I just picked up the exact same model a few weeks ago for free. It had so many problems but this was the last fix I needed to do. Followed your video and it worked for me, thanks
Check out what I did with mine, these mowers are a pain.

That last part is slick as hell. Perfect for a home without children around
Haha right, that thing is so dangerous
I've got one of these from 1991, still runs good. Thanks for the tutorial.
Be careful on that thing
AWESOME!!, video bro! I run the same exact Kohler engines on my commercial toro z master mowers! Just picked up an older z master with rat nest hog-pog wiring mess. I'm so thankful for finding your video on exactly what I need to do, to by-pass all the rat-nest wiring and totally remove all unnecessary wires. Be safe out there!
Glad to help but be careful on that rig! She sounds like a beast
Thank you so much bro seriously been messing with this mower for months and gave up every time subbed fosho
Glad it helped just be careful if you are spinning a blade with no safety switches.
AWESOME!!!! THANK YOU!!! This is going to help me get my MTD mower going. Also, you have those banana clips, you could've banana clipped the Multimeter leads to the lawnmower switch tabs and tested which terminals close when you put it in the start position by yourself.
Interesting, I didn’t even know a multimeter could provide power to test a switch. I learn a lot from comments on here
Thanks Mike! This might pay for your first beer. Your post helped me resurrect a very troublesome Husqy...let's mow! 🇨🇦
Ah shucks thankyou so much. Glad you got her rolling. I am headed to Canada this week, maybe I will see ya there!
Great diagnostic tool. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome stuff right there Mike!! Just found your channel today..God bless
Welcome aboard, strap in it could get weird and don’t believe everything I say lol
I like your three pedal LED trouble light hack... good thinking for lots of light!
Haha yep was an odd one
great video I learned something new today. My scag been down all summer long
Be careful bypassing stuff
HAHAHAA this was great, just subbed. I use my Lawn tractor riding mower only to plow snow (I dont even have grass on my property, so the mower deck isnt even on) So having all those safety switches was pointless. I was constantly inadvertently shutting the tractor off every time I got off , which was a lot, to move things around while im plowing. I know I could just use the parking brake but I always forget. This is so much better, and now I dont have to care/worry about switching going bad and figuring all that shit out mid season . Thanks
Hey glad to help. I am wanting to do something similar with this little tractor. What model and setup do you use plowing snow?
@@MowerMike I have a 2018 craftsman T3200. Not the biggest or most powerful , but no slouch either. I run a craftsman 42" plow on it with 22" ITP mud terrain ATV tires. It's good for light snow but anything over a few inches or heavy and it struggles. Even with the ATV tires they slip, I'm 200lbs but I'm sure some extra weight would help. I actually just bought and and installed a 42" snowblower attachment, I bought it used so It took some tweaking to get it fitted up right. Hyped to get that thing out there to work. We can get some heavy snow dumps here in New York.
Dang that sounds cool. Yep you need to add some weight in the back of that rig. I know they make some weight attachments for them, check out this company they have some stuff like that. Can’t wait to get mine rigged up

Worked @ the Snapper mower factory in McDonough Ga. & the 2nd safety switch added to the mowers was added due to an accident and /or a lawsuit, and MANY MORE safeties added thereafter
I love the safety switch for the blades... I would never disconnect that one
I totally agree!
This was a big help good job
Be careful on that thing
You grabbing that wire to kill it and getting zapped had me dead😂😂😂😂😂😅
Glad you got a giggle, she was a bit hot lol
Helpful video thanks
Glad it helps
See the speed bag up there.... That's for when he works on the new cubs, and gets frustrated..... Great video, and thanks for saying if you are mowing with it, don't do the safety switch bypass.
Haha I wish that was true. I used that bag for about 6 months and now it is just garage art. I sure hope no one hurts themselves with this video.
Cool thanks brother at times we have to bypass stuff.. love the break starter 😂 I'm not doing that yet lol😊
I had fun with it, ya this video is very redneck.
great, Thanks Joe
You got it be careful on that rig!
Actually the term "StarterSolenoid" is correct for that type of starter. Mike referred to the starter as a "Car Starter" at one point. Solenoids and relays provide the same function, however, Solenoids carry far more current than relays. A starter motor might require 25 Amps to spin it up and crank the engine long enough to start it. Relays typically will only carry perhaps 10 amps. In electronics an even larger unit is called a "Contactor" same functions, just huge plates that slam together and pass sometimes hundreds of amps.
