HOW TO BYPASS LAWN TRACTOR RIDING MOWER SEAT PTO BRAKE SAFETY SWITCH HARD WIRE IGNITION-SOLENOID FIX
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- In this episode of my $40 Cub Cadet MTD lawn tractor, I install a new battery and troubleshoot why it doesnt start. I hard wired a wire directly from the ignition switch solenoid trigger tab to the solenoid and it now cranks. The stock wiring goes through the seat, brake, and PTO safety switches which wont allow current to reach the solenoid if there is a bad or missing switch. I also had to remove the engine cover because I suspected a mouse nest in the engine which causes the engine to overheat.

What I did is follow the orange wire closest to my starter solenoid ensuring that it had power when the key was turned and then jumped it to the positive safety switch post on the starter solenoid bypassing the seat and brake switches with a 5" piece of wire. She starts each and every time since doing that plus I don't have to be sitting to start her. 👍
I know, I’m the king of bypass

Go to 17:00 to get to the meat.
Thank you!
10/10 for finally showing me how to bypass all the safety switches. -10/10 for taking so long to get there. Beggars can’t be choosers right? 👍🏼
Hope it helped!
@@MowersNBlowers Wasn't this supposed to inclued SAFETY SWITCHES??? Nothing about the seats, which is also in the title!!! Lots of video about mice and old change...but nothing in the title!! (well, except 'rip out all the wiring and do it all over"..)
Thank you, Henry. I have a small berry farm and to keep it profitable, I have to fix my stuff. I was really stumped and you helped me.
I’m glad! Hope you’ll subscribe
@@MowersNBlowers UPDATE conditional kudos only!! the bypass wire you demonstrated let it crank, but no spark. I had to depress the brake safety switch with a wire to get fire. Now I am running, but have not done a test mow. I did subscribe.
@@Fish5919 my bypass wire will allow spark as long as your ignition coil wire is also connected directly to the back of your M tab on the ignition switch.
well shoot that makes my life easier knowing i can easily bypass those switches.
You always connect the positive first. That way if you touch anything EXCEPT the negative post you will be safe.
Good tip Tom, thanks for the comment. Hope you'll subscribe
Good video. I am having trouble with my Bolens riding mower which, except for the color looks very similar to yours. Mine will crank but won't fire due to one of the cut-outs somewhere in the electrical system. BTW when I prime a carburetor I just pour a little fresh gas into the carb, instead of expensive carb cleaner. thanks for posting this.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid lost my login password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
These engines frequently have carburetor float problems. I think they are plastic and the alcohol fuel can distort them, then they don't float.
Ignition coil air gap and rust on the flywheel magnet sanding those lightly and removingvtge rust and setting the armature gap to spec will greatly improve your spark
Thank You very much Henry
My pleasure, hope you'll subscribe
Great video, I think I'm going to bypass the blade engagement on my lawnmower, every time I backup the blades disengage.
Happy new year from iowa, keep the videos comimg. Love your channel!
Thanks roger for commenting.
Thanks very much!
You saved me alot of hassle and cash.
Tried to short over the safety switches and fail, was about to buy an ignition switch but found your vid first and fixed it, mine was the orange wire too.
Anytime bro! Hope you subscribed
Ya KNOW?, YOU KNOW?, YOU KNOW? RIGHT? NO, I dont know, ya know. LEFT!
22:00 Orange wire is trigger when key is turned to start position, BUT what LETTER terminal is it?
The trigger wire is the S tab as stated numerous times in the video! It’s orange in this video but usually white in other models.
I didntthink the ignition on my 97 myd had the letters either till I looked closer at the actual pins. Thats where they are stamped.
Good info
Hope you’re subscribed
Blades turn because the deck tension is not right ther is rod on right side of the deck you have to adjust turn it inward to loosen the belt
I heard the fire siren, then you started the engine.... They know man they know.... LMAO
I can see disabling the RIO saftey switch, but the seat switch should be left intact.
Ideally all the switches should be left intact, but since I can’t trace yards of wire to figure out what’s wrong because the previous owner jacked everything up, bypassing all is the only way to get it started.
Awesome video
If I was doing lighting for a garage I would use the led daylights thair supper bright and are great at night and make night time looks like day time I have them and I recommend them
Happy new year henry!
Happy new year Mark!
you only get 2600 lumens for a short while, then it starts to fade. the led will last a long time and as you said is a quarter of the power plus the reduction in power from the removed ballast, installation takes about 5 to 19 minutes, my kitchen is so bright i had to remove half the led tubes,
I'm tired of chasing safety switches on my John Deere z 425 zero turn.. I'm going to look into this
I do it all the time
After you made the bypass wire, where in the solenoid did you plug it into
Probably easier for you to watch this
ruclips.net/video/OdmiUN3F7kY/видео.html
On a Murray riding lawn mower the seat safety switch one side goes to the solenoid not sure where the other one goes.
Led lights are supposed to hold up bett3r in cold weather too.
i don't the oil darn ether so i removed what was on it so i put a short pip an a 90 an a pip plug it don`t lick no more. and the oil don`t go all over the place.
Damn buddy you got enough material for 6 or 7 videos land the plane
It’s a busy day
Is the orange wire the same on most mowers for the safety switches??
Definately not. Sometimes its yellow
And bro take my word for it, take a 7/16th wrench and wrap it with electric tape, just leave the end you use exposed, that way you will never arc the battery positive with the body of the tractor.
Or a quarter inch ratchet with handle wrapped will work also
Brilliant!!
Have fun! Hope you subscribed
Where are you located at? Are you in Ferguson, I'm having trouble with my 19.5 Craftsman, I have wires burned, please contact me

