My Late dad had a Spitfire exactly like this.He passed away in 2019. The car has been stood in the garage for at least 10 years. We needed to move it to another garage recently, and had the exact same problem. Both Clutch and Brake Pedals are seized solid. I don't know yet what the fate of dads car will be just yet.Its now sitting quietly in another Lockup garage. Great to watch you do this on this Spitfire.

My favourite Triumph is the 13/60 Herald or the 2 litre Vitesse, also I am a big big fan of Dolomites. I will tell you the woeful tale of my nut and bolt restored burgundy 1850HL, top to bottom nothing was neglected and it was estimated up to its demise had several hundred wax layers of hard shell waxes atop it and a very fancy handmade vinyl roof with matching burgundy stitching and a nice nice set of highly polished Sprint wheels and stitched rear pillar covers. Inside nothing was forgotten, reupholstered beige seats fore and aft, a NOS deep beige carpet set, heck even the womble nose was NOS and I hand finished all the door cappings with a stained walnut lacquer varnish and the dash wood panels finishing off with a Sprint steering wheel, I fitted a Webasto to her. I had a mate in south London rebuild my 1850cc engine and a chap in Southampton I traded my existing box for a freshly recon one, alloy rad, polished SU's... Well younger brother says to I, "can I borrow your motor as me bird needs to go to somewhere in East London?" and I was like OK but treat her well... Well, he got a puncture on the approach to Blackwall tunnel on the Kidbrooke side, so he whams out my 3t hydraulic jack I ran with out the boot sticks it under the car and hoists her up pretty high, does the business with a wheel change and motors on. Brings it back explaining about the spare, so sorted a new one, stuck the original Sprint alloy back on and motored off and it had gone from a Scalextric on rails Triumph to wobbling all over the show so I wandered over to me mate in Bermondsey who had his garage and I left him to put it on the lift and I wandered to get a Dalton's Weekly and some smokes from a nearby shop. When I returned he barred my way, saying you are going to go beswick... So with trepidation I wanders in with him under the lift and well it was carnage, my brother had jacked it up by the passenger footwell and had pulled virtually every chassis weld on the passenger side. The "mushroom" in the footwell was level with the passenger front seat and the reason it was like a shopping trolley on ice was much of the mountings had distorted... I got insane quotes because of its needing to be jigged and I just didn't have the money so with a heavy heart chopped it in for a 2 litre Triumph TR7. I did have three more Triumphs after that, where I was running my very profitable 2nd hand car business over in West Howe in Bournemouth I had a 1500TC Dolomite in choco brown, a 2.5S burgundy saloon 2000 and a MK1 estate 2000 oh wait there was my H reg 13/60 which was an insane motor like flying a plane than driving a car.

Love it! Had one in the 70’s. That dreadful swinging arm suspension tried to decapitate me by putting the car upside down in a hedge - bad combination of circumstances that thankfully didn’t end up as the attending Traffic Officer had feared on his approach to the scene !!😮 Secret was , I grabbed the gearstick and pulled my upper body and head onto the passenger seat, and the windscreen frame collapsed and pinned me down (up ?) Happy days😊