Thanks for the lesson!
Don't bypass ANY safety switches.
I like your I like you ideas
Thanks, there are some weird ones up there
Good for diagnostics
LOVE the information!! I've got an old 2006 Cub Cadet Zero Turn that doesn't do anything, so i'm guessing it's a safety switch somewhere... I look forward to trying this method... thanks!!
Be careful!
Great job… Thank you so much
Be careful on that rig!
Thank you for the video. Was your problem a no crank issue or a crank but no start issue? I have a Kubota T1560 that will crank, but wont start. Im trying to decide if it can be a safety switch.
If it cranks than it probably isn’t an electrical issue, the safety switches stop it from cranking. It probably isn’t getting fuel
After spending 3 days trying to get a Branson 2400H to turnover and trying and retrying every combination of "fixes" I came across your video. In fact, I have a 2nd 2400H that I purchased new in 2017 (THe one I am working on is also a 2017 purchased at an auction: Inoperable, and had been rolled over before being repossessed. So, I had proven parts to swap in the event I could not validate an issue. I got the auction tractor going (fuel issues) and then went on to tackle the rollover issue. The cab wasn't affected but the left side FEL bracket and clutch rod needed welding. I suppose there was a very slight twist in the frame which I believe caused a misaligned safety switch or two. A few days ago, I got the auction tractor running and driving. The next day nothing. After trying anything and everything I tried your bypass approach and after having turned the key at least one hundred times, this time it turned over. Hurray. Now I can narrow down the good and bad switches. Thank you very much. Now, clean up your yard!
Haha glad it helped out. That sounds like a blast working on a tractor like that. Someday I will graduate to front end loaders.
Yes I am slowly clearing out the yard
Do you still have the gravely zero turn and is it a zt1944 model
YOU bypassed trigger wire to starter solenoid. You took 2 wires off solenoid so did you hook other solenoid wire back on are just leave it off and what is that wire for. Thank U
Yes the other two fat wires should stay on the solenoid l, you only jump the small wire.
Awwww thank you !
Be careful with her!
Excellent video. I have one of the later Cub Cadets with the push button POS module. I just bypassed the start relay but ultimately I’d like to bypass all the safety switches. One small thing: the “starter solenoid” is on the starter Itself. It converts electrical energy to mechanical movement. The component that you referred to as the starter solenoid is actually the starter relay.
Ah good point
So it was informative. Another version of what i need to do with all my lawn tractors to start them…. However you should wire from load (starter) to source (switch)
Hmmm you live on the edge sir, be careful with all those mowers with no safety switches.
Saved me a bunch of time trying to figure out what switch was bad. I even have a good understanding, but always fixed it. Now it's like the good old days. Form the fokes that didn't leave Nor Cal for Texas.
Haha nice, Nor Cal I hear is a cool place. Be careful with that thing if it is spinning blades
Alligator clip dog. Haha. No nanner clips. Thanks bud. Trying to fix 3rd generation zero turn. Was paps then dads now mine but they have wore her out. Your videos are helping greatly. Just wanted to say thank you. OH. and its. A dixion zero turn. So. Parts are abundant hahaha. NOT!!!!!
Ahhh the Dixon zero turn, baby blue. Those are such a pain to work on but I can u understand. Good luck, if you have any ideas for new Zeroturn videos to help ya out let me know.
If its getting fuel and spark it should run. If no fuel on the bottom of the carburetor are 2 wires going to the anti back fire switch. Un screw it and take plunger out then re install in carburetor
A quck way to "test" the fuel cutoff selenoid is to listen for a "click" when you turn the key into the run position. If there's no click, then it's buggered up.
Hello mower mike. I have a question about a different mower. I have a toro proline 44” walk behind mower model 30434. It set over the winter and it ran great before but now it won’t start unless I unplug both coils and it starts right up. But then I have no way of turning it off unless choking it off. I checked the two safety switches I seen, I hooked up a toggle switch on the ground to the coils and still nothing. Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated. I watch all your videos when I have problems but can’t find much on RUclips about walk behind mowers. I want to bypass all the switches
Wow you have watched them all, didn’t know anyone had done that.
