To truly appreciate bo you must learn about the man and where/what he came from. A lot of people say this about a lot of athletes but with Bo its 100% true, there has never been a more well rounded athlete to grace a field. In an era where NFL and MLB was filled with steroids Bo did two sports clean. He was big, stupid strong, and would run out of your life in a fraction of a second. Bo is also very intelligent, full of integrity and one of the kindest people I've ever met. Given how he was raised with an extension used on his back as punishment Bo overcame his life's challenges and did it with grace. To love Bo goes far beyond a highlight tape and had his tragic injury not have happened he would have been a true hall of famer in two sports.
He would have been The only hall of Famer in two professional sports l. If he played today with the advancement of MRI, CT, XRAY, computer aided diagnostic machines and minimal invasive surgical techniques BO might have been diagnosed earlier and made a full recovery.
Very well put. He is an amazing human being and very genuine. The time I spent with him...you knew you were with a very well grounded and humble man. And to come up the way he did, overcome his speech impediment and with very minimal weight room time he is a freak of nature. He would have been HOF in 2 sports and as big as Michael Jordon. Had he not had his career cut short by that injury, he was literally eclipsing Michael Jordan in popularity across the board. if his career kept up at the pace it was there was no stopping him. Greatest athlete to ever grace sports period and it is not even close. Bo was more than a once in a generation type player, there has never been another like him and possibly never will.
Bo had the best time in the 40 yard dash in the combine for the next 20 years until Chris Johnson( a man 40 lbs lighter) barely broke it. He was a man WAY ahead of his time.

The Injury was the end. The thing about the injury was that it severed a blood vessel in his hip, which wasn't found out until weeks later. By the time it was discovered, the loss of oxygen to the joint caused irreparable bone damage, and he was never the same afterwards. He ended up getting a hip replacement and tried to come back as a baseball player, but he lost what had made him special. I do think he was still the only person to ever play professional sports after a full joint replacement, which is a testament to just how special he was.
They should have mri him immediately but obviously it was early 90’s and the treat athletes different now. Ruined his career and could have been prevented if he got immediate treatment

He rehabilitated from a hip replacement in a year his first at bat after rehabilitation he hit a 450 foot home run! He retrieved the ball had encased in acrylic and put on his Mums bedroom dresser in his childhood home. Just fantastic example of the human spirit!
Harold Reynolds, who got tagged out at home plate from Bo's throw, supposedly kept watching the video of Bo throwing the ball because he couldn't believe that he threw a ball that deep to home plate.
The camera even missed it most likely because of that same thing. But, you get a glimpse of where he threw it and Reynolds was almost at 3rd already. Craziest throw ever. But, he has others as well.

Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders both played professional football and baseball. Deion even played an NFL game, then a MLB game in the same day. As for Bo's injury, he had several complications after his surgery, and never made it back to the NFL. He was then later released by the Kansas City Royals, and picked up later in the season by the Chicago White Sox and played a few more years of baseball.
At FSU Deion played in both games of a double header and ran for the track team in between games. Yes, he played football and baseball practice in college and was on the track team.

Being a young man and watching Walter Payton run through and over and around people was something to behold and I always looked forward to watching him. And about the same time as Sweetness was doing his things on the NFL field 2 of the best young running backs the SEC had ever seen came onto the stage. Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson. That Bo Jackson Deion Sanders Baseball game was epic. Bo Jackson hit 3 HRs but left game due to injury making ridiculous superhuman dive to try to catch a ball. Deion got a chance to show his speed as well and hit an Inside the Park Homerun. Great Performance and spectacle by two of Americas Greatest All Around Athletes of All Time.