My old florescent shop lights took such little energy and large light it was pennies per year. LED = less light is good?
I heard led is less energy and more bright but more expensive to buy!
My bad, I don't believe in some of the new products, in the long run. (old school ha)
Sure like this video!!
Hi I’m having trouble with my mtd mower when I engaged the blades it’s fine until i lower them to the halfway mark then the engine starts missing and cuts out but if you go down quickly to the last 2 lowest settings it runs okay again,I’ve checked all the pulleys they seem to be fine any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like the deck is misaligned which tightened the belt a bit more at halfway. Also under that kind of load, for it to hesitate and backfire means your carburetor isn’t clean, or your valves need adjustment to spec.
I don't know what I'm doing and can't afford to pay someone to fix my mower...could you somehow tell me which (if it matters) of the plugs on the solenoid to plug your spaghetti into??? Also, when you say some of the switches do not have the letters on them...mine does. I didn't hear you say which letter it would be (S, maybe???) Thanks for helping us out!!!

@@MowersNBlowers Thanks a million!!! Subscribing now!!! LOL!!!
watch some of the other videos that focus on just the solenoid and you will see it. The wire you want on the solenoid attaches with a little tab on the base of the solenoid. Not the top, heavier wires.
Dear God... Bro. 47 minutes?
I have hour long videos and 5 min ones…so what? You got any?
@@MowersNBlowers nah. No videos. I was looking to solve an issue with my riding mower. Your video came up in the search. I started watching to solve the problem.
I didn't leave the comment to be rude but since you decided to take offense and ask ignorant questions to try and seem superior in a fucking comment section. The thing with problems.... They need a solution. You rambling is not a solution. Your video, in the world of possible solutions, is a hindrance. No one tries to solve a problem by going to take a course about it. That's the wonderment about having a problem. It is specific and by nature needs to be solved.
I have a murry mower and I need to know how to bypass the safety switch es
Lol...watch the video then

OMG. This 48 minutes of video could have been done in under 15 minutes if he would have stayed on point for what the video was supposed to be about
Hey Vince, it’s my channel, my video I’ll make it as long or short as I want! I assume you knew you could skip! Make your own video big boy!
Phuck those stupid safety switches. Nothing but issues.
Really need to get the terminology correct, it TURNS OVER, but it HASN'T started & has Not run aka ran
Cranks means the starter turns the engine but no combustion, turn over means combustion but doesn’t run, run means continuous combustion and sustained operation. How about that terminology?
You’re welcome to make your own video so I can criticize it.

@@MowersNBlowers that's fair enough, and I agree with you, you are entitled to do what you want. But my point is you advertised the video about a mower issue, and if people are going to watch it, it is because they have a mower problem, they are not looking for plumbing advice or painting advice, they are frustrated enough with the problem they are having with their mower, and they are looking for a quick answer so they can get back to it. Sorry if you felt offended, but like everyone else, I get frustrated when I have a problem I'm looking for a solution to.
over 10 mins and no mention of bypass -----no thanks

instead of braging about bypassing all safety switches why diidnt you just fix the one causing the prob. did you disc. your seat belts in your truck also makes about as much sence