No idea on your mower though. I usually just do riders or whatever is broke in my yard. A 44in walk behind mower is serious! Good luck
awsome possium
Get’r done!
Hello, I have a issue with my 04 cub cadet z force it starts fine but I can't get it to move. Ive watched everything and Cant find any tips for mine. itsa 44 inch cut. if you get a min Could you point me in the right direction please. Thank you
I suggest checking that the drive belts are tight
have you ever worked on a MTD yardbug riding mower? having some issues with my safety switches but my mower is not as complicated as yours. I'm New to dealing with wiring.
Nope never heard or one. If you are mowing I suggest fixing the issues and not hot wiring
i am a old timmer in your case the solina on your strat is sticking
You are a genius
Haha I wouldn’t go that far but thanks.
did what show but i have a fuse that blows when i turn the key, it's a murray 309007X8 12.5 hp brigs
You probably shouldn’t be doing this
Thank you, This worked for me. I just wish my solenoid had'nt been hidden in very difficult sport to reach ! damn engineers
Glad it worked, be careful!
I removed safety switches similar to you, and was successful, but now I cant turn off the mower (Luckily I have a gas valve I can close). Is there a basic place where I can attach a new wire elsewhere and ground it out, creating a kill switch without trying to figure out what to undo of what I have already done? I dont have any letters on my key switch... I thought about finding the magneto wire and running it to ground via a switch, but I dont know of a way to figure out which terminal it is. Any simple ways to somehow wire in a kill switch. (The Simplicity had an electric blade engager, and in bypassing all that, I suspect I lost my ability to ground the magneto.
I don’t know sounds like quite the dangerous machine, be careful on that rig
On the final test (around16:12) you put your foot on a pedal. Is that the clutch/brake ? Is this move out of habbit or is that switch really bypassed ?
It is a clutch and I have no idea what happened or why it started cranking. I really don’t know what I am doing.
I used power equipment for decades without safety switches. The way I lived thru that was by using ''common sense''. I see safety switches as a way of government being a ''nanny'' to protect a few mental incompetents from the results of their actions.
Haha have a few views do we Rick
I agree with Rick!!!
So true
Had a freind roll a mower over on him when we were about 12. Seat switch wasn't even born yet. He just got lucky he wasnt cut up real bad, even lose a limb.
I shut it off & pulled the mower off him so when safety switches first showed up I knew exactly why they put safety switches on them.
So just beware if you bypass these, you may not be the only one who operates your machine. Be sure to inform others who work on it, buy it or operate it.
@@harryballz6358is it time for a diaper change and a nappy? Should be noballz instead of harryballz.
Dude I feel this! Mine pain in the ass one is a Huskee lol.
Haha mowers suck
Thanks Buddy
No problem 👍
can anyone help me with this problem ( i have a craftsman 1994 22 hp kohler lawn and garden tractor GT6000 . every time i engaged pto as soon as blades start spinning it shuts the motor off can you help
I would unhook the deck belt and check all the pullies and see if you have any restrictions. If everything is turning free then I would check out the engine checking the carb, valve lash and compression. Good luck
I need your help Mower Mike. I watched your video a couple times. I have a Murray Lawn General Riding Mower, model #42504X714
17 hp motor. The solenoid is under the steering wheel. I followed your instructions to the T. Now, When I turn the key on, the 15 amp fuse blows and nothing.
What I did BEFORE your video was override the seat switch by connecting the yellow wires together. For the clutch/brake safety switch bypass I connected the orange to orange and yellow to yellow wires.
Do you have any advice to try? Thank you.
I put all I know in that video. I suggest testing the safety switches. I wouldn’t run a mower with everything bypassed if you are cutting grass.
To override the seat though I think you just unplug it try unhooking the wires.
Thank you so much for responding.I’ll figure it out eventually.
I did that but installed an emergency kill switch (made with regular house wall light switch) on the floor board backing right below the seat.
I did roll over with it when cutting around a ditch culvert and hit that switch to kill it.
Lol that is the most redneck thing I have heard in a while. Love it thanks for the comment.
@@MowerMike Redneck it is!