I really loved watching him play when I was a kid. He was what everyone wanted to be. But it's also fun to see younger people watch his highlights in awe. Now you get a taste of how special he was. You should google him. He did alot in college as well with the decathalon. My biggest admiration of him and barry sanders, they never gloated after a touchdown. they just handed the ball to the ref as to say "you guys aren't competition, you're just exercise".
Barry & Bo would be my 2 starting RBs - no-one could stop them & the only RB who compares with Bo would be Jim Brown. Barry was like water - you just couldn't grab him
just a few points about your inquires -Raiders played in L.A. during Bo's brief NFL career. - He did comeback to baseball only not Football....but he wasn't the same player. - BOs throw from left field about (310 feet) was huge because that could've been the game winning run thats why the crowd was going wild.
And, if I get my memory right about harold reynolds, from looking up stats back when. And sports cards. Harold was a league leader in stolen bases a year or two. At the very least was amongst the league leaders.
When Bo got hurt, his hip was pulled out and then actually pooped back in to place when he hit the ground. (an incredibly freak occurance!) It severed a couple of blood vessels and that was really the worst part of his injury.
You have to look up Bo Jackson frozen rope from left field it is the baseball shot that you have where a shows him throw in the guy out at home but it gives you a more of an understanding of how far away he was and how little momentum he used to generate that kind of forced to throw a ball 365' on a frozen rope strike

Bosworth was never an all pro linebacker. He was great in college supposedly but I never saw him as great just kinda good. He was famous for shock value type of style off the field but never amounted to much as a pro. Even a QB ran over him on a play... granted it was John Elway who was probably the toughest QB to tackle at that time but he wasn't exactly a Running back.
I remember that game. Boz was continually bragging about how he'd shut Bo down, and Bo absolutely decked him, and carried Boz into the end zone. It was hilarious.
He was my favorite player growing up. I was truly devastated when that injury happened I was watching it at the time. He was never the same. Never played football again. But he did try to play baseball with the Chicago White Sox right around the time Micheal Jordan did as well.

Bo Jackson, Heisman Trophy winner at the University of Auburn. Man was so good, he caused another Heisman Trophy winner and Hall of Famer Marcus Allen to play second fiddle to him.

The LB that Jackson plowed over at 3:40 was named Brian Bosworth. Coming out of college Bosworth was toted as to be one of the greatest LBs to enter the NFL in a long time. Unfortunately, due to injuries and not being as good as he was predicted, his career was short and never reached what many said he would. Many hyped this game as a contest between the two. I was in Knoxville, Tennessee once back in the eighties when Auburn was in town to play the the Volunteers that weekend and Bo was a rockstar back then. It consumed the whole city like a playoff atmosphere. It seemed everybody knew even back then that Bo was historic. He's a really good guy too. He lives nearby and he's a bank officer now and a great family man. This video left out the special moment Bo opened the baseball season with that home run dedicated to his mom who had passed in the off season. That ball is imbedded into her headstone.

That injury was the beginning of the end of what could have been one of THE GREATEST stories in all of athletics. He tried to come back from it, he had hip replacement surgery, but sadly was never the same again.
I had season tickets to the Raiders when they were in L.A. and Bo was playing. I was at the game where he suffered his career-ending injury. Happened right in front of where we were sitting. As soon as he went down, I knew something was seriously wrong. I still remember the sight and sound to this day. So devastating. He was such a joy to watch on the field.

I watched Bo in amazement as a kid. I was so into sports at that age that I was crushed when I found out his injury effectively ended his careers. When I'm feeling nostalgic, I sometimes watch the old "Bo knows" commercials.
That scene with number 55 of the Seahawks (Brian Bosworth) was one of the most anticipated games at the time. "The Boz" played for the University of Oklahoma and they were dominating college FB at the time. Bosworth was a celebrity in college and when he got drafted, they were expecting big things from the linebacker. Bo checked him in this game and pretty much ended his career as a bonafide badass in the NFL. Bo and Barry are the greatest I have ever seen as RBs.

Vincent Edward 'Bo' Jackson, is in my opinion, the BEST athlete of all time. Jim Brown would be number two. Bo should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, even though his career was cut short because of injury.
That moment after his hip injury when he gets up to "walk it off" spoke volumes to me as a kid. No matter how much it hurt, keep going. Bo and Barry, two g.o.a.t.s. Bo continued to go to raiders camp after but just couldn't compete. Played baseball a couple more years I believe as well.

In my lifetime, I think he was the best pro athlete I ever saw!

