 53 yards in their first 2 games. Everybody came down on him, he then let Barry do his thing and he ran for 2,000 yards in the last 14 games for a total of 2,053. If Ross kept his mouth shut Barry could have made 300 or more in those first 2 games for 2,300+ total! Now that's the real deal of Barry Sanders!!!

    I think you forgot one running back in your top 5.. Jim Brown. Best to ever play the game. The records he set were when they only had 12 game seasons and retired his prime. He averaged 5.2 yards a carry over 9 seasons and 104.3 yards per game over 9 seasons and never missed a game in 9 seasons. Those records have still not been broken even with 17 game seasons now. Would love to see you do a Jim Brown reaction. Keep up the great work!

    • @jamesdaniel3326
      @jamesdaniel3326 11 месяцев назад +1

      Jim was a fullback, and as fast as the big man was (and he was big and fast) he wouldn't be able to catch Barry. Barry would juke him up and down the field! And that would go for any other running back!

    • @skimpreza
      @skimpreza 10 месяцев назад

      Jim Brown played in an era where he was one of the biggest players on the field. On top of that, he had Pro Bowl linemen. In 9 years on Cleveland, his linemen had 21 Pro Bowls between them. Now that's a good line! I would still put him top 3... Maybe behind Payton who didn't have a great line in his career but was very productive.

  • @tomdodds8091

    Barry would have shattered rushing records if he hadn't retired after only 10 years. There was speculation that he retired because he didn't want to break Jim Brown's record because Barry's father was a HUGE Jim Brown fan and for his whole career said Barry was the best, after Jim Brown. I think he retired because Detroit would never trade him and Barry didn't like the direction the team was going, the new coaching staff and he was tired of losing.

    You are missing one thing... Barry Sanders did all that on the LIONS... and if I'm correct, even with all his great play, they never made the superbowl, they never made a champion ship, did they even get out of a wildcard spot?
    I watched Packer games back then, and Herman Moore and Barry Sanders WERE the whole team. I think their blocking was good (you'll see some awesome blocks on his runs), and the Bucs were HORRIBLE in the division back then (it was Chicago, Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit, and Tampa Bay at the time)... but Chicago and Green Bay and Minnesota were all decent.... the north was a tough division and while the packers D was probably not great, Chicago's was always good)...
    So when you compare him to those other RB's, many of those were on superbowl contending teams. Walter Payton was on one of the most iconic teams, the 1985 Bears. If Barry Sanders had played on that team, he would have probably doubled his yards!

    There were really only a couple things you could ding Barry Sanders on. He wasn't a great blocker (he was okay but he couldn't hold blocks well because he was undersized). And he wasn't the fastest guy. But he actually seemed to get faster as he got older. If he'd been faster, he probably could've had at *least* 50 more touchdowns in his career because he'd often break a big one but get caught around the 5 yard line and for some reason the Lions coach would then give the ball to a short yardage back to get the TD. But a lot of the shifty backs nowadays learned their moves by watching Barry. Even now, I'm not sure that anyone has equaled let alone surpassed Barry for sheer elusiveness. He made pro football players look like amateurs trying to tackle him.

    #1 Barry. #2 Barry. #3 Barry :) ...jk...respect to all the 'top' RB's, the term 'the best' is subjective...but for me, nobody was more exciting than Barry. Anytime he touched the ball you waited to see what he'd do because he did it every week. He was feared by every team he played against and left their fans screaming at their TV's.

    Barry sanders, bo Jackson, Walter Payton plus think bout it like this if Barry would have had an o-line we would have had more yards. If Barry would have had Emmitt Smiths offense line. Barry would have the most yards in 10 years then anybody ever and Noone would have been close to touching him

    My personal list, career average yards per carry
    #1 Jim Brown, 5.2
    #2 Barry Sanders, 5.0
    #3 Walter Payton, 5.0
    #4 Gayle Sayers, 5.0
    # 5 OJ Simpson, 4.7
    Barry played ten years behind a garbage offensive line. Had he played behind Dallas’ infamous O-line? It’s likely Barry Sanders would’ve ended his career well over 22,000 yards. 4k more than second place.

    You also are forgetting a simple fact. A lot of these highlights are of Barry in the 3rd or 4th quarter. And by then Barry must’ve taken 20 plus snaps before the highlight.

    You also have to consider that the most of the team (yes, I know of the better players that had during his time there) weren't very good so the defense would always key on Barry for pretty much every play. The were always looking for him to get the ball and usually had about two players just to watch for him