But I get off to pickup trash (highway litter) a lot and have a 5 gallon bucket tied to the back of the seat. I do not want it to die every time I stop for trash :-0)
What did you ground out to create your kill switch? When I bypassed all my switches, I somehow lost the ability to turn the mower off!...lol. I am presently doing so with the fuel valve.
Mom
@@LTHandy
Sorry, I know I replied to this but I included a "link" to the wiring diagram so the censorshipo algorythm must have gone to work.
Anyway, I think I connected the seat safety switch wires to it so that it thinks I'm always "on the seat" until I flip that switch.
how good are you at speed bag? I was just thinkin the other day I want one in my garage and there one is lol
Haha love this comment. I highly suggest getting one. It is a great mind and upper body workout. It takes a couple of weeks of practice but once you get the rhythm down you will feel like Rocky. I can rip it pretty fast if my mind is clear.
Did a hell of a lot of googling today and found out what wrong with that mower. AIN'T GOT NO GAS IN IT.
, is that a 1947 model Evinrude boat motor on the back of your flat bottom
Noooo it is not, is like a 2014 Yamaha 4stroke. Close though lol
I know why it's doing that...the starter solenoid is sticking. Usually they have thick grease on the plunger and it will stick
Thanks frontline!
Cub cadet has the worst and too many had to get to safety systems. Thanks for vid.
Glad you enjoyed it! Check out my other cub cadet review videos.
Does that also work to cancel the Magnito kill switches
No those run off the engine flywheel
Mine did this too. It was a stuck solenoid. Replaced it and it cranked up
Nice move!
Hot wireing works but does it still charge the battery
No idea. Be careful on that thing
Either your kill wire is unplugged from the magneto or the plug is not connected to your reverse cutout switch.
No idea, that mower is in the scrap yard now. It was a POS
I appreciate you video and found it well done and entertaining, I wish I could do that.
However, That won’t work on most mowers because the safety switches interrupt the ground on the solenoid. You can energize the starter wire all you want but it’s not going to respond.
Interesting point. I find it scary so many people are watching this dumb video. Haha
Maybe so....but surely there is a way to hot wire ANY tractor in some way....
Hi Guys, I need help please. I have a 2007 Cub Cadet Zero Turn Tractor, and all of a sudden when I start it, it starts immediately, then blows a fuse and dies. I have changed the Ignition switch, the starter, the PTO switch, but it still does the same thing. What can I do to sort this out please?
Hmm. You may have a bad wire. Sometimes the positive battery cables get old or the starter cable and they can cause fueses to blow if they are weak. I know it is frustrating good luck
Thanks for your comments and rapid response to my question. Now I have the wiring sorted, but have a new problem. Just to put you in the picture, I got this machine from someone that bought it and could never get it working. My new problem is that the left rear wheel travels at a higher speed than the right rear wheel. It is a Zero Turn Tractor. What is wrong and how do I fix it please?

@@MowerMike thank you I will try it we've tried everything and just can't get it to Flyers the spark but I will try anything that's my baby out there my little deere
Just one question, if the starter motor sounds it's because it doesn't have any active safety, right? Regards
Yes if it is cranking then it isn’t a safety switch issue
@@MowerMike from Spain, thank you very much
Starter Bendix is hanging up. Happens when they use plastic and steel for gears.
I had a mower crank like that and it was the starter relay causing it
Really oh well too late now she is scrapped
I've seen these mowers become jammed up with a little bit of twine in the yard... It'll definitely hurt you but they're not going to take a limb off.
I disagree

I have a z335e john deer no star no crank.. I put new battery and nothing so I jumped silinoid and it worked so I bought ne silinoid and it still don't start so I replaced all the fuses and the key ignition and still nothing happens so I pulled off oll safety switches and checked with meter and they r fine .. so I put a jumper in all the safety switches just to see if that would work and still nothing.. I'm lost at this point so I ran 2 wires to the silinoid and a push button to bypass everything .. but does anyone know what I could be missing
Sometimes the actual wire either from the starter or the batter cables could be worn out. Try using jumper cables to bypass them and see if any of them work.
That's a good idea I'll try that next thanks mike
@@randydeyo60 Randy, did you solve your problem? My Cub Cadet ZT mower is doing the same thing and I'm stumped. Please respond with your solution. Thanks, Jay