Mekrab J That’s pretty incredible, considering the Raiders were in Los Angeles when Bo Jackson played for them in 1987-1990, and not in Oakland, so there’s no way you watched him ever play in Oakland. I’m a native Oaklander and know the only team playing at the Oakland Coliseum were the A’s.

That Bo Jackson Deion Sanders Baseball game was epic. Bo Jackson hit 3 HRs but left game due to injury making ridiculous superhuman dive to try to catch a ball. Deion got a chance to show his speed as well and hit an Inside the Park Homerun. Great Performance and spectacle by two of Americas Greatest All Around Athletes of All Time.

I really loved watching him play when I was a kid. He was what everyone wanted to be. But it's also fun to see younger people watch his highlights in awe. Now you get a taste of how special he was. You should google him. He did alot in college as well with the decathalon. My biggest admiration of him and barry sanders, they never gloated after a touchdown. they just handed the ball to the ref as to say "you guys aren't competition, you're just exercise".
Barry & Bo would be my 2 starting RBs - no-one could stop them & the only RB who compares with Bo would be Jim Brown. Barry was like water - you just couldn't grab him

just a few points about your inquires
-Raiders played in L.A. during Bo's brief NFL career.
- He did comeback to baseball only not Football....but he wasn't the same player.
- BOs throw from left field about (310 feet) was huge because that could've been the game winning run thats why the crowd was going wild.
And, if I get my memory right about harold reynolds, from looking up stats back when. And sports cards. Harold was a league leader in stolen bases a year or two. At the very least was amongst the league leaders.
When Bo got hurt, his hip was pulled out and then actually pooped back in to place when he hit the ground. (an incredibly freak occurance!) It severed a couple of blood vessels and that was really the worst part of his injury.

You have to look up Bo Jackson frozen rope from left field it is the baseball shot that you have where a shows him throw in the guy out at home but it gives you a more of an understanding of how far away he was and how little momentum he used to generate that kind of forced to throw a ball 365' on a frozen rope strike
The only athlete that comes close to Bo Jackson was Jim Thorpe who played pro in 3 sports and won gold in the Olympics

How lucky was i to be young and into football at that time. We had alot of good role models to choose from.
Brian Bosworth,, who Bo ran over in the Raiders-Seahawks clip, was ALL-PRO at linebacker.
Bosworth was never the same player after that hit.
Bosworth was never a great player in the nfl. His shoulder was too badly damaged at OU.
Bosworth was never an all pro linebacker. He was great in college supposedly but I never saw him as great just kinda good. He was famous for shock value type of style off the field but never amounted to much as a pro. Even a QB ran over him on a play... granted it was John Elway who was probably the toughest QB to tackle at that time but he wasn't exactly a Running back.
I remember that game. Boz was continually bragging about how he'd shut Bo down, and Bo absolutely decked him, and carried Boz into the end zone. It was hilarious.
He was my favorite player growing up. I was truly devastated when that injury happened I was watching it at the time. He was never the same. Never played football again. But he did try to play baseball with the Chicago White Sox right around the time Micheal Jordan did as well.
The injury ended his football career immediately and essentially ended "Bo" as a baseball player. He came back and played baseball again for a couple years but was never close to the same player. His career was cut short just as he was getting started.
He didn't have much to prove to anyone. He was already the greatest.
I was watching that game where Bo got the hip injury and it broke my heart. It didn't look like a tackle that would cause a serious injury at the time and I was wondering why he didn't get up. I even loved the "Bo knows" series of commercials. The only athlete that came near him in that era was Secretariat, the horse who won the Belmont (and thus, the Triple Crown) by about 21 lengths.
If you want to see another athlete who was super dominant at his position(s) in the NFL, PLEASE do a reaction to Steve Tasker. Greatest motor in the history of the sport, only 5'9" and about 170 lbs., but even when they double teamed him, they couldn't stop him. I promise you'll be amazed.

I had that game as a kid, and because I was like 5 years old, I couldn't remember which team I liked to play(because I always ran the ball with Bo Jackson), so I'd just yell to my brother "What team do I like?!" "Oakland Raiders!!" "Okay!"
That was his pro football career ending injury my dad used to watch him I wish I had the chance too he is a legend for the Raiders along with others

Born and raised in Kansas City, Bo has always been my favorite athlete. I went to Royals Stadium often and saw several of those highlights live, including the inside the park HR. I'm not sure his combination of speed and power has ever been matched. Great video, loved your reactions!
Bo Jackson, Heisman Trophy winner at the University of Auburn. Man was so good, he caused another Heisman Trophy winner and Hall of Famer Marcus Allen to play second fiddle to him.
And Marcus was no slack either!! The Super Bowl against the Redskins... Probably his finest moment!

Watch the 30for30 on him and they talk more about "The Throw" to home to get Harold Reynolds. Harold watched the tape trying to figure out how the hell he got thrown out on a successful hit and run. The catcher was walking off the field and had to turn around to go catch it...lol.

The LB that Jackson plowed over at 3:40 was named Brian Bosworth. Coming out of college Bosworth was toted as to be one of the greatest LBs to enter the NFL in a long time. Unfortunately, due to injuries and not being as good as he was predicted, his career was short and never reached what many said he would. Many hyped this game as a contest between the two. Great videos, keep up the good work.

I was in Knoxville, Tennessee once back in the eighties when Auburn was in town to play the the Volunteers that weekend and Bo was a rockstar back then. It consumed the whole city like a playoff atmosphere. It seemed everybody knew even back then that Bo was historic. He's a really good guy too. He lives nearby and he's a bank officer now and a great family man. This video left out the special moment Bo opened the baseball season with that home run dedicated to his mom who had passed in the off season. That ball is imbedded into her headstone.

Greatest athlete I've ever seen. As a Bengals fan it's hard to watch that highlight. I remember watching the game on TV and they interviewed him on the sideline said he'd be back next week.
When he ran over Bosworth LB for the seahawks it was the craziest thing most hype moment they called it Bo vs Boz

That injury was the beginning of the end of what could have been one of THE GREATEST stories in all of athletics.
He tried to come back from it, he had hip replacement surgery, but sadly was never the same again.

I had season tickets to the Raiders when they were in L.A. and Bo was playing. I was at the game where he suffered his career-ending injury. Happened right in front of where we were sitting. As soon as he went down, I knew something was seriously wrong. I still remember the sight and sound to this day. So devastating. He was such a joy to watch on the field.
Check 07 Fiesta Bowl between Boise State and Oklahoma. The video by “Harris Highlights” does a good job of capturing the emotion of that game and it’s well worth it. One of the best college football games ever played.

The injury cut off the blood supply to his hip and his hip had to be replaced with an artificial hip. He played baseball again but not football. His career was cut short.

I watched Bo in amazement as a kid. I was so into sports at that age that I was crushed when I found out his injury effectively ended his careers. When I'm feeling nostalgic, I sometimes watch the old "Bo knows" commercials.

That scene with number 55 of the Seahawks (Brian Bosworth) was one of the most anticipated games at the time. "The Boz" played for the University of Oklahoma and they were dominating college FB at the time. Bosworth was a celebrity in college and when he got drafted, they were expecting big things from the linebacker. Bo checked him in this game and pretty much ended his career as a bonafide badass in the NFL. Bo and Barry are the greatest I have ever seen as RBs.

my eyes still can't comprehend his speed. My brain and eyes can't wrap my head around how good he is when I watch this. 240 lb running backs aren't suppose to move this fast. But he did! Still unbelievable. A old school baseball player from the 40's said he only know 3 players in his life who made the sound he made when the ball met his bat. Babe Ruth, BO Jackson....and I can't remember the 3rd.

Vincent Edward 'Bo' Jackson, is in my opinion, the BEST athlete of all time. Jim Brown would be number two. Bo should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, even though his career was cut short because of injury.

The way they do these highlights is kind of annoying. Breaking up the best part of plays with repeating slow-mo clips from different angles. You never get to just see the whole play happen at full speed. Bo was a Marvel mutant superhero in real life lol

he was a beast. When Auburn played Michigan in the Super dome pre game warm up he picked up a football and threw it toward the roof of the dome and hit the scoreboard.
No one was ever able to repeat this unreal throw.
A couple of punters did it kicking the ball but no one did it throwing.
